This is a fantastic hotel in a stunning location. The hotel team were absolutely lovely, the Orchid Room Manager took time to give us a tour of the hotel which is truly beautiful. The staff were all smiling, happy and obviously enjoying their work. We booked for afternoon tea which was excellent, always offering more sandwiches and anything else we needed, nothing was too much trouble. The exterior of the hotel is extremely impressive especially at this time of year with the Christmas lights. We will be booking in Spring/Summer to have tea on the beautiful terrace (and having lunch in the Moreish Restaurant very soon!). I would highly recommend a visit, it really is quite stunning.

Excellent afternoon tea. The tea room was beautifully decorated and had a lovely ambiance. The attention to details from the staff was exemplary. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and they made us feel very spoilt. Thank you.

The drive up to the hotel is beautiful. We were greeted by Tony at the door who was very friendly and helped my parents out of the car. The Orchid room is beautifully decorated and our table had a view of the gardens. The tea set is made just for the hotel and very pretty. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. The ambience was good but that could have been due to it only being half full. The sandwiches and tea were lovely. The only disappointment was the size of the scones and 2 of the cakes were underwhelming. I've had nicer afternoon teas food and paid a lot less. That said, my Parents were very impressed and enjoyed their afternoon.

My friend phoned ahead advising that she can’t eat cheese , mayonnaise or cream . She is not allergic she just doesn’t like these foods . However when we sat down she was presented with everything that she didn’t want despite her reminding the person at the front desk of her requirements which had been noted on the system . The restaurant manager was very apologetic and served us with copious amounts of rose and did not charge my friend but that is not what she wanted . She would have been content just to have food that she was happy to eat This was our 5th visit to the Fairmont ( Moreish x2 , Spa and 2 visits to the Orchard Tea room . Unfortunately on 4 out of the 5 visits we left disappointed although I have to say some of the staff are amazing but an awful lot are not .

Really nice, ambience and the service was good. The only thing that I think let it down was the food. It was lovely just not £160 (for 2) lovely, in my opinion. I've had far nicer afternoon teas for a fraction of the price.

A beautiful setting both on arrival through beautiful gardens. Staff at every point on contact greeted you, & made sure you were both warmly welcomed. And directed the right place. The restaurant was lovely with stunning view over the garden. In fact we moved to an outside table for a last drink. Celebrating 2 birthdays we were presented with a delicious small desert.

Federica and Bryn who looked after us were both so friendly and professional. A credit to the Fairmont. We had the loveliest afternoon celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and they made it so special. The afternoon tea was excellent.

I really wanted this place to be great but it just lacked the touch of class that the great places have. We went at lunch time but had the afternoon tea menu. Staff were friendly enough but seemingly lacked professional training and this manifested itself as a number of missteps in serving the meal. The food itself was nice enough but had no wow factor. Price is highish for afternoon tea but not outrageous. Ambience was a bit flat. It was ok but I can’t imagine we will go again.

The ambience was great but let down by the service. The waiter was spilling drinks on the table and overall I didn’t find the staff very attentive. Didn’t explain that we could have refills and felt that we were forgotten after the cakes were served after the initial rush to get our tea and sandwiches consumed. The tea room seemed very cramped and lost the intimate setting for a table of 2. It became too loud during the time we were there and sitting so close to other tables didn’t help enjoy our experience. Afternoon tea was nice so sadly let down by the service

Sandwiches were lovely, the cakes were not too sweet and sticky. You could have a mixture of different teas. If you want an alcoholic drink and you have not booked for one you can. The scenery is beautiful and the Orchid room was clean and relaxing. The waiter was very tentative.

The food quality and presentation was fantastic reflecting the King’s Coronation. All the staff were friendly and attentive, though sadly there was a shortage of staff resulting in a slower service than expected.

We were greeted nicely at the entrance and also upon arriving at the Orchid Tea Room. Our seats given to us were not that great and the chairs were low and uncomfortable after sitting in them for over an hour. We received our tea first and then our sandwiches. It felt like we were being rushed as we just got our sandwiches and within 5 minutes we were asked if it was okay to bring the cakes. So by the time we had finished sandwiches our scones were cold. It also felt very noisy because of the amount of people and it made it difficult to hear the lovely pianist which was a shame. We waited over 20 minutes to get noticed by staff to ask for the bill. Overall the hotel is stunning and food was good but not sure I will be coming back again.

The Orchid Room was lovely and their Afternoon Tea was exceptional. I am American and I have started to really appreciate a proper Afternoon Tea. The Orchid Room really delivered. The room was beautiful and the tea delicious! The food was very good and great value for the price. I would return any time I'm visiting the area. The staff were so professional, even the hotel valet attendants. 5⭐️

I had afternoon tea for my son’s birthday. Despite my message on my booking that I need a high chair and it’s my baby’s 1st birthday, nothing was prepared. Staff weren’t particularly friendly (not only in the restaurant but across the hotel) although it was an Easter weekend. The hotel (exterior and interior) were amazing and food was excellent!

My mum and I loved our afternoon tea at The Orchid Tea Room. The selection and quality of sandwiches, pastries, scones, cakes and teas was second to none. Our waitress was polite and attentive. The only thing we couldn’t get used to was the soulless nature of the hotel.. it was almost too perfect and, as a result, missing a little bit of character.
