A lovely evening, great service and beautiful food.
Staff are doing a great job to keep this running so smoothly in these times, we were lucky to eat just before going into tier 3! Will definitely return, the flavours running through the food were sublime, and the deep fried banoffee pie was to die for!
Excellent relaxed but attentive service with great food.
We had a very enjoyable lunch very good food drinks and staff
Dog friendly, good social distancing, delicious food, good service but prices a bit steep
Stunning setting and delicious food. Staff very attentive and COVID precautions were great. Would highly recommend
This is no ordinary beach cafe. It’s location is superb and fusion menu of locally sourced food and drink is just perfect. Primarily a seafood restaurant, its popularity still attracts a wide range of new and returning customers, myself included. Great brunch to celebrate our Christmas Eve wedding!
As always excellent meal and a exceptional location.
Irrespective of covid this place is declining. Has been for a couple of years. Expensive without cause, a mismatch of trying to do far to complicated food that doesn’t work or align to the restaurant’s tired and slight grubby interior. Shame as we love the location.
Great service but food quite expensive for just every day dining. Great for a special occasion and in the summer it would have great views across the beach.
Food was incredible!! Service was brilliant but the patio heaters were a bit too much it was boiling at one point and took a while for them to be turned off.
Went for kids tea. Lovely fresh food but we ordered extra peas which were forgotten and there was no baby change facility so we deducted points for lack of family friendly amenities in that respect.
Otherwise lovely and a great setting
We had a fabulous late lunch on Sunday. I'd visited in September and thought the staff seemed tired and a little worn out, which was probably the case after a very busy couple of months but they were brilliant this time. Food as ever was delicious as were the cocktails we had to drink due to the rain coming down!
Excellent food and service ( as always never had a bad meal here ) The menu was quite extensive considering it’s Covid times - it was contemporary with some old favourites ( we love monkfish curry)
As always the fish was fresh, beautifully cooked and well presented - I had the Bream - fish of the day and my husband had the curry. Our starters of maker also bao bun and onion bargee were delicious too
Staff are always knowledgable and recommended a good wine too
We always try to visit when we are down it’s my favourite place to eat and the view with spectacular sunsets is to die for in the spring/ summer
We were lucky to book last min - never possible in season but grateful we got in and had a fantastic meal - worth driving 400 miles for ( we were on a maintenance trip )
I have dined here so many times over the years did the good just gets better! Great service too
We have visited the restaurant on a number of occasions. The location is great, and the fish mains are good. We selected a few starters to try and were quite disappointed as felt they were just ok - the one vegetarian option was a bit unimaginative (a plate of carbs) and would recommend it to not be as expensive as a fish main course. We would try again as we believe it could be a one-off but expect to a better tasting experience for the price.
Excellent location and lovely restaurant with good atmosphere. Host was so friendly and helpful
Food good but not quite as refined or good as the porthminster cafe .
The weather was terrible outside (I know that it is Cornish weather) , waiting for the main meal did take longer than expected. My Mother did enjoy her meal very much and I enjoyed mine. It was great news that they accepted cash star +for that. The only thing that I wasn’t on board with was being called You Guy’s, but all in all very good indeed, especially when you have a great view of Hayle.
Absolutely fabulous service and food. We felt very safe due to the current situation with lots of space between diners and the team’s efficiency with Covid rules.
What a fabulous place. Temperature check at entrance, tables well spaced out and everything sanitised.
Staff were really helpful and friendly. Food was delicious and what a view from our table by the window!!!
Excellent food and setting. Service very friendly and prompt. My waitress, unbeknown to me, must have seen me trying and failing to identify (byShazam), the song which was playing and she brought me a slip of paper with the artist and song title on it. A very nice touch.
Another fabulous meal at Porthminster - always a treat!
Great fish n chips. Lovely friendly service. Thank you
Lovely food, drinks and overall dining experience, supported by great, friendly service.... cant wait to come back...
Highly recommended..
Booking and arrival greeting went well. Take service good. Quality of food good.
Pleasant overall impression. We will use the restaurant again in the future
A birthday treat started with champagne
My favourite starter salt and pepper squid followed by Sea Bass
My husbands French onion soup with cheese rarebit and fish and chips were spot on to
Very attentive pleasant staff
Lots of space so felt really safe
Very nice place, the food was spectacular and the views couldn't be better. All the tables are spaced between each other and they take care that everyone keeps the distance and hygiene measures.
Everything fantastic. Really loved going back again. Great food and service.
We cannot recommend Porthminster Beach Café highly enough for the food, quality and friendliness of the service. We have recommended it to our friends as a 'must do' place to try out if they ever visit St Ives.
We have now eaten there on each of our last three visits to St Ives and have never been disappointed.
Great food, but a bit disappointed there wasn't much shellfish on the menu
One of the best locations to eat at in town , great service and excellent food as always
Lovely place. Attentive staff. Covid precautions well managed. Really good food. Highly recommended.
Not so sure plastic table and chairs in conservatory was what I hoped for, but didn’t specify main dining room at booking, so can’t complain. Service super. Linguine bit bland and fishless but all else great. Cheese dessert tad ‘mean’. Tempranillo wine on the cheaper end of selection but still could have been bit better choice ..., always return to either ‘kitchen’ or ‘cafe’ as we’re kinda local....
Excellent food and service as usual. It was lovely to go back to our favourite restaurant and we certainly were not disappointed. We had a wonderful evening
Have been to this restaurant on a few occasions over the last 20 years and it just gets better & better. Would highly recommend everything about it. The food was exceptional, service first class & they dealt with all the COVID implications very well. Cannot wait to go back.
Had a lovely lunch here on last visit to St.Ives - two years later still just as impressive - excellent, friendly and professional service - excellent food wine and cocktails!
Better value with equal quality dining elsewhere in St Ives
Food was served warm and had to be sent back. Server was rude and unprofessional
Food, location and service was outstanding!
Relaxed, pleasant environment, serving very interesting and delicious food.
