I don't know why this terrific restaurant is not always packed.
One of the best places I have eaten in California.
The menu is small but I have tried just about everything. no complaints.
Excellent meal! Love that they have a 3,4 or 5 course Prix Fixe option - we did the 4 course. The savory parmesan custard is amazing! Great food, great service and an extensive wine list with reasonable prices. We will definitely be back!
This is hands down our favorite restaurant. We always feel welcome and the food is heavenly. The staff feel like friends. How does Cori fix new dishes often that are fantastic? She has a gift.
Everything was very good. The restaurant feels cozy and homey. The pasta with cheese and truffle was divine. The Parmesan custard was inventive. I loved the food. The problem came at the end when they had to keep coming back and asking for my card 3 separate times because she couldn’t get it right. First they charged me for the wrong check and didn’t charge me enough, I thought they should’ve eaten that mistake but whatever, give them my card back, she comes back and I find out she didn’t factor in the $100 cash I have to put towards the check and instead of charging me $25 she charged me the entire $140 check. After 3 serial’s charges and simmering else taking over it was finally right but I didn’t get an apology or a comp off my bill or anything which was just odd honestly. I’d go back for the food but this was the owners wife so I’d expect an apology from her at the very least.
The food and the service are excellent. The place is small.
We had a great time there.
We took a friend here and he was super impressed and delighted to dine in such a lovely space, try a new dish and satisfy his Issues with "gluten free" diet.
We were thrilled as usual.
Wonderful owners great food
We absolutely love this restaurant and dine here frequently. It's our neighborhood gem. Love this family owned and run business.
Sunday night we noticed that our requests were not all acknowledged or brought to us when asked, but there was only Alex and Alea so that made us more understanding.
Sometimes things happen and you know the regulars, so they may slip in the attention and service to them.
The food was yummy and we made the best of it.
Have eaten here a couple of times & found the food to be excellently prepared. This time it had perhaps been sitting too long.
Lamb sausages good but over done, same with the prime rib, which was disappointing.
Ravioli was lovely as was the dessert. Wine pairings great and fun!
We went to Persephone and had a wonderful time. The owner helped us pick wines and let us sample a few before we settled on our chosen glasses. She was so personable and fun. The Cesar Boudino was really original and super tasty. Our citrus salad was super duper fresh. Both of our entrees were great - real truffle on my pasta! The chocolate cake was fabulous and the presentation was beautiful. The place itself is super cozy and warm. We had a great time and highly recommend it, especially for a romantic evening.
It consistently excellent dining experience. Inventive and tasty food.
We enjoyed the meal we had and generally appreciated the service however there was a significant error on the bill which was corrected, however it didn't inspire confidence. Perhaps caution is advised.
First-timers to this wonderful restaurant. We’re already returning next month! It was a delightful dining experience from ambiance through service, menu, wine offerings, and food preparation / presentation. Well done!
Had a wonderful time with my fiancé. Perfect date night. Food was amazing. There was no coffee offered at the end of the meal which was not necessarily needed. And portions were a bit on the smaller side. Will definitely go back.
This is one of the finest farm to table restaurants in the Santa Cruz area. I've been to many, and there is a sameness about them that Persephone is able to rise above. Truly outstanding flavors, wide selection of both vegetarian and meat dishes, and a diverse wine list.
This was our third time dining at Persephone and we continue to be amazed with the menu and the creativity of chef Cori. Brittnii waited on us and was both knowledgeable and a good fun! I highly recommend Persephone.
We love this restaurant! The place is so cozy and cute inside and the food is always delicious. Service is really top notch and personable. In terms of food to order, my favorite is the chicken, and the house Pinot Grigio is really really tasty, tart and citrusy and a hint sweet.
We had a great meal at Persephone. I had best beef loin I’ve ever had at a restaurant (I’ll go back just for that!) and we had some very creative dishes that were excellent. We’ll definitely be visiting Persephone again.
Quaint, charming, classy and delicious. This is a wonderful place to tantalize all the senses.
Really fine dining, innovative menu using local fare. The ambience is quite noisy, which is really the only distraction or detraction, but that means the place is crowded and popular.
Absolutely terrific food. It is now our
Our anniversary dinner tradition continues. Love Persephone!
Great dining experience; unique and delicious combinations of flavor. Will definitely return!!
Our second recent trip here did not disappoint. Service was flawless; noise level much better than last time. I would recommend getting here early for a quieter experience.
Best meal I've had in a long time locally. But yowza is it loud in there! worth it though.
Local family owned restaurant that takes advantage of local produce and local wines. Elegant evening.
My wife and I attended a special wine pairing dinner, held in conjunction with a local winery. We thought the pairings were outstanding and the dishes spanned a pretty broad range. All was fresh, beautifully presented and very tasty. We would certainly go back. There are a few practical issues to note. Like many modern restaurants, Persephone's interior is all hard surfaces and high ceilings. Sound bounces around and the noise level rises so it can be difficult to hear someone across the table from you. Parking is limited (8 spaces); there's usually space at the shopping center across Soquel Dr, but it's not fun crossing the busy street.
UPDATE: Parking is better than I realized-- it includes about 10 additional spaces that I thought belonged to the adjacent business just downhill. Good to know!
We love the seasonal menu, the creativity and changes , and the ambiance, the fantastic wait staff, yummy wines and desserts.
It's our favorite local spot for casual and fancy dining.
This is the BEST restaurant in Aptos by far. Not to mention our waiter was beyond amazing and had really cool earrings. Highly Highly recommend!!
Great little place with delicious food and sweet ambience. Was our first time here and we plan to come back.
Overall the food was good, although the sides with my steak were not very complimentary. Wine list has too many local wines. Lighting is a little too bright for a romantic dining experience.
Persephone is a small but homey restaurant. Brittnii, the hostess, was outstanding -- exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food — quince-glazed chicken for me and risotto with pork belly for my wife -- was impeccable. I wanted to eat slower to savor the flavors, but it was just too good; I nearly ordered a second serving to go. The wine selection is unlike anything I've ever seen, and the wine-pairing knowledge of the kitchen crew is just as impressive. My only criticism is the brightness and volume of the small space, but I will absolutely be back for more.
Favorite restaurant in the area. The Potter family
The food is excellent - one of the best in the area! However, it is unfortunate that the service doesn't live up to the status of the restaurant. When you are paying for fine dining, you expect a fine dining experience and unfortunately, this just doesn't have it. The waiter never checked in on us, didn't offer us a 2nd of anything, didn't ask if we wanted anything else... but handily dropped our bill off before we asked. How did he know we didn't want coffee or another glass of wine? Seriously missed opportunity.
The fish of the day was truly outstanding. The chicken pasta dish and the risotto with pork belly, all very delicious. The salad had a rich dressing that really surprised us - light but rich in flavors. Both the soups we tried were excellent. The dessert, meh... nothing special. Notable, but small wine list.
We will be back but hope to get a more experienced, professional waiter next time.
The salad was great. I ordered the vegetarian entree. What I got looked like it should have been an appetizer. My wife’s pasta was overcooked.
I usually like Persephone but this was extremely disappointing.
We were pleasantly surprised by their beer dinner with Fruition Brewery. Food was spot on. Each course well paired with beer offering. Service was great! Hope they do this again.
Great, original recipes/food presentations. Good service, very enjoyable meal. Definitely will come back to this small, family-run restaurant. A neighborhood gem.
Loved the restaurant. Service was good, food was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. The restaurant was in an old house, and was a bit cooler than I would’ve liked. I was hoping for “cozy” since it was a brisk fall evening. But ambiance was nice. We loved it.
Nice place overall. The food was good, nothing that I would consider special or memorable.
Best dinner we've had recently. A surprise in Aptos.
