I have visited here a few times. Food is always tasty but service can sometimes be a bit slow. I was shown to my table by Pedro, nice and friendly. I was meeting my friend for lunch. The service was really really slow. When we were eventually asked for our order by a blonde girl with pigtails we then ordered drinks. Food came quickly but had to wait for the drinks. Food was delicious, steak pie was superb. No one came to clear the plates away. We both wanted to order coffees. After waiting for about 20 minutes. I got up to try and get someone’s attention. I spoke to the same girl and asked for coffees. We waited another 25 minutes and still no coffee or plates cleared away. We were busy talking so didn’t realise how long it was. I got up again to find out about the coffees. Got hold of Pedro who took the order and brought the coffees over quickly. When we wanted to pay we didn’t want to wait to try and get hold of anyone for the bill. No one came near us, so we walked to the till. Nice food but service needs looking at. Staff didn’t seem too busy except Pedro.

Visited this restaurant for the first in a very long time. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was of a high quality and lots of it. Very good value for money! I will certainly keep this in my list of places to eat in West Lothian! Thank you!

Lovely afternoon tea, cakes & sandwiches were amazing. Very nice table set up and staff were really friendly. The only one criticism I have is that I had two 7 year old children with our party and they ate from our afternoon tea as there was plenty but it would have been nicer if there was a more simpler/smaller children’s version of the afternoon tea they could have had, as they weren’t overly keen on the more sophisticated cakes. Apart from that, it was fab. Will defo be back and would recommend.

Was disappointed there was no Shiraz at 6 pm on a Saturday Ordered chicken and honey glazed ham salad , the salad came with no ham I did speak to a waitress who was helpful and did bring me out boiled ham . Salad presentation wasn't the best.

Lovely afternoon tea at the Hillcroft. The service was excellent. Only negative was that the sausage rolls were a little dry but everything else was perfect! We will be back as my daughter spied another table having dessert and its seemingly "something she must try!" .

Unfortunately food was really poor. Sandwiches tasteless and salad on plate wilted …did raise this and was not taken on board, ordered a specialty tea and was not offered sugar or milk had to hunt somebody down and even then they looked at me as if I had two horn. Shame as I was looking forward to lunch but was left very disappointed ☹️

I ordered the crispy sweet chilli chicken salad. The chicken was cooked lovely, however the plate was swimming in sweet chilli sauce to the point it was not enjoyable and I couldn't taste the salad. I did explain this to the staff and they dealt with the situation very promptly and professionally. The chef even agreed and we were not charged for this meal. The starters and my partners steak were all lovely. If getting this salad in future I would ask for the sauce to come separately!

Had hot smoked salmon as starter which was tinned salmon with lump of creme fresh on top served on brioche alongside limp boring salad. Main was burger and chips ,burger was ok but needed better relish and better presentation chips were cheap frozen and not good

We would love to be able to serve proper homemade chips with all of our meals however we do not have the fryer capacity to satisfy demand.
