Was excited about trying Parks Edge as the menu looked really promising and had heard good things. I was slightly underwhelmed by the dishes I ordered (onion and artichoke tart and duck waffle), they lacked a ‘wow’ factor which I was expecting from the description and price, but overall had a lovely time and enjoyed other tasters I had from friends meals - the salted honey butter was great!
Took a friend for a birthday lunch give days ago and we both really enjoyed the occasion. The food was unusual and delicious and the service helpful and friendly.
We drive from out of London to go to Parks Edge Bar and Kitchen because it ticks all of our boxes of great food, great atmosphere and great service. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!
Visited this restaurant on Sunday to celebrate a family birthday. Food was great, staff were friendly and accommodating, loved the ambiance and the decor, will definitely go again!
We had the pleasure of dining at Park’s Edge last week and what a treat it was. The food by Tom Spinks and Matthew Carrizales was fresh, innovative and playful, and extremely tasty. It is a seasonal, locally-sourced menu and we sampled the homemade brown soda bread & salted honey butter, the duck & waffle, the grilled jerk squid, and the tofu kimchi stew to start, followed by the red gurnard, the duck breast, and the roasted cauliflower gnocchi. To round it off we somehow had room to enjoy some delicious desserts and chocolate truffles too.
The restaurant overlooks Brockwell Park and is a fantastic addition to what is a growing foodie scene in Herne Hill. The décor cleverly creates a cosy and intimate feel, whilst retaining a sense of elegance (including a feature wall by rising interiors star, Kit Miles).
In a two week period where we dined at Petrus, Fera, and Opso, we cannot sing the praises of Park’s Edge enough – not only in terms of the menu but also the team behind it all, who are clearly extremely passionate about food and making each meal memorable and special. We will certainly be returning very soon and have already spread the word to friends and family who are keen to experience it for themselves.
I have dined here on a few occasions and never been disappointed. Staff are very welcoming and will go out of there way to please you. The dishes are experely executed. I will be back!
Relatively new restaurant to Herne Hill.
The space is quite small but they have avoided cramming in too many tables so our table of 6 for Easter Saturday lunch felt very comfortable.
Only the set menu was available for lunch. The choice therefore was limited. However, We all enjoyed our starters. I had lamb and kimchi. The smoked salmon was a hit with the others. I then had Duck and Waffle. The duck was perfect. The veggie burger was less successful apparently.
Desserts were great. Overall, the quality of the food was very good and I will go back to try the evening a la carte menu.
The food was excellent and the decor is lovely and the service was great. But, I was excited at the prospect of a new relaxed neighbourhood restaurant, but I feel with the type of menu on offer it isn't really that. It is a nice place for dinner for a special occasion, but not somewhere I would just pop to for dinner on a regular basis, which is a shame, that's what is needed in this area, not somewhere trying to offer a find dining type experience with a very very small menu. I would love a few decent well priced regular dishes then a few 'finer' options. Somewhere you could go to for a little treat date night or out with the girls for a catch up, nice and relaxed, I think its trying too hard to be something more at the moment.
Service a tad erratic to begin with. We were told we couldn't have menus until another table had finished with them. Cocktail order taken but had to remind staff that we didn't have the drinks. (Not charged for). Have to say, the cocktails were delicious. The food however, was simply amazing. I had a tofu started and never knew tofu could be sublime. It was. Yes, I did have the grapefruit, black pepper desert and it was delicious. Definitely recommend for the eating experience.
Another wonderful lunch at Parks Edge! We came for mothers day and had the set menu. Every course was beautiful! For the quality of the food, it's very fairly priced. Lovely atmosphere and service, this place is a gem.
It was very enjoyable. We went with friends and looking at the outside of the restaurant we were really not sure about it as this was our first visit. But we went in and we were so glad we did because food was delicious and we somehow managed all three courses. Actually food is some of the best I have ever tasted around here. Would advise going for a drink first as cocktails were good too and there is a small bar area. We will definitley be back and not sure my picture does putting or the espresso martini justice but both were excellent.
Parks Edge is a real neighbourhood gem. The room is comfortable, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. Unexpectedly imaginative modern British food. Starters included a delicious crab risotto and a lovely crispy lamb neck with kimchi. Mains continued the excellent start with a lovely sea bream, a roasted cauliflower dish and excellent duck with great and confit leg. The banana with salted caramel and popcorn was A perfect ending. We will be returning soon!
First time at our new local restaurant. Didn’t disappoint. Food was excellent. Our bream and duck main dishes were excellent, with interesting added touches. Portions were generous too. Cocktails were also spot on. Very friendly service. Will be back soon with family and friends.
Sunday lunch was wonderful. Attentive staff, good welcome and delicious food. One suggestion is that the chef review the presentation of the peanut banana dessert. Looked unappetising, but was delicious.
Two visits in two days, both were excellent. Dinner on Saturday night was relaxed, served quickly and courteously. I had two starters, crab risotto and pheasant breast, both were packed with flavour, perfectly cooked, and with a modern twist that took them above the ordinary. Partner loved his lamb starter and a rare beef bavette main, and I persuaded him to donate me a delicious Mac n' cheese croquette. Really interesting combinations of flavours and textures. Surprisingly good house wine and excellent Canopy beer (they should consider getting it on draft). Returned the following day for Sunday lunch, which was thoughtfully executed with great veg options (truffled cauliflower cheese!). Seating for a range of group sizes; a large group arrived and were seated and served with no fuss. We will definitely be back for more.
Our second lovely meal here. Surprisingly creative cooking in a little local gem. Relaxed room with friendly competent service.
To be honest we were a bit disappointed. The place is nice, the cocktails were good, but the vegetarian starter was a gloopy mess of couscous and what seemed to be peanut butter. M&S can do better. The meat starter and both mains were fine, but the prices were way over what a good neighbourhood restaurant ought to be charging, particularly for veggie food (14 quid for a bit of roast root veg?!). Fingers crossed they review their veggie menu and their pricing, because it has the makings of a really great place, but as it stands we won’t give it many more chances.
Would highly recommend as the atmosphere is great with very good background music. Staff very attentive and thoroughly explained the menu. The selection of wines is superb. The fine dining cuisine was exquisite. Really cannot fault this restaurant and will definitely be bringing clients for lunch.
What a hidden gem! Food as good as you will eat in some Michelin starred restaurants for a fraction of the price. Cocktails are lovely, well thought out wine list, we were spoilt for choice when picking but the real standout dish was the pork. It was heaven on a plate! Highly recommended.
Awesome experimental menu. Great service!
Great staff; great service; lovely atmosphere; exceptional quality food that was week presented. A great find 😁😁
Too noisy but that soars, very good food, interesting menu, nicely serves
Just awful topped off by the clumsy waiter clearing my companions plate onto mine right in front of me. Better off dining at your local pub.
The work coming from this two-or-three-chef team has such a great degree of finesse that it can compete with any fine dining establishment that boast a bigger kitchen operation. Whoever creates the menus here not only have a strong foundation in technical cooking skills, they understand seasonal produce and how to utilise all parts of an ingredient. For example, instead of food wasting parsnip skins, they transform them into crunchy crumbs for a chocolate dessert. I am so pleased to have discovered this perfect eatery and I will be watching these chefs' progress.
Exceptional food served in a cosy, friendly and local restaurant. How could you ask for more?
Good service but food was lacklustre sadly. Ordered fish and it wasn’t cooked properly but same piece of food was re cooked and then was edible. Quite hard to not cook fish properly. Dessert was also disappointing. Food missing the mark somewhat and over priced for what was delivered.
A great evening at Parks edge. Food and service were excellent. Another diner celebrating her birthday kindly shared the birthday cake baked by the restaurant and it was delicous.
Excellent food, extremely well cooked and presented, and friendly staff.
This is my second visit, I love the decor and the location, the service is very friendly and attentive, the man who I believe is the manager is always cheerful and cracking little jokes, he's very welcoming. I am vegetarian and I had the polenta cake which was cleverly shaped like a piece of salmon ( on a previous visit I had a slice of vegan roast which was made to look like a slice of meat, also very clever). I like that so much thought and effort is put into the vegetarian options and this is definitely a big draw for me. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for and for special occasions this would be one of my new favourite destinations in the area. The one small niggle my partner had was that the music playing was dance/rap something like that and seemed at odds with the atmosphere they are trying to create here, especially being a week before Christmas. Did not spoil a lovely evening though and we will definitely be back!
Good Ambiance, excellent food imaginatively presented, and attentive service
Really lovely meal tonight, we had the Christmas menu and enjoyed it a lot - everything was great but particularly enjoyed the chocolate salted caramel dessert. Hope to return soon!
Had my 3rd really enjoyable meal at this lovely start up restaurant and yet again, was not disappointed. I love the ambience. It's is inviting and warm with seating for different occasions such as relaxing with a drink or enjoying a 3 course meal. The crab and scallop tortellini was an amazing starter, perfectly balanced with a bisque that had us requesting something to mop it up with, it was that good! For the rest of my meal, I enjoyed the traditional Christmas meal (turkey and Christmas pud) on this visit. The duck fat roasties deserve an award! My only disappointment...? I was too full to eat all of my delicious dessert!!
Although not full on this visit, Park's Edge was still buzzing and less clients did not detract from the superb meal, fantastic service and overall thoroughly enjoyable evening. The restaurant was very accommodating, providing cocktails that were not on the cocktail list and meeting bespoke menu requests.
Another lovely thing about this restaurant is that there is always some form if interaction with other diners; be it a nod of acknowledgement or a cheery goodnight as they are leaving. It is intimate enough to have privacy but the interaction only adds to my experience which I see overall as a big plus point. Will be heading back to this South London gem very soon!
Excellent Sunday lunch with very attentive staff. Will definitely like to try again on an evening. Recommended.
Very interesting and extremely well executed menu. Great wine list. What’s not to like?
Outstanding attention and courtesy from the waiters, great atmosphere in the place. Fantastic food, as witnessed by the fact that they offer only four mains and four starters, which takes confidence in what you offer, well-justified! We truly enjoyed this and we will be back! Go and check it out!
Visited ‘Parks Edge’ with a group of friends
Thanks to ALL the staff for a lovely evening
Venue FAB Great attention to detail
Food FAB
Will definitely be back
Parks Edge Bar & Kitchen is a wonderful restaurant with an inviting ambiance. The food was fantastic and the menu well thought out. The team make all diners feel welcome and Sunday roast was a real treat. As a new addition to the Herne Hill scene I wish them well and will return.
This restaurant exceeded our expectations! Delicious food, cocktails prepared to your specification (or simply leave it to the bartender); good selection of main courses including vegetarian options. Outstanding service in a lovely relaxing friendly environment. Will be returning soon!
The food was delicious! The best I've had in Herne Hill!!
What a fantastic place who would of thought you could find such a place in Herne Hill. The food was fantastic and the staff have the best customer service I have seen in a longtime. The personal touches from the staff and management was exceptional, the reason why I am taking 22 family and friends to eat on Sunday. A true gem on the high street and people would be foolish not to try them out.
