Pythouse Kitchen Garden
We visited for plunder the pantry. Great value as we took our own wine. The food and service was excellent. Really a lovely dining experience in magical surroundings .
Took my friend for a birthday breakfast all super lovely and fresh and a toasty warm fire
Lovely quirky place. Shabby chic but tastefully done. Nicely spaced tables and relaxed feel. Lovely roast chicken and bread sauce.
Beautiful restaurant, incredibly attentive and friendly staff. The food was also delicious- would visit again if in the area for sure!
We went for the music by candlelight night, and the food was great, and the music even better.
A warm and cosy atmosphere. Stephen gave a ya warm welcome, took us to our table and took drink orders promptly.
He went through the dietary notes we advised of on booking and the alternative was great.
Fantastic food and service. I like that the fresh produce is mainly procured from the extensive garden.
This evening made such a refreshing change for just dining out.
We will be watching for the next event. Highly recommend a visit here.
The evening was delightful. The entertainment was top notch and perfectly spaced before each course. A most enjoyable and relaxing evening thank you.
Lovely breakfast in wonderful peaceful setting.
The place is beautiful. A real gem in the middle of beautiful villages. It was a miserable day but it was cosy , the food was bloomin gorgeous, best mussels I’ve had for years. Everything was on point. I’ll definitely be going back in the summer for the pytfire BBQ.
Lovely Sunday lunch as usual
Terrific food and a lovely relaxed ambience. The staff were extremely attentive without being too noticeable. We had Pork and Beef mains and then followed up with Cheese to finish, all were absolutely beautiful. We would heartily recommend the Pythouse to anyone.
Was so nice to read such an unusual menu where everything sounded so delicious and indeed our food was delicious! Great location and ambiance - will be back when we next have a special occasion
Excellent - just wish it was closer! we'll still return
As welcoming and relaxing as ever. Stunning local produce - I love being able see where the food that I am enjoying is grown. Beautiful cooking.
Lovely lunch with super efficient and friendly service
we will be back in the summer
Happy New Year
None of the information I had left on the opentable website had reached the staff at Pythouse.
So I had to phone them, the day before and repeat it all. By then, it was too late to order a birthday cake.
I had booked two weeks in advance for precisely this reason. But it did not work.
Food was excellent as always. Tickets were forgotten to be given to the kitchen and so food was slow. A round of drink was given free of charge due to this
Great - as always! Thanks very much for a fab unstressful post Christmas family lunch!
Roast was absolutely delicious. Sadly puddings were all disappointing
A beautiful location with a great choice of dishes on the menu. A perfect way to while away a few hours!
Faultless food from a kitchen that clearly loves to use the garden. Wonderful ethos behind the restaurant and the kind of decor that makes you want to stay all day. Great service with a smile even on a busy day. Thanks PKG team, we will be back as soon as possible!
This is one of my very favourite restaurants. On my last visit I ordered the roasted hake with cauliflower textures - it was superb. The ambience and service are superb, great value for the money and good to feel that the ingredients have been sourced locally. I shall be back again soon.
An absolute gem of a place, and the food was excellent. We are looking forward to coming back in the summer when I think the view across the garden will be delightful.
Excellent Sunday lunch with plenty of choice and delicious food. Couldnt fault the quality at all and plenty of it plus extra vegetables. The only slight downfall is the second sitting hard on your heels so arrive early but that's a small price to pay!
Fabulous, as always. The food is just delicious and the service friendly and attentive. Always happy to accommodate those with alternative food requirements with an equally delicious meal.
A large Christmas party was taking place and clearly they were unable to cope. Our food took an hour to arrive and even a refrigerated pudding then took over 15 mins
The food is delicious but I recommend ringing ahead to see if they are busy before you decide to go. A simple two course lunch took over 2 hours
So disappointing my experience there was embarrassing as i had taken friends with me.
Back in August we went as a family and things were not great but thinking it was just an unfortunate one off , dared to give it another go, for which I have written a review on trip advisor.
In a not shell it was dreadful, and the waiter chose to brush off our critique at the time , simply replying”” it’s not going very well is it”
We paid in full, but will not be returning!
A great Christmas Turkey Dinner with a lovely Christmas pudding and home made ice cream to top it all off. Well done!!
We had a delicious meal - in season, from the garden or local. Great service and can thoroughly recommend.
We went on a "plunder the pantry" night so set menu, it was all delicious and the staff were very knowledgeable as well as attentive.
Set in the glorious kitchen gardens. Warm, welcoming and very beautiful. Only one criticism, one of our dishes was not that great. The wood pigeon and charred broccoli. The pigeon was really quite tough and the broccoli charts but dry and raw. The moules were delicious as was the leek risotto. Highly recommend
We booked lunch on a grey November day. This was my first visit to the Kitchen. It is set in an old walled garden and they clearly take pride in growing as much for the table as they can. The garden (even in November) was delightful and the interior of the restaurant is shabby chic relaxed. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, I had a delicious soup, an artichoke risotto and a bottle of cider. All quite modest fare but it was beautifully cooked and served. Well done Kitchen Garden
A really unique place with a lovely ambience, attentive staff and delicious food..we will return!
Lovely ambiance: very efficient and polite staff. Interesting and limited menu which means everything is freshly cooked and served with a smile.
We s all Loved it
Very good! Potentially a little too busy though? Our table seemed a little squeezed in
Couldn’t fault a thing! Service was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. From the cocktail to the coffee, our experience of the sustainable approach to local food and drinks was the best that I have experienced. Seasonal food and locally sourced meat and ingredients was impressive. I will be returning and recommending to family and friends.
My wife had venison cottage pie which she thought was too bland in flavour; could have had a richer gravy. My main was perhaps a little lacking in quantity.
When booking (online) I was asked what was the occasion, and I replied birthday. I thought perhaps that a candle or something celebratory would have been provided, otherwise what is the point of asking the reason for visit.
However, the ambience and service was excellent.
We’re local and often call in for coffee or tea but decided to try PHKG a try for dinner on a Saturday night.
The menu is quite short but varied and the food was delicious. The service was the perfect balance of friendly but intrusive. Great wine list too.
Definitely one to recommend.
Lovely meal. Very attentive staff. We had a great lunch, thank you!
Great food, beautifully presented and it's great that ingredients come fresh from the kitchen garden where possible.
