Osteria Romana has been selected as one the best Italian restaurants in London by the Gambero Rosso eminent guide.
Taste is not good at all
Ambience and atmosphere is nice but the food taste is not that hood at all
Great traditional Italian food
Having arrived on time for our booking we were left waiting 20 minutes, standing by the door. Three separate waiters informed us "two minutes" in the time we were waiting.
At the time of my booking I informed them I am lactose intolerant and when ordering off the menu I order something clearly marked non-dairy. My started arrived smothered in shavings of Parmigiano. Having pointed out this to the waiter and mentioning also the menu stating it was dairy-free he told me to just remove the shavings with my knife!
I would describe our "waiter" rather as an Uber-driver who finished his shift early and came by to help out on a busy night! When I asked for more bread as the bread with my starter was rock-hard (genuinely it was the same as a moretti biscuit), the waiter poked it with his finger before dealing with my request!
The main was well cooked but by now we could not wait to leave and did in fact consider leaving before our starter or possibly after our starter. Suffice to say we did not order desert. In fact my wife and I did discuss the idea the waiter would stick his finger in a sorbet to prove it had no cream!
Overall the food was okay and the chilled red win an oddity! However, the entire evening was simply dreadful from having to stand in a doorway for 20 minutes through to service that defies the meaning of the word. In short - dreadful!
Our first time and our excitement for evening lived up to expectations. The restaurant has a lovely chilled feel and our service was on point and the fresh basil cut at the table with olive oil and the freshest bread was an unexpected bonus ....
I rarely have pasta out unless at a top Italian ...and the fettuccine I had was delicious.
My Gf & I will definitely be going again as Osteria Romana is certainly a little jewel tucked away in Knightsbridge
Intimate atmosphere, delicious food, friendly service. The perfect date night. Highly recommend, A+
First time in this place and enjoyed the simple and fresh food they provided wines offered were a little expensive. Good selection but all started around the same price and went up! Very nice all in all though
They have a food so great that it makes you want to learn Italian.
Super good food, service and whole experience. For sure coming again
I reviewed the reviews and thought this place was going to be awesome. When we arrived it was smaller and quainter then I expected. And I was a little concerned until we met Eliza! Wow! She was the best! And then the food - sooooo good! The spaghetti carbonara is as good as they say! Quiet, quaint, cozy and such good food! Then we met Fulvio - what a combo - Eliza and Fulvio made our dinner so amazing!!!!! Can’t wait to come back! Felt like you were in Roma!
Best Italian restaurant of London. Amazing food and service
Absolute gem, tucked away in a small alley across Hyde Park. We visited it before heading to Winter Wonderland. The food is authentic Italian, and pasta some of the best I've had - and I've had many in Italy.
Recommends it for anyone who loves Italian food.
This restaurant, located on a quiet alleyway in Knightsbridge, is a charmer. Excellent food and superb wine choices by glass or bottle.
I had to remind the wait staff about everything multiple times before they would bring it. Also, having spent a lot of my life in Italy, especially Rome, the amatricana shouldn’t be served with so much cheese from the get go, I don’t like a cheesy amatricana, but they had a mountain already on there. I think you should try the sauce without the cheese to know if it’s good! Also it was served at an ambient temperature so the cheese didn’t even melt. The reviews were better than the yield.
Very slow service. Does not meet value for money
Great quality food!
Delicious authentic Italian food, nice staff, cute setting. Highly recommend!!
Overall not a fantastic experience. Visited this Italian restaurant for my partner’s birthday. Since the beginning we’ve been told if we were sure to order because there was a problem in the kitchen. Staff no smiling and quite clumsy, evident lack of experience. Food nice but nothing special, easy to find it for a lower price in other restaurants. I would no suggest it.
Extremely rude staff, not in the slightest bit child friendly. Drinks arrived with our mains even though we ordered as soon as we were seated.
My little boy is 6 and was extremely well behaved at the table doing crafts that he’d had from his visit to Santa. The only time he left the table was to go to the bathroom where he got in The way of the waiter and the waiter rudely shouted at him. Really not necessary. Couldn’t wait to get out of the place - was made to feel really unwelcome.
I paid the bill minus service charge as didn’t feel the service warranted it and I had 2 members of staff questioning why I wouldn’t pay an OPTIONAL service charge causing a seen in front of my little boy!!!! Not the magical Xmas weekend away we had in mind!!!
We had Bucatini and Venison Meatballs. Delicious!
Fantastic food, wine and great service. Will definitely go back soon!
I have set out my original review below. I have just received a call from the restaurant offering an apology and a free meal. I have to say that I have never been quite so humbled in my life! I have certainly never received a call from a restaurant to deal with a problem before. I have therefore revised my review to reflect the quality of the food and service as if the incident below never happened. I shall be pleased return to Osteria Romana in the future.
This was a bad experience due to the attitude of the head waiter. We were a party of four, but two of us were held up in traffic and arrived late. Our table was not ready for a quarter of an hour, but we were very rudely told that, because our companions were late we only had an hour and a half to eat. At no point prior to that had we been told there was a two hour time limit. Had I known I would not have booked. Very rude and very arrogant. I would not go back here, despite the food being good
Took ages- service appalling and food was cold. They apologised but it was already too late
The head waiter really looked after us! Great evening!
My 2nd visit. Food, service, wine all lived up to expectations. Will definitely visit again, even though it is generally more expensive than I would normally spend.
Amazing food and vibe, would recommend for any occasion
Intimate restaurant tucked away in a quiet passageway between Hyde Park and Knightsbridge Green.
The guests on the next table were Italian which tells me something.
Sembra di essere in Italia.. Complementi! La carbona e l’amatriciana erano squisite..
Amazing cute little Italian. Really authentic and food was great. Would definitely eat there again
It was amazing! Adorable location, tasty food and lovely service! I highlighted on OpenTable that it was my boyfriend’s birthday and spontaneously waiters brought a surprise birthday cake and limoncello, sooo sweet! Real Italian roman food! We will come back again very soon! Thank you Davis, Angela and Manuele for making our dinner so special!!
Poor quality food lacking in quantity, 19:00hrs on a Sat evening, I ordered fillet of beef and they didn't have any left so I had the veal meatballs which were of poor quality served on a bed of mash with a couple of garden peas (disappointing). My wife ordered a prawn pasta dish which came with a mass of pasta and 3 prawns. We had traveled all the way from the north east of England and were so much looking forward to a nice meal on the Sat evening. I had looked up the ratings on trip adviser which were really good which leads me to believe that they are writing there own reviews
Overpriced place with pasta between 15-22£ which is not fresh nor very special.
The charged 20£ per glass or red wine (where the bottle costs like 25£ in the supermarket).
The beef tartar we ordered was not good anymore so my parents got sick over night.
Really disappointed also given the place looks super charming at first and the ambiance is nice. They need a new chef and revise the cost of their food to match quality.
This place was refered by the front desk woman in our hotel and yes she was right , a small menu but worth it . nice ambiance , it's a small and cosy place , if you to be romantic it's the place.
Not much too say, everything up to the expectations. Very good restaurant
Still my favorite authentic Italian restaurant in London!
Will keep back next week.
Fulvio is great !
Excellent food all around! Eggplant parm for appetizer, then 2 pasta dishes for mains - both were HUGE and QUALITY servings! Wine selection was good, having fresh basil leaves in olive oil for dipping was great!! Got a large salad for our veggies, was so big the 2 of us couldn’t finish it! Then chocolate cake with gelato for dessert - yum!!
I’d highly recommend RSVPing to get in for dinner when you want some great Italian food and atmosphere! Next time we are in the area we will definitely come back!!
Sitio acogedor con un ambiente agradable y sin ruidos. Personal atento y correcto.
Best value for money in London! Real pasta masters here.
Amazing classical Italian restaurant. The manager Fluvio was very friendly. I celebrated my birthday and he make the experience very good. Make a compliment for us, with porchetta and dessert on the house as a gift. Meet all our expectations, the best meal we have at London.
I have been a customer from day 1. For two years this restaurant makes the best pasta in London.
Osteria Romana was amazing! So good I decided to cancel another reservation and go back here instead. The restaurant is adorable and has great ambience. The waiters are friendly and helpful. The food was original and unbelievably delicious. The gnocchi starter, the carbonara and the lava cake were the best I have had anywhere. Of a two week trip across London and Paris, Osteria Romana was my favorite. So good!
