Origins Wine Bar and Restaurant
My husband and I booked for valentines evening usually a recipe for disaster not so at Origins.
We arrived a little early and were greeted at the door and shown to a sofa were we enjoyed a cocktail until our table became available.
Once shown to our table we found it difficult to make a choice as there were many nice things on the menu however having made our choices were not disappointed....our starter of the shared meat/cheese platter and my scallopini was delicious.
We could not fault the service, food or ambience of Origins so much so that I’ve booked a ‘girly’ birthday lunch there.
What a welcome addition to Great Missenden.
Fantastic, love the new menu
Very lovely to receive a rose at the end for valentines
Food very nice and decor excellent. Only disappointment was that we hadn’t realised the menu had changed and we can expecting the ‘old’ tapas menus. We booked specifically for that, not knowing the menu and format had changed in January. Maybe a little more notice via open table booking to let that information known.
My friends and I enjoyed the new style menu and would definitely come again.
Good food all round.
Maybe to consider better ambience with more refined music to fit the mood and food.
We have booked again for a small family party next Sunday. The result of our first visit! We needed an Italian in the village, well done.
Great, relaxing lunch. Stunning.
Why oh why did they change it from Tapas to Italian. Its lost a lot of its ambience and energy. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their drinks but there are a lot of Italian restaurants. We were all disappointed the Tapas had gone, we used to really love sitting drinking and having well prepared, lovely unusual dishes. Probably won't be back for food but my party loved their gon and tonics.
I liked the new decor.
The food was a long time coming, but was good
Great evening at Origins. The food was lovely and our servers just the right side of helpful without being obtrusive. Sorry to hear that it will no longer serve tapas. Hope the Italian will be just as yummy.
The atmosphere was perfect. An excellent menu with dishes for all tastes nothing disappointed and lots blew our taste buds. Can't wait to return.
We had the Christmas menu - each element of each dish was gorgeous. Really appreciated the time and effort each chef must have gone through to produce something this tasty and well presented
Front of house staff were very attentive and friendly
Really lovely food and service. Great range of tapas covering all tastes. Slightly more expensive than others but worth it!
Great food as always and staff are committed to equally good service. Good gin menu too. But really disappointed that restaurant is reinventing itself to serve Italian in the new year. Potential loss of usp in my view.
Food preparation was very good with excellent flavours and attractive presentation. The only problem was that small dishes of tapas cool very quickly and soon become less palatable. This detracts from the pleasure of the experience and could be avoided by the provision of small devices to keep the dishes hot. The alternative of serving the dishes sequentially is probably impossible for this business and might not be acceptable to the British public.
My mums 84th birthday, great food and service
Chef on duty surprised us with some dishes not on the menu (did ask if ok first) which were fantastic. Mixture of Spanish and Asian.
Our first visit to Origins and we enjoyed a really pleasant meal on Saturday evening. The food was imaginative, well presented and there was a good range of tapas to choose from. The restaurant is modern and well lit with a welcoming atmosphere. Service is prompt and non intrusive. We will be returning as we enjoyed our meal so much.
Great meal, Great attentive service and great venue, Highly recommended
Never disappointed, fantastic food
Great ambience, lovely helpful staff
Great evening was had by all
Great personal service. Food was delightful - as always.
Would highly recommend you visit.
Superb food in a lovely atmosphere and the service was great!
It's a while since we have been to Origins but we were delighted that it has maintained it's standards. We were made very welcome and the food was excellent. It was a wet Sunday afternoon and the place was quiet but the overall ambience was excellent. Thanks to all the staff.
Lovely venue, service and the vegetarian tapas selection was great.
Recommend a visit!
Booked window table for treat for my other half as a special date , bit disappointed when we didn't get that table and was sat touching chairs with a big noisy birthday party .. having said that moved our table for us in the end and the food & service was actually amazing !! TAPAS are sooo tasty and plenty of food , defo go again x
Enjoyable evening with great service and delicious food!
Booked table for evening but only told after ordering that we had to vacant the table within 2 hours of booking time due to the table being reserved by someone else afterwards. This should have been said at time of booking. Bottles beer only.
Simply brilliant, as always. Love this place. Good size portions which can be a problem with tapas restaurants sometimes. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Went on a Monday lunchtime, one other table so not much atmosphere. Chose sharing fish platter, £30 not enough for two, over priced
Service was fantastic. We were transferred to a more suitable table once it became available. Food arrived quickly and the dishes are varied and easily accommodated my vegan diet. Tip: ask for your dishes to be staggered, otherwise you may complete your meal very quickly. Slow down to enjoy each dish. Our experience was only slightly marred by a very enthusiastic and noisy table next to us. The noise levels were very high!
First visit and found it nice and open and bright. The food and service were fantastic and good value. We will return. Thank you
Good variety of dishes well cooked and presented to a very high standard by helpful and attentive staff
My wife and I enjoyed an excellent meal on Saturday evening at Origins. We noticed that others seemed to be receiving their food ahead of us (a particular bug bear of mine) and that it was taking a little too long to be served. However, we received a fulsome apology and an explanation with which I was happy.
When the food arrived, it proved very well worth the wait, we both enjoyed every dish and they were all very well presented. We didn't really leave enough room for dessert but decided to share the Lemon and Mango Tart - had we know how good it was going to be, despite being full, we would have had one each, it was absolutely lovely.
All in all, after a slightly shaky start, we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal accompanied by a nice Riesling.
Lots of smiley, hard-working staff added to the experience.
It's not cheap for Tapas but I did think it represented pretty good value.
Ten out of ten
Delicious food, lovely service and great wine list. Definitely be back.
We made a reservation and on arrival were given a very small table right by the door. When we asked to be moved to one of the empty tables, we were told that they were for people with reservations. I couldn't follow the logic that, despite having a reservation, we didn't count. Perhaps they were operating the 'beautiful people' policy of only putting certain people by the windows.
Love this restaurant, food amazing as always, fab service, highly recommend.
A lovely relaxed place with lovely food. Most enjoyable with great cocktails.
Always enjoy your food however the crostini aubergine dip was far too salty as were the chips with the fish coujons. It was my birthday and I had hoped for a spoil of some sort which never happened.
I thought the staff and service was outstanding. However the food was a mixed bag with some of the dishes a bit too salty or lacking punch. However the drinks choice was excellent. Dining area felt a little sterile and the table was too small for this type of dining.
