Dried Cherry, Coffee Ice Cream
Duck Two Ways
Celery Root, Savoy Cabbage, Chestnuts
Winter Vegetable Soup
Apple, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Miso
Very fresh ingredients. Incredible taste. Wish they had coffee.
Cozy setting; a bit loud when fully packed but it started getting quieter later in the evening. 3 of us dined and we all enjoyed our appetizers and main courses. The desserts were fine but not as standout as the first two courses. Felt it was a good value at this price point ($50 for 3 good-sized courses)
Wonderful food and wonderful dinner!
PUMPKIN IS THE BEST...love everything. Its noisy for us because we are old!!!!
Consistently one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia
Excellent food, quick and efficient service, lovely place, will definitely recommend
Every choice in the small menu was superb. Not knowing the offerings in advance is never a problem.
We've been eating at Pumpkin since it opened 17 years ago. Its food has been consistently delicious and its menu imaginative. And the prices are always reasonable.
Delicious and innovative food prepared with exceptional attention to detail. The dining room and service is simple and no fuss giving a relaxed atmosphere. We'll be back -- and at the price, it's not necessary to wait for a special occasion.
Absolutely delicious varieties on the menu! Our skirt steak was amazing and tender with such good flavor!
Looking forward to our next visit!!
The food was delicious and the server/kitchen timed all plates perfectly so we didn’t feel rushed or like we were waiting.
Wow, wow, WOW!
Simply sublime meal, impeccably curated with seasonal ingredients and skillfully prepared. Service casual but attentive. Pleasant dining room.
I had a perfect cold corn chowder. Never had one better. Added the fresh tomato pasta as a 4th course…screamed the freshness of ripe tomatoes. Then sautéed duck breast with fresh cherries….simply perfect.
Peanut butter torte was a delight.
This kitchen has great talent!
3 course prix fix for 50 bucks!!
Seriously…run don’t walk to Pumpkin.
I came with an 03 LaTour a Pomerol and
Food always delivers.
Brutally hot inside. Fish was over cooked and dry.
Food was great, dining room is very small and crowded. You are bumping elbows with the next table
Special birthdays for three of the 4 diners. And it was special.
The corn soup was the star for me but everybody liked everything.
Food and service were spectacular. Flavors hit all the right notes. Intimate space, never felt rushed
Fabulous, flavorful, unique flavor combinations, excellent attentive service in adorable intimate space
The kitchen was great in accommodating an allergy on short notice. Every dish was absolutely delicious.
A terrific restaurant... understated, interesting, extremely well done menu. Our second time there, coming up from DC, where there is no shortage of great restaurants...Pumpkin compares well!! And next time we're inPhilly, we'll go for a third time!
The food is amazing! So fresh & unique! The staff is lovely as well & can’t beat BYOB!
Great vegetarian option! Imaginative, thoughtful food.
Food was good but not great. Duck was chewy but tasted delicious. Service was impeccable but the restaurant is too loud - not sure that can be helped with so many people in a small space but maybe some noise dampeners would help?
Great spot with a fantastic selection. Cooked to perfection and just the right amount. BYOB is just the icing on top.
You can't make a bad choice from this 3-course menu! I had the cold pea soup, which was like velvet, if velvet were green and vegetal and good for you. So silky smooth and tasty! The Pekin duck was delicious, served with the perfect sides. And the panna cotta is ALWAYS great at Pumpkin. This restaurant is a Philadelphia treasure!
We had a bad experiences, it was over price, cold, the waiters was pushing us to order quick
We paid almost 200 for 2 people no drinks
The table was no stable just very bad!!
Date night and ate outside. The Three Course had great options and we added on the Cheese and Bread Course to start. Our Server was professional and helpful. Love this place because of the creative and approachable selections. Will always recommend.
The. BEST. BEST. BEST.
Excellent food. Fantastic presentation. Creative and well executed dishes. Accessible high cuisine. Organic and locally sourced ingredients. Professional service. Great price for a high-end culinary experience. An amazing restaurant. The menu changes regularly. The chilled green peas soup was ideal for a warm evening--tasty and refreshing; the steak was cooked to perfection; the pasta was a delight; and the desserts (we tried them all) were heavenly. Pumpkin makes Philadelphia a better place for foodies and for anyone else who may enjoy a great meal.
Food and service were outstanding. Highly recommend!
Fine service and some of the best food I have ever had at Pumpkin. The flank steak dish was creative and deeply flavorful. The chilled pea soup was heavenly and I loved the basil panna cotta, a perfect summer dessert.
The service was great and our server was very friendly. The flavors of the food were very good but the main course (steak) came out room temperature at best for both of us. The plating and overall attention to detail left a lot to be desired. There’re is a lot of potential though and hope they turn things around.
Diana, Janine and the whole crew were an absolute dream. It’s so refreshing to see true professionals do their jobs so well. Everything from beginning to end were spectacular. I’m still dreaming of the quail dish. Bravo pumpkin and thank you all so so much!
Came here with a friend visiting from out of town. I have been here several times, and love it. The food and service is always A+. Really amazing stuff. Get the duck, olives, bread and beet salad. So delicious.
So nice to be back at Pumpkin! I love their seasonal, always changing menu. Everything was delicious...wonderful chilled pea soup, swordfish with white beans and the quail was divine. Worth the $4 to get Lostbread bread as an addition. There was a glitch with our reservation and though I had received a confirmed "outside" seating, Pumpkin had us reserved as "inside". It was very pleasant, breezy and not too loud in the cozy dining room. I didn't feel uncomfortable (post-Covid), as we are vaccinated. The servers couldn't have been nicer, realizing the seating mistake and handled it appropriately. A great evening!
The only unfortunate aspect pertained to the reservation for an outdoor table. I had first called the restaurant because Open Table did not allow for reserving outdoor seating The person I spoke to at the restaurant said I should return to Open Table to make the res and note in their Special Request section that outdoor seating was required, and that she was noting it on the restaurant’s log as well. When we arrived we were told that no res for outdoor seating had been made and that all those tables were reserved, although the front of house person did admit that the note on the log was there snd the request on the Open Table res was there as well. I unfortunately had to be very insistent and argue that she needed to seat us before she finally agreed to do so. I think Open Table needs to add an option for reserving indoor or outdoor tables given the current state of post Covid re-opening.
What a nice evening at Pumpkin! Really delicious and relaxing. The oysters we're spectacular. I loved my gulf shrimp appetizer, and fish with kale and white beans, but both desserts we chose--the panna cotta and blueberry cake--were among the best I've had. Sitting outside on the warm summer evening was just about perfect.
Monkfish delicious. Husband’s duck had a vein of gristle in middle.
Really wonderful food and presentation. Fantastic service. I’m a foodie.. high expectations. Was so pleased. A Class act in every way. Will be there again very soon.
We ate in the outdoor "streetery" area on a Thursday night. Overall it's a quiet part of South Street but you do get some of the loud passing cars so there is some extra ambience. Considering we live on one of these busy streets, it didn't bother us - normal Thursday to us!
The outdoor seating area is cute! You have to be careful with the tables/chairs due to the street, but it's not a permanent structure so I don't think a restaurant deserves any dings right now for a slightly slanted seating area, haha.
The service was amazing. I have never really had this price-fixed meal concept before except during restaurant week (I'm ashamed to even admit I've been a part of that), but it works so well, especially combined with being BYOB! You get to enjoy eating out, but you really only have a few interactions with your server to initially get your order and take up/put down dishes here and there. There's no need for them to check if you need another round of drinks, no need to keep the cocktail menu in case you want to change your mind later, and I've already chosen my dessert so no need to bring that menu later and wait around either. It was a really great experience for our first dinner out post-pandemic.
The food was also amazing, but they change the menu so I'm not sure what anyone else will get when they go! I ordered the beet panzanella appetizer, swordfish entree, and lemon poppyseed cake dessert. My husband ordered the shrimp appetizer, pasta entree (that one was originally my choice but the server informed us they subbed the squash for mushrooms that night and mushrooms don't like me as much as I like them so my husband and I traded entree orders), and chocolate cake thing for dessert. All of it was truly amazing - flavorful, different textures, the PERFECT portion sizes. We had difficulty after when we tried naming our favorites.
All in all, an amazing experience and a new favorite in the city. We'll be back!
Far and away the best - and our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. Food was superb, and exquisitely presented. Service lovely as always. We’ve been treating ourselves to Pumpkin for 17 years, and always can’t wait to be back. Many kudos to Chef Ian and Hilary.
