The food was flavorful, light, and cooked well. All courses were wonderful. Unfortunately, the food was entirely overshadowed by poor service by our waiter. Service started off rocky. Our server didn't make eye contact and didn't listen to our order. He brought the wrong drink back. When we told him, he picked up the drink, stared at it, and walked away. He didn't offer a different drink or apologize. He messed up our food orders as well. He reached over us multiple times. By the dessert course, the manager brought our plates out and asked us how everything was. Our server had not yet asked. The manager made us think that we weren't the only one who had trouble with service with this particular waiter. The manager was wonderful. At the end of the meal, we asked to see him. The host was also wonderful. Damien, the manager, was so nice and helpful and very apologetic. It's a shame about the waiter because overall the experience would have been great without him, but he overshadowed any positives.
Wonderful meal as always at Passion Fish. We were fortunate to dine during DC Restaurant Week and it was a great value, as well as delicious food. We will return again in the future.
We went for restaurant Week dinner. Food and service were superb. Great halibut perfectly cooked!!
As was the salad/sushi appetizers!
Wonderful Restaurant Week lunch. By happenstance, we were seated at the same table where we celebrated our wedding anniversary last June. The host mentioned it to our server who mentioned it as well. The personalized, efficient but never intrusive service is one reason Passionfish is a favorite place.
The excellence of the food helps, too.
The service was phenomenal, but the food wasn’t anything worth returning for.
Restaurant week in DC metro! Food was very good, although dessert was sub par to my liking. Not a big chocolate mousse fan so not entirely the best judgement.
This place is always great! My wife and I love to come here. Food and service are always awesome. It's our favorite place in the area.
We had a reservation for a business lunch. We had to wait 15-20 minutes. It was restaurant week and the restaurant was packed!
We decided to order from the restaurant week menu. It was a mistake. I have had much better meals here than what i experienced today. Service was slow. The Mediterranean shrimp salad was underwhelming: drenched romaine w/ dressing, overcooked chewy shrimp, a few bites of feta, sliced flavorless Roma tomato’s, and a couple of cucumbers. Oh I forgot a few chickpeas for protein. If you want a salad, definitely go to sweetgreen or Jackson’s up the street.
The sushi roll was good/fresh.
The dessert was good and basic.
We went to Passion Fish during Restaurant Week. It was delicious and the service was very friendly. It was very busy yet not very loud. I especially enjoyed their gumbo.
Went during restaurant week and for my wife's birthday. Our OpenTable reservation was ready within 5 minutes of our arrival. The hostess wished my wife a Happy Birthday as we were being escorted to our seats. The server was quick to come to our table and also acknowledged my wife's birthday. Service was great as well as the food.
Great food, great service, easy reservation and accommodating with multiple changes. Prefer sides to come with dishes instead of a la carte but everything delicious!
I love Passion Fish. Great food, ambiance and service. Everyone there is wonderful, however I love me some Claudia. She’s a fantastic server, knows the menu inside out and can tell you exactly what you should have based on your pallet.
Enjoyed a tasty lunch for Restaurant week. Will definitely keep PassionFish in mind for the future.
Tasty food and friendly service.
Always a great dinner and service at Passionfish!
This was our first time dining here. We went on a Sunday and we could only choose items off the brunch menu...very limited selection. The service was not as good as we hoped for given we were celebrating over two decades together. The first waiter took our drink order and we asked if we could order calamari. He said he would go and ask the kitchen if they had any prepared. We observed him sniffling and wiping his nose. He worked with another table in front of us. He never came back and never told us we had another server assigned to us. The second server began tending to us and did not announce he would be our server. It was not until I mentioned I wasn’t sure who to place my order with that he said he was there for us whenever we were ready. A lot of time was wasted waiting for and wondering if we were going to be helped. Very disappointed. Also, we were celebrating and anniversary and were given a menu that said happy birthday in it. Attention to detail and timeliness of service was horrible. The limited bunch menu was underwhelming. I wanted my partner to have salmon and we wanted calamari both not offered. We ordered the charbroiled oysters which were good...one of six had small shells in it that I had to sort through. The seafood crepe was okay. The shrimp and grits was okay...the grits were not the beat I’ve ever had...small and course. The Thai curry shrimp came with small portion of rice and way too much base. The ambiance was outstanding. Overall, not the worst restaurant we have ver been to. Would go back again to try the dinner menu. Not in a hurry to do so though.
My wife and I went to PassionFish for Sunday brunch. We had a wonderful time. The food was fabulous and the service was top notch. What a terrific restaurant! The value was excellent. We are definitely going back soon!
excellent menu and service. somewhat expensive. crab cakes were a hit.
Lights went out and i couldnt get dinner after appetizers and had to pay full fare. Manager should have comped the meal
We dined on the night that PassionFish lost its power! But the dinner was fabulous. The Jambalaya was terrific and other guests enjoyed Arctic Char and salmon. The ceviche was a little ordinary, but very good. and our waiter was terrific too.
Ridiculously good and our server didn’t steer us wrong on our food.
Great grilled seafood and service. Atmosphere a bit cold. Lousy Caesar salad.
New Year’s Eve
We have been to Passion Fish a number of times for New Years Eve and this was the first time I was disappointed. The server was awful. He barely even made eye contact when talking to us, and I felt like we were a complete inconvenience to him. The food was OK, but very basic. In the past I’ve been very impressed w/the presentation, this time there was absolutely no effort to do anything but put a plain piece of fish on a white plate. The cocktail menu was also underwhelming, and lacked a level of sophistication I expect when dinning at a higher end restaurant. We’ll be looking for another spot for our NYE dinner next year, and will be hard pressed to go back for another meal when there are so many other options in the area.
NYE menu disappointing and was NOT the special menu that was listed on website. We were rushed through the meal by service. 👎👎👎
Best restaurant in Reston town center. Food was fabulous and staff is amazing.
I was initially nervous about coming here on a Sunday night, but the food & service were outstanding.
& as usual the quality of the seafood was absolutely terrific.
Great brunch. Always delicious, awesome value, easy parking.
Visited for dads 79th, we were not too rowdy of a table of 4 semi- demanding, yet respectful guests... one of whom was a considerably less ornery bday boy than anticipated- all because Matt B totally rocked the service!!
Perfect tempo, perfect table,,awesome, chef... cucumber salad with the flounder was awesome, but that skin on rockfish with saffron rice and chanterelle mushrooms was PHE-nom, nom, nom- in-AL!!! Dad can’t stop talking about what a spectacular night he had nor how special you all made him feel. A sincere thank you to everyone on staff that helped to make it memorable and especially to Matt B for going the extra mile! You will see us again for certain!!
Had the curry lobster. Expensive but delicious
PassionFish is usually very good but the 3-course Christmas Eve menu was a real disappointment. It seemed that everything was prepared prior to order or in a rush to get folks out for an early close. The calamari appetizer was over cooked and the whole crispy flounder with tamarind sauce, usually a favorite, was so over cooked it was actually dry and chewy. The crab cake entree was full of bread, low on crab and had an unpleasant pasty texture. The whole experience, except for our pleasant waitperson, was a real disappointment.
Xmas eve bday celebration
Wonderful meal and service. A very nice Christmas Eve outing.
Great experience for wedding anniversary.
Excellent food and service as always!
Was there on 12/22/19 celebrating our 40th anniversary. Excellent dining experience and the spouse truly enjoyed the food and ambiance. Guess she will keep me for a few more years as I hit a home run by choosing PassionFish for dinner👍🏼
While the service was very good, the food was just average and VERY expensive. The cioppino I had was OK, but only came with one small piece of bread, which is odd since the broth should be enjoyed with bread. Another dish came with rice that was cold, but the tuna that accompanied it was delicious. There were many inconsistencies within the dishes. For this rice point, one expects better.
Best restaurant in Reston
Superb all around, from friendly, helpful hostesses to a most attentive waitress to excellent food to quiet, pleasant ambience. My first time, but I'll be back!
