Our server Ricardo took wonderful care of us. Our food and drinks were fabulous. We will be back
Great birthday celebration.
We visited Plank for our Valentine’s dinner. The prices were a tad bit inflated considering it’s not on the beach. I ordered the salmon and it wasn’t a large piece. My wife enjoyed the lobster. It looks like they have an extensive cocktail listing. I wouldn’t choose this place for a special occasion again. I would however visit it for a casual dinner night.
Amazing! We went for Valentines Day assuming an overpriced menu that wouldn’t have good food. Not we’re we wrong. Four of us had an unbelievable 5 course tasting menu.
First course was flatbreads and dips
Second course was Gravlax with capers and onions. Both were very good
The third course was fantastic grilled shrimp and scallops wrapped in bacon.
The next course was even better, filet mignon and a lobster tail both cooked to perfection. They even brought out Mac and cheese and sautéed vegetables.
Dessert was included and even though we all were full we somehow managed to finish a dessert tray- 5 scoops of ice cream and four cakes
The price is $850 pesos per person
We can’t wait to go back
To everyone visiting Playa, go a block off of Fifth Avenue and have one of the most delightful dining experiences to be found at Plank. We have already been there twice for dinner in the past week, once for their “tasting menu” and once for a la carte dining. The meat eaters in our group raved about the surf and turf as well as the brisket, while the vegetarians loved the mushroom risotto, grilled vegetables, and flatbread with goat cheese and fig. And then there is the service... not only is the staff knowledgeable, professional, and attentive, but always warmly welcomes us as if we were family. A big thank you to Luis, Miguel, Edson, Ismail,Diego, David, Marvel, and Augustin.
As a local of Playa del Carmen we love and always recommend Plank. High quality and perfectly cooked food, atmosphere great, and good service. Miguel our server has been there since the beginning and always a pleasure

Always one of our favorite restaurants in Playa.
Plank was recommended to us by friends who travel to Playa del Carmen frequently. It did not disappoint . I Wishsh I could remember our server’s name, he was terrific. Everything we ate was delicious and plated beautifully. The highlight for me had to be the grilled lobster, outstanding and a large portion . Loved the indoor outdoor space ! My only issue was lack of light to read the menu . Will definitely be returning next year .
Well worth a visit if your in playa del Carmen
Great food and service
Great octopus and lovely sea bass special
And a very nice Mexican white wine .
This is a family favorite- we love the food, service, unique drinks and that breeze coming off the beach!
Fish is always fresh
I had the barbecue ribs - tastes amazing
The staff always makes you feel at home and well cared for
Our best experience so far in Playa. Very accommodating service. Quality food. Wasn’t overly salty. The server met our every need and the brisket was a 10!!! The sides of vegetables were very generous
Did not have our reservation but sorted it out smoothly, service was present on and off, took my credit out of my sight at payment which is not appreciated nor correct.
We went there based on good reviews. The prices were high and the food was so so.
Always amazing food and service. Very comfortable and exceptional value.
The food and hospitality were exceptional. Very well done cocktails. Loved the outdoor seating so we could enjoy the activity on the street.
They helped us plan a proposal and had a great idea of using their famous smoked cocktail as the reveal. It was an awesome experience and they were very attentive to us. Also they gave us a complimentary dessert platter on the house to celebrate the engagement.
What happened Pkank!!!!!! First of all as soon as we got down of the cab there was this overwhelming smell of sewer! I thought to myself hopefully it’s not that bad when we get to the restaurant, OMG Was I wrong. I could not enjoy our time at Plank just because of the very bad smell. How could the staff at Plank not notice that???
Fantastic from start to finish. Wonderful service too.
The appetizers were amazing- Drinks were good! Entrées were good but not great. . Will try again on my next trip.
Really great seafood and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu!
The food was good, the menu is very misleading.
We had a nice brunch, until it came time to pay. Our party thought it was 160 pesos for the brunch, it was 250. Very disappointed in the manager, Gil who fought us tooth and nail, disagreed it was confusing although we are not the first to tell him so.
The food was good, it was with 250 pesos but the Manager’s reaction was poor and a simple acknowledgement would have satisfied us.
It is my custom to point to my meal on the menu in Mexico to avoid confusion. My husband pointed to the food order and price, there was no confirmation or clarification from our server.
My husband and I have been several times during our many trips to PDC and enjoyed Plank very much. We took our friends there this time. It was a disappointment. The steak temperatures were not cooked as requested. Our entrees took an exceptionally long time. Our server was absent during the long wait. Overall we were let down. I don’t think we will return for quite some time.
Food was good, we may have ordered the wrong dishes. Expected something different.
Great outdoor seating, we celebrated a bachelorette party and everyone was very accommodating.
All the food was awesome. We ordered two beef wellingtons, which were over cooked, so they brought us two more that were perfect... medium rare. Great service.
Beautiful place! Will definitely go back!
Too many options on 5th for good food and service.
Unfortunately for us it’s X X X.
This is a special place in Playa. It was fairly unique when we first discovered it 4 years ago. We go back several times each year and enjoy the experience, however there are new places opening each year which up the anti for the old established places. Owner chef Diego will be aware of this I’m sure. The bar drinks are slipping in my opinion!
Food was very good as always. No “fish of the day” to choose from. The raw oysters were outstanding. We both had the salmon on the planks, which was very good. Grilled asparagus rounded out our meal. Took a few “asks” to finally get our check as we then missed the early shuttle to get back to our resort.
Plank was quickly become one of our favorite Playa restaurants. Located only one block off of 5th Avenue, Plank affords you the charm of eating in downtown Playa without the noise and maddening crowds. The service is impeccable from the lovely hostess, Monica, to our wonderful servers Gil, Andres, Luis, Ismael, and Roger, to name a few, who treat us like family. The menu is varied without being overwhelming and the food consistently delicious. The fig and arugula flatbread remains a favorite for our vegetarians, while our meat eaters enjoy the brisket. Already looking forward to our next meal there...
Plank is an excellent place for everything from a romantic date to a family gathering. The food is creatively prepared and presented. Every appetizer and meal we consumed was excellent. Highly recommended!
Very interesting menu, some great sounding dishes. We shared a very fresh Wedge salad to start and had a well priced bottle of Rioja red. The disappointments was our main course: the tuna and mixed grill were like warm at best although we’d been waiting some time (the server did apologize); the mixed grill was very tasty and well seasoned, the tuna rather bland. The high point was the grilled lobster which constituted of three smaller tails - great value, a lot of lobster! Plain, delicious and cooked perfectly. A shame our meal was mixed, to judge by the menu, this is a great restaurant, I think we hit an off night - it was a Sunday
First time in Playa del Carmen with friends and this was the best restaurant by far. Had dinner there one evening and went back for Sunday brunch.
It was very good. Great Beef Wellington and the sides are wonderful.
Side serving were huge
Tasting menu very interesting and great value
Great meal and great service absolutely amazing.
Was disappointed by the experience. I had researched all the restaurants in Playa to pick one for Christmas dinner. I decided Plank was most likely to fulfill our desires for a special meal. However, they were out of raw oysters which we had planned as an appetizer in advance. Mind you, this was a 6:15 reservation, early. Okay, we didn't make a big deal about it. Things happen. Then when I ordered the veal for my entree I was told they were out of it. Sigh. I ordered the Beef Wellington and my husband selected an appropriate wine to accompany our meal. Out of stock! The server recommended an alternative which was wonderful. And the Beef Wellington we both had was one of the best I've ever had. However, I kind of felt like maybe Christmas wasn't an important audience for Plank. Maybe they were saving their fireworks for the New Year's crowd. No, it wasn't a bad experience, but it was disappointing. I won't be looking to go back when I return to Playa.
