The food was not really good. Too bad because it is a great.
wonderful place ! great location, friendly staff and very good food
It took an hour for our food to come out and we have young children. The waitress was not even that apologetic and said she doesn’t cook the food so she doesn’t know why it took so long. Not at all the service we deserved for such an expensive meal!
Food was terrible. Dessert was decent. Pretty setting and ambiance. I asked the hostess for a blanket and claimed she did not have one...the restaurant is in a hotel...
The jazz was amazing but the food was mediocre, service very slow and VERY over priced for what you’re getting. Come on. Beautiful view though and the live music excellent.
Outdoor seating is a beautiful atmosphere
We had a lovely time at The Pridwin for lunch. The view is just beautiful but with a table for six, 3 people couldn't see it because the table was facing the building. Perhaps if the end of the table faced the building, we'd all see the water. No big deal though. Just a thought. Cocktails were special (St Germaine Spritz was so delicious). The food was very nice and the staff could not have been nicer. Great place to go for lunch! Thank you.
Thank you to everyone at Pridwin. Also, Happy Birthday J.P.
I felt the food choices were limited and our waitress wasn’t very friendly nor was she able to explain what were in the dishes very well.
The hotel looked a bit outdated.
A very nostalgic hotel from some 90 years ago, with hints of the movie "Dirty Dancing". Current owners there about 50 years, to keep up the feeling. The hotel is right across the road, from the bay, and docks, and eating on the 2nd floor outdoor patio, gave you the most magnificent views. Sunset was at about 7:45m and the beautiful sky had color for almost the next hour. The menu, and food prepartation was excellent, with everything tasting so fresh. Vincent, our waiter, was terrific, in terms of knowledge, and execution. My grand daughter has a tree nut allergy, and he suggested nothing fried. When her plate came out with fries on it, he grabbed it, and returned it to the kitchen, and had the whole plate remade, without us having to say a word.
We have rented homes in the Hamptons, for over 10 years, and this was out best eating experience to date.
Lovely dinner at The Pridwin! Beautiful views and delicious food!
The Pridwin restaurant is no secret. it is well loved and that is well deserved —great service , food and ambiance!
The pridwin is always the best spot in the island, always a good meal!
The four dishes we ordered were all unfortunately terrible. The seafood salad was soggy and apparently pre-made, perhaps having sat in a refrigerator for days. The hummus with crudités dismal, not fresh—its flatbread stale. The “feta salad” overdressed and with ingredients that tasted plastic. Finally one bite of the charred and lumpy gnocchi and we turned it away.
I have never written a bad restaurant review, but our food experience here motivated me. Really too bad, because the view is breathtaking and the wait staff is courteous. But you can’t deliver good service with unserviceable food.
Gotta try striped bass!
The food and service at the Pridwin is very good. The selling point is the view! Sitting on the upper deck with a view of the water is priceless!!! I found when we made reservations and requested outdoor seating, they gave you a table with the best view. While the bill was high, the view and service made up for it! I loved the chicken under a brick! It was flavorful and very moist! Skip the gnocchi.
Sophisticated chef elevates Pridvin restaurant to new high. Among Best food on the entire Shelter Island. Modern, complex flavors, well thought of. Attentive service, stunning views. Great team work.
Lovely water setting. Delicious dinner, good wine selections and excellent service.
Dinner at the Pridwin Hotel is always one of the highlights of our summers on Shelter Island. The view is the best on the island and would be hard to top anywhere in the world. The food has always been very good but I would say that the meal we had may have been the best ever. The scallops over a chowder type sauce including baby clams was divine. The presentation was lovely and the service was excellent. The waitstaff is usually from Ireland or another European country and they couldn't be more service oriented. If you are lucky enough to get an outdoor table on a nice evening before sunset you will be treated to a very special evening.
My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn't experience the view but I can imagine it being beautiful!
I had a lobster roll and my husband had the bass. The food was good and the service was great. Definitely recommend.
Beautiful view! Overlooking the water we had a delightful dinner. The portions were generous. The burrata appetizer a was very good and the pork was excellent. Romantic setting.
Service needs improvement
The place has so much potential, it’s sad that it is being squanded
Beautiful setting over looking the water. The waitresses were lovely and the food excellent. Great value not something one can often say about the Hamptons area. Especially so given the setting. Highly recommend
Lovely setting overlooking Crescent Beach in Shelter Island. Feels like a cottage in Maine or the Adirondack s. Service very good but kitchen a little slow. Don’t come if you don’t want to sit and relax! The food, when it comes, is excellent. Nothing unusual- but fresh and well cooked. Cocktails are imaginative and delicious.
excellent service, excellent food, always a pleasure to go there
Lovely setting. Gracious staff. It made for a lovely summer event trip from sag harbor and back.
Best views on the island for dinner. Never disappoints!
Had reservations for 4 ,got there on time . Given a great table overlooking the bay. They were not busy yet and several of the servers and bus boy walked by the table at least 10 times not filling our water or giving us menus. I tried to flag someone down but still Waited 20 min until the waitress came over for our drink order . She was extremely apologetic. Ordered Our drinks took other 10 minutes and 2 of them were delivered to the wrong table so they had to go back . They were brought out immediately so obviously not remade. We saw them on the table next to us and the couple didn’t touch them otherwise I would have been upset.
The food was good. We had the smoked ricotta and for an appetizer . Said we would be sharing it but only came with 3 baguette pieces.? mozzarella with nectarine salad was good . For dinner we had the gnocchi with mushrooms , brick chicken and lobster roll . Looked up the menu before we went and wanted to try a few items that were no longer on the menu. It changed at the restaurant but not on the website 🙁
Their Servers needs training ,
The food is good but over priced. Go for the view if you have the money and time. Don’t go thirsty or hungry like we did.
Great food in an amazing setting and fabulous sunset views.
Go for the view at sunset. Skip the food.
Vacation spot is great and relaxing. Not much needed to stay and enjoy!
Food ridiculously good. Service was fine except that it took them an hour to seat us after our reserved time.
Excellent food and service, beautiful setting on the porch. A little pricey, but you are paying for the setting I guess. The only suggestion would be to provide higher quality rolls and butter! They were not very good.
The view is beautiful.
The food is god awful. Besides the fava bean hummus, which we enjoyed, everything was dated, subpar, over cooked, etc. The service was really poor. We waited an exorbitant amount of time for drink refills, the check, etc...yet the entrees were right on top of the appetizers. The lovely view is not enough to make me eat here again.
The chicken under a brick is very very good. The smoke for Carter was good but the topping was just way too sweet
Fabulous sunset as always.
Slow and inexperienced service - things like refilling water glass, noticing that drinks glasses were empty and failing to offer another beverage, assuming both diners were finished when one diner’s plate was empty...but the food itself was very good and the sunset views were extraordinary!
The Pridwin is our favorite place and we anxiously await their season every year! Food is always excellent, the staff is efficient and very friendly, and you can’t beat the view!
Fabulous view, great service and yummy food.
Love the Pridwin for its fanstasic view and great food.
The ambiance, views, and sunset are truly gorgeous. The service was truly terrible. The food was just ok.
