The food was cold, restaurant was obnoxiously loud and the prices were high. Better Italian and pizza joints all over Brooklyn as both quality and value. Yelp rating is very misleading
Excellent Food. We came here before a concert at Barclays. It was freezing that day so I think they were a bit overwhelmed with all the people rushing in to get out of the cold. We had a reservation and were seated on time. The pizza came out before our appetizers which I thought was odd but was told by the server "it's always this way". All the food was very good. We had to continue to flag down a server when we needed things but it was never hard to find him. It was an OK experience. I would maybe go back if I'm craving pizza before another Barclays show.
Delicious pizza. Gnocchi in tomato sauce very satisfying. Yummy tiramisu. Very helpful waiter who made a good wine suggestion.
Absolutely mobbed inside. 4 different groups had reservations at the same time waiting at the door. Waiters did everything they could, however could of used more help for the amount of people they were serving. Seated basically at the door where 10-12 people hovering over waiting to be seated. Couldn’t take coats off because it was too cold from door opening. Never got water. The real issue was watching the owners provide absolutely zero help to the staff. They just simply watched the chaos ensue and didn’t provide assistance.
Shoutout to the one waiter/hostess/bartender for running the show. The owners need to lend a hand instead of just smile and watch.
I have been before and loved the food, so I made a 6:45 reservation for 3 people on a Saturday with a note that we had an 8:00 show at Barclays. By 6:12 I knew we were running a bit late so I modified it to 7pm. No one was at the host stand, the place was packed, and I was standing nearly outside. No one came to check until 7:01, and by then there were people behind me waiting for their 7pm reservation as well, a table of 6. I wasn’t asked my name, and the owner just said, “People are finishing up.” By 7:17 all of the people outside and myself still hadn’t been seated. A family of 4 without a reservation was told, “5-10 minutes” before I got there, but eventually gave up. I did as well, as I knew I wouldn’t make my show in time with such slow service. When small places are busy, you should decline walk-ins or say, “We need the table back by 6:50.” I’m glad business is booming, but they need to figure out the reservation system.
Always a great true Neapolitan pizza
Great Pizza, perfect Neapolitan style.
I celebrated my sons birthday with 5 10-year-olds and their parents and Pizza Secret was very accommodating to our large party and made us feel special on his birthday. The food was excellent and a good value for money. I would definitely go again.
This place is weird. The food is delicious. The service sucks. Mixed together and you get a solid 2.5 stars.
Extremely uninspiring food and less-than-ideal service marked the experience at Pizza Secret.
Everything about the restaurant exuded an “amateur hour” feel. The restaurant was not particularly full but yet receiving menus and food items took a very long time. Two members of our party got their pasta dishes long before the salad appetizer arrived. The kale salad was supposed to have cranberries in it but did not come with any (the waiter only offered that they ran out of the cranberries when asked directly). It also did not have any dressing and was extremely dry, only with barely perceptible lemon juice. The salad was painful.
Two pizzas were in our order: a Bufala and a Margherita, each with toppings. Both arrived with extremely thin middle sections that were completely soggy and limp. Mozzarella cheese and other toppings easily rolled right off the pies, and it made the most sense to eat the pizza with a knife and fork.
The best part of the meal for me was getting the check so we could leave. I live in the neighborhood and had never heard of Pizza Secret before. This was our first and only visit, and I wish it had remained a secret.
I really stand behind my 5-stars for here. The pizza is beyond excellent and the staff are always accommodating and professional. Large tables are great for groups, they are incredibly family friendly yet have great wines and drinks. What’s not to like? Outside the name... really needs a better name.
Pizza Secret is excellent!! It is a beautiful chic breezy place with authentic food and staff. Our food came so fast and it was delicious! I loved every minute of being there. Will definitely return!
The service was terrible. The food was just not good. We left before they even brought one of the entrees
Pizza Secret could be one of the best restaurants in the 5 boroughs. First of all, the pizza is exceptional. If you’re a fan of authentic, brick oven Neapolitan pizza, this is the place for you. The ingredients are fresh. The pizza is made promptly. The taste is outstanding. The quality of service at Pizza Secret only enhances the dining experience. I’ve dined on multiple occasions and have been impressed with the kindness and thoroughness of the waitstaff. I always feel like I’m visiting an old friend. And Rosario, the owner, is one of the most genuine people I’ve met in my life. He is a good person who takes pride in creating a high quality environment for his patrons. If you haven’t been already, please visit Pizza Secret. It’s well worth the trip.
It was probably not a fair day to judge Pizza Secret, huge concert at Barclays - the place had a hard time handling it.
That said, the pizza was delicious (though it came cold)
The dough was excellent, and the sauce was perfect.
They are 3 blocks from Barclays and will definitely give them another try.
Unfortunately, it was a disappointing dining experience. My expectations were high for a chef from Naples and sadly he missed the mark. Even the pizza was underwhelming. In addition, the staff were not prepared for service. I'm not sure when the restaurant opened, but it felt like day 1.
Food delicious. Service was lacking. Waited longer to get credit card back than I waited for dinner. Waist of time.
This restaurant was highly recommended by an employee of Barilla pasta and did not disappoint. A very cozy and satisfactory neighborhood Italian restaurant with many options and tasty dishes. Friendly staff to boot
Great Neapolitan pizza in the area. The fried calzone is not to be missed. Service is great. Definitely worth a visit!
Wonderful, friendly owner and staff. Super food - the pizza crust was delicious! Thx!
I think the best pizza in NYC ... I'm Italian and I live in NYC for three years ... not much to say ... here you eat the same pizza you make in Naples ... the wood oven from a flavor and a particular scent reminiscent of the Neapolitan pizzerias ... the owner is young and full of dreams ... he deserves every good from this country and from all of us ... three appetizers, a pizza, two glasses of wine, a bottle of sparkling water: 80 dollars ... Italian prices, Italian passion and above all a real NAPOLETANA pizza
If you’re looking for real napolitano food , this is the place to go . Great quality food , pizza caccio Pepe was excellent!!
Pizza Secret is an absolutely charming restaurant. I love the atmosphere! The staff were kind and attentive, and the food is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it.
Delicious and 100% authentic Neapolitan Pizza. Very friendly staff, attentive and good service. Meals came out at the same time for the 5 of us and we enjoyed every bit of it. Highly recommended.
Great authentic pizza & lovely staff! We love this place. Always welcoming & delicious.
Pizza is outstanding as are the appetizers ( melanzane all’s parmigiana is superb and a great meatless option).
Best pizza ever tried in NYC! Definitely worth it! I have been there twice in a week with my boyfriend because we truly loved pizzas and calzoni! I’m Italian and I can tell their pizzas are way better than the average ones you can find in Italy! Bravissimi!
My girlfriend and I were here for a pizza class last week with some friends and had a little taste of what it takes to make this pizza and I must say, it's a skill, for sure! That skill is displayed in how flavorful the food is here. As a Brooklyn native, this is definitely a new spot for some really great brick fired pizza. Did I mention the Chef is an awesome guy? Hats off to this place! Salute!
This is a Pizziaolo in the traditional Neapolitan sense. He knows what he’s doing with ingredients, with tomato sauce, and especially with the crust. The music is cranked up a bit louder than I would like it but other than that it’s a great dining experience and the pizza is terrific.
Best pizza ever!
We were seated and told that they didn't have a liquor license yet so we could buy a bottle of wine across the street and bring it in, no corking fee. Great, we went ahead and did that, and ordered a bruschetta to share.
No one spoke to us again for 50 minutes. Despite repeated attempts to get the waiters' attention, they would not acknowledge our existence. They were clearly overwhelmed with only 2 waiters working during a Saturday evening rush. They never even gave us wine glasses, so we just poured wine into the water glasses we had.
Finally after 50 minutes one of the waiters came over to take our order. We told him that we had ordered a bruschetta a while ago and never received it. He said he would go check on it, without taking our entree orders, and disappeared again. We next saw him cleaning empty tables.
We finally decided to walk out and try eating somewhere else. Luckily we hadn't actually received any food, so we could just leave. The people at tables around us who had eaten were practically begging for their checks.
What a waste of time.
L'entrée de patate était bonne mais froide.
Aucune indication qu'ils ne servent pas d'alcool dans le resto.
Le service était très cordiale mais manque de technique..
La pizza est excellente!! Sauce tomate, fabuleuse!!
J'y retournerais certainement
