Head chef Darren Broom's passion lies in producing food with an unmistakable sense of terroir. For Darren, provenance is not just the backstory to his ingredients, it’s everywhere in the look, feel and taste of his food.

We are keen to champion our own produce first and foremost, providing guests with a unique and ever-changing insight into the seasons. We work closely with the garden team to manage and maintain the garden and to deliver a programme of regeneration and sustainability.

    Fantastic meal at Pythouse Kitchen Garden last night. Gorgeous food and great hospitality. We purchased some goodies to take away with us from the shop. Unfortunately, it was too dark when we got there to appreciate the gardens so we will be returning. Our cocker spaniel thoroughly enjoyed the attention her go from the staff as well.

    Such an idyllic place for a special dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant has a relaxed and cosy feel with the most delicious set menu, every dish was incredible! The service was excellent and our dog was also made to feel welcome which added to the great experience. We loved it and would highly recommend Pythouse Kitchen Garden!

    Lovely quiet atmosphere- setting beautiful- food outstanding as was the service. A couple of the plates could have been warmer on a very cold night, but this aside we’d strongly recommend Pythouse.

    My go to restaurant. This long table event was fish based but the stand out components were the vegetable combinations. The fish was excellent but even as an avowed carnivore I would have been delighted with the vegetables alone. A great evening and my guests could not praise it enough on the drive home

    Incredible welcome and first rate service throughout. Lovely set up! Every single course was outstanding, with the mysterious XO garden sauce being a particular triumph. Friendly fellow diners - but that’s no wonder as we were all being spoiled with the perfect balance of warmth, flavour and nutrients. We brought a well behaved dog who was treated equally well. The setting was calm despite two largish parties nearby. The team clearly know what they are doing! Looking forward to returning soon.

    I was a bit disappointed. Pythouse Kitchen had previously cancelled our booking (we planned to take my in-laws) as they said they had a wedding and open table shouldn’t have accepted the booking. I then (with about four days notice) had to find a new restaurant on the weekend. The manager asked me to let them know when we would be coming next so they could ‘spoil’ us… I made the booking and then called to let them know what was said and they said they would add it to our notes. We arrived and were told we were early (table was booked for 2pm and we arrived at about 1.50pm.) You don’t expect guests to still be sat at your table up until 1.59pm!! We then had an uncomfortable wait for our table as there is nowhere to sit or wait until your table becomes free. As we had travelled for around 45-50 minutes to get there, you can’t always plan your arrival for dead on 2pm. No attempt was made to make it up the previous blunder to us, given that they had previously cancelled our booking at such late notice, which was hugely disappointing. Why bother telling a customer this if no attempt is made to apologise? The roast potatoes need some work. Apart from this the food was nice. This could be such a gem, but service is a little disappointing as there is evidently no continuity and no-one is reading the notes. Plus they definitely need a waiting area for guests if tables will be busy right up until the next booking…

    I was unaware that having arrived for Sunday lunch if one of the party wanted the vegetarian option it needed to be pre ordered - nowhere is this mentioned- but the vegetarian option is on the menu- we were asked about dietary requirements but don’t think that really covers if you want the vegetarian option please pre order it .

    This was a flawless dining experience! All the staff were most attentive and we even had a birthday card for my wife on the table. I could not fault a single aspect of this and can’t wait to eat out here again! Cannot recommend highly enough.

    This is our umpteenth visit to Pythouse kitchen gardens, and again it did not disappoint. The food was divine with many tastes and combinations to enjoy. The staff were warm and welcoming and as always upliftingly dog friendly. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

    What a wonderful 3 course lunch. Delicious and different. Lovely location. Conservatory set up beautifully, lots of character and lovely touches like rugs over each chair. We really appreciated our anniversary card signed by all the staff Thr staff are so welcoming and charming, really friendly amd they take time to explain the menu.the food delivery and their ethos. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We will certainly return soon

    We brought friends here for Sunday lunch. There was a private party of 50 + at the same time in the outside seating area which I hadn't been made aware of when booking. Is there some way that could be flagged up when making a booking? We were indoors on a very hot day. We had hoped to be outside. This wasn't possible because of the party. The noise in the 'conservatory' where we were seated was really bad when we first arrived with another large party of about 12 right next to us, and a similar party in the opposite corner. Everyone seemed to be shouting. Not sure if that is something to do with the acoustics or just that diners were actually very loud. Luckily, within 40 minutes or so they had finished and left. Drinks were delicious, 3 of us wanted venison which we were then told wasn't available. Very disappointing. Not handled brilliantly by the waitress. Food when it was served was also delicious. Imaginative menu and lots of lovely flavours, colour and texture. Staff are appropriately attentive and all very pleasant and personable. A great experience usually but on this occasion we were not so lucky.

    Always good but the only downside is my wife got stung by a wasp this time and I did back in August. We know they are important in the biosphere but it’s put us off ever coming again in Summer/early Autumn

    The setting in the conservatory was lovely and we had already enjoyed a walk around the garden seeing where some of the produce came from. The service was attentive and friendly and the food was absolutely delicious with most unusual accompaniments to the main dish. Also good value for money - we shall definitely be going again!
