Third visit to the Pig & Whistle - the ambience here is excellent (and even better with the very tasteful Christmas decorations all around). Cannot fault the service. Good, varied menu. Highly recommend !

We had been recommended for Sunday lunch and we attended the pig and whistle after several attempts .Must admit was a little disappointed food .It was nicely presented but was a little on the lukewarm side.
The service was great, and very friendly.Car park was heaving and was very busy inside too, which is always a good sign ,just altogether unlucky I guess?

Nice decor - gourmet country pub with a modern twist. Very friendly owner Brendan went out of his way to engage with us throughout the evening. Excellent restaurant manager who kept an attentive lookout on the service given to our table. Something for everyone on the menu - very fresh homemade food. Would recommend and will go back!!

Just the best hospitality - staff made me and my disabled father feel very comfortable, nothing is ever too much trouble and they go above and beyond to make your visit fun. And that’s before we even talk about the food which is absolutely to die for. Fantastic combinations put together with thought and care for that added wow factor. Perfect.

Bit disappointed. Had a lovely Sunday lunch a few months back when it was a carvery and I knew they had changed it to normal table service but we thought we'd go again last Sunday to try it out. Sadly the food was no where near the same standard. Potatoes were so hard you couldn't eat them and the vegetables were very bland. Staff as usual were really friendly and helpful and there is a really nice atmosphere there but food was definitely nothing out of the ordinary. Please bring back the carvery!

The food was very good but on this occasion, Sunday lunchtime it was very busy and the staff seemed to forget what table had ordered and which ones needed serving. You are offered a drinks menu without the food menu and being a person that like certain drinks with certain food I went safe and had a gin and tonic

Unfortunately although the ambience was good and the staff pleasant having to wait over one and a half hours for any food to arrive - especially with a 2 year old - spoilt the occassion.
I realise we didn't have a starter and it was Sunday but from a 1.45 booking the food eventually arrived at 3.20. Vegetarian option was one choice - gnocchi which despite being told to mind the hot plates was only lukewarm. Certainly wasn't going to say anything as goodness knows how long that would have takeno. Sunday roasts coming out looked substantial but we all thought our main menu portions were small and consequently seemed expensive. Puddings were expensive - £9 for a 'bakewell' which was just a pastry base with a bit of jam and a non descript sponge with 3 halves of blackberry a few drips of coulis and a blob of cream again seems poor value. A pity as the restaurant ambience and staff were pleasant.

Food and ambience wonderful . . Service , although staff are very nice and friendly , we did ask for a couple of things ie water around 3 or 4 times before it was actually brought to us. We also waited quite a while for the menus to be brought over to us. We were also given wrong dessert menus. As I say, food wonderful and feel little mean mentioning these points as staff were lovely but one should be honest on feedback otherwise it’s pointless. This would not stop me coming back .

We went here for my birthday celebration with the family, the ambiance was good and really friendly staff. The food was good but perhaps could be a bit more on the plate for men, (it was fine for me). The cheese board was very good and my dessert was lovely. Maybe a bit pricey but ok for a special celebration. We really enjoyed it.

Not our first visit and it won’t be our last however I did think the service was slower than usual. My meal could have done with a vegetable side but I chose not to order based on the fillet steak comes with chips and salad but it would have been nice if the waitress suggested it. Still surroundings are great. We sat at the table close to the main door and now the nights are getting colder we get that draft every time someone entered or left the restaurant.

We visited for a birthday celebration so wanted something special and it was! The the service, including the welcome, was excellent, and we were made to feel special and that nothing was too much trouble. I loved the décor and lighting.
We thoroughly enjoyed all the food which was cooked and presented to an extremely high standard and the shared (meat) starter was amazing!
Can't imagine why we haven't been before!

My mother (91) and I were treated to a lunch out at this wonderful restaurant and I have to say I cant wait to return
The service was impeccable efficient and friendly - a really warm welcome by Claire and Ben
The Drinks menu was expansive and carried a lovely selection of drinks for us Gin Lovers!

As for the food, every mouthful was a delight!
The Maple Glazed Chicken was heaven and the Pork was cooked exactly as my mum requested (without the herb crust) and was tender and melted in the mouth
Desserts beautifully presented

It was great introduction and we will be using the Pig and Whistle and recommending it to friends and business colleagues alike

Thank you for making the lunch into such a treat!

We enjoyed our meal very much. And the restaurant was great. Couple of niggly points had to ask for bread as clearly the butter on the table was there for a reason. Waited a while before the menu was given to us. Order had to be repeated to waiter and then they forgot the side orders when food served, although this was compensated for. But we all said we would go back and recommend.

What a lucky find - best lunch we've had in a long time. Booked this for my husband's birthday. We were both impressed by the decor - casually elegant and maybe even Pinterest-worthy. I had prawns to start (outstanding flavour), he had calamari (admittedly average but still good). We both had rib-eye steak for our main and it was divine. For dessert I had a trio of mousse, baileys and expresso which was superb. I also had the best glass of white Zinfandel I've ever had. Service was really friendly & just the right amount of helpfulness. We will definitely be back.

Never eat roast out as am always left disappointed but this on the other hand was spot on. Great sized portion of pink in the middle roast beef with all the trimmings, we really enjoyed it & would highly recommend if you prefer great home cooking. Staff were lovely & friendly & service was great. Loved the Bathtub gin. We will be returning to try out the other dishes & work my way down the Gin menu too. Thank you Pig & Whistle
