Queen's Head Finghall
Friendly, cosy and characterful. We were made to feel welcome and the service was good. We all chose fresh fish for our main course and could then select how we would like it to be served. This was a bit of a novelty so we all chose something different. Everyone was happy with their choices and we accompanied our meal with a nice bottle of Albariño. Would recommend.
Brilliant hidden gem, food is delicious, had the roast beef and all the trimmings and it was amazing.Staff are very friendly, nothing too much trouble.Excellent views from the restaurant across the stunning North Yorkshire landscape.Highly recommend
We were visiting on holiday in the area. The place is absolutely gorgeous and the food was amazing. 2ish we lived closer, but will visit again when in the area. Keep up the good work, really enjoyable!
Fantastic food that can be described as pub food but done to another level. Second time of visiting and food was as delicious as it was when we came a year ago. Well worth the trip if you’re staying in the Dales.
A good evening, with good food. Price very reasonable. Last ones in but still not rushed. Lighting in restaurant is a bit bright, but it’s better than eating in the bar
Just the place to do for an excellent meal that is slightly out of the norm.
Good wholesome food with a friendly welcome, you won't go home Hungary 😁
What a gem! We came here on the last night of our holiday and were completely blown away by the whole experience. We will be coming back here and recommending it to EVERYONE!!! The food is absolutely outstanding.
We ate at the Queen's Head during our week long holiday in Yorkshire and it was excellent! Lovely quiet country pub, delicious food and friendly service. Easily the best meal of the whole holiday - we all had something different and all really enjoyed our main course and dessert. The pub was quiet and friendly, just perfect and exactly what we wanted.
Had lovely evening at the Queens Head. Good food in pleasant surroundings with excellent staff
Our second visit, and not disappointed. Had the Tuesday tapas menu. All the dishes were excellent, very tasty. Took £10 drink credit instead of wine as one driving.
Lovely pub, friendly staff. Forewarned by phone may be slight delay as large party booking in. Wasn't really an issue at all.
Well worth a visit!
Superb - great food great value. Massive portions. Service by the lovely staff was exceptional
Tapas were delicious and a very good and extensive list to choose from. 4 out of five were excellent
Excellent quality food, extensive menu including gluten free and vegetarian.Attentive and helpful staff all at a fair price.
Great staff, all really friendly and attentive. Lovely cosy traditional pub. Food was delicious and plenty of it. All topped off with a very reasonable priced bottle of wine.
Excellent Third visit and food and staff consistantly good The food if freshly cooked and presented well Can't fault it at all
A charming old fashion pub with extensions that showcase the fabulous views overlooking the valley. Very pleasant & attentive staff serving really nice food.
Excellent food and service.
I would definitely eat here again.
My wife and I ordered the steak and kidney pie and it came with cauliflower, green beans, carrots and chunky chips. It was lovely. We followed this with the plum crumble and ice cream. Again this was beautiful. Strongly recommend.
The Queens Head provides excellent value for money. The food is excellent as is the service.
Booked to take sister and brother-in-law to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary. We are researching the family tree and have found an ancestor living in Finghall in 1586 and wanted to visit the area to see the ancient Church of St. Andrew. We thoroughly enjoyed having lunch at the Queens Head and look forward to our next visit.
This is a lovely restaurant in a quiet village with excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. Happy to cater for special dietary requirements. Really good value. We will definitely go back again.
Excellent service throughout. Staff are very friendly, attentive and make for a very enjoyable experience.
Excellent service and good quality food with a good menu and very good value for money
Overall a very nice country pub/restaurant. Only criticism, the dining room would benefit from a makeover- felt a bit 70’s
Apparently the views from the dining room and gardens are fabulous - we will return to enjoy 👍🏼
We ate here whilst staying nearby.
Staff were very polite, friendly and courteous, the restaurant itself was very homely and cosy.
The food was delicious and plentiful. All in all a very nice and pleasant visit, we will definitely be returning.
Excellent food and very good service. Very good value for money. Would visit again if we are in the area.
Fabulous Sunday lunch. Struggled to choose from the good menu, but settled on salmon with chive butter sauce. Absolutely delicious, as was the starter and dessert.
Generous portions at a reasonable price, served by friendly staff in pleasant surroundings. Thoroughly recommend.
Very much enjoy our annual holiday visits here for Sunday lunch and also occasional evening food.
Very poor dining experience. From cold drinks served lukewarm, to making our guests hugely uncomfortable, terrible food and service a total disaster. Tapas was vile other than cold meats and cheese. Parts of courses missing, kids meals served last, not even given the menus to select from. Totally ruined our special occasion. They knocked did give free desserts but too little too late. Such a shame as we had such high hopes.
We have been to Fingall on a few occasions and always had a good meal.
We did find the lady working behind the bar a bit abrasive with none of the usual pleasantries.
The dining room is quite large with a lovely view over the surrounding countryside.
It was a particularly hot evening and the dining room was stifling hot but all the doors which lead on to the outside decked area were closed we were told we could open them but there would be then be a problem of flies coming into the restaurant. Maybe fly screens could be the answer!
There is a good selection of starters, mains and puds and good use of locally sourced produce.
The meal was good although the dish of vegetables looked a bit limp. Chips were delicious.
Would we return? That’s a definitely hopefully the dining room will be a bit cooler.
Very pleasant Sunday meal for 4 on a beautiful day with spectacular views across the dale from the dining room. Meal very good and service very friendly and efficient. A very minor point, but one would expect toast or similar with the Duck Parfait, he probably should have asked but this wasn't mentioned until after they'd finished!
We were very disappointed having been several times before and been pleased, even recommending it to friends. This time the food did not live up to expectations. The starters were awful, too dry, as if they had been kept warm, and unappetising and unattractive in their presentation. They were also far too big. The main courses were ridiculously big in every aspect, with far too many accompaniments. We were a party of five and none of us could finish even just the main element of fish or meat. The quantity of food was intimidating. Half the portions for the same price would not have been unreasonable especially if it had been better presented and if more thought had gone into balancing the various elements. We were far too full to attempt desserts or coffee etc. which was a shame.
The Queen's Head is an attractive local pub, less than 10 minutes drive from our home. Their is no immediate local competition and in the past it has been busy. This was a Saturday night but it was very quiet. We were hoping to impress our Australian and American visitors with some quality local cuisine but it failed. The public bar is very good and well stocked. We had no complaints on that score. The staff were also very efficient, welcoming and helpful. They listened to our comments and promised to feed it back to the kitchen who we hope will pay some attention as it would be a shame to lose a good local venue for the want of a bit of effort and attention to detail. A really good meal out is not about being stuffed, it makes you feel uncomfortable not just physically, but also because it feels wickedly wasteful to throw away so much food. Each course should look and taste exquisite and by the end of the meal you should not leave feeling uncomfortable, but have just enough room for a small chocolate.
Unfortunately I think we are unlikely to return in the near future.
Excellent fish menu. All the food was well cooked and delicious.
Beautiful location and views. Friendly staff. Delicious sunday lunch, the beef was so tender and plentiful. The menu from Mon - Sat looks amazing so we must return.
We have eaten at the Queen's Head many times both with friends and as part of a large group booking. The food and service is always excellent, and the beer is good too!
We have been to the Queens Head before and really enjoyed both our stay and meals. There is an extensive menu with special evenings, like taps Tuesday. My wife doesn't eat meat so the vegetatiran and fish courses give her a wide choice. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Stayed in dalesend cottages for 4 days and we eat at the queens head twice
Our first visit my husband ordered chicken in red wine sauce and fresh vegetables and I had fish and chips both meals was beautifully presented and delicious we enjoyed it so much we came back on our last night and again the food was excellent.
Well worth a visit if your in the area the service was friendly and the pub as a lovely cosy feel
It was very quiet when we were there I think there was only 2 tables with people on so very difficult to rate
