Let us introduce ourselves
Paysanne was opened in 1988 by my parents, Bob & Barbara Ross. Mum was a devotee of Elizabeth David and her love of simple, provincial French cookery. While she presented her dishes to the good people of North Wales, Dad kept their glasses topped up with wines sourced directly from small independent French vineyards. They retired to live in South West France in 2003, from where they still regularly dispatch their latest bottled discoveries.
We have shaken things up a little of late. With our chef of ten years, David Hughes, we have started serving Sunday lunch for the first time. We’re also allowing you the chance to start the weekend early with our new Friday lunch menu.
We have over a quarter of a century’s experience in the art of wining and dining our guests. We hope very much that you’ll join us soon.

Excellent service from the moment we walked through the door until the moment we left. The restaurant was full when we arrived but it didn’t feel too noisy or busy. The restaurant did feel a little on the warm side, however we probably felt it a little more as our table was right next to a radiator.
The time left in between courses was just right and we never felt rushed or as if we were waiting too long. The food was cooked to perfection and it tasted as good as it looked. Would definitely reccomend Paysanne to others and we look forward to returning in the near future.

The warm and personal welcome makes you feel more like a friend than a customer. The small and intimate dining room is a change from the usual large rooms. The menu covers many tastes, although not as extensive as some may like. The quality of the food has always been of the highest order.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary having travelled to North Wales for a few days, and found this lovely restaurant on the internet. We were not disappointed, staff, food and averall the experience was first rate.

Much to my husbands delight fish was very much in evidence on the menu.

We would certainly make another reservation when we are next in the area. so hope it will not be too long. A big thank you to all the staff at Paysanne.

From the warm, friendly and personal initial greeting we received, and throughout the evening, the humorous and genuine regard for top quality food, drink and service provided a memorable experience. Sadly, we live too far away from the restaurant, otherwise it would be a regular venue for delicious food, French ambience and terrific service. Thank you.

This restraunt is lovely & quaint with lots of character. The service is superb ...not rushed & lots of smiles. We thought the food was outstanding & me & my friend who I'd taken out to celebrate her Birthday were both impressed & had a lovely time here. Definitely be returning.🙂

We decided to try Paysanne after hearing great reviews from previous customers and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and excellent value as we went for the set menu option. I tried the stuffed mushroom wrapped in pastry for starters, followed by the caramelised pork fillet with a prune and armagnac sauce. I would definitely recommend.

Not somewhere we come to very often because of where we now live but every time we eat here we are never disappointed. Perfect food, perfect service, perfect everything. Paysanne hasn't changed in 25 years because they got it right first time. Thanks again.

Small intermate restaurant with warm atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. Food fresh and well prepared and presented. Would have liked a few more French inspired items such as scallops, frogs legs, rack of lamb, crepe Suzette etc

A nice cosy, friendly atmosphere and efficient service, considering most people arrived around the same time. My partner had the set menu. She could tell that the soup was home made. There was plenty of meat for the main pork dish. The almond and blueberry tart was very nice but would have preferred it with some pouring cream, rather than whipped.
To start, I had the asparagus tart. I found it a little dry - I imagined it coming with a runny egg which would have worked well with the asparagus but if I had read the description carefully, I wouldn't have been disappointed. The hake main course was very nice - a good thick piece of fish. Dessert was pears poached in white wine - I couldn't really taste the wine and thought it was a bit bland - it was quite chilled, so that may have taken some of the taste.
Overall, a good experience and value for money.

We had a lovely meal at Paysanne, lots of choice and excellent wine too. Staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. We were on holiday in Deganwy and this was the best meal that we had in our week and we enjoyed it so much we returned a second time before the end of our holiday, would definitely return.

This is our second visit to La Paysanne, it was just as good as the first time. We chose the set menu which was excellent value and included a glass of wine but there was an extensive a la carte menu. The service was outstanding, we were not rushed - we were allowed time between courses but at the same time we did not wait too long. The owner was helped to make the visit - friendly, witty and very helpful without being intrusive.
This was cheaper than a three course meal in a pub but the food was of as much higher standard than one would receive in a pub.
We are looking forward to our next visit.

This is about our fifth visit & as usual the food was excellent & as close to authentic French as you are going to get.
It was reasonably busy on this Friday lunchtime but the service was excellent.
My only complaint is that it's not open more often on weekday lunchtimes.

Service was friendly but slow - waited a while to be attended to once sat down and then they forgot the bottle of wine we ordered (only drink we had ordered).

The fish we both had (Hake and Sea Bass) for our mains were excellent. Potato with like a dry cheese crust was nice but would have preferred potato dauphinoise.
Starters and pudding were nice.

Excellent tasting cuisine, fish fresh and cooked just right, tasty sauces to accompany. Had the steak from special menu, very tender and full of flavour. We really liked the Vegetables served with dish, all served hot and cooked perfect. Great choice of wines. High quality fresh homemade and baked food! Have been here a few times and always look forward to eating at Paysanne! A special treat!

The service was very good - I requested oysters in advance and they had some for us which was great. The quality of the ingredients, particularly the fish, was very good. However, the overall presentation of the food and cooking style seemed a little old fashioned. We were very full and did not have pudding but the ones we saw others eating looked delicious. Interesting wine list. Overall, good experience but would like a bit more adventure with the food.
