Paysanne was opened in 1988 by my parents, Bob & Barbara Ross. Mum was a devotee of Elizabeth David and her love of simple, provincial French cookery. While she presented her dishes to the good people of North Wales, Dad kept their glasses topped up with wines sourced directly from small independent French vineyards. They retired to live in South West France in 2003, from where they still regularly dispatch their latest bottled discoveries.
We have shaken things up a little of late. With our chef of ten years, David Hughes, we have started serving Sunday lunch for the first time. We’re also allowing you the chance to start the weekend early with our new Friday lunch menu.
We have over a quarter of a century’s experience in the art of wining and dining our guests. We hope very much that you’ll join us soon.
A lovely evening with great food and ambience. Will definitely visit again and would recommend.
Yet another fantastic meal enjoyed at Paysanne. We don't get the chance to dine out often but we do we want to have the assurance of a great experience - somewhere to enjoy amazing food at an affordable price in a relaxed atmosphere. We like trying out different dishes and this time I've had the sea bream with an incredible sauce and my hubby thought the tart of the day (blueberry and almond tart) divine!
Had a lovely meal. Small intimate restaurant with a lovely ambiance. Attentive and friendly staff.
We had not been to paysanne for many years ,but decided to go for my partners birthday .Well what a fantastic meal we had service was excellent and food was yummie . We have a b and b locally and will be recommending to our guests
I have been to this restaurant several times and it never disappoints. Went for a workplace catch up and everyone enjoyed their food and we are hoping to book for our Christmas party
Just a lovely experience to round off a short break. No fuss on line booking - great menu - offers great value and flavours
10/10 thoroughly recommend and will return
Good quality food and friendly staff. Soup needed a bit more seasoning but my fish was beautifully cooked. One of the very few places in the area that serves proper restaurant food of restaurant quality.
Excellent meal everything as should been presentation very good
Will deafently be coming back
Good welcome, good service . Food was disappointing . Bland, overcooked veg, soup and the fish bland too.
Excellent as usual; charming service, wonderful food and reasonable price.
Excellent food and service on Sunday Will return Thanks
Excellent restaurant. Lovely food. Very friendly staff. Will definitely return when we are in the area.
Never a disappointment at this venue, always great food and impeccable service thanks to Cae and his team.
Top class service and food
Excellent food, great service and lovely atmosphere. We often visit to celebrate special occasions.
Our first visit to Paysanne and we instantly loved the place. Our hosts were very welcoming and the restaurant had a lovely feel about it.
The food was excellent- lots of choice on the menu. Service was good, the staff were attentive without being intrusive and our meals were really delicious.
Will definitely be returning . Very impressed. Thank you
Love this restaurant, great food , service and atmosphere. Always a lovely experience.
Went to this French restaurant for Friday lunch just before Christmas. The restaurant is cosy and the food was very good and we found it good value for money. The front of house had impeccable manners and served us with an air of flamboyance which we very much appreciated. Will definitely go back again in te spring to tast the ‘printemps’ menu.
Lovely ambience, food, staff, wine list. Great for special occasions. Definitely return soon.
Great Meal as always and excellent service
Do not be put off by the relatively short published menu. There is a wide variety of specials on offer, particularly locally sourced seafood. An excellent, small independent restaurant.
Paysanne never fails, great food great service, can’t wait till the next time.
As always not disappointed with our visit to the Paysanne.
Cai was in good form as ever and the menu choice for a Sunday lunch was very good.
Looking forward to a quick return
Food was great, good flavours and freshly prepared. The location is unusual being a converted terraced house but adds to the homely feel. Very short walk from the Quay Hotel (where we stayed) and made a good alternative for an evening meal for a short break. It was full on a Sat so plan to book in advance. Only minor let down was the plates were cold (when we were told to take care as they were hot!), so some of the meals were cooler than ideal
Excellent service from the moment we walked through the door until the moment we left. The restaurant was full when we arrived but it didn’t feel too noisy or busy. The restaurant did feel a little on the warm side, however we probably felt it a little more as our table was right next to a radiator.
The time left in between courses was just right and we never felt rushed or as if we were waiting too long. The food was cooked to perfection and it tasted as good as it looked. Would definitely reccomend Paysanne to others and we look forward to returning in the near future.
Lunch or dinner never lets you down consistently excellent.
Excellent food and drinks your front of house Carl great host
Fresh local food all cooked to order. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.
Atmosphere, food and service as good as always, would highly recommend
The warm and personal welcome makes you feel more like a friend than a customer. The small and intimate dining room is a change from the usual large rooms. The menu covers many tastes, although not as extensive as some may like. The quality of the food has always been of the highest order.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary having travelled to North Wales for a few days, and found this lovely restaurant on the internet. We were not disappointed, staff, food and averall the experience was first rate.
Much to my husbands delight fish was very much in evidence on the menu.
We would certainly make another reservation when we are next in the area. so hope it will not be too long. A big thank you to all the staff at Paysanne.
We have dined at Paysanne on many occasions over the last 20 years. The food, atmosphere and service has always been of the highest standard. It is our first choice venue when dining out.
Went recently for Sunday lunch with family. An excellent meal was had by all. Most of us had the roast beef and it was great. Desserts were nice. Overall, good value for money.
Lovely restaurant a la carte and fixed menus and it was a lovely 3course meal and glass of wine for £21
From the warm, friendly and personal initial greeting we received, and throughout the evening, the humorous and genuine regard for top quality food, drink and service provided a memorable experience. Sadly, we live too far away from the restaurant, otherwise it would be a regular venue for delicious food, French ambience and terrific service. Thank you.
This restraunt is lovely & quaint with lots of character. The service is superb ...not rushed & lots of smiles. We thought the food was outstanding & me & my friend who I'd taken out to celebrate her Birthday were both impressed & had a lovely time here. Definitely be returning.🙂
We decided to try Paysanne after hearing great reviews from previous customers and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and excellent value as we went for the set menu option. I tried the stuffed mushroom wrapped in pastry for starters, followed by the caramelised pork fillet with a prune and armagnac sauce. I would definitely recommend.
Not somewhere we come to very often because of where we now live but every time we eat here we are never disappointed. Perfect food, perfect service, perfect everything. Paysanne hasn't changed in 25 years because they got it right first time. Thanks again.
Small intermate restaurant with warm atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. Food fresh and well prepared and presented. Would have liked a few more French inspired items such as scallops, frogs legs, rack of lamb, crepe Suzette etc
A nice cosy, friendly atmosphere and efficient service, considering most people arrived around the same time. My partner had the set menu. She could tell that the soup was home made. There was plenty of meat for the main pork dish. The almond and blueberry tart was very nice but would have preferred it with some pouring cream, rather than whipped.
To start, I had the asparagus tart. I found it a little dry - I imagined it coming with a runny egg which would have worked well with the asparagus but if I had read the description carefully, I wouldn't have been disappointed. The hake main course was very nice - a good thick piece of fish. Dessert was pears poached in white wine - I couldn't really taste the wine and thought it was a bit bland - it was quite chilled, so that may have taken some of the taste.
Overall, a good experience and value for money.
