Rail House Café
I booked this restaurant for my Boss, who is quite fussy when it comes to food. I asked for her feedback on her return and she said that it was the perfect place for a lunch meeting and the food and ambience was great. She would like me to book this restaurant if she is in the area again on business and she firmly recommends this as a perfect lunching spot. Nice to have lunch there for business meetings. She couldn't recommend it enough.
Food and service was great, but prices are too high for what it is.
Need more options to combine protein with bowls. Used to be able to do that and you can not anymore.
Tables are very close to each other. They cram too many tables in a small area.
I booked RHC for a breakfast meeting. The Eggs benedict were a disaster: hard, dry, over toasted muffins; a meagre serving of hollandaise; and small overcooked eggs.
The menu states that due to the nature of hollandaise the dish is served warm rather than hot. This shouldn't be an excuse to serve a lukewarm poorly excecuted dish.
In addition, service wasn't overly friendly and quite lacklustre. I will be avoiding RHC in the future.
best coctail ever - lemon and thyme - delicious. starters were very very good.
Service was outstanding - pleasant, engaging with a bit of fun. Food was good. Would recommend.
Cannot speak highly enough of the service or the atmosphere/venue itself, however we were let down by the food. Myself and two others ordered the avocado salsa on toast with poached egg. The bread was less than a centimeter thick and the eggs were tiny, cold and under cooked. We left feeling very hungry and went to get more food elsewhere.
Would recommend but with a warning that this is purely for convenience... Good location if coming in to or leaving from Victoria station,or going to the theatre locall. The menu has variety and service is friendly, though a little slow. The food itself is nothing special and ours was over salted. Felt like the kitchen were working to a formula and not quite getting it... We needed to be in the area so RHC served its purpose.
Though they've tried the restaurant lacks in atmosphere, feels too forced. Would have been better to make something of the structure of the building and the location rather than try to create an olde world tin hut railway station waiting room feel inside a super modern, glass and iron structure.
we had booked for 7 people, which was reduced to 4 people & we arrived an hour earlier, all of which was dealt with with no fuss or bother at all, excellent service, brilliant staff & a lovely atmosphere.
Lovely meal at RHC, good service and nice ambiance
Very small portions but overall ambiance nice.
The ambiance is really nice and the food was ok, but a little underwhelming compared to the menu and we felt it was not good value for money. Better for a drink than for dinner as the place is really cute and the staff are friendly
Lovely meal out with a friend to catch up - was quite quiet despite it being Friday evening. 'Starters' had limited appeal to be honest - the small dishes available as tapas style eating also served as a first course but not many were to my personal taste. The crunchy squid were very nice. Mushroom wellington for main - good size and well presented. Nice green vegetables. Have a feeling this place is more about location than the food.
Small portions, but probably appropriate for a quick lunch.
The restaurant looks much better on the images online. The food was particularly average. The burger comes with nothing and is quite small - you have to order chips on the side and no salad. The pork main meal was literally meat on a plate. Nothing memorable and we left feeling a bit hungry. I wouldn't come back in a hurry - there are much better places to eat. The staff looked overworked and were visably tired and wanted to go home and became quite sarcastically rude by the end of our meal.
Delicious food and very helpful and friendly staff
Birthday surprise for a friend, great food, service and location.
The shakshuka at brunch had tons of small and large tomato stems in it. They were really hard to spot & remove - and some were small enough to be a choking hazard. When we brought it up to our waitress, she just said it was meant to be that way and didn't seem too fussed about the potential choking hazard. Not great.
Great brunch menu,a shame there were no pancakes on the day we went.
The food was pretty good, but the lunchtime service was lacklustre and too slow at times, despite it being half full! The staff were however friendly, but sadly the whole experience was mediocre at best!
I had the smoked haddock kedgeree, but the first one had no fish. Had to go back. the second one was spot on. Service attentive and fast.
Too noisy and loud to be able to have a conversation with the person sat next to you
Also they ran out of pancakes by 11am for brunch...
Perfect Sunday brunch! The restaurant managed to accommodate my family of 4 even after 25mins late.
Lukas, our server was exceptional. Attentive and friendly to our needs.
Yes and no, I wasn’t blown away with it , table was sticky, online menu doesn’t match the menu in use, no salt beef sandwich now available but still online
I would use the word average to describe the experience
Very enjoyable lunch, quick service pre theatre and very attentive service
Ordered burgers for Sunday brunch. Well executed. Staff friendly and attentive, did leave food standing on counter for 2-3 mins so was probably slightly cooler than ideal. Brunch menu covers all you would expect. Ambiance modern, busy, but not too noisy. Price on the higher side for cafe style. Wine starts at £26 for a bottle. Beer £6 for half pint. Good location close to Victoria station.
Great experience, good food and lovely to sit outside on a summer's evening!
The food we had was really nice but they didn’t have any brioche and only one portion of pancakes left. This was disappointing as no one told us this when we were given the menus/sat down so when they came to take the order so first person in or group asked for brioche and told there was none, and the other two of us had wanted it too. We asked for more time to decide and we had all said we were getting pancakes - the person came back to take the order and someone asked for pancakes and it was only then they told us that was the last portion. It could have been helpful to let us know when we were told there was no brioche - by the way we also don’t have ... . This then meant only one of us could have pancakes and the other two had to choose something else. Also an indication pancakes are not made fresh at the premises?
All three of us ordered the chicken burger which had a weird shot of chicken broth on the side?!?!? Anyway, the chicken clearly had not been recently deep fried and tasted tough as old boots. The chilli crispy potatoes were overly friendly and a bit greasy to be honest.
Nice enough place but standards don’t appear overly high to be honest, which is a shame, as we are right above this place and with so much else on offer on the street, this place needs to up its game a whole lot.
Having a place which is so hit and miss isn’t acceptable. Scale down the menu if you need to but cook it all with love please.
Terrible acoustics. Could hardly hear each other speak
There were some problems with the food during my recent visit; two separate dishes were not at all as described on the menu, and one was actively inedible, so we decided on balance that we should leave rather than risk seeing what happened with the main courses. I will say that the staff handled it excellently and there were no issues at all with the service. The cocktails were also very nice.
Mixed experience. Plus points excellent friendly service including checking for allergies without any prompt. I don't have any but this is good service. Food is good but not sensational. Menu a bit of a mess and indication of which are small plates as supposed to be main courses would be helpful. Finally seating very cramped your almost felt obliged to hold your bladder until you pay the bill.
RHC never disappoints. Love the healthy and varied menu. Friendly service.
Nice cushiony sofas outdoors on a hot day, enough shade - tofu was exquisitely prepared but salad was otherwise lackluster - lovely lemonade - odd lack of soundproofing in toilets (!) - you can hear everything going on downstairs
the staff all seemed like deers in headlights a few of the cocktails on the menu had been 'discontinued' we believe this is due to them not being able to locate on the ipads when ordering
wine is very expensive - food and menu choices were good
Forgot to bring out a birthday candle with our dessert even though they had confirmed it twice. Disappointing.
Dishes sounded promising but they were shamefully terrible. Poorly constructed, lacking flavour and finesse. Would expect more for the price. Buratta was more like a cheap supermarket mozzarella. Experience only saved by the decent service, comfortable setting on the beds outside and good company.
Good service. Great food and friendly staff. Lift in an always position
Nice easy dining experience, good food but our choices were limited as some of the food was ‘out’ of stock!! Nevertheless it was fine in the end. Friendly staff and nice ambiance
The food and atmosphere is good. The staff and service were good.
The only thing that let this place down was the size of their deserts. I do love deserts and is the highlight of my eating out experience. I had cheesecake and it seemed that what was supposed to be one slice had been cut in two. And deserts are £7.
