Founded by Tim Barclay, Stefania Evangelisti and Filippo Rosato, Purezza first opened its doors in Brighton in 2015, making it the first vegan pizzeria in the UK. Since then, Purezza has honed its craft, spending years in a food laboratory creating a plant-based mozzarella that tastes and melts just like dairy.
Today, Purezza presides over a growing number of restaurants and holds numerous awards including National Pizza of the Year and a leading award at the World Pizza Championships

As a non vegan I really enjoyed the cheese. Best garlic dip ever
Amazing pizza and drinks! We all really enjoyed it.
Probably the best restaurant I've ever found for people who also don't eat gluten, soya and/or nuts
Banging, as ever. Bit too much Christmas music for November mind.
Excellent service from friendly staff. Food was delicious with a great choice of pizzas.
Awesome and friendly place - I'm not vegan but really enjoyed the pizza, and the smoothies, will be going again
Brilliant! Great service and lovely restaurant and food
Amazing choice of pizzas with very tasty vegan cheese.
Great to find a place where my vegan gluten free daughter can eat everything on the menu, even though I'm not vegan I was impressed with the choice and really enjoyed the food. Service was very good, the staff knowledgeable and very friendly. Food arrived quickly. Good Covid 19 awareness.
A discretionary service charge (a little over 10% ) was added to the bill.
This review is from the perspective of a chef and self confessed pizza snob who's had experience working with Sourdough pizzas for a living. Purezza is at it's best when owning it's veganism, however it falls a little short in trying to emulate the textures and flavour of meaty ingredients. The meat substitutes were lacking in umami flavour and often had textures that were confusing rather than familiar. As a guilty consumer of all edible things, the vegan alternatives to meat on offer here are nowhere near enough to sway me to choose Purezza over the likes of Bosco, Berthas or Pizza Workshop. Personally I'd like to see more creativity on the menu with actual vegetable toppings and less of a simulation of eating meat. I'm aware there are people out there who miss eating meat so I completely understand that there is a target audience out there for this, I'm just giving my opinion as a chef and food lover that the meat alternatives, especially the N'duja (which there was way too much of), weren't as palatable as some imaginatively prepared and cooked vegetables could potentially be. That is the only negative I have to say about my experience at Purezza and is the only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars rather than 5. I feel compelled to mention at this point that I'm rating this 4/5 in comparison to all restaurants, vegan and non vegan alike. Onto the positives: The dough was on point, with a perfect texture and deep flavour. The service, drinks and most of the pizza toppings ( vegan cheese included, to my surprise) pleased the tastebuds and matched the high level of the brands reputation. Special mention to the Christmas Calzone, a must have if you'rer the festive period; It was easily the most delicious thing we tried on the menu. All in all, as a meat eater, I would return to Purezza in the future, but would opt for a pizza which embraced vegetables rather than one that was desperately trying to be meaty.
The staff here are so welcoming and incredibly polite, kind and professional. On this evening George was our star server, thank you George.
The food is always so fresh, beautifully prepared, cooked and presented.
This is great vegan food at a really reasonable price.
Fabulous pizzas, salads and smoothies... our second time (despite not living in Bristol). We are vegetarian and struggle with the idea of giving up dairy... especially cheese.
This restaurant proves us wrong.
They even flexed with no quibbles when we called to say we were delayed.
Very attentive, positive and friendly service and only reason it wasn't a 5 was slight glitch with remembering the right food for us - and it was speedily resolved and doggy bag for the (wonderful) olives provided very quickly.
Thank you - we will be back
We really enjoyed it excellent and great service thank you
Really enjoyed our pizzas. We had ‘the one with truffles’ and one with ‘pork’ really tasty and full of flavour.
the waiting staff were all friendly and it was a great vibe in general in there
Would happily visit again and recommend
Pizza is definitely a weakness in vegan cuisine, but Purezza may have cracked it. We were very happy with our food, especially with the freshness of the ingredients.
The only real downside would be on the service side: when we arrived it seemed like our booking didn’t actually exist, and throughout service was quite slow relative to how busy the restaurant was.
In general a definite recommend for vegans and a strong recommend for everyone else.
Amazing food, lovely staff and great atmosphere! Visited with family that aren’t vegan and they loved the food 👏👏
Delicious pizzas, very friendly service and a really cool ambience. I loved sitting in the booths near the kitchen, where we could watch the amazing dishes being prepared. The staff were attentive and accommodating, especially when we decided to take home a doggy bag for later!
The food was very disappointing. We had a pizza and a calzone and it felt that we basically eat dough, since the fillings were very scarce and kind of pickled, which was a surprise. The edge of half of the pizza was burnt, the plant-based cheese was not pleasant. The white wine wasn't cold enough. The music too loud.
Apart from the lovely staff, the whole experience was very disappointing
First time we had been to the restaurant after months of ordering on delivery services and was definitely worth it!
Food was great, wouldn’t even know it was vegan! Highly recommend the salted caramel brownie for dessert (best brownie I’ve ever had). Forgive me I don’t remember our servers name but he was lovely and very helpful and attentive. Not super keen on the smoothies - would’ve liked them to be sweeter but that is just personal preference. Will definitely be revisiting!
Excellent range of food choices, and extremely friendly staff.
Excellent service from George, delicious pizza, will be back again soon!
Had a wonderful evening here. Very clean, accommodating environment and super friendly and efficient staff
Great experience all round.
Everything was amazing! Service & Food was top quality!
We had two delicious pizzas and a great dessert - but the highlight was actually the service from our waitress, who was absolutely lovely.
Food amazing, waiting staff amazing, wait for food RIDICULOUS! Waited an hour and a quarter for a salad and pizza as the restaurant seems to be prioritising Deliveroo over restaurant on site customers and that was very annoying indeed. Even for drinks we waited almost half an hour.
My daughter who is a vegan selected this restaurant. We are so delighted that she did - absolutely fabulous.
Plus the staff are so welcoming and friendly- it was a real pleasure dining here. Definitely will be returning.
So good for vegans and non vegans. Plenty of delicious pizzas to choose from
The restaurant is clean, bright and comfortable.
The staff were all welcoming and immediately responded to our needs.
Max, our server was knowledgeable about the food and drink. If he did not know an answer to a question he went away to find it from a colleague. He was confident, polite, friendly and professional.
The food was delicious and served fresh.
The bill was very reasonable and the whole evening was enjoyable.
I highly recommend this restaurant whether you are vegan, plant based or just curious. The food is DELICIOUS.
We went there on a Saturday, and our booking was at 7.45, well..we were served our pizzas at 9.10. Everyone else in the restaurant was waiting for their pizzas, but we could see lots and lots of pizzas being collected by delivery drivers, which it was really frustrating. When the pizza arrived it was also incredibly small, I guess they were running out of dough.
The staff members tried their best to keep us "happy", but we were not even offered a discount or a drink/dessert to repair the issue.
The pizza's were bad, took an hour to get food meanwhile tons of pizzas going out on delivery, too bright and loud
Very good pizzas and friendly, professional service! Thank you, will return soon!
The pizza had no space or cheese. They were clearly understaffed but still taking takeaway orders.
We had a great night with lovely Max serving us! Delicious food and great service. Really enjoyed all the variety of vegan meat substitutes and the drinks too.
I’m not vegan but food was delicious
Lovely and friendly staff working at purezza and delicious food! Would 120% come again!
Delicious vegan food. Fantastic service. It was a pleasure.
Absolutely lovely evening - excellent service and the food was delicious.
This place is the best
The waitors are incredible.
Plant based at its best😄
We came for my girlfriends birthday, we have never been before. It was delicious. & max (the person who served us) was really nice & knew everything we asked & even gave my girlfriend a birthday brownie. It was really lovely & we will definitely go again when back in the area.
