Patara - Soho
Only complaint was a flickering light above the table that was a bit annoying otherwise food and service was excellent!
One of the best Thai restaurant in Central London.
Staff is extremely nice and food is just great!
Beautiful food, full of flavour, service was attentive and fast. We were downstairs but it still felt very open. The noise did bounce around but still at a level to comfortably talk across the table. We had a few cocktails too which were lovely and we would happily go back again.
We went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon when the restaurant wasn't busy. Staff were friendly but service at times was quite slow. However, the food was delicious and the portion sizes were generous. A good choice for a pleasant meal and well worth a return visit in the future.
Great food and a good noise level so it’s great to catch up with friends as you can hear them speak- unlike the canteen atmosphere of some of the other Thai places.
The menu is creative and really tasty.
Great service too.
I went there before for dinner and was blown away by the various dishes. This time I took my friend there and went for the day time menu. Totally disappointed.. The services still very good but the food was not even half as good as my previous visit. Not sure if they have a different chef during the day..
Love it here. We go whenever we are in London. If you like Thai food in great surroundings and in a good location this is one not to miss.
Delicious food, excellent service, friendly attentive staff. Our go to Thai restaurant in the area!
We have dined many times at Patara Thai but this time sadly the service and food was not up to its normally high standards. The menu is smaller, the black cod is no longer available, we were told because it is expensive!! But it was worth it. Not sure if the restaurant group had changed hands or if it was just a bad night!! Either way, not up to their usual high standards which was sad,
Great food, much more inventive than your average Thai restaurant. Quite pricey but worth the extra.
I was very impressed with the service of the hostess or head waitress, not sure which she was. The food was great however I felt the portion was quite small which was the only downside.
It was our anniversary, it would have been nice if it had been somehow acknowledged considering I left a note to say so. In all my hubby and I had a good time. Will definitely recommend.
Food was incredible! Will definitely be looking to go back in the near future.
Great central location. Delicious food and good service and cosy atmosphere. Good lunch menu that is pretty good value.
It was a lovely and lively place. Even though it was busy, we got the food quickly and service was very good. The food was absolutely delicious! Will definitely come again!
Loved it here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would definitely come back...
Relaxed and comfortable with excellent service, but pricey. We had a glass of prosseco for £9 which came in the smallest glass flute I've ever seen and the cocktail seemed all ice and very little of anything else. When asked if we wanted water, I assumed it was on the house, but no, another almost £5. The options for vegetarians were limited. I've had much better Thai food out in the sticks at half the price. Underwhelmed and overpriced ...
Generally delicious but the Pad Thai was disappointing.
Seemed slightly overpriced
My main issue is that it’s over priced and the food quality doesn’t stand up to the eye-watering cost. My friend’s king prawn curry came and she couldn’t cut the prawns they were so undercooked and jelly-like still. My Pad Thai was really average - I didn’t particularly enjoy it. I also picked it as somewhere that was recommended as somewhere good for quiet conversation and there was an extremely loud group that forced my friend and I to shout to be heard across a small table together - admittedly this last point is not the fault of the restaurant, but does contradict what previous reviews suggest.
Nice ambience and surroundings let down by slightly chaotic service and only average food taste. Ordered vegetarian spring rolls, satay, green vegetable curry and garlic king prawns. The curry was too sweet. The king prawns were rubbery and lacked taste. The satay had a strong curry powder smell and flavour. The rice portions were tiny - barely enough for one person at £4.50 a portion. There was a time when Patara served very tasty and genuine Thai food, but I think it it too pre-occupied with profits now.
Some of the best Thai food I’ve had anywhere in the world. Complex, spicy, but not aggressive as some highly seasoned food can be. We had the tofu green curry and prawn Pad Thai. The Pad Thai was not overly sweet and sticky as some Pad Thais are. Very polite service. We would definitely return.
We had the banquet menu which was delicious, other than the dessert. It was salted caramel cheesecake but it was far too salty!
It is pricey for Thai, but we loved the variety of starters and mains.
Would recommend for a treat.
Very nice restaurant with a lot of culture. Curry was amazing . Definitely will vist again!
The food was nice but came out very quickly which rather gave the impression of it being a conveyor belt. This didn't match with the warning that tables are required back after 2 hours as we were done in an hour, and we had a drink, starter and main. The food was nice though and we enjoyed it.
Meat set menu. We were rushed through our menu which was ashame. Otherwise I would give a 5 star
Was ok, but that’s all - food just ok, service just ok - I had hoped it would have been a bit more special given reviews and location
Food is great, really good Thai food, however the English of staff is not so good. Sometimes they cannot understand my request
I had booked the restaurant based on previous good experiences at the Maddox Street branch - I had friends visiting London and they wanted a Thai restaurant.
We had a great table and the ambience of the restaurant good. We all enjoyed our starters - calamari, fish cakes, duck spring rolls were all good.
The main courses didn't arrive together and unfortunately 3 curries were cold on arrival to the table - the waiting staff took them back to the kitchen and after 2 attempts only one of the dishes was heated.
Unfortunately the communication from the 'manager' was poor and 2 of the party left the restaurant with no main course which was disappointing.
We appreciate that these things happen sometimes and other main courses - prawn green curry, beef noodles and pad thai went down well - however the service and communication could be improved.
The dishes were removed from the menu - but there was further confusion around the bill - again dealt with poorly by the 'manager'.
Probably would book a different Thai restaurant in the future - despite the positives.
Patara is a good restaurant and good for groups. The service was good, and anytime we asked for something, the staff were very helpful. The food was good - we had the set menu, although we had expected a tasting menu from the ad on Open Table, and there are a lot of tables that can accommodate 6 people. The wine was extremely expensive, and nothing special. This restaurant would suit people who want a lot of food - we were very full - I would have preferred slightly better quality food and a little less of it - but there was a good selection in the set menu, so it was fine. I was slightly disappointed as they asked if we were going specially for a birthday, which we were, but they didn't do or say anything, which is quite unusual! I probably wouldn't go back there again, as I would like something a bit more interesting, but if you are in Soho/going to the theatre, it is fine for a group.
Restaurant is average - not the best value for money, service is okay, but the restaurant is inflexible..
A real cut above your ordinary Thai restaurant.... The. Food had an exceptional freshness and zing and the service was attentive but not intrusive. Just perfect..... Price on the high side but really represents good value.
Eat at Patara very often. Food is incredible. Ambience is stunning. Friendly staff. Fab cocktails. Would highly recommend .
great staff, service and food. would highly recommend this place.
We went for a birthday meal for my husband with our 2 year old. When I called up to check if there was any age restrictions and if they had high chairs available I was told that there is no age restriction but if the child was too noisy that we would be asked to leave. We still decided to go. Upon arrival they sat us at the front of the restaurant, I can understand that they didn’t want our 2 year old to disturb the other diners. But then the service was slow. After each course I had to get out of my seat to get attention for the table to be cleared and the next course to be served. Same again when we wanted to order dessert. We had to cancel one of our desserts because it took too long to come out. We paid the service charge but in hind sight I don’t think the 12.5% was deserved.
We love Thai food and we really enjoyed the food, service and surroundings. Would definitely recommend and we will be going again!
The food was not as good as expected from the review. Too expensive for what it actually is.
Great food and atmosphere. However very noisy when fully packed.
We visited on a Friday evening and had the regular tasting menu. The food was good but not outstanding to remember. The noise level was high and we barely hear each other. Overall, a good experience but we would try another Thai restaurant next time.
It was my Mom’s birthday and we were looking for a nice meal before the theatre. The service was so helpful and prompt and all the staff surprised us with a complimentary cake and candle for her and sang to her. The food was very tasty and good portion sizes. Would definitely return!
Everything was great! Delicious and authentic Thai cuisine with excellent service made the evening a lovely experience.
Very enjoyable meal, with excellent food & service and a great ambiance.
