Parker’s Tavern serves modern British comfort food sourced from field, fen and England’s seas.
The menu changes with the seasons, every dish representing a return to good, unpretentious British cooking, conjured by a spectacular chef.

The place and the staff were amazing. From offering 54 different gins to local food, PT was exceptional in every way. It's quite pricey but you don't feel anything but cosseted by the lovely staff. I would drink and eat here every day if I could.
Good food and great ambience. Service could be slow at times especially with our first drinks! But staff friendly!
I travelled from Kent to share a first meal with a new friend, who lives in Cambridge. The next one - hopefully very soon - simply cannot be anywhere but Parker's.
Food, service, ambience: all 'bang on the button'!
I have eaten at Parkers Tavern twice now and I appreciate it is still in that learning curve of the first few months. The staff are all excellent - especially the waiters and bar staff - friendly and professional. The ambience is comfortable and it is a great place to meet for lunch. The decor is stunning and I particularly love Toad of Toad Hall being read in the ladies! The bar area is particularly nice - and a great place to meet before a meal. My Bloody Mary was one of the best Ive had. The only thing that lets it down is the food. My first meal of pork with confit squash was disappointing and there was no suggestion that I ordered sides to go with it, which it badly needed. The duck egg starter was good though. For the second meal I chose the pie and although the flavours were there, the sauce was so watery it was almost impossible to eat! I think there are some great ideas on the menu - but they need not to get lost in translation!
Interesting menu options, delicious food, attentive (but not intrusive) friendly service. Enjoyed the ambience and buzz!
Just the most wonderful, attentive, humorous service - a real pleasure to be looked after here. A great team. The food was, in the main, great - although the tempura starter could do with some finesse....terribly thick, soggy batter. But wow, the apple pudding was incredible - a real star!!
Food arrived cold
Sent back but it meant my husband ate his alone
Mine arrived hot eventually but he had finished eating
Probably the best restaurant in Cambridge for now. Keep it up
Service was excellent, but food was disappointing and expensive for what it was. Lobster was replaced by crayfish in the starter - we had been told the replacement was crab, which would have been more interesting. My wife's lamb stew contained bits of bone. My slow roast duck was edible, but looked unappealing - swimming in gravy. My wife's scallop starter was fine
Service was generally excellent but there were one or two slips which were quickly remedied. Overall we felt it was slightly expensive for the standard of food on offer but it is certainly a welcome addition to the Cambridge food scene.
The service was impeccable and the food amazing with excellent cocktails - thank you!
We booked a table for 2:45. After being seated we waited for around 20 minutes before we were served which was slightly too long.
After that the waiting staff were excellent and the food really great.
Had heard mixed reviews so thought I would see for myself and agree with a lot of my friends, what lets this restaurant down is the service. It was pretty poor to say the least, from staff that did not know the fish of the day, to having to ask two members of staff if somebody could take our order, not only for drinks but for food. But if you can look passed the service the food itself is really good. I had a fabulous pie and the soufflé was amazing. The tables are quite packed in and the noise level is high so not the place if you are looking for a quiet meal but a good place to go with friends. So I left a little disappointed but very full!
A really enjoyable evening, good food and good service. Thank you.
Very good food, extremely helpful staff, really nice decor.
Not our first visit, certainly won’t be our last, new items on menu
A really memorable meal. Interesting and varied menu. Our food was without exception cooked beautifully, and the attentive and unfussy service.
Second time I’ve been since opening & both times the food has been great. I hope it manages to maintain this level for long to come. We’ll be frequent visitors, love food & crave better experiences than Cambridge currently offers. The truffle risotto is really beautiful. Great wine selection too with many affordable great bottles from a good variety of regions. It’s upscale dining in Cambridge, but maintains a relaxed feel the best combination in my opinion.
Great menu choices, splendid Sunday lunch option (roast beef from the trolley), great service and value. The dining room is attractive but very noisy.
They are having some teething problems, mainly with staff, but I'm sure it will improve, and we'll definitely return.
The service needs to be more polished. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful, but at times service was a little unprofessional. E.g. waiting staff leaning across one person to deliver food to person sitting next to them. Also waiting staff not knowing answers to simple questions about the menu - e.g. is the pastry on top of the pie shortcrust or puff. As it's early days I expect these issues will be dealt with.
We thought that the venue and food were very good but the service was a bit hit and miss. A couple of times we had waiters at the table within a couple of minutes of each other and then at other times it was difficult to gain their attention.
At the end of the meal we weren't asked if we wanted any teas and coffee. We then had to ask twice if we could have a table in the library for a night-cap. When we were eventually escorted to the library, nobody came to take our drinks order until we made a point of finding a member of staff.
Been twice now, excellent service ever time! Favourite place to g.
Meeting a friend who we hadn’t seen for a long while
I booked Parker’s Tavern as an addition to my husbands birthday treats. The service was appalling. We sat at the bar as we were early
We enjoyed our meal at Parker's Tavern. However, what was disappointing was the noise level and the closeness of the tables. It was quite difficult to hold a conversation and the tables are quite close to each other. When we arrived the Receptionist who greeted us was clearly under pressure. She was holding an armful of coats and rushing about with the coats before she found time to put them in the appropriate place. I thought there should have been more than one person on the Reception. It just gave the impression of stress, not what you want to see when you are hoping to have a relaxing lunch. Apart from this the food and service was good.
We had been wanting to try this restaurant in the refurbished University Arms and a family birthday provided the opportunity. It's a lovely open, welcoming room with friendly efficient staff. The food was excellent and well-presented, with prices that were actually very reasonable (budget for £10 starter, £20 main and you will be pleasantly surprised, although there are lower cost items as well). Decent wine list which isn't a rip off. A top class location in Cambridge for anything from a special occasion dinner to a lunch to celebrate a successful Christmas shopping trip.
Lovely evening in beautiful surroundings. Food was delicious and service good. Relaxed, buzzy atmosphere.
Great food in a lovely setting, thoroughly enjoyed it!
Food was mediocre but the decoration and the space were terrific. Waiting staff were very attentive.
Great dining experience overall !!!
The food is on the average side compare to the extremely friendly, attentive and professional staffs.
Booked after reading many favourable reviews since reopening. We were not disappointed.
Service was first class from the moment we entered the hotel.
The food was excellent: best potted shrimps I’ve tasted and the legendary Spag Bol more than lived up to its billing.
Varied, reasonably priced wines.
I never knew that food could taste as good as this.
Superb service from the minute you walk through the door. The food was absolutely delicious and so imaginative. Would definitely return and felt it was extremely good value for money.
Parker’s Tavern is a superb professionally run, classy and yet relaxed restaurant and hotel where you can pop in for coffee or stay and enjoy lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. The cocktails are creative and delicious. The building has been transformed and the interiors utterly charming. The food is delicious with old British favourites on the menu served with flair. The staff are top notch and well trained-attentive and friendly without being intrusive. This was my second visit and will be my go to place now whenever I am in Cambridge.
Good service, great Ambience, & Lovely Food.
The Beef and Sole were lovely but the lamb unusual
Seated at table then ignored by the waiting staff for about 15 minutes. Once we had ordered the service was quick, the food was excellent. We asked for the bill and again were ignored so eventually we took the bill to the bar to pay.
This was my third visit. I really love the building and the interiors. The food is good, too. All in all - a wonderful place to have a meal. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.
I was extremely disappointed with the service. When booking, I started that the guests had allergies. When confirming on the phone, I reminded them off the allergies. On arrival I asked for advice of what can be ordered due to the allergies - TWICE - the waiters nodded and walked away. I waited quite a good twenty minutes and then got impatient and demanded service upon which we were told there was no allergy menu and that the waiter could tell us verbally, which we really could have be told upon our arrival. So we then ordered our food. The food arrived, which clearly had cheese on it, which is what the allergy is to! Very slow, poor incompetent service.
I thought the food was fresh, well presented, tasty-really excellent offering. Staff are attentive and room is cosy. Will return.
