Very nice but quiet ambience. Service impeccable and the waiter extremely funny and welcoming . Food was standard value for money more of a lunch date than special dinner
Do not be fooled into thinking that this is an Italian restaurant, when the head waitress could not find our booking she informed us that they dont check open table bookings any more, they did find the booking and set a table for us anyway, then we chose food from the set menu 2 courses for £16.95 each, when the bill came they had charged from the main menu, we had already paid the bill when this was discovered, we pointed out that we had chosen from the set menu they then set about trying to rectify there mistake, after fifteen minutes they finallt gave up say that accounts would fix this later and refund the difference to the card, guest relations manager then informed us we would be invited back for lunch because of the inconveinence caused(still waiting on that call)
No atmosphere but if you need good food this is It
Great decor and professional service. Very small portions served on early dining menu. Lots of scurrying about but still waiting for server quite often. Bill was hilariously wrong but we worked out an amount that was fair and didn’t worry about the exact items ordered. Pleasantly surprised by this hotel dining experience but would expect double the amount of food on starter and main for price paid.
This was a lovely find, a calm oasis in the madness that is the Edinburgh festival. The food was excellent and the service polite, efficient and accommodating. Dietary requirements were met without a moment's thought. It's not cheap, but worth it to get away from the hubbub
We are waiting our dishes about one our (includes chicken from children’s menu). Beef was not amazing
Very nice choice, particularly of you are staying at the Radisson.
Exceedingly unprofessional service, slow and unattentive, unstructured and uncoordinated. One eaiter blaming the other. We were promised such poor service would never happen again. But this was not a question of a one off. Only about 12 guests for two waiters, so not busy. Just lack of capability. Two guests left immediately when tealising the slownss, two others left after the first course. This is not sustainable. Good food by the way!!
The very best thing about this visit was the service - it was excellent. The menu was a bit limited in scope and the dishes were flavoursome but overall a bit disappointing: there id not seem to be much there on the plate.
The bill did not tell me that this was good value for money - in my opinion, slightly overpriced - especially the wine: £8 for a glass of wine is a bit steep - but then I did choose that. Ambiance was good because the restaurant was quite quiet and we had a lot to talk about. However, no attention was given to my request for a quieter table.
May well go back - but not for a while.
On arrival had to ask bar staff 3 times where the restaurant was.
Waiter gave us the set lunch menu at 7pm had to ask for larger evening menu.
My wife's pasta dish was cold.
Wine selection could have been broader.
Dark no ambience
Walked 20 min to the restaurant and were informed upon our arrival that the kitchen “didn’t have any gas” and therefore all bookings had been cancelled. Not sure why this would not be conveyed to guests ahead of time when they have our contact information. Turning people away on a busy Sat night, expecting them to find another restaurant at the last minute is absolutely unacceptable. It took us over an hour to find another place that could seat our party.
Pleasant experience they were very considerate of my 3yrs old! Great food.
We ordered from the set lunch menu with wine pairing and after lovely starter and wine unfortunately then waited almost an hour for mains. The beef dish which arrived was dried out to the point of being inedible and had to be returned. The waiter responded well by apologising and taking the wine package off our bill but unfortunately our meal was already a huge disappointment.
The portions of the main dishes were really small and food in general were not so good as expected from reviews. The sticky pudding was really good as a dessert.
Very nice dining experience. Friendly staff. Menu was good.
Lovely stylish pre theatre supper. Small but delicious menu. Served with care and knowledge. Delicious food and excellent wine choice.
Food was ok nothing special. Timing of courses could be better as well as matching the menu to the delivered dishes. Friendly service.
gorgeous food, lovely staff very attentive and wine selection was marvelous 👌 10/10 would go again
Had a lovely evening in a fabulous setting. The staff were very attentive and the food was amazing.
I took my wife here for her birthday whilst on holiday. The food was exceptional although it was slightly over priced. Staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous. Would highly recommend it to my friends.
Always great! Good food good friends, best service. Clean atmosphere and good environment.
Dinner during vacation
Good Italian restaurant in the G&V Hotel. Crazy decor but tasty food.
Hidden away in the G&V hotel, this wasn't an easy place to find. At first sight, I wasn't impressed by the 'canteen style' seating, but had all my fears immediately dispelled as soon as the waiter arrived. The menu was imaginative and the food excellent. The wine list was extensive but also included a good range of wines by the glass. The waiter was highly knowledgable about the menu and the way in which the food was cooked. I certainly plan to go back.
Beautiful menu and food. Good service. Wine list lovely but expensive. Overall great but sad to see such a lovely restaurant so quiet.
Great staff attentive .Gorgeous seafood linguine and soave.
Absolutely top notch food, wines and service. Highly recommend it.
Lovely food and the best service.
Great dinner as usual! We all love your fried zucchini. And what about your bread with olive oil ? Delicious
4 of us had dinner on Saturday before the late night tattoo performance We had the set menu The sommelier recommended a light Italian white It was a well balanced 5 course tasting menu very well served by attentive staff We enjoyed the ambience of Cucina Thoroughly recommend the experience We will go again
Great meal and service
Their website displays the seasonal set menu. However, when we arrived we were told it was not available in August. So....why is it on their website (and it still is there)? Very misleading! We left and ate elsewhere. Oh and the restaurant was empty...?!
Excellent food delivered with first class service.
We had a very fine meal here. The restaurant was an oasis of calm and quiet just a flight away from the enormous crowds at the Fringe Festival. The food was delicious and beautifully served. From the homemade focaccia to the homemade cookies, everything was first rate. And those crispy zucchini are justly famous!
While the service started out great, once the food was brought, we never saw the waiter again. We would have liked to order another bottle of wine and dessert but he never came back until we had to leave. The food was top-notch but the service, not so good. Left disappointed.
The food was top class and so was the service! Really enjoyable!
The service was awful. The restaurant was empty yet it took five minutes for us to be seated and we were then ignored by our waiter. The food came out cold and was tasteless.
The décor is really beautiful & the service impeccable, we went for the pre-theatre with bubby for £25 for 3 courses which was excellent but could probably have done with some sides. The house wine was about £25 which was a tad expensive. Overall its a really nice experience. The new cocktail bar is very pleasant too.
Open Table's special offer menu is, in fact, the same as the impressive seasonal menu that Cucina has on offer. While it's a compact set of option, the food is delicious. The pasta starter was so good that I would have been happy to have it for all three courses. However, the wine tasting menu is the star of the meal as far as I am concerned. The ability to get their choice of the perfect wines for each course was wonderful, not only for the flavours but also for the waiter's thoughtful explanation of each wine. I first went here with colleagues, and indeed there was a cheerful work group there, but this could be just as good for friends or on a date.
