Porky's BBQ Bankside
Friday - Saturday: 12pm - 10:30pm
Food is pretty terrible. Burgers were dry and over cooked , I’ve had better food in a pub. Service was good. There was also a piece of plastic or something in my food. I didn’t bother complaining
Cornbread and Mac n Cheese were amazing! Also the staff was very caring and always available. Ribs however were terrible as they weren’t fall of the bone, lacking flavor and seemed like they were from the previous day.
On the positive side the staff replaced them with some Nachos that were quite good. Overall a mixed experience, but not a terrible one if we had stayed away from the ribs.
Delicious food and cocktails which was served promptly. The staff were friendly and helpful. We weren’t rushed at all and spent a lovely Saturday lunchtime enjoying the atmosphere and food.
We had very high expectations of this restaurant, we waited over an hour for our starter and it was cold then they gave someone else our food and had to wait another 30 minutes for our mains to be re cooked. The place had a good feel to it and we enjoyed the restaurant itself but the rest was honestly a nightmare
Catfish too salty, music too loud, menu did not indicate spicy. Overall expensive and not for value
Food was good, but service and ambience was very much average and nothing special. Not really worth the amount paid
Service was great.. my group of friends were all late. The restaurant was accommodating and friendly.
Having Been to both the Camden and Bankside branches, I have to say that I didn’t feel the Americana vibe I was hoping for at a Bbq restaurant. Camden had a much better feel. Service was subpar and staff were not very welcoming, and considering the cuisine I’d expect a few more napkins and wipes. Portions were not great value especially the pastrami which is insanely priced for a few pieces of pastrami. Anyway was a neither here nor there experience. I won’t be back anytime soon
Had a late Saturday afternoon lunch. Was a special occasion for a family meet up. Porky's was a great choice as there was a range of ages and they could cater for all. Menu was varied and service was very good. Good value too for the location.
Ambience is good although very noisy later in the afternoon (I was there on a Saturday). Food was not great. Chicken burgers were very dry (Chicken was overcooked). Ribs also a bit dry unfortunately. Service was fine - friendly waiters - but a bit slow at times. Will not be revisiting this particular restaurant.
Great food, wonderful service - best buffalo wings I’ve had for a while! Highly recommend
Great place with good food good bear and a decent atmosphere
Our waitress was rude on multiple occasions and was very slow, she didn’t seem to understand what she was doing at all. Which is a shame because we love the manager!
Uncooked chicken, Drab Attempt at bbq food. Beer ok, service ok.
The chicken wasn’t uncooked, it was raw, terrible.
I'm not sure where to start really... Went here for my birthday and the place was chaotic! Barely any staff (due to a barman and chef walking out), the food was OK I suppose, but I didn't get my starter until after everyone else had finished theirs, the pork ribs weren't cooked through (red raw), wrong drinks were regularly brought out... Pretty much everything that could go wrong went wrong.
BUT, the waitresses were great, hugely apologetic, knocked money off our bill, and did their best to manage the mayhem. We didn't have an awful time, only because it was pretty much farcical, during the 2.5 hours we spent there. We won't go back, ever, but at least the staff tried their best and somehow managed to keep the entire restaurant from falling apart... Well done to them, just a shame so many customers would've had an overall awful experience.
Food was ok but expected the ribs to be better. £9 lunch was good value though. Service was friendly
We had a great time playing beer pong and the food was delicious. All of the staff were fantastic!
This is the second time I have taken friends to Bankside Porky's BBQ, and I have loved both occasions. From friendly staff to delicious (and well priced) food, this establishment is well worth a visit!
Great venue for beer pong and amazing staff.
Food was good, burnt pork ends were the highlight. Burgers nice but pretty standard.
Happy hour definitely worth it - spritz cocktails were very tasty.
Great food and drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely come back again
This worked very well pre theatre at the Globe. Nice atmosphere and food was very nice .
Sound system way to loud. Couldn't hear ourselves think much less talk. They have beer pond tables set up in the back so it seems that the only sounds patrons need to hear are the cheers of a successful cup sinking. Shame, because the food seemed tasty (we had starters before we bolted to a quieter venue). Mind you, we waited 40 minutes for our starters.
Husband’s ribs weren’t smoked (as you would get in America) but more like a pot roast taste, but my burger and mac & cheese were lovely. Loved the American theme and ambiance and the servers were very nice.
Great casual place. Loved the menu and the food
Good food, enough choice on menu but not overwhelming. Staff polite and friendly. Would prefer no music as I was with someone who is a little deaf. Did not add to experience and could do without TV screens. The food and staff don't need any "extras". Overall a most enjoyable visit, catering well for 3 generations. Thank you. Jo N22
Everything was great! Delicious food and great service. Nothing too much trouble with really friendly staff
Great, authentic BBQ. The place was buzzing with atmosphere, a busy environment. Our food really was top notch, everyone was really happy with their starters and main courses. Special mention for the virgin cocktails - both types we had were delicious. Service was friendly enough
Only a couple of downsides; we were told that the bar was very busy so there would be a long delay so we didn't order more drinks....(get more staff?? you are losing business this way!). Secondly, we ordered a coffee, it never arrived - we had a train to catch so we weren't able to chase this (it wasn't on our final bill so it obviously never registered in the first place with the server). oh, and manager(?) said he was unable to get us a taxi so told us to go to the London Road (where?) - we are from out-of-town so had no idea where this meant (but we were lucky after 5 minutes walking we stumbled across a taxi).
Honestly the worst BBQ I have ever had, lol. Nothing worse than dry pulled pork. And they don’t even have extra bbq sauce you can use...
The food was reasonably presented, but the quality of the food was very basic. This combined with the smaller than expected portion sizes, this experience was very poor value for money.
We had the pork belly, baby back ribs, and pastrami - they were all delicious! The skin on chips and milkshake were also superb. Very happy with the meal overall!
Staff were friendly but service was a bit slow. Restaurant lacked atmosphere, one half had chairs on the tables. No children's menu or options makes it expensive to dine with kids. Half the tables had kids eating. Ordered our child a burger without sauce, pickles and onion but it still came with sauce (the waiter interrupted me when I was try to explain our request and rushed me, he wasn't really listening) so we then had to wait ages for a replacement bun. I had 2 different glasses of wine as the pinot grigio tasted oaky (possibly corked) it was replaced with sauv blanc, both wines had a watery finish to them which killed the flavour, it was a bit strange. I later noticed the bartender shaking ice cubes in peoples wine glasses before pouring in wine, leaving water in the glass and diluting the taste of the wine. We went for father's day. It was all a bit lack lustre. Feels like the restaurant doesn't really belong on this touristy drag. We choose it for the food style and it was ok but not outstanding. I'll not go back, too expensive with so-so service and so-so quality of food and drink. I was disappointed.
Have been here before and had a great time however on this occasion it wasn't as good. We were here for a birthday celebration and after getting comfortable we were asked to move tables to next to the main entrance accommodate a hen party; The menu has changed, The burgers were ok but not as good as they used to be(the pulled pork in the porky burger was dry); the Ribs main meal was tiny - once again the ribs used to be large and juicy. There was a mix up with the bill when we were paying; and although we did pay the service charge we thought it was cheeky for the restaurant to automatically add this to the bill (once again, this didn't used to happen). So I'm not sure what has changed, but please go back to how you used to be!
Finally a good place we can eat at with our dog! He was made to feel very welcome as we we. Great service and good comfort food. Will definitely head back here!
Banana split a little disappointing but burgers reliably good.
This place was amazing! Authentic BBQ and homemade BBQ sauce. The staff was extremely nice and they made sure we had quick service since we were on a time crunch.
We met up with friends and location is very good and not too busy. Menu is a bit pricey but not extortionate. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Starters were very good - everyone enjoyed the four that we chose - nachos, catfish, burnt ends and calamari.
Main courses were less well received - disappointed with the portion size for the St Louis ribs but they tasted good. Biggest disappointment was with the £25 platter where all of the ribs were overcooked to the point of being black and crispy, as were the chicken pieces. We could just about taste BBQ on them but they were crunchy. It was only after we walked past other tables that we saw that ours were actually burnt compared to others and not the norm. It is not my style to complain at restaurants and generally I will wolf anything down but for the first time ever dining out, we had to comment.
Definitely not recommending to friends and definitely not going back there again.
My only recommendation to myself is to use Bodeans in the future as that was a similar price but 5x as good!
Have gone to a few Porky's branches over the last year or two. Drinks are great, and the Ribs are (for me) the best I've had in London. Wings are top class as well. Only shame is that they used to do a 'proper' wing (L shape) but now they've shrunk the portion sizes and made it smaller - the wings are the same size you get at your local 'bossman' chicken shop. Luckily the buffalo flavour they do is great, so that somewhat makes up for it.
Great bite to eat with the kids. No kids menu but they make smaller versions of the main menu!
We went with a group of friends yesterday to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday. Our waitress ordered our drinks but seemed to have got the order wrong. When the manager bought them over and we told her they were wrong, she didn't apologise but just gave us an annoyed look and took them back to the bar. She then proceeded to have a go at our waitress in front of us on the shop floor. Once we had ordered our food, which was very nice, there seemed to be a problem with the table behind us. The manager again called our waitress over to the kitchen door and started to have a cross word with her in earshot of all of us. I found this very unprofessional and felt quite sorry for our waitress who had now run off in tears. Surely they have an office and could have had a private word. With our waitress now missing, we sat for a good 20 minutes before we could get the managers attention to order desserts. A very disappointing meal for a special occasion. Shame the atmosphere was not as nice as the food!
Booked a table for a get together before attending the theatre. The atmosphere, food and staff combined to create a welcoming and relaxed evening. Tasty food at a great price was the finishing touch. Would definitely recommend, and will certainly be returning!
