Petersham Nurseries Cafe Richmond
It is a place of calm, away from the bustle of London, that respects and is in tune with nature and positive living.
The Boglione family, who own the nurseries and live in the adjoining Petersham House are rooted to their blend of British and Italian culture which remains at the heart of the business and is reflected in the style of the food that is served. Petersham Nurseries Café is inspired by what is growing in our kitchen garden and by the produce supplied to us by our sister company, Haye Farm.
Whilst maintaining their passion for simplicity, flora, fauna and responsibly sourced produce they have created an unparalleled setting just outside of central London.

Very good food, delicious for every course. Desserts were fantastic, particularly the Grappa soaked sponge with pine nuts. Very good and attentive service.
The loveliest place. Great food and beautiful setting
The service received from our waiter was rude to say the least. I have never experienced service so rude and had food thrown at the table. The man had no manners and this isn’t what you expect from an expensive restaurant.
Everything was perfect, from the ambience to the service to the food. A great experience and would definitely recommend for any type of evening dinner or occasion.
Outstanding menu choices, food was excellent, service excellent, waiter very knowledgeable about wines. Overall fantastic experience.
Excellent service but felt the lunch was overpriced, however, the overall experience was delightful.
Parking a nightmare.
I have been before
It is not cheap, but excellent for a very nice dining experience
Delicious food but a very long wait between the first course and the main course (over an hour) as our server forgot to follow through with the main course.
We were given a complimentary glass of wine and a reduction in the bill but I just wish we’d been served on time!
A fantastic night our
Great food service and atmosphere
Can’t wait to go back don’t hestitate just go, food, scenery, ambience and service 5 stars
Always a nice experience and auch a treat to dine in the nurseries 🥰
Nice food and setting, something a little different.
Lovely food and service at Petersham Nurseries Cafe in Richmond. I had the beetroot salad and chicken which they adjusted for my allergies. My husband's risotto starter was delicious, the highlight of the meal, but the lamb was too rare for him. We should have predicted this as that is the trend. The staff were masked, which is reassuring. Be aware that the cafe has a sand floor, so don't wear shoes that are easily marked. Clothing is casual to smart.
If you go for the place, the grounds are always lovely, food is mediocre, you can eat it, but for what you pay, it’s uninspiring, even for a “bistro “ standard, my soup was nice, normal, my husband risotto, overcooked.
The service is very good, almost 20£
A village donation of 2£ was added, without asking! You know what to expect
The food and atmosphere were amazing I personally found the food too expensive (2 courses for £55)and the fact that they don’t make you aware of the set menu at the time of your booking is not great form when you are paying that much.
Attentive service and lovely ambience. Good but variable food - some dishes lacking the wow factor (eg some very fatty lamb, and damson sorbet with slivers of crystallised pear, rather than a whole pear that we'd hoped for).
Lovely location, great food
An overdue catch up with a friend - food was absolutely delicious and we loved each of our dishes. The fig starter was incredible.
Service was a little hit and miss at times which was a little irksome waving down to order, waving down for wine and drinks orders. It’s a very atmospheric place but with the setting I didn’t take my jacket off once it was a little nippy and it’s only October!
Would definitely visit again.
We had a really wonderful experience. Our only comment was that the courses were pretty big! I could have done with just two starters! But lovely food.
Exceptional dining in uniquely beautiful and relaxed surroundings. Staff very friendly and charming, service excellent.
A tad noisy - pretty full of chatty lunchers… and truthfully, on the expensive side for a
Lunch with just water and a coffee. Felt more expensive than the last time I was with you and means I won’t come as often !
We were 6 lady friends, none of us had been to Petersham before so very excited. The food, particularly the starters looked and tasted beautiful. A minor mix up where one of our mains was overlooked was rectified efficiently, promptly and professionally. We all left feeling very happy and replete - couldn't manage a dessert.
All in all a memorable occasion, fantastic thankyou
Lovely friendly staff, delicious food and great ambience.
The setting was beautiful & the service was good but, personally, I was underwhelmed by the food. For the price I was expecting extremely tasty fare. Perhaps we didn't choose our dishes well. Our bill was c.£230 for 2 for lunch (including wine & service).
Lovely ambience and service but let down by the food and price .Excellent appetizers with mini pizza and fried fish cheeks. Beef carpaccio starter and squid risotto were very good. Beef sirloin was far over salted. Duck breast was okay. One dessert good and the other (frangipane) bland. The biggest issue was value for money at £90 per head.
I wouldn’t go back. Underwhelming, Overpriced and Insincere.
Accommodating staff when problems with running late. Very understanding and helpful.
Venue is delightful. Relaxed, boho, stunning.
Service was attentive but insincere. They took note of the fact it was a special occasion but failed to take note on the day. Asked all the right questions as if on a tick list.
The sheer volume of competing high end restaurants made me think this would be a wonderful dining experience given ‘the buzz’ following it has.
The food was mediocre at best. The delicate fig and mozzarella was overpowered by a swimming pool of olive oil which totally overpowered the dish. The monkfish was over cooked and the best part of the dish was the plate it came on.
Wine and champagne were wonderful.
The 12.5.% discretionary service charge was added to an unwarrantedly large big.
I’m not shy to pay for amazing dining experiences but this will not be one I will repeat.
Love the space and the concept. The food is nice but menu price is too high in spite of portions being quite generous.
£90 for three dishes plus appetiser as only option can be a bit steep for many. Add drink and you're talking over £100 per person! That's expensive for an evening non Michelin meal.
It would be useful to have an option for a 2 dish menu at a lower price.
Not everyone can eat all that food!
Will visit again but in the day time when menu is more flexible and reasonably priced. Do love the place!
Superb lunch at Petersham. Food was fantastic. The quality of ingredients is clear and the dishes are well executed. Waiter was very good. My only criticism would be the ladies on the reception for the restaurant could have been friendlier. Other than this, it was fantastic.
Relaxed italian feel with super professional service and amazing food and wine. Go!
Brilliant food, great service
Great last minute booking, which was a pleasure. Would highly recommend
Our server was excellent and able to very quickly help us identify all the items on the menu that could be adjusted given the dietary requirements of the group. The food was beautifully presented and though we had to wait a while for our mains, they were absolutely delicious. Sadly there were two ladies with their dogs present, one of which was yelping throughout our meal. Nothing seemed to be done about this (we had people with dog allergies at our table).
Venue location and food makes it an absolute must revisit
We visited Petersham Nurseries Restaurant for a special lunch. Really pleased we did - great atmosphere, superb food and excellent service. Not cheap - but definitely worth the cost. We shall go there again!
Great food, service, ambiance. Love it. Unique one-of-kind restaurant in London. Make the trip!
We were very excited to have a Sunday lunch in the restaurant as we had heard very good reviews from friends, but ended up being quite disappointed with our experience. The appetisers and starters were very nice, but then we had to wait for quite a while for our mains. They final came out over a 1hr 3/4 after we had first been seated. 3 out of the 4 main meals were not good. It looked like they had been under a hot lamp for too long. The two Monkfish dishes were very rubbery and the duck was quite dry. We would of sent the dishes back but did not have time as two of our party had to rush back due to the delay to pick their baby up from the grand parents. I really expect higher level of food and service from a restaurant which costed over £80 per head for lunch.
Exceptional service is a beautiful setting with amazing food.
Absolutely lovely evening. The food was great and the atmosphere was beautiful. Really delightful service too.
Delicious seasonal produce, well balanced menu and lovely atmosphere. I would say a little on the expensive side for the quality of dishes compared with other restaurants around this price point, the quality of the ingredients is great however. Overall an enjoyable place for a lunch though.
Lovely rustic setting but the fans were irritating - are they necessary? It was such a beautiful warm sunny day, not hot.
My duck was a splendid arrangement of flavours however the meat was very tough. I was chewing for what seemed like ages. The desert was superb though quite a large serve which was a bit unnecessary after such a big main course.
Unfortunately the noise level was really too high. I know the place is popular especially on a Saturday but it was too difficult to talk.
Might return but never on a Saturday.
