A classic British pub at the heart of the village community
The Plough retains all of its charm & warmth of welcome for both regulars and visitors alike. Located on the main street in the village of Ellington, this impressive old coaching inn offers something for everyone.
Our menus serve the best of local and traditional pub food. Featuring reworked classic English dishes with creative and tasty touches, you owe it to yourself to try one of our delicious meals.
We also pride ourselves on having a great drinks range! There’s a selection of local and regional ales, ciders and a number of our favourite wines. You won’t be disappointed!
Wanting to bring your canine friend? No problem, our bar area is also dog friendly!
We have been here several times as it is our local pub and we would like to see it stay around for a long time. It lacks atmosphere in the dining area and the menu is very ordinary. It would be nice to see some home made offerings and daily specials. A drinks menu would be useful so that the waitress doesn't have to disappear to find out if what you have asked for is something they stock. A bit of imagination is required and it could be a cracking place.
Great local . Good value . Great food . Service from young man at the table was great .
The staff are very pleasant and helpful
The food is very reasonable priced
Lovely food and dog friendly even got a couple of gravy bones for dog. Bar was a bit cool but not an issue. Staff very friendly will be back.
All round good experience, staff were friendly and attentive
Excellent service Excellent food would highly recommend
Staff were lovely and welcoming both on arrival and throughout.
The food was lovely and our waiter was fab! - even my 5 year old asked if we could come back and try the dinners on a Sunday!
Good value for money also, thankyou for a lovely evening!
I wanted my first meal out since the first lockdown to be at my local. The Plough didn’t disappoint. A juicy burger, crisp dry fries and a glass of good wine. Thank you. It’s good to be back
Sunday dinner, not very nice at all. Burned Yorkshire, vegetables looked like they had gone straight from the ground to the plate. Still ate it though, was hungry.
We only had a jacket potato but it was very nice. The dessert are really good
Lovely friendly staff nice clean surroundings, food beautiful.
A bit disappointed to be honest.
Waited for ages for our meals was just about to ask where they were as diners who had arrived after us were being served their food. Was told ours was just being plated up. Steak was rare and fatty, asked for Medium Rare, the chips were cold had to send it back.
Such a shame love this pub, hope this was a one off
Very welcoming even with our well behaved dog. We sat in the bar which got slightly noisy for Bobbie, she has severe noise phobias!! Local people very friendly. All COVID precautions in place and adhered to. Definitely recommend
Had a lovely evening at the Plough. Food was excellent, staff friendly and o stall good value.
Wonderful pub. Really nice people, great food & reasonably priced. We had a great time here and will definitely be going back.
The service was good the food was excellent because of the current situation with covid hopefully things will improve in time.
We've recently moved into the village and this was the first visit to our new local pub. It serves good pub grub and as we went on a Tuesday evening it was fairly quiet. We will be back again, especially as we can take our two pooches into the bar area!
Lovely food and nice chilled atmosphere, would definitely recommend!
A pleasant enough dining experience. Typical pub food but great service.
I would visit again if in the area.
The meat was tough the veg under cooked the pigs in a blanket were raw and uneatable.
The gravy was good as were the roast were good. Nice big dish of crumble with a very small jug you would serve milk with a cup of tea. Never seen such a poor presentation.
Would not recommend or re attend
Management need a course in customer service. Food was inedible. Drinks overpriced. Wait staff were only saving grace! Will not be returning
Just no atmosphere really with it being only 2 tables as well but of music 🎶 maybe!
Fab service and lovely food in a nice clean and safe environment
Had a lovely time at the plough, went for Sunday dinner and it was really good value for money. All their health and safety/covid measures were in place which was really good to see!
Will return for sure!
Sunday lunch was excellent. All the necessary COVID avoidance facilities were in place and well marked.
Great service and staff excellent. Food value for money. Will definitely go back.
Very nice , Covid 19 regulation all in place so felt very safe , food was lovely , service excellent
Lovely food, great value and they enforce covid-19 regulations. Best place to eat in the area.
Couldn’t fault the service in this place, the staff were very friendly, helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was ok, could have been better but it was edible and what I had I enjoyed.
Lovely food, atmosphere and totally demonstrated Covid-19 safety measures throughout the building.
The food was very nice, we had the Southern fried chicken burger and the baked lasagne. They were both hot and tasted very nice. There was only one girl taking and bringing orders but the service was class and there was no extra delay because of this. I will be going again!
We all enjoyed our food. Just a shame that Blue Light Cards were not accepted. This was the only place we'd been to on our week of travels in the Northumberland that did not accept them.
We visited here twice, both times we were very happy with the cleanliness and felt safe with the COVID measures they had put in place. Food was good and staff very friendly and welcoming.
Will definitely re visit if back in the area and would recommend to any visitor.
A good pub, does the basics well and food is good value for money.
They ran out of chicken so very limited choice after that....
Well signed to cover for COVID-19, Attentive, Friendly and Helpful staff.
The Food was plentiful and well cooked
Pudding was also excellent
we were not rushed or chased and had a great experience
We have been before lock down but this is the first time since and look forward to going back again
Had a lovely meal with family including 2 young children. Well organised great service, good food. Would definitely go again
The Plough has taken all the necessary steps to mitigate the risk of Covid, making this a reassuring place for us to eat - sanitiser on entry, directed to our table (well spaced from others and/or glass screening between), single-use menus, one way system etc.
The food and service was good, and overall good value (with or without the "Eat out to help out" discount)
We were in the area on holiday, and ate there twice ( a recommendation in itself)
Lovely pub, the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was great.
