The food and service were very second rate and they forgot our side dish - and then failed to deduct it from the bill. Never again!

We were University Arms Hotel guests for the weekend and based on the reviews we decided to dine at their restaurant ’Parker’s’ for my Birthday.
The food was OK, but:
1) The tables were crammed in so close that you could easily eat off the fork of diners on the table next to you.
2) The restaurant service was awful, with slow and inattentive service.
3) The prize for most incompetent service goes to the Cocktail Bar staff after dinner, where they insist on providing table service in the library, but they clearly have no organisation or training on how to look after residents and diners vs groups who’d just come in for one drink.
This is supposed to be a flagship Marriott Hotel, but the restaurant and bar fall way below the standards expected.
Never again.

The service was disappointing. We had lunch there and after we finished our appetizer we realized that we didn’t get our main menu for more than an hour. The waitress was very busy and I think she forgot us!! She didn’t ask or check how we are doing for over an hour! It was so hard to call and get her. And when we told her our main menu hasn’t come out she said it will come out soon, it seems that the moment we called her the main menu cooking started. The service is definitely wrong here. We didn’t have time to have dessert since the main menu came out sooooooo long. I think something should be improved here.
Risotto was good but the lunch menu pasta was terrible, overcooked noodles and taste was bad...........

My spaghetti was inedible. My companions had pork, which was good but tiny portions.
Recommend the library for coffee and chocolate sorbet.

Ok if you get the right dish.

There was a meeting going on which made the dining room very loud. All of the salt and pepper shakers were also empty upon asking 4 times for new ones. The staff were friendly and tried to help but did not know what dishes came with and had to check a lot. This seems typical of a new restaurant.

Really fantastic food, good wine, lovely interiors. Service was a little slow at the end of the evening, but this isn’t a place to rush, so we sat back and enjoyed :)

Really tasty food, great wine, and nice and clean with a good view of the park. The table was a bit small and crammed next to the other ones. Table water was not cold enough.

We had a wonderful lunch at Parker's Tavern for my husband's birthday. The sole was fabulous and the pheasant and prune pie was delicious. We would highly recommend this Tavern for business or leisure lunches.

The food, as usual was delicious, although we ended up leaving after our main course! Unusually we were seated in the bar area instead of the restaurant, no idea why. Chairs were great for having a relaxing drink but not conducive to eating. Half way through our main meal, a staff member sat at the table right next to us and conducted an interview for a job at the hotel. We could hear every awkward word and made us feel very uncomfortable - so we left after our main ourse and go elsewhere for dessert and coffee. We did tell our waiter who completely dismissed our comment about bein uncomfortable with the interview happening around and by just saying "very good madam". Thanks for your concern

This is a lovely place to eat with friends and family. The food is excellent in quality, presentation and range of dishes, with unusual and familiar offerings to suit all appetites and palates. A very comfortable room with tables spaced sensibly apart and pleasant ambiance. Staff are friendly, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. It is a 'special occasion' place which is moderately expensive (although excellent value given the quality) but having enjoyed the wild mushroom dish so much it is tempting to invent a few 'special occasions'....

Very good food and service (Sunday roast dinner). Only disappointment was that they asked if the meal was for a special occasion (which it was, a birthday) but didn’t follow up on this or do anything special for it which I found strange

Cosy and chic restaurant in the heart of Cambridge, excellent and affordable food, including traditional British mains. Attentive service and comfortable dinning room.
Will definitely recommend.

Food was excellent from the limited menu with some confusing choices like Fish & Chips & Chicken pie. We think the management need to decide if they are ‘a fine dining’ establishment or a hotel dining room which caters for foreign tourists. Prices are inclined towards fine dining. Wine list overpriced. We avoided the tourist pub food and enjoyed excellent high quality food beautifully cooked. Waiting staff need to be better trained in all respects. We had a stream of different staff which confused them as well as us. Happy to talk if you wish.

Lovely lunch, food was superb. Restaurant was quiet when we visited so slightly lacking in atmosphere but on the plus side it meant the noise level was low.
Felt like luxury at a reasonable price.
We will return

Another excellent meal at Parker's Tavern. The staff are very welcoming and provide a gold star service. The Pheasant and Mushroom Wellington was cooked to perfection.

It can't be long until a Michelin star is awarded for the culinary delights.

Due to a problem preparing the dining area we had to wait until 12:55 to sit down for our 12:15 booking; while the staff were very pleasant and helpful about this, it was hugely inconvenient for us as we had post-lunch commitments, making the whole lunch very hurried and quite stressful.

The food was generally pretty good, although the Wellington had mixed reviews from those who tried it; we didn't have time for either starter or desert due to the delays.

There is a nice ambience in the restaurant, and the bar is comfortable.

I'd hope this was a one-off based on it being New Years Day.

Had a lovely evening meal. The food was great but found the service a little fussy. We were enjoying our starters and engaged in conversation but were rather abruptly interrupted by the waitress clearing away our starters as soon as our cutlery was put down. I asked if we could have a little time until our mains were served but was told that they were already on the way. This rather spoiled the atmosphere and we decided to have another bottle of wine in the bar, which had a much more relaxed ambience. All in all we enjoyed the night but feel the waiting staff should have taken their cues from the customer rather than make us feel harried.

1. Wrong menu on the table hence venison ordered was not available.
2. Wrong starter was presented. Sent back had to wait for correct dish to be served.
3. Wrong table bill presented.
4. The bill for the table when presented was incorrect and thus sent back again.
5. The service otherwise was polite but very slow.

Meeting our daughter who had just finished work at 5:30 Christmas Eve it was time for a treat.
Lovely cocktails (I opted for a locally produced pale ale) in the festively trimmed bar as pre dinner drinks - with delightful choir performing in the foyer.
Then the headline act - dinner. I was the only one having starters and went for the scallops cooked in their shells. Perfection on a plate with samphire and a wonderful sauce (mopped up with really tasty sour dough bread)
Two of us a went for the lamb and one the hake. All well cooked and tasty.
I skipped dessert but the plum and chocolate ones (alas I can't recall the names) disappeared quickly.
Attentive service throughout made this a thoroughly enjoyable night.
Not the cheapest, but worth it.

Parker's Tavern has become much restaurant of choice on my regular visits to Cambridge. The food is excellent and you can hear yourself talk, even when it is quite full, which is rare these days. The service is excellent - attentive without being over pressing.

The food was very good but not exceptional and too expensive for the portion sizes. Overly the place is too noisy. I appreciate its popular but the little tables are so close to each other that there is no privacy, conversation is not possible without raising your voice. The service is good and the staff is lovely but it takes too long to wait for the food. I liked it as one off experience but I will be going elsewhere next time.

My starter (Norfolk quail) was tough and close to inedible. My main-course (hake) was average. The chardonnay wine was good.
This was my second visit in 6 months and I was disappointed both times.
