I’ve been to Porters a few times and it's always a great choice, the food is wonderful and the service is always great! One of my favs restaurants in Southampton

Firstly, we had to have the table replaced as the top was extremely wobbly. The starters were warm but not hot. After the starters I was served the "worst" steak that I have ever eaten. The meat was full of fat and and there was very little meat at all. I was then told that I would need to order something else as the restaurant policy was not to take the price of the meal off the bill. The server was very patronising and rude but eventually, and after an extremely unpleasant conversation, the meal was taken off the bill. The evening was totally ruined. It was a shame as the restaurant was recommended by the friends that we were with on the night which made it really embarrassing for them.

As a professional chef myself, the price of the steaks need to be a bit more attention to detail, just putting them on a plate with some fries and a bit of dressed salad leaves doesn’t really show care when paying £32 for a ribeye. Having to wait half an hour to order our food as well I wouldn’t call that quality service and we have to get the attention of the waitress as well instead of her coming over to us. My friend found a hair in her food as well which again isn’t acceptable for the standard you are trying to portray. Overall I felt a bit deflated from my experience, I didn’t feel the love and passion that should be put into someone’s dining experience.

Beautiful roast dinner on a sunday, with fantastic service from Lili (?). Borderline outrageously large portion size. Recommended!

Good service and great food. Went after my daughter’s graduation and none of us found any fault with the food or service. Not cheap but worth it
