Unique brew pub & free house serving great food & live music
Set in the medieval walls of Southampton the Platform Tavern is a unique and tasteful sanctuary
serving up our own beer brewed on-site, and food that is a cut above your regular pub fare.
Lovely meal at Platform Tavern. Been here twice now, very quick and efficient.
We went when there was live music. It was a Blues Jam. The music was great as was the friendly atmosphere. Good good for the sort of venue
Great pub, good food & music. We booked a table for food which was very close to the live music. The staff moved us to another table where we could still see the music. We had good food, a fun time in great ambience.
Outstanding plaice dish, all meals very good. Cheerful, helpful people. Great overall vibe.
Sunday lunch with family of nine to celebrate a birthday. The bar staff were warm and friendly. There was live music and atmosphere great. Food all served together and was lovely. Pub decor is very tired but that’s more than offset by every else being excellent. Recommend and will definitely go again.
They treated us like royalty. Even had a sign on my table. God was superb
As always the Platform Tavern delivered friendly service and some tasty specials
We booked a table online and upon arrival were completely ignored by both members of staff. After a while we went to the bar to get out drinks. Eventually we were acknowledged and a menu appeared. Not a great welcome. Food was variable, and the service eventually became attentive. Nice ambience and live band.
Very disappointing. My wife and I have been here a few times and eaten here on one occasion before. On this occasion, the room was cold, a number of items were unavailable and the elderly newzealanders who accompanied us were upset by the loud drunken swearing from the next table. The fish & chips one of us had was a greasy disaster and the ‘roast’ was tepid. A shame, we used to like the place.
What a great place. I found it on opentable and was pleasantly surprised. The staff, beer and food were all excellent; and topped off with great live music.
Just had a very enjoyable evening, listening to great live music and dining. The food was tasty and plentiful served by a friendly, helpful waiter. Planning on going again and making it a regular occurrence.
The food was good although service was slow. Would definitely return for the friendly atmosphere and good food
Food was good not great, went there blind based on tripadvisor, very good value not sure its my normal sort of place, can’t complain
Always a great pub for a meal . We had to ring as we were late but there was no problem holding the table we had booked. My pulled pork pie was delicious though not my first choice as I didn't think I would enjoy it. Everybody else was tucking into there food and beer. Should have stayed and not gone to football.
Ate at this great pub when visiting Southampton. Nearby ancient roman sites great also
We both had a lovely Sunday roast, the food was fabulous and great portions!
Wonderful food, good sized portions, helpful staff. Sadly, the place was heaving because a football match was being televised (unbeknown to us on booking), so it was difficult to get to the bar to order. But our table was in a separate room, so it didn't cause too much disruption.
Good choice for vegetarians, vegans and dairy free - we had one of each in our party! :)
Such a friendly pub! The staff are so helpful and pleasant too!
Friendly pub, decent food - meat pie of the day is excellent as was home made chilli. Good range of beers and a live band. All made for a pleasant night.
Very much enjoyed our Sunday lunch.A good selection of meat, all cooked perfectly. The staff are excellent and friendly. Great selection of ales. We will definitely be returning.
