Parker’s Tavern serves modern British comfort food sourced from field, fen and England’s seas.
The menu changes with the seasons, every dish representing a return to good, unpretentious British cooking, conjured by a spectacular chef.
Beautiful food. Extremely well priced for the quality. Staff were very welcoming. Wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Not as good as previous visits unfortunately- perhaps due to it being bank holiday Monday
Excellent food and service, atmosphere a bit lacking,
Parker’s is lovely. So many times when we eat out we start out with high hopes of great food in classy surroundings at a cost that is an
“affordable treat” - only to be let down on all counts, it’s either all show and no substance and you’re treated like a number, or there is neither style nor substance! either way you wish you had stayed at home and cooked yourself and the family a beautiful meal.
Parker’s is the first place we have been in a long time to change that. You feel special and welcome from the moment you arrive. The staff are lovely, attentive, happy and professional, making you feel comfortable and immediately relaxed knowing that they take pride in the service they provide.
The food is unfussy, classic, good quality and delicious. Possibly a little pricy, but not at all outrageous. We felt the whole experience was 100% . The surroundings are beautiful.
Thank you we cannot wait to return.
Such a lovely restaurant; the interior is fantastic and views over Parkers Piece are just lovely, the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing and the food was seriously good (and portion size was perfect). Would definitely recommend and we will be back.
Excellent food, magnificent service, great value, buzzy atmosphere
We had a lovely meal here on Saturday evening, staff were helpful and attentive, the food on the whole was very good (I did send my lamb back as it was relatively cold however this was dealt with promptly and when it came back it was really tasty). Overall, a good experience and value for money.
Lovely location, very welcoming and friendly staff BUT I was very disappointed with the seafood roll. Dressing was nice but it arrived in what can be described as a stale hotdog roll! I don’t normally complain about food but when you go to a nice place, you expect good quality food reflecting the surroundings.
food was very good and well served. Portions are huge! but the service was chaotic throughout the email, and really needs to be shaper and more effective if the restaurant is to meet its full potential
Overall very impressed. Food was superb, my duck was the best I'd had. Service excellent, ambience great, a real 5 star way to spend our anniversary.
Foreign waitress did not understand order so starter was wrong. But otherwise she was very good.
The duck which is usually good consisted of large over cooked rather coarse pieces and not very good.
This is the problem with this restaurant, the cooking is so inconsistent. Very poor dishes like macaroni with lobster, lobster and mackerel cocktail, both appalling and very expensive and then the usually reliable duck and good desserts.
People go back to restaurants if they know what they will get but this restaurant still has too many disappointments.
Pleasant decor and ambience. Good service . Food was tasty and well presented. My daughter loved the ice cream choice of toppings. I thought the Apple Epiphany was a real show stopper which looked and tasted delicious.
The food was fantastic which justifies a high rating. The restaurant is spacious and airy and nicely set out so it's not too cramped. It's a shame that you can't see out of the windows to the view, which is the main USP for Parker's Tavern - the windows are curtained off along the bottom. The view of Parkers Piece is more important than privacy (people can choose to sit at the back if they dont want to be seen!) & hopefully the hotel will realise this.
Service was terrible. The staff were friendly and not rude, just slow, forgetful, table wasn't ready until 20 mins after our booking, noone took our coats, drinks ordered at bar didnt arrive before we went through to table, noone took our order etc etc.
All was perfect apart from food. Muffin was half cooked or may have been defrosted before cooking and serving them. Eggs were fine.
Nice ambience and lovely staff.
Can definitely improve in their food.
Our meals were very disappointing.
My wife chose the smaller portion of Spaghetti Bolognese at £12. After 4 or 5 mouthfuls, she said it had neither taste not texture. The meat was chopped too fine for amy mouthfeel and there were no discernible herbs or flavours. We complained to the (Italian) waiter who told us how to make Spag Bol (we already knew). He said he would tell the kitchen. We never saw him again and received neither comment nor apology.
I chose the signature dish - Turbot in a bag at £25. I know Turbot is expensive, but my piece was no more than 3-4 oz and was sat upon 7or8 pieces of Samphire and 4 or 5 of Fennel/ What I also know about Turbot is that it is a very tasty, meaty fish. This was not. It was tasteless, unseasoned and soggy. It could have been cod, haddock or any other white fish.
Excellent customer service. Food beautifully presented and unique, and very tasty.
A bit pricey, but it's Cambridge and the kind of place you would go for a treat.
Excellent food and service. Can’t wait to come back!
I had langoustines for lunch. I was very sick when I got home.
Not much atmosphere as restaurant quite empty.
Very disappointed by Parker's. We may have been unlucky with a new and inexperienced waiter (who was struggling to understand English at times) - lots of small mistakes and misunderstandings which became a bit annoying. We also had to wait a very long time between courses. The food was OK but nothing remarkable and my steak was tough and tasteless. Very expensive for what was basically pretty average brasserie food. We were however treated very courteously and the manager was great. Nice setting/views and the interior feels quite upmarket. We didn't want to complain as we had a guest with us but I could not recommend this place. Wish we had just found a decent gastropub instead.
I’ve been here 3 times now and loved it each time. The food is amazing and the menu is varied & interesting. The place itself is beautiful and the service is incredible. The only issue we had this time was that the service was slightly slow. It was a lunchtime, we had things we needed to get to after lunch and it really wasn’t busy, so we were just a little frustrated with the time it took to order & get served. Otherwise it was fantastic.
The full English was good. The quality of food was good and the portion was generous. Staffs are very polite and nice. Would definately go back again!
Went for lunch on a Monday quiet and very relaxing.
Expensive for what it is but the most negative thing was the noise. Very loud and very busy - the acoustics are nit conducive to having a conversation.
I booked the table as that's what I thought you had to do. However, when we arrived and ordered our coffee the waitress returned to ask us if we wanted food. We had not expected to have food and we explained to the waitress. She very kindly offered for us to go into the Library. It was extremely nice and comfortable and very elegant. We had two more coffee's, 2 lots of drinks, your Bloody Mary, fantastic. Then we heard people ordering lunch, yes that's how long we were in there, and decided to do the same. The only thing that you could possibly improve on for your lunch menu is to offer posh sandwiches with perhaps game crisps or posh crisps, as that's what we would have both liked, but, what we had was delicious. We will certainly be coming again, and I will be booking to have afternoon tea with my Mum and Dad. Thank you.
A great place to enjoy good food in wonderful surroundings
We were 6 people and there are no round tables only long with benches one side which is hateful to get in and out of. Service was very slow. We were never offered a sweet or coffee until in desperation I flagged a waiter. We had scallops to start and they were cooked in butter with Samphire grass and then we had brown sole which was also cooked in butter with samphire grass; the waiter should have pointed this out as we ordered. Finally we had intended to park underneath the hotel but the parking chap seemed to have disappeared so after waiting 15 minutes we gave up and found parking elsewhere.
Great early dinner with our 7 month old. The food was served quickly, was good quality and the waiting staff were very accommodating of our little guy who fed in a high chair while we ate.
The service is impeccable, the food wonderful and the setting grand. But all of it still manages to be relaxed. We loved it. It was buzzing too -- great energy.
Truffle risotto was excellent! Thoroughly enjoyable meal.
NEW RESTAURANT FOR CAMBRIDGE, GREAT FIND, GOOD FOOD, REALLY ENJOYED MY LUNCH,
Very good Brasserie type menu which was very good in great location with attentitive staff
Oh, the truffle risotto, it really is sublime. And my sole with shrimps and samphire was perfect too...
Fantastic Sunday lunch with friendly service. Delicious roast beef lunch with generous vegetables. A lovely treat!
We had a very enjoyable evening, service and food was fab
I had confirmed reservation with yourselves so disappointed when Parkers rang direct and almost spoilt the secret of taking husband for his birthday. Our son was already at table and had been offered drink. We were not acknowledged for 15 minutes, then waitress asked if we were ready to order food. We said we hadn't even been offered a drink. We wanted champagne due to celebration. Another person served drink.
A third person took our order.
inconsistent service to start with, but then one waiter, fourth person, recognised it was a birthday and served us well along with celebratory chocolates.
handed cloak room ticket in and received wrong coat!!
Food choice very good and good value.
Some staff need fine tuning and more interactive with clientele
Third time eating here and still doesn't disappoint, far the best restaurant in cambridge
This restaurant is light and bright and yet cosy. Service was excellent, very friendly from start to finish. The menu is quite diverse, so everybody should find something to their taste. Our langoustines were delicious, so was the apple dessert and the wine. The bill was a pleasant surprise, we thought Parkers Tavern would be more expensive.
My word for this restaurant is unfussy which is the highest praise I can give. I hate places where the food is presented in an over-elaborate way and the staff won't leave you alone.
PT gets everything right. Great choice of items on the menu and food is superb. Full plates without over-facing you. Great ambiance (no musak) in an elegant location. But best of all is the staff. Friendly, informal and polite, they were there when we wanted something and not when we didn't. No hovering which I really like.
There were a few large groups when we went but the room was big enough for us to find a quiet corner for two.
Service was awful I'm afraid. I've been here before when the service was very good, but this time it was extremely slow. We waited ages for our lunch. The waitress seemed new so perhaps it was because of that, however the service in the bar was also very slow that day. It wasn't busy so I hope they resolve this issue for when it is. Lovely food normally, but not spot on for us on this occasion.
I have to say that this is a very lovely room, beautifully decorated and with a wonderful view of the green behind the hotel.
Booked for an anniversary meal and requested a table out of the way. From start to finish the service was excellent, attentive staff who could no do enough to make the experience wonderful. The food was top notch, I had the duck for main followed by the rice pudding souffle. Prices for this sort of venue and quality of dining were very reasonable. A lovely touch was the complimentary chocolates we received for our anniversary. Highly recommended!
