Nice enough but in comparison to other cambridge restaurants, I believe the quality of food to price ratio was a bit steep. I have had just as good food for cheaper at other locations in the Cambridge city centre. Overall, the food was nice so no complaints.
We enjoyed every aspect of our lunch, will definately revisit.
The service was a little slow and impersonal, on this visit. The food was good though.
The beef in a Sunday roast was the best I gaff had in a long time abc all guests at my table thought the same. Only Criticism I would have is the type of plate or more metal wok we had to eat main course out of. Roast potatoes were not as good as my own and poss could have done with 1 more. But overall very good and will def go back.
Many new staff who were inexperienced & therefore standard not as good as it usually is.
Service and ambience was nice but the portions were expensive, tiny and salty
Would highly recommend Parker's Tavern for a night out!
Incredible food and service - Giuseppe provided fabulous recommendations (truffles duck egg and lamb in particular) and service from him and Iris was impeccable. One of the best meals and experiences we have had in years.
My lamb was perfect , my wife's halibut was also cooked to perfection. We both had souffle which again was perfect.
The starters were great although they initially forgot them...but a couple of free glasses of bubbly was greatly accepted.
We will be dining here again.
Nice And easy but too expensive for what it was.
Great space and incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. Had a cloakroom which is handy. A little too loud but then it was valentine's day! The food was good, good quality ingredients and the wine reasonably priced. Sat in the bar afterwards, very good vibe.
We enjoyed the Valentines set menu. Looking forward to going back when it’s less crowded and trying the ala carte choices.
Absolutely fantastic food, drinks, venue. Great attention to detail, absolutely fantastic time thank you.
Compared to the prices the food is not up to par.
Seating is rather poor as the tables were moving around as they're unbalanced, which got kind of annoying whilst trying to eat.
Service was also rather poor, it seems I came on a training day as most of the waiters/waitresses were struggling and seemed lost when taking orders and bringing out the food.
I had a gin and tonic with a Cambridge gin, which was one of the worst gins I have ever tasted, I asked for it to be changed, but they couldn't get it right so I didn't bother drinking it at all.
Good overall experience. Food generally very goodand my partner rated her dishes as excellent . I had slight reservations as my main and an accompanying salad were over salted. Enough really to have raised it with the staff though I chose not to.
The ambience is that of a traditional up-market continental brasserie. Somewhat overdone but stylishly and with good views out over the open space of Parker’s Piece. Service was attentive and efficient. Prices were on the high side but not eye watering so I thought it average as value for money. We certainly wouldn’t be put off from going again and we’ll be recommending it to friends.
Great meal... great Service (thanks Giuseppe!)
The truffles duck egg was amazing!!
Will definitely recommend it!
I have been to this restaurant before and had a very good experience. I have to say this time the service was disappointing. The waitress didn’t speak English so it was difficult for her to understand our order . Also we had quite a Walt .
The food was good however
Fantastic food and excellent service. Relaxed atmosphere and great choice of music too. Lovely place.
I had lunch on an unfortunate day as the restaurant was virtually empty and so lacking in ambience. The food and service was good but not special
Service was pleasant, if a little amateurish at times. The real disappointment lay in the food. We have been several times before but not for some months. My principal disappointment was in the butternut soup I ordered - a special Sunday menu starter. It was so salty that it destroyed my pallet for the rest of the meal and certainly masked any more subtle flavours of the squash or truffle oil. I appreciate that I generally don't add salt to food and so my taste buds may be more delicate than others' but as salt can so easily be added afterwards, it's a great shame that the chef used it so liberally.
My husband had the winter truffle risotto, which he enjoyed.
I had the fish special as a main. A very small piece of brill on a bed of what seemed to be slightly curried lentils. The whole thing was quite dry, as if it had been waiting around for a while, and the flavours just not special in anyway. My vegetables, on the other hand, were good.
My husband had suckling pork and was similarly disappointed. The meat tasted almost 'gamey' and not at all what he had expected.
The rhubarb and ginger cheesecake was really ordinary and without the ginger biscuit base would have had little flavour.
I'm sorry to be so negative. We've had much better experiences in the past - but this just felt a real let down. As I say, the staff were warm and friendly, if rather slow and confused to begin with and some not very well informed about the food.
Everytime again it is een very nice place to have diner, to have lunch or to stay.
Waiters black aprons were filthy, clearly worn the previous day.
Serving Sunday roast in a metal dish made it very hard to eat, as it was on a plate (with folded napkin) which didn’t fit the dish.
Duke of Cambridge tart was particularly good.
Very dissapointing portion size, we were all left wondering if we'd been served starters instead of mains by mistake. The food was delicious but I dont expect to start discussing ordering a pizza for when we get home before we've even got to the dessert.
From a Tavern i expect to be comforted and well fed, especially for the price of the dishes. The food really was fantastic but the did not feel like value for money.
We were entertaining customers after a long day of meetings and i was left embarassed that we all left still hungry and unsatisfied.
The actual ambiance was fun and lively and i can not fault the staff at all, attentive but not intrusive. Again, we loved the food but not the portion size.
Fantastic service, brilliant food, nice relaxed atmosphere and great decor
I would 100% go back
So much on the menu I wanted to try
Even had dessert which is unheard of for me
I and my husband had a great time at Parker's Tavern. We went for the afternoon tea. Sandwiches and creamy cakes are amazing. But I'm afraid I cannot tell the same thing for scones. Chocolate scone was like dry cake and plain one was like old sweet bread. So they need to review their scone recipe. Service was great. You can get tea as much as you want. You can order more cakes and sandwiches that included the price. They gave us a nice gift box with a slice of cake inside before we left. This cake's quality doesn't suit the place. On tart pastry lots of burnt sugar which is I think caramel tart doesn't taste good. But the idea is great giving a box to the customers with a slice of cake. Overall it is a nice place to have afternoon tea. We'll try their lunch on our next visit.
Fantastic food, from vegetarian beetroot hash to suckling pig our group enjoyed everything.
Our table was not ready at 8.30 so we waited 15 mins, not a problem with nice cocktail bar at hand. However, the guy (not sure his title) who had promised to come and get us when table was ready, didn't and then delegated this simple task to his female colleague who was not in the loop, so the whole experience was uncomfortable and not that professional. The food was nice enough but not a wow to be honest. The beetroot and venison was a little bland and not hot enough. The duck was very delicious and extremely rich. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice and buzzy. I did find starters and deserts pretty pricy.
Great food - really well balanced flavours. House wine (red) also notably good for price. Service friendly and helpful, if a little stretched when it got busy. Would recommend as a high end dining experience at a moderate price.
Luxurious surroundings, creative menu suitable for all tastes. Superb and professional staff.
A very pleasant dining experience. Thank you very much.
Food and service was amazing. Great value Sunday lunch and a good vegetarian option.
Lovely restaurant, amazing food, great service. Will definitely be back
The food was amazing and the night for the pair of us was wonderful. Drinks service was fairly random but we muddled through. The slow cooked duck egg was a treat almost worth going back for on its own.
We have been a few times, but this time everyone was perfect! Excellent service, food, drink and atmosphere
Had an early dinner on a Friday - very good food (amazing value), absolutely lovely service, and as always a great atmosphere.
We availed ourselves of the special lunch offer and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Although there was a slight hiccough with the main course order, it was swiftly put right.
A bit of a treat for us. Lovely food, lovely drinks, lovely service, lovely location and we didn't break the bank. Thank you!
On the plus side, the staff were all very professional and friendly. The location is delightful, overlooking Parkers Piece. However, one of our dishes (pie of the day - beef with mushrooms) was very poor. The meagre meat filling was very fatty and the side of mashed potatoes had too much butter, so very soggy. Very overpriced for the quality of the food on our visit and extremely disappointing.
Nice place, quite noisy where we were sitting, side dish forgotten and brought eventually but no redress offered. Not a cheap night - food typical for Cambridge pricing but drink is ££££. Pleasant for a special occasion, food was nice, service a bit confused at points but friendly.
