Pera Mediterranean brings an authentic taste & hospitality of eastern Mediterranean cuisine to London’s Islington.
Pera derives its name from an elegant neighborhood in Istanbul (Officially known as Beyoğlu) that has served as the melting pot for many cultures and cuisines since the 17th century. Husband (Head Chef) and Wife (Restaurant Manager) team from Turkey are collaboratively introducing lesser known mezes and meat preparations to a London audience. Pera features numerous mezes, specially prepared and marinated cuts of grilled meats and seafood, traditional and modern Mediterranean side dishes and regional breads baked a la minute.Guests can choose from a variety of different cuts of lamb, beef and chicken, or opt for lighter options from the lunch menu featuring assorted servings of house specialities.
Our waitress did not understand what Gluten free meant in relation to the menu and as one of our party has celiac disease this was a little disturbing. The food was good and well presented but our six meals did not all come out together my husband’s was about 5 minutes behind the rest of the table.
Another great meal. The pre-theatre set menu is excellent value and includes some very good choices. Service is efficient. I had houmous topped with lamb and the adana kebab and both were really good. My daughter had the courgette fritters which she loved.
Lovely food with a good choice on the menu. The waiters were very friendly, without being pushy. Good value and a super restaurant. Would strongly recommend.
Super evening from a warm welcome to lovely and plentiful mezze. Would definitely drop by again if I'm going out in the area.
Enjoyable meal at Pera. Kebabs and cops were particularly good. Very few people in there early evening between Christmas and new year. Got a Bailey’s or amarettto on the house at the end )we were a big party)
Really friendly staff, delicious food and lovely lively atmosphere - would definitely recommend it and plan to return many times!
We came as a fairly big group and we really enjoyed ourselves. The portions were large and the food was very good (including vegetarian options). The decor is nice. We would definitely recommend.
Went in a group before Christmas. The staff were lovely and food was good and reasonably priced and so was the wine. Ideal for a low cost group night out.. My only gripe was the awful Christmas music on a loop but I suppose it was Christmas. It seemed a bit out of place in a Turkish too.
Excellent service ! The food was also delicious and well prepared. Shame we don't live locally, but will definitely make another visit if we are nearby.
Pets never fails to deliver fresh, tasty and amazing value food, served by the friendliest staff. Always a winner.
Great service from friendly staff, good food (& wine) and great value. My friend and me had a really enjoyable evening.
Celebrating GCSE results, lovely food and great service.
Only downside was they had another large group who were extremely loud!!, so loud in fact my nephew (who was the one we were celebrating) had to leave the restaurant early due to a headache.
Absolutely amazing restaurant, despite us probably making it difficult for the waitress to understand our orders (we’d had a lot of wine beforehand!) they got every single thing right, the food was fantastic, the portions astronomical, the price simply brilliant. I’m pretty sure we stayed a lot later than the restaurant closes but they simply let us enjoy ourselves. Everyone said it was the best experience they’d had in a long time and we will all be returning! Can’t wait
Our second visit, and just as enjoyable as the first. It really is great value, and the staff are very friendly.
Excellent value, very friendly. A real find.
Eaten there lots of times and have never been disappointed. Good value for money. I recommend the chicken shish . Nice and cosy in winter and in the summer you can sit outside.
Friendly, attentive staff who were good enough to put up a birthday banner and balloons, as I'd ticked the special occassion box when I booked through Open Table. Such a lovely gesture that was very much appreciated.
Food tasty and good sized portions, though a few more imaginative vegetarian options would be welcomed.
We ate early, so relatively quite, which was good for my elderly parents. They both really enjoyed it.
Great food and service!
The staff were very charming and made us feel very welcome despite when we arrived at 22:00 hrs and there were only two other customers already in the restaurant. Although I am sure the staff would have rather gone home they mad3 our evening very special, a catch up with our son and his partner. The food was very good and value for money, we also enjoyed the bottled beer, Efes I believe it was called. A lovely meal and would certainly recommend.
Pera is a pleasant Turkish restaurant with a good standard of Mediterranean food. The staff were friendly and helpful and food came promptly. We would use it again.
Definitely one of the best of the many Turkish restaurants on Upper Street, and well worth walking the extra few metres up Upper Street if you're going to the theatre at the Almeida or the King's Head. They start with a good Turkish breakfast menus and run right through to late dinners. The food is always reliably good, service comes with a smile and is efficient, and the wine list is very reasonably priced (I recommend the Cote du Rhone if you're having a red).
Prompt and happy service. Very good food for the price.
Can’t fault the food here. I love this place.
Just good food special budget menus and very pleasant staff. Reasonable priced food.
Great restaurant with some fixed menus that were excellent.
Food was excellent and fantastic value.
Tip top service that seemed to have a real family feel.
Only shame was West Ham lost to the Gunners
Lovely place and fantastic food! Highly recommend Pera. We had complimentary feta cheess, dips and bread plus complimentary liquor to end! Thank you!
Very good service. We chose the seafood, and the food was fresh, clean and tasty. Will return again to the Pera!
Pera is okay but suggest you keep your expectations down. Friendly staff though.
Excellent service and value for money. Great food.
Took the pre-theatre supper, but the a la carte is reasonably priced too. Good food and generous portions. Very attentive service and good value. Pleasant ambience, but too dark once they put the lights down.
Food was nice enough, service was a bit slow. I had booked for a special occasion, mentioned it on the booking but no reference was made to my husband’s birthday. I took my daughter who is a vegetarian, they had an excellent choice of veggie meals. The baklava were very tasty. Don’t dress up for this restaurant, go casual. Despite being a Saturday night , we needn’t have booked, it was suprisingly quiet.
The staff are extremely friendly and polite and the food is well cooked and very tasty. If you like Turkish food, you should definitely pop by for a bite!
Lovely little place
Staff very friendly efficient
The food was lovely and very reasonably priced
We have eaten at Pera on a number of occasions. As with every previous visit, the service was friendly and the food was fresh, tasty and great value.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Excellent portions and good value for the location. Service was great and they threw in free dips/sauces with the starters and then a drink of our choice with the bill.
Perfect service, very well priced, amazing food. Warm family vibe with comfortable settings! We were very very happy..
My partner and I visit Pera quite often after football. We have never been disappointed. Very cosy atmosphere, staff are curtious and friendly. Food is very good for value and tasty. I would recommend it.
I absolutely love this restaurant. I try to go as often as possible. You can't beat the £15 three course dinner. You'll never have a better lamb chop!
A pleasant good value unhurried meal with good service.
This place has a lovely vibe and the food is tasty. Portions are large, so order wisely. The starters were very tasty. My lamb cutlets were delicious, but some of the other cuts of meat were a little overcooked - luckily I was with English people who prefer their meat that way! The staff were lovely.
