Parker’s Tavern serves modern British comfort food sourced from field, fen and England’s seas.
The menu changes with the seasons, every dish representing a return to good, unpretentious British cooking, conjured by a spectacular chef.
Fabulous food, great service - friendly but not OTT, beautiful bar area. Will be back.
A lovely evening , friendly staff , good food and nice ambiance .
Beautiful bar and restaurant serving high quality classic British food. Scallops were absolutely delicious, if pricey (£8 each!!) Lots of staff but service sometimes a little slack - our waiter disappeared (went off shift??) halfway through our meal and there was no handover to another. Overall a lovely experience for a special occasion.
Relaxed and lively. Friendly and fun. Really enjoyed my pre-drinks in the bar, delicious meal and happy birthday surprise for my mum.
A very comfortable and welcoming place to dine - lovely food and great ambiance - lively and busy without feeling crowded. I'd recommend it.
Loved it. Food, drink, service. Very relaxed but smart . Great value for money .
The staff and food were wonderful! They seemed to love the baby and we had 3 people serving us! I hade the Sole, it was Orgasmic!! Really it was amazing!!
Will definitely go again very soon.
Good food plenty of choice on the menu Pleasant staff great place for lunch. Good ambience. My fish had a bit too much butter on it but was very tasty. Spag Bol was one of the best ever
Thé newly renovated hotel lobby is splendid. The restaurant/tavern is nice but the food is very average. The waiters are friendly and helpful. We visited on a Monday night, which, we hoped, would be quiet. However the place was extremely noisy even though we sat at the back. No place for a romantic supper!
Very average meal, very waterey mash potatoe with over cooked duck and poor veg selection. Dessert menu very poor with limited choice of hot desserts, two mousse options, burnt cream or ice cream. Only one other table in the restaurant and very cold ac on a wet and windy day.
When we booked online, I was asked if it was a special occasion, I mentioned that it was a birthday celebration for two of the guests. Nothing was done after the meal. It really didn’t matter much if we were led to believe there might be some gesture from the restaurant.
The service was fine until near the end. After we finished the main course, the waitress came to clear the table. After clearing half of the table, she went away and carry on service other customers. We were left waiting for the table to be cleared and for the dessert menu. For 15 minutes, the waitress went pass our table many times without attending our table. In the end, I have to ask her for the dessert menu and then she noticed that the table was only half-cleared.
We visited Cambridge and came to Parker’s the night before we had already booked for - loved it so much went back the second night and food and service was just as good - thank you PARKER’s for a lovely experience
Went with great expectations and it was a huge disappointment. The menu was unappealing and the food, in a word, terrible. Tough, overcooked steak, unfilleted fish, vegetables that were different to those described on the menu and the presentation slapdash. As for the bill! It even made my enormously generous father do a double take. Like paying for the Savoy and getting a low grade pub meal. At least the service was delightful - for that at least we were grateful.
Average food in a restaurant that needed less seats. It looks fancy in outside and we had expected it to be inside but were disappointed to find it was full of families and other holiday makers in very casual clothing. Slow service too didn't help
Met a member of my family for Saturday lunch at Parker’s Tavern last week. Part of the University Arms though with its own web site and entrance the restaurant and bar are located overlooking the fields of Parker’s Piece. The food was good to excellent with the Duck and Cognac pie on a par with Calum Franklin’s pies at Holborn Dining Room. Yes that good. The wine list has a varied selection though we stuck with the house claret which was fine. I do understand some of the comments about service though it was fine for us and the restaurant was not full. Overall a very enjoyable experience and one we will repeat. Parker’s Tavern is a good addition to Cambridge. The damage was £140 for 2 including 3 glasses of sparking, 2 courses and a bottle of wine.
Wine list is out of date; vintages not as advertised. They had a sommelier, I guess no one has kept an eye on the wine list since he left.
Waiter told us the incorrect
Overall ambiance is welcoming and friendly. All staff were good. Restaurant reception was excellent. Kind, thoughtful and very welcoming woman of outstanding qualities. Probably the best we have experienced anywhere. Menu simple but interesting. Our choices proved to be great dishes. Compliments to the chefs, especially chef responsible for the quail starter. We enjoyed our 2/3 hours with you. Thank you. Jill and Peter Newton.
The food and cocktails had impeccable taste and presentation. Staff were super friendly (especial Max and the two managers) and was very knowledgeable about the history of the town. Parker's Tavern is my go-to place for nice food and drinks every time I came to Cambridge.
Well prepared and tasty food and very personable staff. Service was a little slow given the restaurant was quiet, but we probably wouldn't have noticed so much if we hadn't been going on to a meeting. There was a mistake on the menu, which said a dish was vegetarian, but it transpired that it contained a meat stock and one of our party had to re-order her meal and there was apparently only one other vegetarian main to choose. The very limited choice for vegetarians was a surprise.
Loved this restaurant as a special birthday treat. Steak was a perfect medium-rare and the service was outstanding.
Good location and service, but do pay top price for drinks.
Staff were delightful - friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the ambience was relaxed and comfortable. This was the first restaurant in years that we were able to hear each other easily which helped make an experience we will remember with great fondness.
Great food and creative cocktails! Was perfect for our anniversary dinner!
The sole (it was lemon: I suppose I should have noticed the absence of the word 'Dover' on the menu but I was disappointed when it arrived) in brown butter with samphire and Norfolk potatoes was absolutely delicious, thank you. My veggie companion enjoyed her beetroot based dish. The coffee was flavoursome, nuanced and genuinely decaff - I got straight to sleep. But there was a long wait for the replacement - we wanted two Americanos but got one and a capuccino. By the time the second Americano arrived, the first was tepid. The Provencal rose was overpriced but otherwise enjoyable on a summer's evening.
All very nice...food is lovely...service is friendly and attentive. Like coming here for a special treat out. Limited menu but all very well prepared and presented.
It is lovely to see the University Arms restored and up and running again. this is our third visit and it did
not disappoint. The food is outstanding which I hope will continue. Cambridge is in need of such a stunning
We had an excellent family celebration dinner. It is a marvellous space which manages to be elegant and relaxed. The food was wonderful. My sole with brown shrimp was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the restaurant was busy and service was slow with gaps between courses. That was the only criticism that we could make.
Excellent evening. Well cooked and presented food. Beautiful dining room with a view over Parker’s Piece. Attentive but unfussy service. Busy evening but noise levels allowed good conversation. A real asset to Cambridge.
Pretty good, but local pubs are better value. The menu is interesting and decor is cool but everything is about £5 more per dish then you'd pay elsewhere.
The food selection was amazing and the quality perfect, certainly the place to go
Excellent menu choice really delicious - always enjoy it here
A lovely dining experience while visiting Cambridge. The food was both tasty and beautifully presented.
All the staff were friendly and attentive. A great addition to the dining options in the city.
Superb food and great setting. Headed here for a mini break in Cambridge and would definitely go back - every dish was top quality.
Went for lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday and we wanted somewhere that would allow us to have a meal without any rush and in a relaxed atmosphere. Parker's Tavern met the brief perfectly, we were well looked after but left to enjoy our meal and time together. The food was very good and not overly expensive.
It was our anniversary and the service was awful, food cold and over-cooked. The Assistant Manager was very good and cleared the Bill
The staff knew nothing about the menu and were disinterested
Lovely setting, friendly service and excellent food.
Food not great. Lamb was tough - cheap cut. Expect better for the price.
Superb food and wonderful service. The staff couldn't have done more and went out of their way to accommodate us including the pram for our baby. Would definitely recommend!
Stopped in for lunch. We had a lovely table overlooking Parker’s Piece. Professional friendly service with very good, well-presented food. Really enjoyed it although the wine list is a bit daunting.
