At Oxbow, we want you to indulge in the art of good food. We choose to play with our menu, bending traditional cuisine, letting you appreciate dining as it was meant to be... honestly uncomplicated. So stay for a little, stay for a while. Our in-hotel setting inside Hotel Arts Kensington inspires delightfully unexpected experiences, shared in both new and familiar company.
Wasn’t really busy server was pretty friendly great experience! Highly recommend!
Molly was a great server very accommodating. Maybe would just ask less to order our main. Great dinner we will def come back on fridays!
This was our second time and it did not disappoint. The ceviche scallops were amazing. One of us had the steak and the other had the Thai chicken, and both were amazing. This is possibly the most underrated restaurant in Calgary. Nice setting. Service was excellent. Limited menu, but great choices. Love it!
Super disappointing. Very little options on the overpriced menu. The dining room was bare and plain. The chefs were not wearing masks.
Great restaurant with great food!
We sat on the patio for Fathers Day brunch. It was smoking hot but the staff offered to open the canopy to create more shade which was greatly appreciated.
The brunch menu is very limited but the food is exceptional. We waited quite a while for our food but the staff did acknowledge and apologize for the wait. We were enjoying our visit so it didn't much bother us.
Would go back for a date night or family dinner as I'd love to try their dinner menu.
Amazing. We really enjoyed the food and service.
You come here for the food.
It is exceptionally good. And well priced.
The service is...Calgary normal.
Young, transient, not really into this for a career, not very knowledgeable about the menu. I miss dearly a higher culinary standard than that tolerated by Calgarians (dreams of Montreal, San Fransisco, etc).
The ambience is pretty lousy. The dining room is just this barren darm wood panelled box of a place. Playing ridiculous energetic pop music during dinner...who lacks the sensibility to do stuff like that.
Despite all this, I'll go back regularly at the lounge or the patio.
Delicious, rich, beautifully presented food. And warm but Covid-respectful service. We will definitely be back to enjoy the patio space next time!
Great night with friends and the food was fantastic!!
We were delighted with Oxbow, cheerful staff, exceptional food...hats off to Chef Myles, his food and presentation were top notch. I had the lamb shank shepherds pie and it surpassed expectations... my wife enjoying the seared salmon on green pea risotto and again, excellent. Covid precautions were in place, seating was well spaced and we felt entirely comfortable. We're coming back to enjoy the nicest patio in Calgary, right across the Bow River on Memorial.
I had the French onion soups and beef short rib. I could not taste any foie gras in the French onion soup. The beef short rib was overcooked. It was also lacking flavour and it was really dry.
There was only one server and she was amazing. At first I thought service was slow, but once I realized I was in a full dining room and she was by herself, it was actually very impressive. Food was great. Good portion sizes and not crazy expensive.
Food was pretty good. Food was extremely slow, and the dining room was quite noisy
The service was great, very noisy hard to have a conversation unless you talk over people around you. We did the yyc menu the French onion soup was very good, the beef short ribs were very tough, desert was very good. We would consider going back but it’ll be a while.
Oxbow is a gem.
Excellent, knowledgeable, attentive but not overbearing front of house staff who provide a warm and welcoming service that doesn’t step over the line of familiarity. It is no nice to find serving staff who understand the difference between a patron and a friend!
The kitchen staff is talented and inspired. The food is GOOD! I seldom come out of a calgary restaurant feeling like the food has met my expectation. I am more often underwhelmed then satisfied. Not so with oxbow. What comes out of this kitchen is the best of a cosmopolitan vision.
From the Asian inspired Duck Wings to the Greek influenced Lamb Shepard pie, the offering is solid and worth every penny. For the gluten intolerant, there are a number of possibilities. While being creative, the menu does not fall into the trap of easy trends.
If this isn’t enough to get you there, Friday night is 1/2 price on wine under 125$! Cheap and cheery Friday night!
The brunch buffet is also a great value!
Good restaurant. Fantastic food. Even better server. Thanks Jenna!!
Lovely place for dinner. We really enjoyed the food and service.
Food was excellent as was the service. Would definitely recommend! Also worth noting they accommodated a toddler and had high chairs available.
We’ve been to and enjoyed this restaurant before, but this time it was disappointing. The service was slow, and our server wasn’t very attentive. My main course (lamb shepherds pie) was way overcooked, almost like it had been forgotten at the back of the oven.
It will be a while before we revisit, if at all.
The food was delicious, but we had to stop and pickup fast food afterwards as the meal portions are very small.
We went to Oxbow after seeing a show at the Jubilee, and were offered the theatre menu, which three of us chose. The food was fantastic! We started with the bread bowl/dip, and when you can eat the entire bowl without it getting tough and chewy, that's a good bread bowl! I had the burger, which was perfect. The three of them had the beet risotto as a side to their salmon/chicken, which was amazing. And the dessert! We had the cheesecake and the creme brulee, both of which were perfect (and I'm a creme brulee snob). It was our first time, but certainly not our last. May was our server, and she was lovely. Thank you for a great dinner!
Nice, quiet intimate setting. Food was outstanding and not overly priced.
Food was amazing as usual as was the service from Jenna!
Awesome! Jenna our server was very helpful, witty and funny. Totally enjoyed her! Food was delicious!
Wonderful quality, small brunch buffet spread complimented with the included (but by order only) juice, coffee, eggs/omelets, hashbrowns. It was a great deal. Very good service. The food was flavoured well and portioned nicely. I'm gonna be back for sure. I cant wait to have brunch on their patio in the summer.
We did the set Valentines menu with wine pairings.
Fantastic food, service, ambience and noise level. One more piece of everything and it would’ve been perfect.
Had the chance to be here for Valentine's with my partner. There was a special menu and the food was lovely!
Wonderful and attentive service.
The food was good but left us hungry. Definitely not enough! Went for pizza after. Also the website did not say it was a set menu in the night we went.
We went for the special Valentines evening meal. It was very well done and delicious! I would say the pace might have been a little fast, but that can be expected depending on how close they allowed their reservations. Our server helped to slow things down a bit, and we had a great time!
Excellent food and very personal service. Not cheap but actually good value for the high quality. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great service and ambiance. The fireplace is a nice touch. The food and drinks were just fine.
Although there were Happy Hour prices in effect for wine and beer, the food was regular price making the HH bill steep.
Always have a wonderful time at Oxbow. It has a great menu, executed brilliantly by their chefs. Highly recommended.
I just want to thank Michel for he's fabulous service 10/10
Great brunch, will definitely make this a new brunch destination
I made a reservation to celebrate a birthday, I was disappointed to be sat in the lobby lounge and not in the dining room. If you are wanting to celebrate an intimate celebratory dinner do make this request when booking as it was not apparent when I booked that there was a chance of not being seated in the dining room. The food was good, we tried two different appetizers, both beef entrees (tenderloin and braised chuck) and two different desserts. The beef entrees were the highlights of our meal. On Fridays bottles of wine under $120 are half off, we decided to ask the wait staff for a recommendation but the staff didn't seem entirely familiar with the restaurant's menu.
Everything was great.
The room is beautiful and has the potential to be a fine dining experience but the food quickly destroys that possibility. The food is absolutely horrible. Unimpressive in both its presentation and taste.
It was a quiet Tuesday evening in the restaurant so noise level low and conducive to conversation. I had the shepherd's pie which wasn't as good as the last time; a bit mushy. Charcuterie board and duck wings excellent. My colleagues enjoyed the restaurant and the meal. Our waiter was very attentive.
