Located on the Eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales, The Queens Head, in the delightful village of Finghall, dates back to the late Seventeenth Century. Full of Character and charm the inn provides a cosy, warm welcome, high quality comfortable accommodation and freshly produced food using the best of local ingredients. Your hosts, Helen and Ian, and their team offer many years of combined experience in the hospitality industry, both in pubs and hotels. They took on the closed pub back in 2009 as a lease, and bought the freehold in 2012, and since then have strived to continually enhance the property and realise the potential of the site. It’s not finished yet but, when you look for ongoing improvement all the time, it probably never will be.

Fantastic food! Our only two 'niggles' were the awful jazz music we had to endure during our meal, and being seated on the most unstable round table I've ever known, right next to the only other diners in the restaurant. You very kindly moved us though, so thank you!

A good varied menu, however, portion sizes were a bit too large for us. Quality was good though.

Most of us went for the two course option at £16 which is good value. To be honest, the mains were great but the puddings just lacked that finishing touch. Creme brulee would benefit from a simple shortbread biscuit rather than icecream, just to add texture. The dark chocolate barvois was pretty dull in flavour but looked ok. Again a little shortbread biscuit wouldn't have been a bad idea!? Quite drafty by our table under the window.

A really good holiday find from a recommendation. The food was good quality and very hot, which doesn't always happen. The desert was to die for.

A very good meal indeed, it has been recommended by a few people that we know and have been meaning to try for some time and was not disappointed. Good service, excellently cooked lamb for our main, and the wine is very respectably priced. Will see us there again.

Friendly, cosy and characterful. We were made to feel welcome and the service was good. We all chose fresh fish for our main course and could then select how we would like it to be served. This was a bit of a novelty so we all chose something different. Everyone was happy with their choices and we accompanied our meal with a nice bottle of Albariño. Would recommend.

Fantastic food that can be described as pub food but done to another level. Second time of visiting and food was as delicious as it was when we came a year ago. Well worth the trip if you’re staying in the Dales.

A good evening, with good food. Price very reasonable. Last ones in but still not rushed. Lighting in restaurant is a bit bright, but it’s better than eating in the bar

We ate at the Queen's Head during our week long holiday in Yorkshire and it was excellent! Lovely quiet country pub, delicious food and friendly service. Easily the best meal of the whole holiday - we all had something different and all really enjoyed our main course and dessert. The pub was quiet and friendly, just perfect and exactly what we wanted.

Our second visit, and not disappointed. Had the Tuesday tapas menu. All the dishes were excellent, very tasty. Took £10 drink credit instead of wine as one driving.
Lovely pub, friendly staff. Forewarned by phone may be slight delay as large party booking in. Wasn't really an issue at all.
Well worth a visit!

My wife and I ordered the steak and kidney pie and it came with cauliflower, green beans, carrots and chunky chips. It was lovely. We followed this with the plum crumble and ice cream. Again this was beautiful. Strongly recommend.

Booked to take sister and brother-in-law to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary. We are researching the family tree and have found an ancestor living in Finghall in 1586 and wanted to visit the area to see the ancient Church of St. Andrew. We thoroughly enjoyed having lunch at the Queens Head and look forward to our next visit.

Overall a very nice country pub/restaurant. Only criticism, the dining room would benefit from a makeover- felt a bit 70’s
Apparently the views from the dining room and gardens are fabulous - we will return to enjoy 👍🏼

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Struggled to choose from the good menu, but settled on salmon with chive butter sauce. Absolutely delicious, as was the starter and dessert.
Generous portions at a reasonable price, served by friendly staff in pleasant surroundings. Thoroughly recommend.

Very poor dining experience. From cold drinks served lukewarm, to making our guests hugely uncomfortable, terrible food and service a total disaster. Tapas was vile other than cold meats and cheese. Parts of courses missing, kids meals served last, not even given the menus to select from. Totally ruined our special occasion. They knocked did give free desserts but too little too late. Such a shame as we had such high hopes.

We have been to Fingall on a few occasions and always had a good meal.
We did find the lady working behind the bar a bit abrasive with none of the usual pleasantries.
The dining room is quite large with a lovely view over the surrounding countryside.
It was a particularly hot evening and the dining room was stifling hot but all the doors which lead on to the outside decked area were closed we were told we could open them but there would be then be a problem of flies coming into the restaurant. Maybe fly screens could be the answer!
There is a good selection of starters, mains and puds and good use of locally sourced produce.
The meal was good although the dish of vegetables looked a bit limp. Chips were delicious.
Would we return? That’s a definitely hopefully the dining room will be a bit cooler.

Very pleasant Sunday meal for 4 on a beautiful day with spectacular views across the dale from the dining room. Meal very good and service very friendly and efficient. A very minor point, but one would expect toast or similar with the Duck Parfait, he probably should have asked but this wasn't mentioned until after they'd finished!
