Expensive, quality not matching price.
Ambience was good as was service but food disappointing
The best Sunday roast we have had in a while. There are no doubt better more expensive restaurants in Oxford but Quod has managed to keep a very good standard and variety of food for a large restaurant at medium price. Not the the cheapest but the food was delicious for the price and size. Also super convenient and easy to get a table.
Lovely evening overall but overcharged for drinks which put a dampener on it. Food nice, decent portion size but not outstanding considering the price.
Starter: farinata was hard, chewy and salty; main: veg cassoulet was just endless pearl barley with lumps of veg; pudding: don't normally have dessert but didn't eat main - sticky toffee pudding - lush. Service was fine - didn't point out specials but friendly and efficient. Won't be back tho.
Great atmosphere and varied menu.
Very helpful staff
Our first visit to Quod and we will definitely be back. Gorgeous surroundings; a lovely waitress who immediately understood who were were and joined in on our family dynamic; and really delicious food. Went beyond expectations. Thank you for a very special evening.
I visit Quod every 6 weeks or so and it never disappoints. Fantastic food - I had the whole roast partridge which takes a bit longer to cook (as it’s whole) but was absolutely worth the wait. A really fantastic lunch. Thank you.
Great meal, service was excellent. Really enjoyed the cocktails and the restaurant had a great buzz.
Very nice food here and service. It also has nice decoration, highly recommended
Had the lunch time set menu which was very good value. Nice ambience and great location in the centre of Oxford
We had a wonderful lunch and were happy to see that the restaurant is following all Government guidance to help stop the spread. The food was excellent, as was the service. Highly recommend.
Favourite place in Oxford; just can't fault the staff and we have always eaten really well. Christmas lunch for us four ladies already booked!
Great place -atmosphere-value and service. Well worth going.
Delicious food, great service. Always a winner if you're after a special treat for your dining out. It's quite loud when full up so maybe not great for more elderly people.
Fabulous as ever, our go to in Oxford dinner or afternoon tea, a delight
A great selection of top quality dishes with exceptional service. Highly recommended
Lovely place, well managed, good menu selection, and quiet to allow a real conversation to be possible.
Quod is one of the best places to eat in the centre of Oxford. The quality of food is invariably good and the service very good.
Excellent food and imaginative menu. Go for the set lunch! Great value
The food was excellent and the staff polite and efficient. The only downsides were that some food came out cold (especially the broccoli which was beautifully cooked but lukewarm at most). The service was also slow even though the restaurant was empty. I suspect that’s down to staffing non this current moment because everyone was nice and seemed to be working hard.
I’d happily return.
It’s a great place and the atmosphere is great. Give them your money. We look forward to the next time we can do just that.
Generally a pleasant place to eat out. Food and ambiance was good. Service was a little slow when trying to order more drinks, which I think was linked to the restaurant being particularly busy. Servers where accommodating and friendly.
A great evening at Quod once again. Highly recommended for both the food and service.
My favourite restaurant in Oxford. Great food, atmosphere, service, wine...never rushed, gorgeous art all over the walls...couldn't recommend more highly.
We were bitterly disappointed with our visit to QUOD. The food suited our purposes as a family, incl 3 teens. The roasts were of a good standard: tender meat, tasty vegs, gravy etc. Our main concern was the lack of attention or care paid to us, by the “waiting” staff. From the outset, we were treated with a cool detachment by almost every member of the team, receiving hurried service & a lack of attention to detail.
The greeter welcomed a couple ahead of us, uttering “wait here” as she disappeared. Abrupt! She walked them to a nearby table, with another waiter (?) & then fussed over removing cutlery. Surely, only one staff member is needed for this? We were left standing around, waiting to be seated - I’d suggest seating both parties, & then attending to tableware, menus, etc would be a better choice. No smile, no welcoming courtesies, just simply “wait here”.
Thereafter, there was quibbling over our seating - a specific request had been made for table 406, or in the vicinity of; this was greeted with puzzled looks & an insistence we had asked for an outside table - not the case at all, & the ungracious manner with which the mix up was dealt did little to install any confidence in us, as a dining party.
Following this, there was a catalogue of minor mistakes: no reading back our order so that the specifics could be confirmed, no butter or oil delivered with the bread, an extra potion of rice brought to the table & again, an insistence that this was our error, one side order missing, no checking on us during our visit… we were simply left to our own devices & had to hail down any passing waiter/waitress to make our requests.
I’d like to say that these oversights were due to the restaurant being very busy: alas, our 11.45am booking meant that this was not the case. Lack of decent training/regard for diners’ feelings/knowledge that the service charge is added to every bill? A very lacklustre experience. We do not recommend QUOD at all.
Good menu, food was well-prepared and presented. It tasted good too! Service was attentive and reasonably brisk. Wine was somewhat over-priced but it tasted good. Open Table's pestering with constant emails from booking through to review was intrusive and annoying. Once I've booked, I really don't really need to be reminded EVERY DAY!
Lovely food, great service and brilliant atmosphere
Slightly overpriced food , but good menu, and the food was good.
Service was atrocious , most of the staff just did not seem to care - didn't know what was on the menu , didn't highlight the specials , basically gave the impression they would rather be elsewhere.
Atmosphere / decor good but won't be hurrying back.
We sat in the garden from 4 which was lovely and light, it got a bit chilly from 5.30, but we weren’t sat directly under a heater.
We all loved the afternoon tea and noticed how nice the other meals looked, so we would all love to go back when we are next in Oxford.
Lively atmosphere , a little noisy. Food good , always reliable, good choice
The meal we had was outstanding - service was very good although a little slow to start off with while we were trying to get drinks
Excellent meal and service. Decor was lovely. Ambience was great, live piano music which added to the atmosphere. Not cheap to eat or drink there but still worth it.
Great food and amazing location with kind service absolutely suggested
but it Needs more vegan options.
Cake could be improved (I had a chocolate pot)
They have done a great job with covering their terrace for external dining! I always enjoy their unusual art collection!
First visit, beautiful setting, beautiful food and efficient staff.
Excellent service and a nice place. Food was fine but not quite up to standard of neighbouring French places. Bit on the pricey side for what you’re getting.
The quality of food at lunch was outstanding. Tasty with subtle flavouring and interesting combinations of ingredients. The service was adequate but lacked warmth. Masks have an impact on such communications we realise - especially when waitresses do not speak English as a first language. The ambience outside is just lovely. Bright and airy but, thanks to the heaters, warm enough to eat there without a coat on. We look forward to our return.
Great place, good food and a very good ambience. High ceiling and hard furnishings make it a little noisy.
Very nice food and drink. Quick and friendly service.
One of the rare establishments in Oxford that will not disappoint or let you down in food quality, beverage selection on offer and service ( which is consistently impeccable). They have staff who takes pride in their job, great interesting people. Not expensive in view of what one receives in return. Good value. Optimum balance in all aspects. Ambience and location are undeniably perfect.
Great atmosphere and food, slow to get starters but generally all good
Thank you for your lovely review of your experience here at Quod. I will be sure to pass on your lovely feedback to the team who will be delighted to read it. I hope you'll visit again soon.
