Great omakase experience - next time, we will endeavor to sit at the counter. Summer highlights include the nodoguro (black throated sea perch), melt in your mouth hotate (scallop), and kamasu (barracuda). The hot-and-cold aji (sashimi, ochazuke) amuse bouche was a good intro to the flavor and texture forward nature of this omakase, and the milk pudding (adzuki paste, creamy matcha) was a refreshing close. Looking forward to our next visit.
We really enjoyed the experience! Would highly recommend and go back.
Every piece of fish was amazing. Never had a better experience in my life. Only issue was I didn't realize it was upstairs
If you can spend a little extra to sit at the sushi bar the chefs are incredibly friendly and take the time to explain and offer opinions. Really great time would highly recommend.
So happy to find Chef Kei after Covid!! Every bite was delicious and we can’t wait to come back!
Took my sister that was visiting town to Shiro’s and it was incredible! Chef Kei and Abbie was friendly and personable with us throughout the experience. The ingredients were fresh and great quality.
10/10 would go again!
One of the best sushi I ever had in NY and everywhere in fact. It is traditional sushi extremely well done. I travel to Japan regularly and it matches the best sushi I had in Japan and certainly among top 1-2 I ever had in NY. It is traditional , focused on the pure taste of amazing fish with a few originals like smoked Madacascar tiger prawn for example. The Akami is as good as in Japan, a rarity in NY. Worth every penny. It is hard to find as it is inside another sushi restaurant upstairs. You have to walk in and ask. Google Shiro Sushi NyC
Excellent service, intimate setting. Located on second floor if Tenzan. Chef came to each table at the end to ask how the meal was. We did not do the $140 21 course but rather the $95 16 course which involved dining at individual tables. Food was delicious, excellent quality.
Absolutely stunning fish and sushi done by the impeccable Kei Yoshino
really loved it, great value for the amount and quality, basic prepared but incredibly fresh and delicious.
Great! Enjoyed the night
Lovely experience for our anniversary. very cool pop up concept. Very satisfying meal with some adventurous bites. a true foodie experience. the chef definitely loves his art. we found the execution to be more on the traditional side and about the fish, which we love. too many Omakases are going for more americanized experiences where the fish becomes an ingredient in a bite and not the centerpiece. we enjoyed talking to the chef throughout the meal and learned a great deal about the craft. The chef was extremely attentive and made pieces specifically for my wife (who is mostly a vegetarian) and not as adventurous as myself when he saw the kinds of pieces she enjoyed and the ones she was more hesitant to try. I LOVED the subtle use of salts, smoking, dabs of sauce as you could really start to enjoy the nuances of the fish types and preparations. Very gifted chef that I will be following around the city! so happy new york is embracing Omakases. POP UPS are SO COOL
Excellent new omakase in traditional style and superb service. Definitely will visit again!
If you are looking for a traditional Edomae style Omakase, then you are choosing the right spot. They only serve the freshest fish of the day, which carefully selected by the Head Chef himself. Impeccable service with attention to detail.
One of the best sushi place in the city. Good selection of japanese fish, great chef, and good service.
Definitely will be back for more.
The place it’s on 2nd floor and located inside another restaurant called Tenzan. One of the hidden gem in UWS.
Food was very delicious, nice presentation and very fresh.
Price is very reasonable nonetheless the service it’s provided by Sam was very pleasant. Would definitely come again.
very intimate setting. amazing sushi.
Not many places offer omakase reservations for one, so I was so happy that Omakase Shiro did. It really gave the best start to my weekend. The staff and Chefs were so nice and it really my my solo experience very wondering. It is a bit loud from the space down stairs but ultimately that didn’t matter because my belly was so full of delicious snacks! Will definitely be coming here again.
