Rail House Café
We must have been there at a difficult time as the service broke down. It took approx 40mins to have our food order taken, then we were served food over an hour after arrival. For breakfast this was just too slow. This was the worst it has been for a while so giving them the benefit of the doubt and hope next time will improve.
While the atmosphere and service was great, the food was disappointing and over-priced. Not a patch on its older sister, The Riding House Cafe.
Reasonable food, OK service. Surroundings aren't to everyone's taste. Expensive for what it is.
Staff were not very friendly. Women on door was actually quite rude.
I eat here fairly regularly and rate the food and service. Unfortunately on this occasion we were told upon arrival that we only had the table for an hour and a half - when we complained our server offered to sort this. We were given a cramped corner table practically wedged into the window frame and very close to the adjacent table (a squeeze to get between the tables). A shame as the food was great and the service as good as usual. It just didn’t feel like good value or a the usual great experience on this occasion.
Good aervice and some of the waiters are really nice but some seem to have an attitude problem.
Tables are not comfortable and they are too close to each other.
Lovely buzzy place for breakfast meeting. Everyone loves their food and it was well priced. The brioche pancake with cream could do with less cream though!!! Felt very sweet for breakfast!
Good food, nice decor, lively atmosphere, good service
First visit and will definitely go again. Distinctive menu and very good food. Beware the small chairs near round tables unless you like to rest your chin on the table. We arrived early enough to be able to move but the next person allocated the table want so lucky.
The restaurant itself and food was lovely but the service was lacking. We waited around 20mins to be offered a drink, after which we had to ask them. We then also waited to be offered dessert and again had to request for our order to be taken. it was a Monday evening, and it wasn't particularly busy. On leaving at 9.30pm the front desk was unmanned and we had to help ourselves to our coats in the cloakroom cupboard behind the desk, from the pile of cloakroom tokens on the desk it looked like many others had to do the same. A shame as has real potential in an area of London which has been a culinary wasteland until very recently.
The food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. I have food allergies and they were very accommodating in tailoring the food to my dietary needs. My friend and I had a delightful lunch in a buzzing atmosphere, I would truly recommend.
Great atmosphere great location nice menu but sadly pancakes overdone
Really enjoyed, food and service both great. Highly recommend
The seat we were in was cold - seemed like a draft from the air con maybe. We were near the kitchen and had to wear our coats would have been more pleasant if there wasn’t the a draft
We had a really lovely meal at Rail House Cafe. The staff were excellent. Attentive and friendly. Prompt service always with a smile. Yummy food. Excellent pre theatre visit.
I would recommend this place for after work drinks or meal, not ideal for an intimate evening / date as it's too noisy.
Really like this venue for lunch or dinner. Great menu, good food. Service is good too. Some seats less comfortable than others. But overall, I’d highly recommend it!
The food was fresh and delicious. your sourdough loaf is to die for, and quina salad, chips, everything was just the way we like. The manager very kindly turned down the music so that we could hear each other.
Thank you RHC
We had a lovely catch up over some amazing food - the mac n cheese with duck confit and avo toast. Tea and coffee were delicious and prices very reasonable! Will definitely come back again.
The food was tasty, but for the price nothing special, and there was not much of it.
The waiter spilt or drink on the table. This happens, but we were not offered anything July way of an apology which we were not impressed by.
The cost was not reflected in the quality or quantity of the dishes, but staff were lovely and attentive.
Food was good service was good but the noise made it impossible to have a conversation with friends without shouting!
The cocktails were delicious, however, I felt the food was a little over priced. 3 people within our party had the salt beef sandwich for £12 and we were all disappointed due to the price, it was literally a basic sandwich with a burnt crust. Our booking was at lunch time so it was very busy which resulted in a very slow service and when we chased our food we received a very fake appearing sorry. I had been to the rail house cafe before last year, but I was not happy with my recent visit.
It was a little noisy for my taste, pleasant brunch food
Menu is slightly unusual, containing many things that I enjoy eating, but that are not necessarily a natural fit. It was difficult to navigate when in a busy group.
For example: we ate ceviche and wantons and crispy squid.
Everything was fresh - lots of veg included in the options,. We drank Tattinger, which I thought was overpriced. I drink a lot of champagne and I found the considerable mark up disappointing. The food was generally delicious, and they acknowledged my birthday, which was lovely. Service was very good. We did have the courgette loaf and it was over cooked / hard (annoying as it was tasty). I did feel that they should have taken it off of the bill. Generally thought this is a great addition to Victoria and I will be back, if they put a more reasonably priced champagne on the menu.
There were 4 of us and we really enjoyed our meals and cocktails until the point when we were asked to sit upstairs were we didn't get served with water at our table like we did downstairs constantly.
Although there are a number of different restaurants in Victoria, I do find myself choosing RHC. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the service never disappoints.
I like the quirky menu and the veggie choices. Highly recommended.
We were looking for a pre-theatre restaurant near Victoria and found this restaurant. Very good service, amazing cheesecake (I wish I asked for the recipe) and a nice atmosphere. Yet, the toilets were not that clean and the noise levels were pretty high (despite us arriving before peak hour)
Food was good, service really attentive. The girls recommendations were spot on. The tuna tartare was particularly good, although even the main course portion wasn't that big. You definitely needed a side to go with it. The boys loved their burgers. Chips could have been a little hotter. And you only need one potion between two as they are big chips. Puddings were excellent. We had a complaint about the potato on one dish, that was undercooked, and the management dealt with whole affair really nicely, and took the dish off our bill.
Great service, lovely atmosphere and yummy food. A very enjoyable evening!
Despite being out of the black pudding and sausage for breakfast, the full English was absolutely delicious. Our lattes were delicious as well.
Great restaurant with really good atmosphere. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. Good location to get to Victoria very quickly after meal.
Nice after theatre early dinner with our teenagers. Fun ambiance, a little loud, but good option for Victoria Palace.
Not comparable to the Riding House Cafe
Food was mediocre especially considering price
The tables are very densely pushed together and the service is pretty unresponsive
It would be acceptable at a different price point
All good, only downside: - very high ceiling and hard floors creates high level of ambient noise
This is a fun spot for a semi-casual meal. The food is delicious. We had the Thai Chicken curry and rice and the baked aubergine. Both were excellent. The tarte tatin was on the sweet side (could suit some palates) but we finished it anyhow. Service was warm and friendly and we got seated quickly despite missing our booking slot. The table layout is quite packed so we found people are seating closeby and noise levels are quite loud despite the huge space. Still we had a wonderful time dining at RHC and will definitely return.
The food left much to be desired. I order the “chopped” salad and paid the extra to add chicken. Honestly I’ve had pre bagged salad from ALDI with more flavour, mostly the salad consisted of plain lettuce, there was a tiny bit of smushed avocado because they obviously could not let you have a whole “chopped” avocado for the price of £15.50. They might as well called it the smushed salad.
The service was boring and unmemorable not something I’d expect from somewhere that automatically add service to the bill.
The place was crowded and loud and although the decor is nice they have squeezed way too many tables in for it to be enjoyed.
Would not recommend. There are plenty of other places within the Nova Complex where I’d rather spend my time and money.
Delicious pancakes with berry compote, clotted cream, and maple syrup already poured on. I had to ask for more maple syrup because they didn't put that much on the pancakes to begin with. Really great atmosphere, decor, and ample seating. Will definitely be back.
Actually yes despite a poor experience yesterday where we waited a very long time for our breakfast to be served.
Have been before and had a much better experience
