I had booked the restaurant based on previous good experiences at the Maddox Street branch - I had friends visiting London and they wanted a Thai restaurant.
We had a great table and the ambience of the restaurant good. We all enjoyed our starters - calamari, fish cakes, duck spring rolls were all good.
The main courses didn't arrive together and unfortunately 3 curries were cold on arrival to the table - the waiting staff took them back to the kitchen and after 2 attempts only one of the dishes was heated.
Unfortunately the communication from the 'manager' was poor and 2 of the party left the restaurant with no main course which was disappointing.
We appreciate that these things happen sometimes and other main courses - prawn green curry, beef noodles and pad thai went down well - however the service and communication could be improved.
The dishes were removed from the menu - but there was further confusion around the bill - again dealt with poorly by the 'manager'.
Probably would book a different Thai restaurant in the future - despite the positives.
Patara is a good restaurant and good for groups. The service was good, and anytime we asked for something, the staff were very helpful. The food was good - we had the set menu, although we had expected a tasting menu from the ad on Open Table, and there are a lot of tables that can accommodate 6 people. The wine was extremely expensive, and nothing special. This restaurant would suit people who want a lot of food - we were very full - I would have preferred slightly better quality food and a little less of it - but there was a good selection in the set menu, so it was fine. I was slightly disappointed as they asked if we were going specially for a birthday, which we were, but they didn't do or say anything, which is quite unusual! I probably wouldn't go back there again, as I would like something a bit more interesting, but if you are in Soho/going to the theatre, it is fine for a group.
Restaurant is average - not the best value for money, service is okay, but the restaurant is inflexible..
A real cut above your ordinary Thai restaurant.... The. Food had an exceptional freshness and zing and the service was attentive but not intrusive. Just perfect..... Price on the high side but really represents good value.
Eat at Patara very often. Food is incredible. Ambience is stunning. Friendly staff. Fab cocktails. Would highly recommend .
great staff, service and food. would highly recommend this place.
We went for a birthday meal for my husband with our 2 year old. When I called up to check if there was any age restrictions and if they had high chairs available I was told that there is no age restriction but if the child was too noisy that we would be asked to leave. We still decided to go. Upon arrival they sat us at the front of the restaurant, I can understand that they didn’t want our 2 year old to disturb the other diners. But then the service was slow. After each course I had to get out of my seat to get attention for the table to be cleared and the next course to be served. Same again when we wanted to order dessert. We had to cancel one of our desserts because it took too long to come out. We paid the service charge but in hind sight I don’t think the 12.5% was deserved.
We love Thai food and we really enjoyed the food, service and surroundings. Would definitely recommend and we will be going again!
The food was not as good as expected from the review. Too expensive for what it actually is.
Great food and atmosphere. However very noisy when fully packed.
We visited on a Friday evening and had the regular tasting menu. The food was good but not outstanding to remember. The noise level was high and we barely hear each other. Overall, a good experience but we would try another Thai restaurant next time.
It was my Mom’s birthday and we were looking for a nice meal before the theatre. The service was so helpful and prompt and all the staff surprised us with a complimentary cake and candle for her and sang to her. The food was very tasty and good portion sizes. Would definitely return!
Everything was great! Delicious and authentic Thai cuisine with excellent service made the evening a lovely experience.
Very enjoyable meal, with excellent food & service and a great ambiance.
First visit with two friends who also hadn't been before. Warm welcome on arrival. Lovely tranquil setting.
We ordered the set meal for 4 as gave us a good variety. The starters were beautifully presented and very tasty. Good selection of mains. See Bass, Thai Freen Curry and a beef dish with a side of steamed Broccoli and mushrooms and Hasmine rice.
There was do a delicious dessert too.
The sauces on all the mains were superb and the service professional and efficient. All in all, a great dining experience.
Food was good, but service was really disappointed, we advised several times that two of the person (one 80 years old) were going to take an started as a main course, vut eveb we explained ut several timets, it was served twice as started. The result was our family did nor dinner together, but at different times.
Unfortunately we had a table behind us of incredibly loud people so loud we and the table next to us could not hear anything we were saying. We believe in this situation the restaurant should say something politely
Great food and lovely cocktails. Staff were great. Good atmosphere.
Food was great. The restaurant needs better wall treatments to reduce the noise level. It was hard to hold a business conversation due to the noise level. Other than that, it’s a great restaurant for foodies and lovers of Thai food
Wow. Ordered lychee martinis which were absolute heaven. Then opted for the sharing starter which was not only delivered promptly but with guidance on how to enjoy and and which sauces to eat with which dishes. Mains were also perfect. Lovely setting. Can’t fault it.
Great food and fantastic service a bit on the pricy side but you get what you pay for sometimes and it’s worth it here. My only gripe was it was really noisy. I’m not sure if it was just a loud crowd or if the acoustics amplified normal conversation but either way it was difficult to hear each other at times.
Excellent food and service with a very good range of dishes from meat, fish and vegetarian options. Black cod was very good and timely service.
Fantastic food, service and very polite, patience staff.
My 2nd time, but surely be visiting again
Thanks to Patrick for making the experience even so great
Food was beautifully cooked and delicious. Excellent service. Restaurant had a lovely ambience and plenty of room ie large tables and comfortable seats.
A great place to eat before a show. Did was event and the staff were very friendly and attentive . We were watching Harry Potter parts 1 and 2 so needed the fits to be prompt which it was - in fact we had plenty of time and the restaurant is a short walk away up Greek Street.
Lovely food and lovely atmosphere. At times I've found it challenging to find decent Thai food (and not a watered down version) but this place ticks the box. It is expensive but definitely worth it for a special occasion (as we were celebrating). Exemplary service from the staff.
Another tasty and excellent meal at Patara. We love visiting this place when we come to London. The service was friendly and efficient, and we enjoyed our visit.
Amazing food - currently my favorite Thai restaurant in London
Wonderful experience i’ve had at Patara, food was lovely and the service was perfect. Will go back any time and recommend it to everyone !
2nd time at Patara Soho and it was just as good as the first!
Delicious food, great service, calming lemongrass scent, beautiful restaurant.
I ate green chicken curry which was full of flavour and one of the tastiest I’ve had, yum!
My husband ate prawn pad Thai and chilli prawns which were also superb.
Looking forward to my next visit already.
Patara is an amazing restaurant. We visited in 2012 on our last visit to London from the US. We had to return with our kids who love Thai food. The experience is 2019 was incredible. The staff are amazing and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Every was incredibly fresh and delicious. The drink were fantastic too.
Great atmosphere, staff was very friendly, good variety of food and good choice of wine. The only thing lacking - no background music, all you could hear is people chatting.
Outstanding food, service and ambience - I would highly recommend!
I love Patara - we found Patara first in Vienna and we’re thrilled to see they are in London as well and have been several time now and never disappoints. We went as a family of 4 with teenage daughters and had a great meal - we opted for banquet set menu for 4 which had loads of different food with bags of flavour! The drinks menu is good and service is exceptional! It’s not cheap but it’s worth it!
Wasn’t my cup of tea. Ordered beef in black pepper and it appeared and tasted very watery. The beef had a peculiar after taste that I didn’t quite fancy and it was significantly lacking flavour and wasn’t tender, quite hard to swallow. The egg fried rice was okay. The service was really good, staff very attentive, regularly refilled our glasses of water. Ambience was really nice and could be intimate. Attention to detail for service was really good
Very accommodating for one of our party of threes late arrival. Spicy levels were accurate - mild was indeed mild, and very hot spices were very, very hot in a separate dish. Excellent overall experience for pre-theater dining.
This review is about the special daytime menu.
The selection was good and the price excellent.
Portions great. The chili calamari was amazing, cooked to perfection.
The sea bass very tasty.
Staff friendly and welcoming.
Would recommend and would be interested to try in the evening as we were there at 4pm.
Lovely ambience, great food, service with a smile although as the meal progressed it definitely slowed down, perhaos as it was getting busier. Overall great place, would recommend it
The restaurant is beautiful. Traditional Thai decor. Food is amazing. Staff were extremely efficient and courteous. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Will definitely return
Excellent food! All vegetarian dishes were great. The veg salads were bright and refreshing. Excellent green curry!
