   Beautiful location and the quality of food is very good but I feel that the prices are just too expensive. £60 for a 2 course meal with the portions being a very average size and a very small portion of sides, the additional £7- £8 for any further sides! I would say that the ambience and general quality of food is great but prices need to be cheaper- its not a Michelin star restaurant at all!

   Wonderful venue. The sole was fantastic! The steak was OK but I've had better I have to say. The service was really good and attentive, but we waited for the mains for a long time (over 45 minutes). As the venue is lovely we didn't mean mind that the wait. I'd definitely go back

   We have been for lunch a few times in the past and absolutely loved it. We even had our wedding reception here. But the service for dinner was awful - ran out of the starters we wanted, served us raw dough, drinks forgotten, melon and ham without the ham - and the food was disappointing. They cancelled our bill which was a nice gesture. But we had been looking forward to a nice meal for a while and I would rather have had that than our money.

   Quirky but beautiful setting. Interesting menu, good food, good service and a unique experience. Good for celebrations as well ! Caters for all ages. Not cheap but excellent quality for the price.

    Beautiful setting for a Sunday lunch. Food was spectacular (although expected for the price) and ambience very pleasant. Service was not as slick as it has been on some occasions, but not a huge detractor. Only complaint about the table we had was that it backed on to the glass conservatory where the smaller cafe is based - and seemed to be the area where old trays were being piled and discarded - which we could both see and hear, and which detraced a little from the magic. This could be an easy fix.

    We had booked this restaurant for a going away party for two of our dearest friends. The first disappointment was discovering the restaurant only offers a very expensive fixed menu (at £90 per person), something that it is not sufficiently clear in my view on its website. It should be highlighted. Once our friends arrived, it took my husband to get up to grab our waitress to come and take our orders, otherwise nobody was paying attention. The restaurant had run out of the wine of our choice. The starters (a small portion of fried vegetables and very tiny pieces of melon and equally tiny morsels of prosciutto) arrived 40 minutes later, the first of a series of slow delivery of our dishes. Again my husband had to get up to check on the main course, the kitchen was struggling, apparently they were having hard time coping with all the tables they booked and there had been a wedding in the morning. The whole dinner (3 courses) took 2 hours and 20 minutes, and it was not our choice to sit for this long. The portions were ok, and the quality of the food was also fine, but not exceptional. It does not justify the hefty price. To apologise for the slow and inattentive service, which we were charged for, the manager offered free coffees and digestive drinks for all, which at that point we did not take. We were left wondering how a restaurant can offer such poor service and slightly more than average dishes for such a price. We would not go back.

    Very nice location. Food was good but took ages to arrive. Service was haphazard. Pricing for a three course meal at 90 + compulsory service charge - lunch seems a lot better value than dinner.

    My family of 6 went for dinner at Petersham cafe in December last year just before Christmas and we had a fabulous time so we thought we’d go again to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary (2nd marriage) We were deeply disappointed by the menu and food this time. As vegans and vegetarians there was very little choice and what was on offer was far too oily and rich. Not a bitter leaf salad in sight which we all absolutely loved last time. My mother ended up having 2 sides as a main course of a bowl of potatoes and a bowl of tomatoes. I had to plead for some bread and nuts as my dinner was also very inadequate. We waited for over 40 minutes for our starters which isn’t good enough. At £90 a head x 8 this was uncomfortably expensive for what we got..

    A beautiful place to go, and spend time in; truly scrumptious eats (inspirationally so); excellent wines and a delightfully charming team - just a little more expensive than I thought (for lunch)… but the perfect birthday treat.

    We had a very poor experience. The table was too close to others, tucked in to the corner on the left as you walk in. Food very average for the price, poor selection of side dishes, either potatoes or tomatoes. Table next to us so noisy with one guests constant loud laughter. We had to time our conversations around the noise. We felt like we had been to a music concert after. Beautiful looking restaurant and great if you are seated near the fountain in the middle, but based on my experience I wouldn’t recommend it or go back.

    My absolutely favourite restaurant. Service is speedy & on point. They always make every visit a memory. The only criticism I have is to make more of a guests birthday then just a candle in your dessert,

    NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE. This was my 3rd visit to the Petersham Restaurant (not the Cafe or the Tea Room) since October and sadly I was bitterly disappointed. I took my mom and a friend for a birthday lunch and I wish the lunch could have have been better. My pasta Vongole starter was awful and the portion was more a main course then a starter portion. I did not finish it. We ordered a bottle of wine with our meal. No one can to top up or wine. I finished my glass of wine. Still no one came to top up our wine or refill our glasses. Eventually I had to ask someone... To make matters worse our main course was forgotten. Tables around us (that arrived after us) got there main courses as we waited and waited. Over an hour after arriving I eventually had to ask a waiter about our mains... The dishes were then brought fairly promptly, we had the salmon, but I can only say that I could have cooked better at home. There was no apology from the waiter (about our wait for our main courses) and 2 minutes after the dishes were delivered he was over to enquire as to wether we were enjoying our meals. We barely had time to taste it. My feedback on the meal: not memorable at all... I accidentally knocked my glass over after our plates were taken. We had to wait for the table to be mopped up - when the restaurant was already pretty empty as it was almost 4pm. Our flower arrangement and water carafe that had been removed from the table (due to the slight spillage from my knocked over glass) were left on the table next to us... until I collected them and placed them back on our table. I can honestly say that I have had better service at most high street chain restaurants... A friend who recently visited the Petersham cafe also mentioned to me how poor the level of service was and how stale their cake was(!). To the management and owners of Petersham my message to you is "A lot of work needs to be done!" Such a disappointing experience!

    Set in a beautiful setting. The staff were very friendly. There was a wedding happening at the same time so there was a delay in getting our mains. We were not allowed the explore the garden due to the wedding which wasn't great. I felt it was pricier for the food that was offered.

    A wonderful setting and ambience and charming front of house and waiting staff. The food was nice but not of the levels of yesteryear and certainly the price tag did not match what was essentially decent gastro pub grub but no more than that. For the pricing of the Nurseries would recommend the Dysart as the better bet in that locale.

    The pasta cacio e pepe starter was under cooked (I like my pasta al dente, this was under cooked). The burrata was very good. The main meal sole had an odd though not strong flavour. The chicken main was good but not very good. This came to £65pp without alcohol. You should expect excellence for that. It simply wasn’t. Much better quality for money paid can be found elsewhere. Perhaps nice to go to the cafe, the restaurant isn’t worth the money.

    Lovely location and very interesting menu, but the actual food was disappointing given the price. The starters and desserts were good, but the main course fish was over-cooked and dry and the steaks were charred on the outside and raw on the inside. There were also a few mistakes with the order, although they were very attentive with regards to food allergies. I'd give it another try as it might have just been an off-day.
