Post Office, Margate
So you can imagine a lot of work's been going into breathing life into an awesome building.
So we thought we'd break down for you what you can expect when it opens.
The restaurant with an elegant touch has a warm and inviting atmosphere with well-spaced tables and soft lighting.
The menus are based around using simple seasonal ingredients to create dishes that are extremely attractive to the eye, distinct
and bold in flavour.
It was our first time at the Post Office and we were sad to discover it was the last night. Everything was great for our special occasion and we would have certainly returned. Sorry to hear that it is closing. Great atmosphere, value for money and adaptability for differing diets. Please reopen!
Food was fresh and delicious cooked with a modern flair and service was great friendly helpful lovely staff .
Food great ,staff lovely and really nice wine. Like the way the menu is accessible to all budgets too. We had a fun evening for my best friends birthday. Thanks
Great service and food, and a nice ambiance, went to make for a good evening
Really delicious food, we all loved every mouthful of our dinner. The waiters were super lovely too. Shall be back again.
Stylish restaurant with a relatively small menu but the food was excellent.
Ive been before and the food is very nice indeed. The service is ok. The music was pretty loud
Lovely restaurant. Great food and wine, nice atmosphere, good service, reasonably priced.
The waiter didn't know how to pour sparkling wine. He stood on the bench seating next to us in dirty shoes to adjust the blinds.
The food was excellent. The croquettes were great, but a strange accompaniment to the fish. The fish was beautifully cooked.
Liked all the potted plants.
Best burger of my life and great service. Highly recommended
Took my son and his bestie to try this eaterie out. ive eaten there once before and the food was as tasty as previously. the men had steak and even i as a veggie could have eaten it. i had polenta and mushroom - so yummy. i had cauliflower dips in cheese to start..they had large prawns..def go again. the chef or is it chefs are great..try it..nice smoochy music too💃🏾👍🏽🤗
Great service, lovely surroundings and wonderful food.
Really lovely lunch and the dishes were all great, smoked prawns and burger especially good, service was helpful and friendly. Really enjoyed it, will return
Great food, excellent service, lovely surroundings. And good music to boot! Worth seeking out.
We’ve been here a few times and want this place to do well. Our first visit they had ran out of a starter and second visit they ran out of our wine choice.
Ordered a £18 fish dish and it came with croquets with meat. My partner is a pescatarian and asked for a substitute. Request granted but the meat croquets still arrived. These were taken away but he had to wait ages for the replacement and by this time he’d finished his fish. If he’d waited his fish would have been cold. There wasn’t really an apology or any recognition of the obvious. They should have brought the meal as a whole.
One waitress was lovely whilst the other really surly. It was only when mentioned did they take off a small amount from the bill. £15 for a piece of fish is too much for that type of service.
It feels like its all a bit too much for this new team. I hope not as the high streets need independents.
Outstanding interiors, flawless service, and scrumptious food. The best place to eat in Margate.
Incredible food and friendly, helpful staff. Very considered selection of food and wines make for a fantastic experience. Great atmosphere with lots of natural light. Will be my go to meal spot whenever I am in Margate.
Lovely place. Amazing food and service. Shame they aren’t doing Sunday roasts for summer but the food is amazing
Really nice food and service but the music was so loud my party of 3 could barely hear each other! Very frustrating. Was the same on my last visit - there probably won't be a third.
Loved it my friends were visiting from Madrid
A delightful experience. I had the tastiest mac n cheese in my life all swilled down with a cold fresh aperol spritz. I would highly recommend this restaurant for food and drinks
Wonderful Friday evening at the Post Office to celebrate a birthday. The food was great - they even flexed to make veggie meals vegan. And being able to take our pup with us was the icing on the cake. Cocktails were ace and food fantastic. Thanks so much
Lovely evening out with family and friends... just need a couple more pudding options
Mixed feelings about this restaurant. We walked in at 8pm on a sunny Friday evening. The building and decor was nice, some lovely original features however, the restaurant was very quiet, only 2/3 tables occupied. We then proceeded to ask for things to be told they weren’t available. No cocktails, even though this was a highlight on the website, no lime cordial, no soda water and so it went on. It was almost laughable and I felt quite sorry for the staff, who appeared embarrassed. At one point the waitress popped out to buy some soda water for us. The food however, was amazing. Could not be faulted and was mouth wateringly delicious and presented beautifully. This restaurant feels like its not totally evolved. Its a little off the beaten track which probably doesn’t do it any favours. Food was sooo good but the service and availability/variety of produce was poor. Shame because this restaurant could be amazing.
Visited in June 2019, midweek:
We ate from the set menu and both had the cheese toastie and it was amazing- do not judge until you’ve tried it! Cheese lovers will be in for a treat with the food on offer but even on the set menu there is still something for everyone. Service is friendly but swift and you felt you got a warm welcome when there.
Set in a former post office, the decor is lovely and we struggled to fault anything here. Will definitely return!
Food was lovely, although we had to goggle our menu as all in Italian on a A4 bit of paper.
Waitress was lovely, only one on doing everything.
Decor was charming.
Ladies toilets were downstairs, a little creepy.
Not to pleased about a dog being in the restaurant but don't know what there policy is on that.
Overall experience, pleasant evening, might go again but not putting it on must return list.
really enjoyed our meal great startrs and tge bream main was superb
The sea bream and croquettes were super tasty!
Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Lovely atmosphere, food is of excellent quality and great value for money.
This was our 2nd visit and definitely not our last 😊
We went for 1st time to Post Office on Saturday. Very nice decor. Staff extremely pleasant and you can take dogs! So good.
I had the Burrata to start which was lovely. We also had prawns, asparagus all good.
3 of us had Rigatoni which was delicious but one had steak which was very poor, really tough.
The 2 chocolate deserts were delicious but the 2 bread and butter puddings were really cold and the custard! Disappointed with that. We were given coffee on the house as we had to wait for our deserts.
Wine was very good, a lovely full bodied red.
All in all a nice place and friendly staff
Really lovely food - simple dishes cooked to perfection. Am going back today to try a Sunday roast
On arrival I had to request a high chair despite contacting twice already to ensure we had one. We were then put in a corner "out of the way" of who I don't know as throughout there were only 2 other tables in use . It was a birthday meal ( as they were aware) for my 88 year old mother so they sat us under a speaker and continued to turn up the music throughout the meal, and even when we mentioned it they carried on- by the end we literally could not hear each other speak , it was like being in a club. Our starters were lovely and made us look forward to our mains, however the main courses were a total let down- the fish was served on a bed of mixed foods which should never be put together (and were not all on the menu description either) so my mum ate the fish with no accompaniment, I had the cheese toastie- this was swimming in grease and I managed to force down about a 3rd of it before I felt so sick I gave up. This place has tried too hard to be a modern fancy restaurant and has failed. The atmosphere is dead and the food very poor and attention to customers needs is non existent. There were 2 other tables who came in , read the menu and left ( which we would have done had it not been such a mission getting my mother and son who has disabilities to the place in the start) will definitely recommend against anyone going there
Amazing food and service.
The service was good and the waiters were friendly but the food was of a very low standard. We were glad we had lip balm to apply after the meal given how salty the food was. The fish was the worst - instead of nice crispy skin, we were served rubber and slime.
The menu had changed from when we had booked
We had a table booked for 7 people at 3pm some items were no longer available from the menu and also some drinks
Having waited quite sometime to be served and then finding out some food wasn't available we left very disappointed
Really good meal.... nice ambience, nice service, good wine. Will definitely go again.
Absolutely first class foo & service, would recommend to anyone
Faultless service and rich delicious food. I had the fish pie. Creamy and well cooked.
Food was very good using fresh tasty produce and warm friendly staff
This is a nice place which would have a better atmosphere if a few more people were there as it's quite big.
I had the burger which was really nice and reasonably priced. My companions tried other dishes which I thought looked a bit small for the prices.
Overall, I would go back but perhaps with a larger crowd of friends.
