Second dining at Ophelia’s, once for brunch and second time for dinner. The brunch pancakes were the best I’ve had, light and flavorful. Scallops at dinner were delicious and well prepared. All four of us at dinner commented on how much we enjoyed our entrees, all fish dishes. Our waiter was helpful and attentive despite being the only one serving on the middle of the week night. Will definitely return.
Horrendous service. Disorganized, unfriendly and just a mess in general.
We met for brunch with friends from ND. They missed sea food and Olphelia’s had a lot of interesting options.
Enjoyed the scallops, though the room was a little chilly. We'll go back again.
The food was amazing and the service was great. I highly recommend for brunch on the patio which is heated during the winter.
The food was outstanding, and our server was very attentive. Highly recommend!
Excellent food, ambiance, and service. I really enjoy my dining experiences at Ophelia's.
We were a fairly large party and were seated in the outdoor patio. It was equipped with heaters but they were not turned on. We had to ask several times for staff to turn them on. They also had the ceiling fans going which made it cold as well. Our server was delightful and made up for the temperature but in future I would suggest pre heating the area if it’s to be utilized. It really took away from the overall experience. It’s a great little place that I will visit again especially when it’s warmer
We had brunch. The food was good, the bloodymarys were disappointing. There were served in small glasses, no garnishes, not even a celery stick and no depth of flavor. The eggs for the eggs Benedict were perfectly poached and tasty.
The food and service were amazing. I found the restaurant by pulling up the best seafood restaurants near where we live and Ophelia’s was the first to pop up. I had the flounder stuffed with shrimp and crabmeat and was able to change my vegetable from cauliflower to broccoli. My husband had the jambalaya. We only had one issue and it was the drink he ordered which he didn’t like but our waiter Alonzo was glad to get him a different drink. We will be going back and have told our friends and family about the restaurant. THUMBS UP 👍
Our waiter was not attentive. Never came back to offer us additional drinks. He did give my boyfriend some crackers because he was not feeling well. We had to track him down for the check. The place wasn’t even crowded. He seemed confused and was getting orders wrong.
Love Ophelia’s! The roasted calamari was a little fishy, but otherwise no complaints. Big fan.
Great brunch menu and great atmosphere. The outdoor seating area was warm with the heaters on but it is in between fall and winter. The food was excellent. Will be back for dinner.
Came inside and there was no greeting from the server at all.
Sat there unattended for about 5-6 minutes.
Server was wearing a bandage on hand and had dirty fingernails.
We got up, left and went to Matchbox
Our meal and service was wonderful. Staff was helpful, menu choices great and food prep nicely done
Everything was outstanding from the food to the service. My brother really enjoyed his birthday celebration!
I thought I had found an hidden gem. I expected a four or five Star dining experience with drinks created by a mixologist and delicious food created by a Chef. Instead, I am not sure if the quality of the food was subpar (such as, boxed/frozen) and/or the preparer was an individual, who lacked culinary training. This was the equivalent of what you receive at Red Lobster or Ruby Tuesday.
The service was excellent. The food was delicious. Pricey but so worth it.
We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant as we had not been here before. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere casual and comfortable.
Food was really good. The place is not fancy which is surprising for Capitol Hill
Awesome service and great happy hour specials.
Very good meal, with options for everyone.
Excellent food. Crab bisque was outstanding. Nice walk to the ballpark.
Corkage fee for champagne is $20 a bottle. I asked if I could purchase champagne at the restaurant? Response: we have sparkling wine. I ordered an appetizer, roasted calamari, from the menu. My friend's appetizer came out while I sat waiting. Ten minutes later, I called the waiter to ask for my appetizer. The waiter then informed me they did not have anymore roasted calamari. I then order fried calamari, which came 5 minutes later. It was pre- cooked.
To be honest, I don't even remember my main dish. However, I was so hungry, and it took so long, we finished our meals and left.
It wouldn't be fair to give a poor or negative rating, as we weren't actually able to eat at Ophelia's on Sunday due to a neighborhood power outage. HOWEVER, it would have been nice to have received a text message from the restaurant telling us that the restaurant was closed prior to us arriving there. We might have been able to make different arrangements rather than walking around the Eastern Market area looking for dinner.
The mussels and scallops were amazing! My date and I throughly enjoyed ourselves with the food and drinks. We definitely plan on coming back again in the near future!
Food was very good, the waiter forgot to place the order for our appetizer, and his description of the dinner special, while it was delicious, wasn’t a correct representation of what was served.
Overall, food was very good.
The selection and food were excellent. We ate on the patio which was very nice. Very little noise from the streets. The hostess was very friendly when we arrived and our server was excellent. We had the salmon and the scallops and s cup of crab bisque. All of which were delicious. We would definitely go back when in the area.
Nice place with outdoor terrace serving delicious seafood meals. Staff is very attentive and the menu is rich with dishes from salmon to oysters. We had sea bass and crab cakes, highly recommend.
Great location and really nice atmosphere...unfortunately, nothing else was quite right. The service was so slow that the owner wound up taking care of our table. Everything was a bit off...our appetizer came, but no app plates. It went on like this all night. The food was exceptionally average at best...everything tasted like it had come off of a grill that hadn’t been cleaned, and my wife’s crab cakes were over cooked. Our son’s steak, on the other hand, was under cooked, but only in spots. I suspect it was frozen and was not fully thawed when it was put on the grill. The owner really wanted things to go well, but they just didn’t, and ours was not the only table with this kind of experience. I don’t see us going back.
Great brunch menu and food quality. Service needs some fixing and training. They’re very nice but not completely competent.
The snapper was amazing! However the jambalaya was subpar (if you’re from the south and know what jambalaya should taste/look like). The drinks were great and the inside wasn’t noisy.
My Mom and I visited Ophelia's while on a trip to DC. We were staying in the Capitol Hill area and were looking for restaurants which would have good options for my Mom, who is gluten-sensitive. We decided to make reservations for 6:15pm but got there a little early. We were seated right away inside, which is exactly where we wanted to sit. It was a very humid, hot day and we desperately wanted the air conditioning. Their inside seating area is not very large, and most of the patrons coming in without reservations had to find a seat at the bar or outside. The outside patio looked lovely, but just too hot. The food was fabulous! We started with the roasted calamari, which was not too chewy and was served with a delicious broth. My Mom had the scallops with corn salsa and I had the jambalaya. Both meals were perfect and filling. The only downside to our visit was that after I got our bill, it took a very long time for someone to come and retrieve my payment. Our waitress was very pleasant but it seemed that she stopped waiting on us half way through our meal. She continued to work the table next to us, but someone else had to provide our bill and take it. Overall, I would come back and enjoy another meal here.
Great place to eat, and a cool bar with a giant fish tank! Good price and portions, much better than Hanks.
Excellent seafood in a casual environment! We had a group of 8 and they accommodated us wonderfully. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back.
Fantastic food and recipes. The price is incredibly low for the quality, quantities and flavors we got. If I lived in DC this would be a regular weekly stop for our family.
Food was fantastic. We got a bad waitress that distracted from the quality of the meal.
Food was delicious! Oysters were fresh and clean. We will definitely visit again.
Delightful little restaurant. The meal exceeded our expectations. We both had the swordfish, which was impeccably cooked and delicious. Would definitely dine there again if in the area. We enjoyed their outdoor seating area.
