Ox Club at Headrow House
Michelin Guide 2020 | Good Food Guide 2020
Really tasty, interesting food, good atmosphere and kind staff. There was a delay with one of the courses but the staff were very friendly and gave us desserts on the house. Would definitely recommend and will be going again!
Very friendly service, we thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. The menu was limited but very well composed with a genuinely interesting selection and combination of ingredients. We were absolutely thrilled with our choices of starters, mains and sides. Definitely recommend this lovely little restaurant if you are after a top quality meal in an intimate and friendly environment.
Exciting and imaginative menu enhanced by the ambiance.
Friendly and helpful staff who were happy to take time to explain the quirky menu.
Accept that you are paying for quality and not quantity but the scallop starter could have had a bit more scallop in it.
But definitely a great culinary experience.
Lovely food, good service, would highly recommend.
The Best Roast in Leeds
I went for Sunday Dinner with my girlfriend, and we both got the Beef - it was without a doubt the best roast I have had in Leeds, and probably ever. I am still thinking of the truffled cauliflower cheese and the bone marrow gravy now...
Hugely recommend the Sunday lunch - every element of it was individually so tasty - best Sunday lunch Ive had in a long time!!
Fabulous Sunday lunch. Well presented and everything was full of flavour
Came here for the Sunday Roast at the weekend - the food was exceptional, lovely warm and inviting atmosphere and attentive staff. The pomme anna were incredible! We both had the veggie option and left feeling STUFFED. (Great bloody marys too).
Food and service was excellent, explained every dish and also recommended dishes
The best Sunday lunch I have ever had. The food quality was immense. Best Sunday dinner in the UK for me. Really special. Worth every penny.
Amazing food. Service is always excellent too.
We had the wing rib to share with side dishes which are delicious. Love it!
Fantastic food, great staff. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.
The food was horrendous, hardly any choice on menu (for my taste), didn’t find a starter to suit so had celariac which was horrible, had brill for main course which was laced with salt, my husband had beef short rib which I could have bought from Leeds market for a quarter of the menu price. Rose wine was warm so I had to ask for ice and when I asked for the cap so I could take it with me the waitress said she’d have to hide the cap so her manager wouldn’t know, all-in-all could not recommend anything about it and it was expensive - not to be repeated, ever!
Stunning food, lovely service - couldn't ask for any more!
Food was amazing- vension was the best dish! Loved the irn bru sorbet with dessert
a drink pairing would be a welcome addition
slightly expensive in comparison to other tasting menus
The actual food for the Burns Night event was great (as it always is), but tonight seemed a little over-priced. It was sold as a Burns Night themed menu in ‘collaboration’ with Compass Box whisky. The meal was supposedly ‘paired’ with whisky (according to Leeds List), which implies that each course is paired with whisky in the same way tasting menus are often paired with wine. But the reality was that only one course (the haggis, which was amazing by the way) came with a dram and Compass Box barely featured in it’s own ‘collaboration’. Had the courses truly been paired with various drams, the £60 per head price tag would have been fair enough. However it wasn’t, and by the time the £165 bill (we had an additional bottle of wine) turned up, you couldn’t help but feel short-changed.
amazing place in Leeds would be a high hitter if in London, but its not, which is great news indeed. The only complaint i have is that i cannot cook to this standard ! We went off the Burns Night menu and it was an absolute triumph, well though out, fun, locally sourced food and fantastic service. Ill be certainly going back here. Thank you Ox Club.
Thanks so much for the lovely review, really glad to hear you enjoyed your evening
Best restaurant in Leeds in my opinion, love this place. The large cuts of meat and the smoked mash are outstanding.
Exceptional menu, produce and cooking. Professional yet informal service compliements the experience.
Delicious meal and absolutely excellent genuine service. Another great evening out at the Ox Club. Thanks again.
What lovely words. Thank you so much Hopefully see you again soon
Had a great evening and our waiter was faultless and extremely polite and pleasant, he’s a credit to the restaurant.
Brilliant service staff, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable.
Loved the ox cheek (so tender and delicious) and the Brussels especially but wasn’t keen on the cod cheek (bit too chewy)
Didn’t really enjoy the chocolate orange desert, the presentation wasn’t very appealing and not that tasty. It looked like steak somehow.
The feel to the place is nice, not keen on the toilets though.
Would visit again though,
100/100 roast. Loved the beef and the pork. Absolutely smashing it guys x
Every dish was amazing, loved it
Short but well chosen menu with a modern British twist. Everything was beautifully cooked and the staff were excellent throughout.
Fantastic food and service. Meat cooked to perfection.
Ox Club is a restaurant to return to over and over. The food is superb only topped by the service. Ox club is relaxed, no rush and smiles all around. I did miss the fresh bread with shmaltz rather than the dough balls
Thanks for the kind words Harriet, will make sure the team hear it too x
Wonderful birthday meal for my partner. The staff were laid back, friendly and welcoming and very attentive. The food was just Magnificent. Unfortunately they’d sold out of wing rib, so we ordered the 500g steak and the ox cheek, with the sprouts and smoked mash. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection. Would most definitely return.
Excellent restaurant and among the best steak I’ve eaten, service was exceptional and I loved the fact that on informing them my partner had an onion allergy they had marked the dishes she could and couldn’t have whilst also listing alternatives to the main choices - I’ve not seen a place go out of their way this much in dealing with such a good intolerance which unfortunately can ruin my partners expérience if she does indeed eat onions. Drinks were reasonably priced and the take on sprout skins was both ingenious and super tasty - in fact the only comparable composition of food I can think of is crispy seaweed! A fantastic place with a great atmosphere - very akin to being in a New York apartment with an open and visible kitchen. If you love steak this has to be on your list
Great menu ...food beautifully presented ...staff very attentive..we will be returning
Outstanding Sunday roast, the best we’ve had in Leeds... and we have been to many places! Brilliant service, cannot fault at all. Will definitely return and have recommended to lots of friends.
The celeriac pasta starter was probably the best thing I’ve ever eaten, if not ever definitely this year. All the food was delicious and the service was excellent!
Really friendly staff, great recommendations for what to choose and god atmosphere. 5/5
Lovely place and ambience. The staff are always super friendly and with good recommendations. It was a bit loud but fair enough - was friday night. Delicious combinations of food as always.
We all liked this place a lot, and I would agree that the ambience and atmosphere is great. Not pretentious and quite casual. The food was excellent-olive nibbles delicious buttery and soft with fabulous taste. Veg was great and the rib wing dish I shared was awesome! Fat was perfect and horseradish to die for. However the evening was spoiled because there was no dessert wine, port or brandy. Fair dos but the staff could and should have handled this better
Fantastic food and I would definitely come here again for a special occasion or even just a casual lunch. Food was exceptional quality and I can’t wait to come back to try more!
Another outstanding meal at the restaurant which never disappoints. I love the apparent simplicity of the food which then always over-delivers. Even as a non meat eater I struggle to choose from too many mouthwatering options. Still, what we chose was capital D Delicious. The waitress was excellent, attentive but not disruptive, completely clued up about the food and wine and charming. Back soon mmm!
Amazing food as always, had the best time - thank you all!
It was okay, flavours weren’t really there and was rather expensive for what it is, a bit hipster and pretentious. Had a much better meal at Skosh in York for nearly half the price and they have two Michelin stars.
Very enjoyable food with unusual combinations..However this was not novelty for the sake of it for the flavours were harmonious and intensely flavoured. The smaller portion combinations are an excellent idea and allow you to experience a range of the kitchen’s expertise. Service was very casual but welcoming, friendly and efficient . Wine list is relatively short but had some interesting bottles and prices are not greedy. I found the desserts I sampled from my dining companions to be over sweet. I suppose that’s down to individual taste and it didn’t detract from a most enjoyable experience.
