Pig & Whistle Restaurant
Sunday: 12:00 - 19:00
Lovely venue, extremely friendly and attentive service and great food at a reasonable price.
Fantastic Sunday lunch with all the trimmings plus more. Great food, great value, great service. Will be back for more, lots more 😋
Another afternoon tea and as usual everything was spot on a great service provided by Ben.
The food was tasty and fresh.
We have been to the Pig and Whistle a few times now and I can honstly say i have not found better.
A good service and great food clean and comfortable, I would defenetly recomend it.
We really enjoyed our experience and hope to return again, the food was creative and delicious.
Lovely place to eat would highly recommend, lovely staff super friendly!
I had lunch here with my husband and 14 year old son. Loved the cozy feel and welcoming atmosphere. The food was yummy and the staff really friendly. Will definitely be going back.
Our second visit here and our views remain the same ...... outstanding!! A beautiful cosy restaurant with a lovely friendly ambience. Both staff, food and setting superb. See you again soon x
Delicious food served by professional friendly staff, we all had a lovely evening.
We have been dinning here on a number of occasions and would recommend, great food, great wine, great hospitality
Absolutely perfect night out with friends. Food top notch, atmosphere relaxed and service was great! A++++
First time at this lovely place. I'm sure we will be back.
Great food, great service, a little gem. 👍😊
Great location and views service very good and a varied menu this restaurant seems to improve on every visit.
We had the pig and whistle board to start, quite large for 2 people to share but everything on it was delicious. We had the duck and the John Dory for main, both of which were brilliant. The service was excellent, friendly but not too chatty. One of the best meals we have had in Chelmsford.
Brendan and his team provide a warm welcome, exceptional service and sublime food. We have been regular visitors for more than 4 years now and have never been disappointed.
My second visit .... absolutely love it ...food, wine & service were outstanding.
We took my daughter there for her 18th birthday meal. The food was superb. The staff were absolutely brilliant. Would highly recommend.
Lovely Sunday dinner enjoyed by my husband while I ate off the a la carte menu I enjoyed the lamb (although slightly too pink for me, next time I’ll ask for it slightly more well done but that’s purely personal preference)! The dauphinois potato’s were to die for as was everything else!!!! Truly scrumptious
Was very surprised to find a restaurant of this quality on my doorstep. Food was outstanding. Beautiful setting and great service. What more could you ask for. An excellent all round dining experience. Highly recommend. I can't wait to go back
Lovely ambiance, attentive staff and very good food.
Very nice restaurant i will be back. My family and i loveed the food the service was excellent and the ambiance
The restaurant was gorgeous. The service was spot on, no one rushed us nor were we neglected. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The decor was well thought out with the atmosphere feeling cosy but not so informal that it doesn’t feel special. Brendon the owner gave us a huge lollipop at the end for my four year old and the adults some rocky road cake which was a lovely extra touch.
Lovely food, friendly service, good atmosphere just a great place to eat.
Beautiful little restaurant. Hidden gem not far from the city centre. Lovely lovely lunch.
Beautiful restaurant we went for our first wedding anniversary (having had our wedding reception there the year before). Staff very friendly and helpful, atmosphere and setting stunning, food amazing, would definitely recommend x
Our visit to the pig and whistle was a treat from my son as a christmas present. Having booked a table and looked at the website, we were looking forward to our experience, and we were not disappointed. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door, the service was warm friendly and polite. The food was excellent, all in all it was a very enjoyable evening for my wife and I, a restaurant that I would not hesitate to recommend.
Loved it amazing food amazing staff amazing evening
Excellent host Branden. Food was outstanding and great set-up inside the Tardis!
Fabulous place that you really want to keep secret.
Just totally loved this restaurant. They saved our evening as we had been to another restaurant and left due to the menu and the staff.
Lovely, cosy and inviting ambience in the restaurant. Really friendly staff, great service throughout the meal and plenty of different food options on offer. I will definitely be returning.
A fantastic evening. This is a lovely restaurant in a great setting. The food and service was superb and we will definitely be returning.
A stunning evening all round; lovely friendly service, great food & a lovely setting - what more could you want
I am gluten and dairy free with other dietary requirements and struggle to find places to eat that cater for my needs. This place was amazing so welcoming friendly made me feel reassured. They changed the dishes to suit me without any issues at all. Very impressed so accommodating. I am definitely going back! The setting was stunning too.
Cannot fault it. Lovely food well presented, friendly efficient staff. Nice venue...what more do you want for dinner out with friends! We all loved it and will come back.
Had a lovely lunch, great dining area food was wonderful, presentation excellent and fabulous friendly service.
I have been here a couple of times for the Sunday carvery and was so impressed that booked a table for one evening which was superb lovely varied menu . I had duck and my husband had a chicken dish which as well as being so tasty you will find that there servings are generous. The staff are very welcoming and most helpful will definatly be regular visitors to this gem of a pub
The Pig & Whistle had had its ups and downs over the last decades. Now it is on the up but is no longer a local pub. The menu is interesting and the food, much of it local, is cooked with flair and accuracy. My rare steak came rare not medium rare as happens in many restaurants but was slightly spoiled by not being served on a hot enough plate. My pudding of pannacotta was excellent with just the correct amount of "wobble".
Service was very helpful and friendly but was let down by poor timing of the courses so the pace of the meal was wrong. This obviously varies quite widely with different groups of diners and time of day but a good waiting team should be able to judge this correctly.
The ambiance is generally good for what was a cosy country pub but I would prefer not to have background music. The space in the dining room and size of tables is perfectly adequate for general pub eating but both need to be increased if the place really wants to become a top end dining venue.
Traditional home cooked food with beautiful flavours. Lovely country restaurant
Was recommended to eat here for Sunday lunch for quite a while, so when a special occasion occurred we thought we'd book and go!
The pub was absolutely rammed and the noise level so loud we couldn't hear what the greeter was saying to us! She was very nice if a bit hands on touchy-feely but that was fine, it's good to be friendly!
They left us 10 mins then brought drinks menu, another 10 to take drinks order, I asked for their special premium lemonade and was brought Seven Up!
Waited another 15 mins to take our food order, then another 15 for starter to arrive!
Trying to have a conversation with my partner was becoming a real challenge to get myself heard over the noise of chatter and everything else, would of been handy to of been the Town Crier!
I had ordered roast lamb, my partner beef, eventually this arrived by this time we had been there for 1 & half hrs!
Food looked very nice however it tasted far from nice, the lamb was just 2 pieces of chewy fat which I had to spit out as just inedible and the veg although supposed to be firm, I don't think had even made it into the cooking pot, carrots broccoli and cauliflower all as hard as nails!
My partner who likes his beef rare, seemed also like it had just been shown to the oven, chewy as hell!
This is the first time in 40 years of eating out we had to complain, I felt awful doing this but just too many things wrong!
The manager Amanda said she would contact me and took my details so we could come back for a free meal!
IM STILL WAITING!
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Chelmsford. Wonderful decor, lovely ambience and top level service from the staff who are genuinely friendly and happy to accommodate any requirements,
The food here is fantastic, particularly the Sunday roasts. Would highly recommend.
Food was so good and had loads of variety, couldn’t fault it at all would defo recommend. Staff was friendly & welcoming
