Pythouse Kitchen Garden
Head chef Darren Broom's passion lies in producing food with an unmistakable sense of terroir. For Darren, provenance is not just the backstory to his ingredients, it’s everywhere in the look, feel and taste of his food.
We are keen to champion our own produce first and foremost, providing guests with a unique and ever-changing insight into the seasons. We work closely with the garden team to manage and maintain the garden and to deliver a programme of regeneration and sustainability.

Food was amazing, service fantastic and the ambience decor perfect!
Really lovely lunch had by all of us. Food was great as was the service. We have been before but the couple who joined us loved it and said they’ll definitely be back too.
We had such a brilliant experience for our first visit to Pythouse Kitchen Garden. The food was exceptional and the staff were all really friendly, helpful and on point with their service.
Seriously, the food from the autumn menu was absolutely incredible. We were blown away!
And the venue was gorgeous. Couldn't ask for more!
Really look forward to visiting again!
Delicious seasonal food that tasted utterly divine! Loved the feel of the restaurant too. We had a wonderful evening, thank you
Just love this place. Ideal for meeting friends for lunch and taking a stroll around the garden. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with fabulous food.
Perfect food, great staff. Lovely ambience. Wood burner can be smoky in the conservatory but I loved it. Oh and dont forget to book in advance to avoid disappointment. X
Amazing food, meat and veg cooked to perfection. We ate in the new garden room which was a little chilly but blankets are provided.
Imaginative, excellent food in a wonderful rural setting. Covid precautions well thought out.
Rustic chic ambience, so beautifully designed. Food is incredible - taste and presentation. Fresh ingredients from the garden, and the restaurant is situated in a stunning location. Amazing shop too with delicious bits to take home - we took things like marmalade gin, bonfire toffee amongst other things :)
An absolutely stunning way to finish a wonderful weekend! The food, ambience & service were excellent! The food was better than excellent, actually. VERY HIGHLY recommend the Pythouse Kitchen Garden!! - if you go, have a wander around the gardens...! Beautiful!
Been here a few times, lovely place to go for either a quiet meal for 2 or with a few friends. Food is lovely every time. Walking around the garden is also an interesting experience. The girl that served us was very knowledgeable on the new menu and answered our questions promptly. Will definitely go back.
Lovely informal, countryside setting. The restaurant has a brilliant selection of dishes that is was difficult to choose from! Each was divine. Locally sourced fresh ingredients cooked over the open fire. Simple but effective. The staff were efficient and good humoured too. Very pleasant evening.
Absolutely delicious food. All so fresh and beautifully cooked and presented. We shared lots of plates between the four of us which was a great way to enjoy so many different dishes on the menu. The ember baked squash was a huge hit, as was the halloumi.
The staff were very attentive and friendly and it was all very 'Covid-safe'.
We will definitely come back and spend more time exploring the garden.
First time and I will be back. Love it. Thank you!
Interesting and tasty Autumn menu. Sharing nibbles to start, Pork belly cooked to perfection, with the most delicious side dishes (3 of us shared 3 different ones). It isn't often I can say that I could have chosen all the dishes on a menu. Portion size perfect as enough room to have the hazelnut tart.
Service 10 out of 10, friendly and warm atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Absolutely delicious lunch. Interesting and tasty not a potato or boiled rice in sight. Gorgeous venue. Lovely gardens. Fantastic service.
Balance of menu could be better with some vegetables included with main courses. Hazelnut tart was a cake. Food well cooked and tasty and service very good. Spoke to restaurant manager who was sympathetic and noted comments.
Not our first time at The Pythouse and it will definitely not be our last. I soooo wanted to give you 5 stars especially as the food for us was superb. Portion, selection, quality and above all, taste, ticked the boxes.
A delightful young lady served us. However, asking the young waiter (pony tail) for a bottle of tap water which never came and a second glass of wine which did not come either, until we asked our young lady, was a tad frustrating.
Service is key, if staff say 'yes' to anything, they must have the ability to remember!
We felt for you when the Wifi did not work and were impressed that you were prepared to take a telephone number to call us the next day for payment - you and I were both surprised when my husband dipped into his pocket and pulled out cash - never seen before haha!
My review is intended to help The Pythouse; to anyone else reading - please go, it is excellent
Very good food, seasonal, creative and delicious. Really lovely relaxed atmosphere. A spoiling treat but relaxed enough to take our three young children along too.
Really delicious seasonal food & beautiful surroundings and restaurant
The menu was rather limited by having 2 pork dishes. One of the pork dishes was a casserole with chickpeas. It was mainly chickpeas, with very little pork. There was one beef dish on the menu, and there was only one portion left of that. No alternative was offered.
The salads arrive plated together and it is difficult to separate the cauliflower rice dish from the spelt dish, except by taste, which is a bit of a problem if you don't enjoy horseradish.
Finally, it was a great surprise for one of our number to just be handed a tub of icecream for her dessert. No plate, no small spoon, no flourish. Desserts overall were not up to expectations
Overall, disappointing after previous visits.
The food was good - the garden experience was far too much and in fact just the fire pit was plenty. Hate to see waste so perhaps smaller portions if that is ordered as a side dish to the main course.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Pythouse last week, the flavours were amazing!
A selection of what is seasonal, freshly picked from the beautiful walled garden with a choice of additions from the open air grill. Very well set up for the times we find ourselves in at the moment, with dining indoors, or outside under a marquee. Very professional and friendly staff. The jams and chocolate we took home were also very lovely.
We had a lovely meal . Great service - very friendly and helpful staff . The buildings are lovely .. a great atmosphere . Would recommend and come again
Really loved the food and approach. I would have liked the option to sit inside as the acoustics next to small children wasn’t enjoyable and dogs roaming about. The food and wine was delicious. The staff were really helpful.
What a gorgeous setting! Wow. Lovely attentive service and generous portions of thoughtful, seasonal dishes. Book your high chairs in advance - they haven’t got many!
Beautiful setting with lovely food. We really enjoyed our time at Pythouse.
Lovely setting for a incredibly fantastic seasonal menu straight from the source. The outside restaurant was well decorated and cosy with a conversation enabling environment.
Will definitely be visiting again, hopefully soon!
Delicious food in beautiful surroundings. So much better than the Newt.
Had a delicious meal in the covered outdoor area, such a relaxing ambience and the food is superb and excellent value. Very good arrangement of COVID measures that in no way detracted from our meal. Thank you
Unusual environment but great ambience. Quality ingredients consistent standards of service, food preparation provided by friendly attentive staff
Innovative and creative use of ingredients grown in the garden.
On a beautiful sunny day, Pythouse Kitchen is the perfect place to be. Amazing food, stunning surroundings and great service. What more could we ask? Fantastic.
Fantastic food & service, we were a group of 6 and we stayed all afternoon, we all had a brilliant time and felt very safe re the Covid measures in place. Thank you all very much!
All was delicious! We had each of their main options and all were delicious.
Great food in very airy summer ambience plenty of space between tables.
It was our first restaurant meal out in 6 months, and what a great choice. We've been several times before and despite the hygiene precautions it was a really nice and relaxed evening out. Great food and location ambience, reasonable price, and always friendly and enthusiastic service. If you haven't been, I strongly recommend you go!
Lovely setting , healthy tasty food.
Looking forward to next visit.
The staff were so pleasant. There is a super cute shop with loads of jams and oils and stuff to buy.
Delicious lunch and lovely garden and plenty of space. The loos need a bit of help! Otherwise fabulous x
Tented restaurant outside and socially distanced. Vegetables were from the garden and tasty. Unique atmosphere in that this is all found in a huge traditional kitchen garden. Great.
