Nothing less than exemplary. Despite the fact the restaurant was next to empty (they were showing the football downstairs) the chefs, the team and the waiting on staff were all on top form. Brilliant menu advice, drinks pairing tips and service from our waiter, not to mention the discount we were given on food despite not realising we had to quote a certain code. This is a fine example of how to do food and drink equally well and the Pint Shop has some of the best of both at that price point in Birmingham.
A pub for the ale connoisseur - there are almost 30 on offer - but which also has some good wines for those who don't do real ale. The menu at first glance looks like "beer food" but it arrives beautifully prepared and presented. Our mixed selection of meaty bites, burger, kofte flatbread and skin-on chips were all excellent. And whatever you do, don't miss the onion bhaji scotch egg!
Really great Sunday Lunch had in the dining room. My pork was superbly cooked, and very tasty. Service was also great.
Overall, Pint Shop is a great place for a quick pint, and a great place for a full meal with friends.
Chicken to me was a bit pink although if it was thigh I suppose ok but I personally don't like pink chicken.
Burger was very good and thoroughly enjoyed as did my partner.
Service was a bit slow considering to begin with we were the only diners in the restaurant.
I will go back but just want as good as our first visit I'm afraid.
Excellent Pint, food nice, Sunday Roast Veg choice a bit limited. But a dish I had was easily changed to suit my dietry needs without question.
2 course meal was excellent, great choice of ales / drinks on offer, the member of staff who looked after was superb. We are looking forward to a return visit already.
We had a family meal here for Mother's Day and booked only a couple of days before - and all moms were given a free G&T! The staff were really friendly and accommodating as we had my 6 month old niece with us. We all struggled to pick what to eat as everything sounded amazing, thankfully none of us regretted our choices. Super delicious food!
Thought I’d try here, not disappointed. Service was excellent, good range of drinks, (beers and spirits)
We thought the Starters were excellent, and the mains above average, all reasonably priced. Ambiance was good.
Downsides, range of wine minimal, and the toilets were on the top floor.
All in all a decent place to eat and drink and we’d happily go back.
Tasty and good, locally sourced ingredients. I would recommend a visit! Good wine and beer list too!
Friendly staff nice dining area
Great food and nice dining area. Would definitely go again
There was a great choice of beer, and the food especially the steak was delicious
Absolutely fantastic food and beer... recommend to anyone trying something new.
Great selection of beers and gin. Delicious good value for money food. A Great find.
Didn’t realise this had been open so long due to the scaffolding- but was glad to finally try it! Starters were great- served quickly and piping hot. Mains were also lovely - couldn’t fault them! As the 2 courses had been so nice, we decided to treat ourselves to desert. We were expecting great things because of the previous two courses, but when the deserts arrived we were a little underwhelmed. I had the chocolate knickerbocker glory, which supposedly was an ice cream sundae, however was a scoop of ice cream, a scoop of moose and a lot of cream in between - so £6 for a lot of cream was interesting. My partner had the citrus meringue fool, which had a similar problem - a small amount of sorbet, a lot of cream, and some tiny brought meringues! Think this place is lovely, and we will be back - but the deserts really let it down, and definitely aren’t worth the money themselves!
Great food and great drinks!
What's not to like?
Post Athletics event meal was just the ticket. Superb pork belly and chicken and chips meals were enjoyed by all as well as the big selection of beers and gins.
Also we were very impressed at the way we were treated when our table was flooded with GnT when the glass broke. Top customer service guys 😀
Brilliant food and great service!! I will definitely visit again
Great choice of beers and very tasty food. Ambiance was more pub than restaurant but that was fine. Would visit again just for the beer!!!!
Brilliant, we had a table booked for lunch. Requested a view of the TV to watch the rugby. Nothing was too much trouble. Table was in a perfect location and the food was amazing
Cheese starter and chicken were amazing. Great atmosphere. Huge choice of beer and gins (wine not so much). Non-alcoholic options tasty too!
Great service and good food thanks for the good night
Food to suit everyone. Service very good. Mixed age of clientele which gave the bar a nice friendly atmosphere.
Great spot, it has unique beers on tap. Great to see a variety of local and some from abroad! Food is always good.
I had a very enjoyable experience. Beer selection had a bit of everything, food was tasty and nicely presented, ambiance was live (great music), and the staff was welcoming and attentive. It was a great time.
Great Sunday lunch. My roast beef was very tender and the gravy was delicious. Huge selection of beers including the very drinkable low-alcohol Big Drop pale ale. Definitely would return.
Very good, excellent service, lovely food and a huge choice of beers and ales
Went on Saturday evenin* and as this was my first time not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Great staff and the beer range 25 plus on keg was amazing. Food was really good and it has a really cosy feel to the place . Won’t be my last visit I’m sure ,
Great food, beers and service. Not a big menu to select from but the quality makes up for it. And the beers are excellent with a great selection, all well kept and presented.
The Sunday roast was excellent and the service was great. The staff were excellent in accommodating my family incl. two prams. We will definitely be back for another Sunday roast.
Food was nice, good service and a great selection of beers.
We booked a table for a pre-theatre meal for 4 people, we arrived early and were warmly greeted on entering Restaurant, and shown to our table. Staff were all very pleasant and efficient, the service was excellent and the food likewise. Both ordering and serving of drinks and food were at a comfortable pace, not feeling rushed and never having to wait long. Staff regularly checked if everything was ok without being intrusive. This was our first visit and all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and would definitely go back.
Great find, recently opened, good food but slightly spoilt by unimaginative desert offer, we were a group of four and no one could find a desert they liked, needs more work in this area.
Good food, good beer, & good service. Will definitely go back
Visited the pint shop for dinner on Wednesday. The bar staff need to work on customer service. I had a booked a table for 6 persons and wanted them to let the restaurant know that i was here, but wanted to wait downstairs at the bar with a drink for the other people. Apparently this is too difficult for them to figure out.
Food was nice but slow to come out - we had 2 meals sent and then taken back as the rest were not ready.
Good selection of gins and beers - just need to work on customer service
Lovely establishment, i had sunday lunch, they couldnt give me mint or cranberry sauce which is imperative for my sunday lunch however they offered alternative condiments but they werent to my taste.
The food was tasty and hot and would order again, quick and efficient service and lovely waitress who couldnt do enough.
Nice looking room to eat in. Food was delicious. Pork belly was too small, needed mash or something to bulk it out.
I can recommend Paneer flat bread .
Loved chips (still had skin on potatoes so not greasy.)
Children's potion were generous and reasonably priced.
House wine was ok, gin cocktails fab.
Staff were polite and attentive. Our waitress was a funny onion! I thought she was hilarious, my friends thought she was slightly rude and dismissive!
Every course showcased cooking we had not experienced before
Home made crackers with the shared charcuterie board
The pork belly with cauliflower was excellent
The chocolate and milk ice cream so tasty
The food was good but expensive for what it is. We shared some bread- 4 small pieces with butter and crushed olives was £4 and it was ok but nothing special considering it’s bought in so requires no preparation by the restaurant. The food did have good flavour but a small bowl of fennel slaw was £4, flatbread £12 for what was a good kebab essentially. Overall lunch for two cost £43 - that’s bread to share, a main each , one side and one pint. Not good value when you consider other city centre lunch offerings.
Thank you for making the time to leave us a review and some feedback, and I am sorry to hear that, on this occasion we have let you down. We would love to hear more about your visit, please do get in touch: email@example.com
Awesome Sunday roast and wonderful attentive staff - highly recommended
Nice place, had been looking forward to going for a while. The beer and food is good, but a bit pricey. I counted three English beers listed that were under 4%, one being only 3.2%, and all were over £5.20 a pint :-(
