Booked a table for 2pm. No one at the podium when we arrived, stood for a few minutes being ignored by the staff, had to approach the bar, abruptly told to just sit anywhere, what was the point in booking.

We stayed at the Municipal Liverpool for two nights due to a hospital visit. On both nights we ate at the Palm Court which was very quiet. Due to my food allergies and preferences (gluten free and no red meat) my menu choices were very limited which I understand. I enjoyed my salmon on the first night and I didn’t really mind eating the same again on the second night, although I have to say, it wasn’t as nicely cooked or presented on the second evening. It was notably greasy which was due partly to my food being piled into towers. I much prefer not having to deconstruct my meal before eating it (personal choice) and some foods, as was with this case, can contaminate rather than compliment each other. Our waiter, Ryan, confirmed it had been prepared by a different chef to the night before. For dessert I chose crème brûlée which tasted nice but it was a tiny ramakin without as much as sprig garnish, or accompaniment. Furthermore, the gluten free version comprised that ‘feeble gf offering’ of ‘just omit the biscuit! I expected more for £9, and a little more effort from a 4 star hotel. On the second night I had the poached strawberries which were really nice. On both nights we were served by Ryan who was fantastic, polite, efficient and friendly without being over familiar. Thanks Ryan.

First impressions are impressive, and you instantly feel a sense of grandeur. Staff are all friendly and attentive, and the journey to the table is efficient, drinks offered in a timely manner; wonderful wine selection and champagne available by the glass is a nice touch. I was, I must admit, a little underwhelmed with the food. After being recommended by a few friends I booked in the Palm Court - on the evening it seems we were seated in the seaforth which I assume is a different menu? The dishes in the seaforth all sounded very impressive - but failed to deliver the punch that their price tags did for me sadly. The Burratina, at £14 felt as though something was missing. The peaches were unripe, firm and bland - whilst the barrata itself - served unseasoned was more like a chore than an enjoyable first course. I left most of it, but then it was a generous portion for a starter which has to be said. On to the mains, the wait between courses was short and once again staff efficient in clearing plates, topping up water glasses and offering wine. Main was nicer than the starter for certain, however the duck breast was overcooked and a little tough. We were offered coffees and dessert menus, but opted for a nightcap instead. Cocktails are lovely and delivered to the table quickly. Facilities are all well maintained. We were asked throughout the mean how everything was - and were looked after incredibly well. It was just that the value for money did not seem there for me when it came to the dishes that I had. But, will certainly be back in even if it’s just some champagne and dessert! I wouldn’t currently recommend the venue to a friend who was looking to dine sorry, but I will certainly to anyone looking for somewhere nice to drink.

We actually booked Palm Court but didn’t realise that it’s a bar so the staff arranged a table at Seaforth which was awesome! A must visit place especially for groups. Michael Douglas looked after us so well and really spoilt our son for his graduation dinner. Well done team!

I booked Palm Court for birthday drinks and a bite to eat with friends. From the moment we stepped inside we were greeted and superbly looked after by our hosts - Alex and Ryan D who are credits to the Hotel and its restaurants. The service was professional and attentive. The cocktails and wine were outstanding and the food was delicious - I recommend the scouse and truffle fries! Both hosts really made my birthday extra special. If you want a venue with the "wow factor" and service to match this is definitely the place to go. I feel extremely fortunate to have such a venue on my doorstep and very proud. It's also so lovely that such care has gone into the building's restoration. A big "thank you" to Alex and Ryan D - we will be returning and your professionalism should be acknowledged as a benchmark!

Michael who served us was an excellent host. He was polite and made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely delicious and didn’t disappoint - the best streak we’ve tasted at a restaurant. Everything from the food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. Most definitely somewhere I would highly recommend and keep coming back to for a high class experience. Thank you!!
