I am visiting from New York , I was at poca madre a year ago and I really love the place and food.
It is delicious and well presented service is wonderful.
Everything was great. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left. The cocktails were great and the food was incredible. The combination of flavors really sealed the deal for us. Would definitely return!
While we really enjoyed the drinks/'service and most of the food, for our final bill ($270) for two I may recommend trying somewhere else.
Worth it for Ceviche and Drinks.
Currently one of the best Mexican restaurants in DC. Interesting foodie gourmand menu with great seafood ceviche choices and also many vegetarian options. Great location 1 block from City Center and the new Apple store. Have been 4 times and keeps getting better. Very stylish restaurant and as close as you will get to having dinner in a fine Mexico City restaurant without buying an airplane ticket!
What an amazing culinary experience. The blend of flavors and cuisines was unique and very tasty.
Great food and great service. Very pleasant staff that accommodated us well for a birthday celebration. The restaurant is fairly noisy, but not overbearing moly loud.
Its Mexican food but not as I know it. Great selection of sharing plates and a mix of meat fish and veges. My highlight was the scallop ceviche. The wine selection is good if pricey.
I’m visiting DC and a friend suggested, love it!
The Omakase was awesome! 10/10 would eat again.
Over salted and overpriced. Will not return
The staff is amazing, food in general was also delicious. Just one thing. Ceviche = a dish of marinated seafood. When we saw mango ceviche we did expect some type of seafood on it. ... can’t be only mango. If only mango the name should be different.
The food at Poca Madre was outstanding. The service was quite good. The only negative was a fire alarm in the building that drove out to the patio for a time. Also, the decor was somewhat nondescript.
Delicious and very creative food. I would eat at Poca Madre every night if I could!
Great food, really inventive, beautifully presented, and above all - delicious.
Great food and great dinner experience. Glad to have found this restaurant and plan to return.
Great food, drinks, and atmosphere! Just be aware there are small portions so things can add up but great date or dinner spot
It was a very pleasant surprise. Excellent food, great service, very creative menu.
Will certainly go back!
Fantastic food and service. Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent food and service. Really love this place!
Great food and service, good ambiance. We’ll definetely return to try more things. Thanks
The service was top notch. Our server knew his stuff with our Mezcal Flight, chosen specifically by the bar manager. The food was fresh, unique and adventurous. The scuttlefish and shrimp ceviche was in the top 20 dishes I've ever had. (If you go, ask your server to put a little mezcal in the coconut milk after you've finished most of the dish....life changing.) It was definitely pricey, but worth every penny.
Exceptional food, cocktails, service. Lots of DC restaurants get a huge amount of hype and don’t live up to it. This place deserves all accolades. Every course was delicious. The Sablefish was one of the best seafood dishes I’ve ever had. The duck was equally excellent. Will definitely go back!
Cocktails, service and food were all amazing!! It’s pretty pricey though so definitely a “special night out” for us. The Campeon cocktail is my new favorite drink in dc!
Food was really good, especially the octopus! Very friendly staff!
Food was great it was worth the money, a different view in mexican food and it was great. The only bad thing is that is loud.
Well worth the visit. Creative, delicious, authentic and attentive service. Will definitely return.
Excellent food, superb service. Highly recommend the pulpo and the charred cabbage taco plate.
Food was terrible
EVERYTHING was amazing. Enough said.
Well, that was awesome. Do the taco tasting menu, for sure.
Never been. Waiter was first class and really liked how he explained everything. I'll definitely go back.
Truly outstanding dining experience. Unique flavors that don't overpower each other. Service was impeccable. Cannot wait to return to DC so that I can eat there again. Not inexpensive but completely worth it.
An extraordinary meal. We were 3 and we had the 4 course chef's meal. The service was outstanding and we enjoyed sharing our thoughts on dishes that we would like to sample. Our favorites were the first 2 courses - cuttlefish and shrimp pasta, sashimis, and oh that corn risotto with herbs and burrata plus the oxtail and grilled cabbage soft tacos. WOW. I have to take my hat off to the servers who accompanied us, warned us about quantities (it was seriously copious) and recommended the drink pairings. Delightful cocktails to start and red and white wines to discover. We cannot wait to return. My only criticisms would be the speed - we needed more time to savor, to eat, to digest, given the quantities. I know Americans expect to eat fast but I would recommend that you specifically ask to slow it down if you like a more mellow pace. Save room fro the warm donuts with dulce de leche dipping sauce ... Bravo to the entire team!
Disappointing. One-dimensional, overly spiced Mexican-ish.
Amazing food with great service. Beautiful venue!
We had the twelve course Dinner. Excellent Value for money, but unfortunately with lots of spicy sauces that killed some of the excellent flavours of the meal. Anyway, a good Experience.
In my mind, the dinner that my friend and I had at Poca Madre was worth the money. It's certainly not going to be a dinner I can do frequently, but everything I had was amazing and I was amazed with how good the food was all night long. The burrito sounded super decadent from the description, and for the price point, I was really hesitant. But it was the best burrito I've ever had in my life, and they really did an amazing job matching the flavor profiles of all the crazy sounding ingredients. I'd recommend this restaurant to any foodie looking for a great bite in Chinatown, or DC in general.
Food was as good as the service. The waiter was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. They were cautious with my gluten allergy, very appreciated.
Food and drinks were amazing! We had the testing menu. Service seem a bit off. At times we would get 2 plates at once but then for our last dish we waited for more than 20 minutes. Everything was delicious though. We would definitely come back but order a la carte.
