Our lounge features a beautiful selection of organic and biodynamic Mediterranean wines, a collection of eccentric and diverse sakes, a fantastic range of whiskeys and more, all carefully chosen to pair with our menu.
We pride ourselves in the quality and creativity of our dishes and strive to present each dish as a carefully constructed work of art, as beautiful as it is delicious, leaving the design of the restaurant a Zen backdrop to the main act, the food.
Loved the food and atmosphere. Ambience great upstairs and each dish was better than the the next. The volcano makiu was out of this world!
And for dessert, make sure you have the chocolate garden as one of your options!
Will be going back to try more off the menu for sure. Great place to take someone special and the waiters were awesome with their recommendations as well.
I need their playlist as the music was just perfect for listening and having a conversation as well.
A place that you visit for special occasions if you love this style of food
The venue was intimate and elegant but welcoming. We had plenty of space as a party of five. The seating was comfortable and evening candlelight created a relaxing ambiance. The high-tech tablet ordering system worked well. I appreciated being able to see an accurate picture of each dish as well as ingredients lists. There was a satisfying variety of sushi dishes on the menu, incorporating unusual flavours. You could taste the high-quality ingredients. The food portions were moderate. The cocktails were slightly expensive but delicious. Attention to detail was apparent throughout meal. I would recommend the Forest Haze Salad in terms of exquisite taste and beautiful presentation. Overall, we had a fun dining experience that I would be eager to repeat. Oliver Maki is suitable for all appetites, from a light bite to a luxury feast.
Great food - very fresh but very expensive. Good service
Food was really high quality and forward thinking. If you are looking for a traditional sushi experience don’t come here, but if you are willing to try a sushi inspired experience of fine food, the menu will not disappoint. Excellent service from friendly waiting staff too.
I picked Oliver Maki at random, wanting a Japanese restaurant for a party of 4 for lunch in Soho that was handy for us to get to a meeting straight afterwards. What a great surprise! Really tasty food, interestingly presented, with excellent service. The prices are reasonable, given the high standard of the food, and we left for our meeting feeling satisfyingly well-fed, but not overfed.
Superb food. Simply flawless.
Absolutely overrated and food below average. Not recommended at all.
Went for a birthday dinner-the food was all really tasty.
Think the iPad menu to order from is a little unecessary, and difficult to order multiples of the same dish.
Defo recommend the chocolate garden for dessert-delicious!
Worth every penny. The sashimi Tacos and Wagyu beef aburiNigiri is a must try!
So friendly, nice and professional staff!
The food was spectacular! Perfect for date night or a catch up with friends. Loved this restaurant. I will be coming back on many occasions to try everything on the menu.
I had to reschedule twice and staff were very helpful on this matter despite being busy.
Our waiter helped us through the menu allowing us to select excellent dishes.
Great food great staff highly recommend if you want a night to get to know the other person
Great experience! The food was amazing and the service was great. I had a lovely time and would definitely go back!
A hidden gem worth exploring. Food divine, taste, presentation and quality. Service second to none without being overbearing. Will be back and recommend to others
Delicious innovative Japanese food, attentive service
I absolutely loved the service and the food was outstanding! I hadn't eaten Japanese food in almost ten years because of a bad experience and this completely changed my mind about it. I will definitely recommend Oliver Maki to both friends and relatives and visit myself again in the future.
Food was delicious but expensive for a fairly ordinary ambience. Ordering system on iPad is all very modern but felt somewhat intimidating and time consuming. But the food was great .
Great food and great service. I would highly recommend to my friends. I look forward to going back.
The food was amazing! All from starter to dessert. I especially recommend the desert or any of the specials of the maki stuff on the menu. Aks for recommendations. The venue it self was a bit cheap and in need of work though. A place with great food and good service, but not a place to take anyone to impress.
We couldn’t have enjoyed our visit more. This was not my first trip, but even my family were impressed by the variety of mouth watering and creative dishes that we couldn’t stop ordering! The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly, showed great knowledge of the food as well as the story of Oliver Maki. We particularly enjoyed some of the complimentary dishes they offered that night to celebrate our mother before Mother’s Day, everything was incredible, which is why we always make this a regular visit.
Unwrapping the letter from our midwife telling us the sex of or baby!! And my wife Birthday!
Beyond impressed. And I thought I had outstanding sushi dinners in NY, London and Boston, this is by far one of the best.
Loved the food and upstairs was a nice and elegant atmosphere. There was a strange booking system that was confusing but it didn't detract from the evening at all as the service was excellent.
Very good and attentive service; interesting and tasty food; however this restaurant is way overpriced for what it is. The restaurant is small and not particularly fancy inside. It is one of the few restaurants in the busy Soho area on a Friday night which still had plenty of tables available, and its clear to see why - the prices are exorbitant. Our group of friends, who had a meal and 2 drinks each, ended up with a bill of 75 per head. We are used to this in London, but you would expect a far more "Fancy" experience for this kind of money. Surrounding restaurants in Soho have much better ambience and equally good food for the 40-50 pound a head mark. If this restaurant can adjust its prices, I would definitely go back.
This was my second time visiting this restaurant within a month. The first was to celebrate my Fiance's Birthday and the second was to celebrate my mum's birthday! I requested for the restaurant to prepare a little surprise for us if possible and they at the end of our meal, they sent us a well-decorated signature dessert of theirs! The Matcha Tiramisu dessert they sent for my Fiance's birthday was on the house, which was a very sweet gesture. However, during my second visit to the restaurant for my mum's birthday, they did charge us for the little dessert which I didn't mind too much as it was less than a tenner. Overall, the service was great, food was amazing and we had such a good time at Oliver Maki! I will definitely go back again!! :)
The vegan food is delicious. I just wish there were more vegan dishes on the menu. We had one of everything, but it would be great to have more choice. For example the black sesame bread without egg and misu butter without dairy would be great. The tofu katsu curry without dairy. It is so easy to veganise recipes. But the food was exceptional and I go there every time I visit London. I would recommend it to everyone. But especially to vegans who love a delicious meal and are sick of all the falafels on offer every where else.
Eating at Oliver Maki transcends the usual dining experience. It is more of a culinary journey and a real delight to all senses. The food is exquisite, bold, innovative and simply impeccable. The fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean elements leaves a taste that is unmatched by any other sushi restaurant I have been to. I always start off with their filo shrimp tempura; beautifully breaded shrimps with filo and dipped into an amazing sauce. I then follow with the shrimp tacos. I could easily live off these for the rest of my life. The Zaatar edamame and padron peppers are to die for and one of my favourite snacks ever. And just when you think you have had enough, the real treat starts with the sushis and makis. Best quality fish ever paired with incredible sauces, including plum sauce, olive oil and unexpected elements such as truffle. The sushi leaves an unforgettable aftertaste that lasts for a few hours and leaves me a very happy man. Even their gin and tonic with rosemary is the smoothest Gin and Tonic I have ever had in London. The location is perfect, ambiance is cosy and light and service is incredibly attentive. This place is my favourite in London; a real gem. Forget about Nobu and Zuma; this is the best Sushi restaurant in London.
Great food and great services!
But the matcha tiramisu was not tasted as I expected.
Lovely friendly service. Loved being able to see pictures of the dishes on the menu with the iPads issued to us.
Went for lunch for my friend's birthday. The food looks okay though it was tasty. The service was average. Nothing special.
Food is good...but not worth the very high prices. In addition, they put an automatic gratuity on the check...and then DON'T TELL YOU ABOUT IT! I'm sure half their diners are tipping double because they don't even realize it is happening.
Very artistic and tasteful japanese food. The cuisine is very different from the usual sushis we can eat everywhere.
An explosion of flavours! The food was incredible and the restaurant has a lovely chilled ambience. The only (slight) drawback is the menu which comes on iPads and simply has too much to choose from, although it's handy that you can see a photo of each dish (which comes looking exactly how it is shown in the picture).
Really lovely lunch with great sushi. The waiter was very friendly and helpful
Deliciously fresh sushi and sashimi. My only criticism would be that it was very slow. We went for a pre-theatre meal so needed to be away quickly. Took nearly 40 minutes from the time of ordering to getting the food which we then had to wolf down in 5 minutes - not great. However, the food itself was delicious and beautifully presented. Maybe go if you aren’t in a rush!
Amazing Atmosphere, incredible food, volcano maki my favourite!! The staff are so kind
This was my second time visiting Oliver Maki, after having thoroughly enjoyed my first visit this was disappointing. The restautant was not too busy but food seemed to take ages to come out. Our second round of Tacos were cold and some of the vegetarian dishes were over priced. Though staff were lovely and helpful, I won't be returning in a hurry.
The service and the food was phenomenal. Our server was very good and explained everything well.
Food was amazing, the desserts are very creative and excellent.
