A nice place to get a good plate of Italian food before the theatre at the Barbican. Very friendly and helpful service.
We booked Palatino for a late lunch, a friends catch-up on the last Friday before Christmas.
The service was friendly and fun, and the dishes were excellent - every single diner commented on the quality of the food.
Rather mixed fortunes at Palatino this time. Good antipasti, very good pasta but a main course of goose leg was too salty and the accompanying red cabbage too liberally laced with vinegar. On balance still recommended but could do better.
We had a nice night at Palatino but were really disappointed by the ricotta and mushroom ravioli, it was watery and tasteless, I hope this was just a dud!
Loved the starter (anchovy and stracciatella on toast - but thought that three small pieces wasn't much for 7 pounds). The cacio pepe and choc pistachio dessert were good too. We were also really excited to find Isole Olena on the wine list, however I thought it would be getting a bit old in the bottle after 3 years.
All in all, a nice night, but not sure if we'd return as the pasta just wasn't that amazing and quite expensive. When you compare to Padella or Bancone, unfortunately Palatino doesn't stand up.
Wonderful place- great food, so fresh and full of flavour.
We shared 2 primi’s and 2 secondes and they were all great. My personal favourite was the veal pasta.
Staff were lovely and went the extra mile to help make sure we had everything we needed.
Excellent cocktail and wine list too!
As always, an excellent experience. Outstandingly good food and I love the new menu options!
Generally good food, but lacking in any finesse.
Currently no offal on menu (this restaurant purports to specialise in Roman cuisine).
Bread sticks stale.
Reasonable food service and value, but plenty of better Italian restaurants in almost any part of London
Food was not great, I was even given the wrong icecream and had to inform the waiter, and was over priced
I'd heard great things about Palatino so was excited to visit but the food was just ok and the service was chaotic - telling us certain dishes were included on the set menu and then deciding they weren't + undercharging us and then having an argument in front of us about which server's fault it was. Atmosphere is also lacking - it looks like a WeWork space rather than a restaurant which might be great if it's full but not so when it's empty.
Absolutely without doubt one of the worst meals I have ever eaten in London. Dreadful dreadful food. Does this place have a chef ? I took guests and ordered the set menu. A very big mistake. The portions were embarrassingly minute and utterly tasteless. Went to Union St Cafe the next day on a set menu - similar price. Absolutely Superb! And real plates of food.
They are trying to serve Italian food, very far away.
Service is very basic, food could be better, there is effort, but nothing wow.
Lovely quick lunch - cool space, quite delicious Italian food and excellent value for money. Quite a neighbourhood find, good spot for working lunch in Clerkenwell
I live nearby and Palatino is becoming a go-to restaurant for a relaxed meal with friends.Really friendly staff and well cooked Roman food. It can be challenging for vegans but the kitchen is flexible enough to satisfy everyone. A great local restaurant.
Ambience is nice, but food is average. Some starters like bruschette are good.
The food and service were fantastic. One notable downside that hit us immediately upon entering was the strong smell of fish. This continued throughout the dinner. We suspect the open kitchen extractor was not working as well as it should. It's a shame because the decor and everything else was lovely.
Delicious food, very good value considering the quality, excellent wine, great service, pleasant decor, comfortable seating.
Very good, modern italian restaurant in my neighbourhood. Food is very good and unusual. Cocktails are excellent twists on italian classics. Staff are friendly and passionate about the food (rightly so). Love the cacio e pepe. Would be willing to return there daily just for another mouthful.
They didn’t have my reservation on arrival but luckily it was not busy and they seated us anyway. There was also an event going on for the business space in the building which made our dinner seem like a strange off-shoot of that.
The food is very good, the service is excellent, the price is a little excessive for what it is but worth a try.
The food was ok but much more expensive than it warranted, it had a lovely simple bent to it - eg mozzarella with orange, but the ingredients didn’t live up to it. Also we were unfortunate to be there when a couple with a child were very badly behaved (not the child’s fault but truly terrible, Mirhef shouting , child clinging to my chair and waiter as I ordered), and I was disappointed that no effort was made to protect our experience there but our specific waiter was very knowledgable and courteous. If you go get a booth, sitting in the middle of the room is a bit soulless.
Lovely food and friendly service, we enjoyed it a lot!
This place is amazing the sweetest juiciest olives I've ever had and you have to try the tonnorrelli (?) pasta so simple yet so tasty! We'll be back for a sbagliato 😀
the food is just consistently great every time - we live nearby and it's become one of our regulars.
Food lived up to the critics reviews. The pasta cacio e pepe was excellent as were the rigatoni and the cod . However it took over an hour to arrive and we had to chase our food. Our table was in front of the kitchen and we all left with our clothes smelling strongly of fried fish. The smell was so over powering that it put us off the food especially desserts. It was also extremely noisy so hard to have a conversation. I'm afraid the amazing food is not enough to tempt us back.
Really enjoyed Palatino - a new local gem for workers in Clerkenwell / Old Street. Similar to the River Cafe but lots cheaper and quite a cool space too; good lunch menus for under £20
The "Rigatoni con la Pajata" is a must - rich, delicious flavour.
If you have to kill animals for food, you should at least eat everything that nature provides!
