What Insiders Are Saying
Want cutting edge fine dining at affordable prices? Pidgin's ambitious, experimental set menu in Hackney will set you straight.
Couple of things overlooked for our meal. We were not asked if we wanted the truffle option on our beef course prior to being served. We were told earlier on that it was available but nobody checked before we were served if we wanted which of course we did.
Langoustine dish had to go back as was missing part of meal and was slightly cold. The people sat either side of us were encroaching on our space for the whole meal also, person to my right was sat all the way round on the side of his table leaning into me. Wasn’t an enjoyable experience. Obviously the customers behaviour is out of their control but still a little bit of management or observation wouldn’t go amiss. Overall the food for the price was not up to standard in my opinion. We had dined here previously and it was outstanding but this time not so much so.
The food was very good but the portions were tiny. Four courses for £49 and I was still hungry at the end of the evening and had to have some toast when I got home. Whilst the cooking is a very high standard when I spend about £100 on a meal I don’t expect to leave feeling hungry.
Wonderful how the vegetarian dishes worked perfectly together with the other dishes on the table, it didn’t feel like they just left out the good stuff, but balanced each dish with care.
The food was dissapointing. I expected more wow factor with the food and only one course did I get that. Otherwise it was forgettable.
Small 25 seater neighbourhood restaurant serving good food, well considered dishes that are beautifully presented. On the whole service was attentive and knowledgable though a little expensive
Simply great on all levels. The food was amazing and the wine pairing simply outstanding.
Third time eating at Pidgin. Consistently good, and there are always one or two exceptional standout dishes. Excellent value.
Overpriced for what it is. We left feeling hungry and a bit out of pocket.
Fine dining without pretentiousness. Warm and cosy settings, impeccable service and the food... just bursting with flavours textures and tastes.
The whole point of eating here is that every mouthful of food will surprise you.
Food was very innovative and some dishes were quite superlative. However, the service we experienced was only functional at best and far below levels we have experienced here before. The single toilet was out of operation and guests had to walk to the nearest pub to use their facilities. Why didn’t they call out an emergency plumber, and why weren’t guests given some sort of recompense. Seems like they were only interested in maintaining their high prices.
Everything was wonderful, amazing food and staff !
Delicious and attentive.
This was my second visit to Pidgin and I will be back again. The welcome is friendly and they always have some interesting drinks to start - I had the cocktail of the week a "Pineapple Express" which hit the right balance between the kick of alcohol and fruitiness. The set menu was innovative and contained some top class cooking. Dishes show high technical skills with great combinations of ingredients and flavours. We went for the wine pairing which included interesting lesser known wines that went well with the dishes. Service is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We had a great lunch and it gets a big recommendation from us.
Very much an experience! Good wine and cocktail list too.
This place offers extraordinary culinary experiences. The food is prepared to perfection—you will taste some of the most fascinating combinations. It’s a dinner I will remember for a long time. The ambience is wonderful and the staff very polite and accommodating. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Impeccable & seamless
Food was delicious, best pannacotta I have ever eaten!!!!
Service was great too, with explaining each course. Although felt a little rushed and that we couldn't hang around.
fantastic restaurant. was my my second visit. will definitely be back.
Standard of food seemed to have lowered since the last time we were there and felt overpriced for what it was. Service was great though, really attentive. And that butter they serve with bread is delicious!!
Delicious as always. Wine pairing was a bit "skinny" this time round!
Great food and service. Very nice place if a little too cosy
Fantastic place! Food was incredible! Really well planned out with timings of food and the amounts. Staff very helpful and attentive.
A really enjoyable meal, great attentive service and exciting ingredients that had been presented in a way very pleasing to the eye and tasted as good as they looked. Will definitely go back again.
Very nice meal, most excellent but the main course was pork shoulder, a cheap and fatty cut, that just wasn't very good - maybe cooked sous vid and finished, icky unrendered fat. Dessert great. Natural red wine with main course - spare me these cidery faddish abominations and give me a nice glass of red please. Charming service. Love the loo. Just shy of £100 a head.
This place came highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic, interesting food and good value given the quality.
Small resto with great personality! Thoughtful and creative food. Unusually well balanced courses that were all unique yet contained a distinctive thread between them. Jack has a wonderful palate and has organised a distinctive wine pairing option..a must do! He has sourced purveyors with great range just like the kitchen has done. Run dont walk to this charming out of the way spot!
Our meal at Pidgin was a great way to end our holiday in the UK. The food was thought-provoking and interesting without being inaccessible. The atmosphere is warm and chic, and the service is very sleek but friendly.
Been wanting to go for a while and was not dissapointed worth the wait loved the food the venue is strange bit ok great food and drink also very good.
Amazing food. I was surprised all times by the mix of different flavors. Definitely would come back!
I really enjoyed my visit to Pidgin - in particular the excellent food. I'll be back!
Amazing food, Amazing service 10/10. Wine pairings were great.
Delicious food. Great service. Lovely cosy restaurant. Can't wait to go back.
Beautiful, creative food. I think the desserts were slightly less strong than the other courses, but the set menu is excellent value for the overall quality. The wine pairing is very generous and they let you share if you want! Love this place.
This quiet, cosy, friendly restaurant has never disappointed. The food is a carefully crafted series of course with the emphasis on subtle, thoughtful flavour and texture combinations without ever resorting to the showy or brash. Menus change every week. I wish we could go more often.
Food was very good. Service was a shambles.
Very nice food. Exciting to get a lot of lovely little surprises. The waiting staff were efficient and helpful.
Just a problem with some of the dishes and plates. They were very beautiful and it was fun to have so many shapes and sizes. Some of them were truly strange! But a bit difficult to eat from as they were very scrapey and scratchy to eat off. They main problem was that it was freezing cold in the restaurant especially for thefeet! Otherwise just a bit pricey but delicious and inventive food
Delicious as always! One of our favourite London restaurants.
The menu changes a lot so not fair to not love a place because of the food, but my immediate thought was that that there are better tasting menus in London for this money.
Superb food, individually and freshly made. Small restaurant with a cosy ambience. A real must for food lovers.
