Excellent service and delicious meal - we opted out for a sirloin steak with fries, which was done exactly to our liking. Friendly staff - helpful with suggestions for drinks and dessert choices :-)
Our recent visit to Parker's Tavern on Father's Day was a real disappointment. The food was very good (although they had run out of a couple of our orders) but the service was a shambles. We arrived bang on time since you're only given a 5-minute grace period and then had to wait fifteen minutes for our table. We had four different waiters and still didn't get our side orders delivered with our mains. They forgot them. We were disappointed not to get our first choice of mains or dessert, and the waiter couldn't tell us what came with any of the other dishes. I know they were busy, but if they can't handle it, why should we come back?
Visited mid afternoon on Father’s Day as a family of four. We had to wait 15 mins for our reserved table to clear but this was understandable given how busy they were. Front of house and waiting staff were behaved faultlessly throughout our visit and it was a very pleasurable couple of hours. The food was excellent particularly the sirloin steak and chips (delicious sauce), the sole and the spaghetti Bolognese. A lovely gentle ambience in both the bar and the restaurant. We will definitely be back.
Fantastic food and cocktails and wonderful to see it so busy.
The overall experience was great, even though I was overcharged by a considerable amount when I checked my receipt the next day. The manager and team are however working to resolve the bill issue. The food was excellent and staff were great.
We decided to have a late lunch at parkers tavern after seeing the head chef on “snack masters”. I can honestly say we will be back for more.
From the moment we entered the building we felt looked after, the food and drinks where fantastic.
I would recommend the steak with Cambridge sauce.
A lovely dining experience, with welcoming and attentive staff throughout our time there. Great atmosphere with an upmarket but un-intimidating vibe. Food was well cooked, presented and tasty. Will be back.
Good food, skip the shared beef dish at £60 it’s not worth it
Absolutely delicious food with a menu clearly marked with allergens.
A wonderful lunch with excellent food and service couldn’t fault it at all.
A lovely lunch ..highly recommended for food, service and ambience…’dix points’!!
Food was outstanding and very reasonably priced for the quality. Staff were extremely friendly too.
Really lovely experience. Great food and very good service.
Excellent lunch to celebrate my son's birthday. The concierge was very kind to assist us with parking around Cambridge. The food was delicious, the table by the window just perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. Food was a bit slow coming, but we were not in a hurry so all wonderful. Not our first visit, and we will keep lunching there as it is a very wonderful experience. Thank you.
lovely venue, disappointing food. Tasteless starter, very good steak, mouth burning chips. Maybe we got them on a bad day, but unable to recommend.
Whilst the food was decent enough, the service was terrible - slow, wrong dishes brought, double charged for an item that itself was brought to the table very late in the meal! We will not be returning.
Parker’s Tavern was recommended to us and we weren’t disappointed. We choose the duck and the sole , with a side order of greens, all were beautifully cooked and delicious. We had great service from a friendly waiter called Connel who obviously liked his job. It was a pleasure to share a chat with the chef, drink in the ambiance and see other diners enjoying their evening.
Lovely restaurant, food really nice and good service.
We had a really lovely lunch at Parker's Tavern. Food excellent and staff and service attentive and helpful. It was a special occassion and the staff made us feel very welcome.
A very nice lunch. Service was excellent and the staff so friendly and efficient. The food was great, so tasty, and well presented.
All in all, a lovely experience and we will be back.
Food was good, although nothing exceptional. Wine list is printed daily, but had the wrong vintage on it for the wine I ordered, but obviously I was still charged the same price and rather than get an apology was shown the vintage disclaimer at the bottom of the page. Doesn't exactly scream high end restaurant; neither does opening the wine before I was shown the bottle, which isn't helpful. Our table had a wobble, which the waiter noticed on arrival and said he'd fix, but didn't come to do so until mid way through our main course, by which point the cocktail menu was already doing the job.
We arrived at 11.50am for our 12pm table. We were sat in the bar to have a drink and wait for our table. At 12.35pm we still had not been taken to our table (the restaurant was empty). We struggled to get anyone’s attention to ask what the issue was - eventually it turned out they had just forgotten us. Our first round of drinks was given free as an apology.
We were taken to a tiny table for 2. The waiter did not seem familiar with the item on the menu that we ordered (rib of beef for 2). When the food arrived it consisted of several dishes which did not fit on our tiny table. The waiting staff did nothing to resolve this, but seemed to find it very amusing as we rearranged cutlery, glasses etc to make everything fit. We had to empty dishes and stack them to make room for our plates.
The food was amazing, but was completely let down by the ambience and front of house experience. We were so disappointed as we have eaten previously at Launceston Place when Tristan Welch was head chef, and it was second to none. We had been looking forward to experiencing the rice pudding souffle once again, but we had lost our enthusiasm by then and so did not say for dessert.
We had a truly wonderful evening - the sharing beef was excellent - but hats off to Kate who just made the evening. Utterly charming, she is a masterclass in exceptional service. Thank you for making our special evening absolutely sublime.
A great setting. The bar was well organised and had a good range of drinks. The restaurant was disappointing however. Range of dishes not very inspiring and the food wasn’t very hot. Not planning a return visit to the restaurant any time soon.
Great food and lots of atmosphere. Better than your average Hotel restaurant, exceeded our expectations
Starters and mains great and had quality and finesse. Went for the sundaes which were unremarkable.
Very tasty food, friendly service, nice atmosphere.
This restaurant, in a building impressively redesigned by the prominent architect John Simpson, is a really valuable addition to Cambridge with a richly varied menu and excellent cooking. It would be better if one waiter were assigned to each table as we seemed to eb served by lots of different ones, which was a bit confusing. The rice pudding souffle is amazing.
We had a lovely window table and the special daily lunch. The food was excellent, good choices and quite delicious…amazing value, and the best meal we’ve had since trips to France years ago. The service was gentle and well timed. It included some birthday truffles for one of our guests, a nice final touch. We look forward to returning.
I had a fabulous lunch, very attentive service, warm and friendly without being obtrusive. All the dishes were fantastic, great seasonal produce and a lovely place to chat over lunch.
the service is now a bit of a hit and miss. One waitress was helpful and attentive to the right level but many were not.
My husband had pie of the day with mash. The pie was delicious but the mash was very salty. My duck was lovely and tender but again, the sauce and mash were too salty for me. The atmosphere and location makes the places till worth a visit, just about.
Management needs to look at the standard of their waiting staff.
Lovely setting, good food, great service, will be back
This was a superb meal from start to finish. All courses were delicious and the service was impeccable. Some nice little touches as we were visiting for a Birthday as well which was lovely. Highly recommend and will visit again. The standout dishes were the Risotto and spaghetti Bolognese.
Very tasty food. Service was outstanding! Would definitely recommend it for a special occasion
While the building is beautifully decorated (the choice of artwork being somewhat eclectic) and the atmosphere and service were good, the food was a bit of a let down. We were here for a special birthday and I think I was expecting something more like the much missed Alimentum. However the menu was very basic and food didn't taste freshly prepared. Nothing wrong but nothing to comment on.
That said, the price of the food wasn't too bad (for Cambridge) so I don't have anything to complain about in that regard. The wine was another story!
Had a wonderful time! Food was amazing as was the service. I would definitely recommend.
We really appreciate that Parker's Tavern offers a 'Free From' Afternoon Tea set. This is a great initiative but it still needs a LOT of work. The menu on the website seems appropriate but the actual dishes that we were served were not quite the same in terms of both the complexity of the dishes and the value of money. Desserts and savoury dishes were OK but the scones were a big let down. We appreciate that making dairy free scones is not simple but we anticipated that the restaurant of this level of reputation could achieve much better than this. Overall, this was an interesting experience and we really do appreciate that free from menu is offered here. We might come back in a few months' time when the restaurant and their chefs get more used to making vegan dishes.
First time here and will definitely return. Food and service were great - the waiter made a big effort to advise my friend who is a coeliac. The only down side is that the drinks are expensive
Excellently meal, beautiful surroundings and lovely staff.
The service was very slow, but we were in no hurry.
