Pythouse Kitchen Garden
We had an absolutely superb lunch. Couldn’t fault it. Quality food, very reasonable price and excellent value for children (who LOVED the sausages!). Would highly recommend.
A great treat to eat out for the first time in six months and in such perfect surroundings! A simple, tastey menu of fresh produce, served imaginatively. The staff were all delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Perhaps a little pricey but we loved it!
We absolutely loved the set-up, ambiance not to mention the food!!! Absolutely amazing, so fresh, generous portions and very good value for money, great service, nice and friendly.
The Chocolate Mousse was delicious and I don't even like chocolate desserts.
We will definitely go back should we be in the area for a holiday.
Absolutely love this place and the food was delicious - thanks Pythouse
Friendly, attentive service in a delightful setting. Delicious food beautifully presented with care taken over every detail.
If it’s busy probably best to order your coffee at the same time as the dessert, as you might have to wait a bit longer than you’d like!
A lovely welcoming place to go for Sunday lunch with children and dogs!
Beautifully unique dining setting with very friendly staff. Food was good but for this price my experience is generally higher quality, specifically the salad was very average. Although staff were always friendly, we did not have undivided attention. Worth noting it was a sunny Saturday, however we did spend a good bit of time having to get someone’s attention. I would recommend the experience because of the setting, garden etc. however I would hesitate to return myself due to the food specifically.
Lovely setting & food
Well worth the effort to find it
Good to be back at PKG! Great meal as always. Server could have been a little more attentive or paid attention a little more..missing spoons, not hanging around long enough to get both our drink orders etc but wasn’t a problem at all really!
The menu was totally different from that advertised when booking on open table. Booking was difficult and had to phone, couldn’t get anyone, but they later called back. Service was slow.. order was wrong.. when it came second time were assured it was now correct, but when I asked the man serving to talk us through it, at least three of the ‘includes all of these’ items were missing!! Had to get order re sent a third time. Even then was wrong but so hungry gave up . All I wanted was the Gardeners box menu but without the sourdough.. and the smoked Aubergine dish.... for such a simple scaled back menu, and very simple order this was all very disappointing. Have dined here numerous times before, but sadly may well not do so again. And I do not think one menu should draw people in and then a completely different one be presented on arrival. Finally, little sign of social distancing etc and had to keep leaving table to go and find staff, water, glasses, etc didn’t even get offer of any goodwill gesture despite the whole thing being a real shambles... hence the bad revue
Expected so much more following previous visits. Service Presently severely lacking. Food orders on new menu confusing and ultimately confused by waitress and kitchen. Lengthy waits. Rude bearded wine waiter. Food was delicious when we received the entirety of order.seems not up to usual standard at present re staffing and hosting.
Good to speak to you just now Julia and thank you for your honest review. We are of course doing our best to bring standards of service back to where they should be following our long enforced closure. Hope to see you again soon. All the best, Piers
Great lunch. Delicious food. Worked well with children.
Had the most fabulous lunch outside in the garden. The service was really good and the food was delicious. Would most definitely recommend.
Had the most perfect afternoon and lunch at the Pythouse. The food was so lovely, gorgeous gardens and staff were great! Will definitely come again!
Delicious food picked from the garden, juiciest prawns cooked on the fire pit and a stunning setting outside but with plenty of shade.
Super lunch. Delicious food. Very attentive staff. All social distancing compliant. Good wholesome fun!
What a location - amazing. The food was fantastic, nice choice and well prepared with the lovely gardeners box of salad. Even in the current 'times' this was a fantastic Saturday evening out.
The walled garden is worth a stroll around between courses and to prepare you for desert, or another glass of wine. Fantastic.
It was a shame about the weather, but PYT House Kitchen Garden is a wonderful place to visit. The food and ambience was very good. I look forward to the next time in sunnier conditions.
A brilliant and delicious scaled-back menu, incredibly friendly staff and gorgeous surroundings. A lovely evening all round.
This beautiful place deserves recognition always made welcome with beautiful surroundings excellent service and delicious inventive menus and quality ingredients this is definitely my go to place if I want an uplifting delicious experience the whole place has an air of specialness and charm without being pretentious we just love Pythouse kitchen and gardens especially the fire pit suppers
Piers and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. The food was delicious and the gardens are lovely.
Fantastic fresh food and atmosphere in beautiful and peaceful surroundings whether in conservatory area or under marquee. Lots of space between tables and fast, friendly service. Thank you!
The Pythouse was the first time we had eaten out since Lockdown began in March and it was a delightful experience. Great food, friendly helpful staff and we will certainly be going back. We did enjoy their 'take out' meals during lockdown, delivered to the house with all instructions.
This is the second time we have eaten here this week, we were guests on Sunday which was our first visit - absolutely wonderful to be able to sit outside in the lovely surroundings and have such a good experience of normality after many months of not doing anything. Hopefully we will be back soon Well done to all the staff for making my birthday treats so so special.
Beware of the Open Table booking system, we booked a outdoor table, but when we arrived were advised that we did not have an outdoor table as they had already been booked through Open table.
Luckily after much discussion the owner managed to find us a table, other than the initial problems the meal itself and setting was fantastic.
If in doubt I would recommend that you ring direct and book if you require a certain type of table, the online booking service system is not to be trusted.
We were greeted by friendly staff and then the excellent service continued throughout the meal. The setting was beautiful and the food was delicious and excellent value for money. I would come back here again in a heart beat.
The garden box salad was disappointing - didn't seem to relate to the menu. The staff were charming and friendly but the service was slow - maybe they are finding their feet after re-opening.
Lovely setting & staff, the menu is quite simple but delicious flavours, good to be able to sit in a covered area outside so there is lots of space between tables
Fantastic service and what a great place
We will be back
And thank you again
Really enjoyable as always, thank you.
Attractive outdoor eating experience. Lovely large gazebo with well spaced tables, nice lights and flowers. Good choice of food from their outside bbq accompanied by a garden box of vegetables and grains. All the staff very welcoming and cheerful. It was a lovely evening out, the first since lockdown.
Totally delicious lunch from the fire in the tent.
Our first meal out following my self isolation and a worthy celebration. The Pythouse was as welcoming as ever and our table in the marquee was perfect for a sunny summer evening.
The menu was, as we have come to expect, inventive, well balanced, attractively presented and delicious. The wine choice proved a perfect accompaniment
Rugs were available as the evening cooled. A perfect occasion.
Wonderful setting and gardens. Food is exceptionally delicious and fresh
Beautiful little oasis, lovely food and staff..perfect lunch with friends on sunday !
Beautiful setting, great food and excellent service. I baulk at the price though - there’s no children’s menu and because we had to pre book I had no idea that the portion sizes would be so big. So for the four of us - two adults, two children, plus two diet cokes and service - the bill came to £105, £22.50 a head each for food. Not great when the children’s desserts were just tubs of ice cream out of the freezer. I mean we would definitely come back if they sorted out the transparency of their menus because this is the sort of business you’d like to support. I just think they should inform you when booking for children that they probably won’t eat an adult sized portion.
Hi - Thank you so much for coming and for the valued feedback. We're so sorry to read that the children were served grown up portions. Our post-covid preordering system is now a thing of the past thankfully. We are now offering a 'kids eat free' set menu - please see our website for the new children's menu. We really hope to see you again soon. PKG.
Simple, delicious, feel-good food, in a beautiful location. The open fire pit cooking gives melt in the mouth food - we had the steak and salmon - both to die for. The garden pot side orders were full of flavour, delicious to look at and filling, but really healthy. All fabulous.
Staff friendly, helpful, attentive. Gorgeous evening.
Amazing quality fresh food, excellent wines and a gorgeous setting , worth a visit ,
Very good experience, excellent food and value. Staff clearly learning the new routine in these post lock down days. Only one negative, the staff started by wearing face masks but soon took them off i think they should keep them on.
Great location and fantastic food cooked over a wooden fire, the chicken, Salmon were all freshly cooked in front of us and the salad, picked from the garden that morning apparently were incredibly tasty and seemed never ending. Add Gooseberry fool and lemon meringue for pudding and what's not to love.
On top of all this it felt safe. Temperature taken on arrival, contact details collected and sanitizer at every turn. The staff were great. Well done and thanks.
We will be back very soon and may even do the Glamping next time.
Well worth the effort
Brilliant Sunday lunch
Can’t wait to go back in the summer
