Have been here before and had a great time however on this occasion it wasn't as good. We were here for a birthday celebration and after getting comfortable we were asked to move tables to next to the main entrance accommodate a hen party; The menu has changed, The burgers were ok but not as good as they used to be(the pulled pork in the porky burger was dry); the Ribs main meal was tiny - once again the ribs used to be large and juicy. There was a mix up with the bill when we were paying; and although we did pay the service charge we thought it was cheeky for the restaurant to automatically add this to the bill (once again, this didn't used to happen). So I'm not sure what has changed, but please go back to how you used to be!
Banana split a little disappointing but burgers reliably good.
We met up with friends and location is very good and not too busy. Menu is a bit pricey but not extortionate. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Starters were very good - everyone enjoyed the four that we chose - nachos, catfish, burnt ends and calamari.
Main courses were less well received - disappointed with the portion size for the St Louis ribs but they tasted good. Biggest disappointment was with the £25 platter where all of the ribs were overcooked to the point of being black and crispy, as were the chicken pieces. We could just about taste BBQ on them but they were crunchy. It was only after we walked past other tables that we saw that ours were actually burnt compared to others and not the norm. It is not my style to complain at restaurants and generally I will wolf anything down but for the first time ever dining out, we had to comment.
Definitely not recommending to friends and definitely not going back there again.
My only recommendation to myself is to use Bodeans in the future as that was a similar price but 5x as good!
Have gone to a few Porky's branches over the last year or two. Drinks are great, and the Ribs are (for me) the best I've had in London. Wings are top class as well. Only shame is that they used to do a 'proper' wing (L shape) but now they've shrunk the portion sizes and made it smaller - the wings are the same size you get at your local 'bossman' chicken shop. Luckily the buffalo flavour they do is great, so that somewhat makes up for it.
Great bite to eat with the kids. No kids menu but they make smaller versions of the main menu!
We went with a group of friends yesterday to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday. Our waitress ordered our drinks but seemed to have got the order wrong. When the manager bought them over and we told her they were wrong, she didn't apologise but just gave us an annoyed look and took them back to the bar. She then proceeded to have a go at our waitress in front of us on the shop floor. Once we had ordered our food, which was very nice, there seemed to be a problem with the table behind us. The manager again called our waitress over to the kitchen door and started to have a cross word with her in earshot of all of us. I found this very unprofessional and felt quite sorry for our waitress who had now run off in tears. Surely they have an office and could have had a private word. With our waitress now missing, we sat for a good 20 minutes before we could get the managers attention to order desserts. A very disappointing meal for a special occasion. Shame the atmosphere was not as nice as the food!
Booked a table for a get together before attending the theatre. The atmosphere, food and staff combined to create a welcoming and relaxed evening. Tasty food at a great price was the finishing touch. Would definitely recommend, and will certainly be returning!
Really slow service and the food wasn't worth waiting for when it did arrive.
Great food, great atmosphere, great staff and a lovely manager who completely owns the floor - just lovely.
Thanks for a great night and delicious food and drinks.
Booked a table as part of a night out, great food, very tasty and decent portions so would recommend this as value for money.
Good food so I would recommend porkys for that but service not so good so I wouldn’t recommend this particular restaurant.
Great food, great place, great service
Thanks Nico for your friendship
I love porkys. Great atmosphere, sometimes the music can be a little too loud to be able to have a normal conversation but overall it’s great. They allow dogs which is a big reason we keep coming back. The staff are really nice and helpful, the food is delicious.
Great food and staff very friendly and accommodated us arriving early with 2 hungry kids.
Only downside was having a table next to the loos so had the door open and closing frequently. I would also recommend waitress maybe waiting until everyone finished eating before clearing plates. That said we will definately dine again and must say they serve the best burgers and ribs, we left with empty plates and full belly’s 👍😁. Relaxed atomphere with footie on the tv so boys very pleased. Would highly recommend.
Great value porky stuff. Tight on time and so notified them in advance and so in and out within the hour. Had food envy over the burger. I had pulled pork. Staff managed to help surprise 2 colleagues with cake and singing for their birthdays. The look on their faces was well worth the tip!!!
Food was ok some of the food was overdone and the sweet potato fries tasted like they had taken a bath in salt .
Service was very good waitresses were very helpful and friendly, although adding the 12.5% service charge automatically for a table of 2 is a little cheeky , was always going to leave a tip
Food was generally good, but don't come here if you want to talk to your friends. The atmosphere was of a sports bar with 120db music. This was not evident from their website. Fine for those who shout.
So two parts - ambience. Super, I mean super loud music to the point you can only have a shouty conversation. My fault for not realising this, but the beer pong tables should have given away that this is a kid/student kinda place. We had dinner, maybe lunchtimes are more quiet. I'm in my 30s and felt too old to be in there...
The food. I've been to Memphis and across the south, and I love love love bbq. Before you even begin a conversation about bbq, from Texas to Carolina...it's just a given that the meat is smoked. Everything gets smoked, which is really where 'low and slow' comes from. It gives meat that pink smoke ring and bacony, unctuous awesomeness that cannot be achieved any other way. This, sadly, is not it.
Does Pork's have any smokers? None of the food - ribs, burnt ends, pulled pork - tasted or looked like it had been anything other than oven cooked. Well hidden, by being drowned in sauce. Cooked well enough I guess (except for the burnt ends which were awful, dry and tough, the opposite of what burnt ends should be), but not what I was expecting or wanted. I can put ribs in the oven at home.
Again my fault I guess, as I should have noticed that nowhere on the menu or website do the mention smoking the meat. That and the fact they don't do brisket is a tell tale sign. Still feel conned though, for reasons stated above.
Overall, meh. Places like this will last for as long as Brits are new to what actual bbq is, because this ain't it. Found a place called Smokestak, will check that out instead.
GREAT choice for dog-owners! Staff there were incredibly and very attentive - as soon as they saw we'd brought our dog with us they were brought over a bowl of water, treats for the kitchen and checked throughout the evening that everything was ok. On top of that the food and drink were great and reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back :)
The food was relatively good. Unfortunately the service was awful and the service charge put on top of the bill was somewhat laughable
Quick, friendly service and lovely big portions! Ideal for a business lunch.
The venue and menu were perfect for a teenager's birthday celebration, and the staff were all super friendly and accomodating.
Foods good, a little dry perhaps but great tasty and fantastic portion. The only downside the place has is that they play the music incredibly loud, so if your hoping to be able to hear the people you are eating with, id suggest somewhere else.
Great venue, recommend the chilli, macaroni cheese starter
Good price for good food. I was satisfied with my order.
Food was good and so was the restaurant as a whole. Only real issue, but was out of the restaurants control, was a group that were in there and gad too much to drink. One of their party had a shot at the bar and proceeded to be sick all over the entrance to the toilets, not what you want want to see when you are out for a meal.
The food is over priced and not as tasty as it should be.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. Everyone loved their food , there was plenty of options.
Very accomdating to our needs and very friendly! Staff was amazing and would go again. Love the atmosphere
Great fun and decent American BBQ food. Over-ordered with extras, but request for a 'doggy-bag' was no problem - shame we forgot to take it with us !!
Excellent beers and wine too.
Our waitress (Australian lady) was really nice and helpful.
The service at Porky's BBQ is speedy and friendly - The food is very tasty.
It is located just a stone's throw from Shakespeare's Globe Theatre on London's South Bank and so is ideal for pre and post theatre meals.
Unsure what to do for my birthday, my friend suggested we go to Porky's BBQ as she had also great recommendations about the restaurant. Coming across a deal on TimeOut London for the 'Unlimited feast', I did not hesitate to purchase such a great deal.
The staff at the Bankside branch were indeed welcoming and friendly, starting off our evening to a great start. After ordering the Unlimited feast I was indeed taken back by the quantity of food that was presented to me. The quality of food served was exceptional and thanks to the TimeOut offer we were also able to ask for me. The cocktails were an added bonus and complimented the meal.
I can honestly say, for someone who loves off food as much as me, I was satisfied beyond my hearts content! The flavours were just mesmerizing..... I would definitely recommend it
Excellent food, better than I expected. Service was excellent.
Buzzing place with beer pong in the front, restaurant area in the back and loud music played throughout.
I shall definitely be coming back!
Went for dinner with my girlfriend. Was quite loud but staff were really great and friendly. Food was only just warm so that’s the only negative point.
Great BBQ food, attentive service and great selection of drinks
Wonderful quality American style BBQ food, accompanied by an expertly curated selection of beers and ciders, served by helpful, attentive and cheerful staff made for a great evening!
Nice food, good atmosphere - great for big groups. We would have liked to try the beer pong but the tables were too busy with work christmas parties
Really disappointed. Food was dry and over cooked. It was as if it had been reheated. Choice of sauces was poor. Staff were inattentive even though it was quiet.
In a close to empty restaurant, the staff almost outnumbered the seated guests when we arrived. The drinks and the starters came in good time and were nice enough. On the mains the beef brisket was incredibly dry and tough, honestly the worst BBQ brisket I've ever had. It was tough to the point where I couldn't get a fork into the meat. I put that part aside so I could get it replaced when someone came to check on us. No one did. When our table was cleared, we again weren't asked how the food was so we mentioned it then in the hope that we might have the brisket taken off our bill. When the bill came, again we were not asked how the food was nor had anyone passed on our complaint about the food. At this stage we paid and left to get dessert elsewhere.
We eat a lot of BBQ food, but we won't be going there again.
Super food as usual, but was disappointed the beef rib was no longer on the menu.
