Rail House Café
The food and service were good, but it is expensive for what it is and better value can be found elsewhere.
Good for pre theatre brunch. Reliable service. Lively ambience. But just average.
Seven of us went there for a light lunch. Food was good, ambiance excellent, lovely venue. Would definitely return.
Nice meal at RHC - the menu is quite similar to Caravan, so a bit different from the norm. Would definitely go back.
Service was absolutely outstanding and for London, touchingly sincere which was a nice treat. Only minor minor gripe would be the portion size. The table next to us had the same cauliflower dish (which was delicious!) and their portion was handsomely more generous than ours. Be good to have consistency.
Otherwise, would happily go again. Well done RHC!
Nice service and good food. Will look forward to going back.
Really delicious food, each time I come back it's different and takes you by surprise. Lovely service and a lovely ambience. I will be back.
Very nice place with a good service, but our pancakes were cold and we didn’t really enjoyed them.
Overall everything was good!
Convenient for the theatre
Toilet access 1st floor
Thanksgiving Dinner was incredible! So delicious! Loved EVERYTHING!
This is a lively and fun spot on Thanksgiving in central London! The fixed price menu hits all the highlights, with an English twist. It’s served family style. Cocktails for the table and dessert are included. We enjoyed the novelty of eating here on Thanksgiving Day and recommend it to any American family who find themselves in London.
A poor first impression Followed by a table by the windows which was freezing cold and both myself and my friends food was stone cold upon arrival
At our table- disappointing to say the very least - I won’t be back
Excellent friendly staff and service. Food delicious and ambience good
It was my first experience of Rail House Cafe and we were very well looked after. The menu was different and quite unusual, the food delicious and the service was great. I will definitely return for more.
Surprised by just how much I liked this restaurant. It’s a big space, but still managed to feel cosy. The food was delicious, and there’s a really good selection on the menu, in fact that’s the only negative was deciding what to have! Between us we had the kedgeree and the chicken with coconut and rice. Both were gorgeous. And the staff are friendly and helpful. Great restaurant, will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu!
Great, cosy, informal place for dinner, and brunch!
Great, healthy food and friendly service in a buzzy atmosphere.
visited for brunch mid-week..... staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Brunch options were good although would have LOVED vegan sausages, spinach etc to go with veggie breakfast (instead of halloumi and eggs). Decor and ambience were great - staff did not rush us to leave even though we were there way into lunchtime service - kept us topped up with water and coffees and all with big smiles. Recommended!!
Wonderful find. Excellent food and completely charming service.
Good lively atmosphere and friendly staff.
Came here for brunch on a Sunday, food was good however the portions were not that big so needed to order extra sides.
Great atmosphere and service with fantastic food. Drinks pricey but the whole experience is great.
Poor service, the food arrived cold. They tried charging us £16 for service but we asked to take the charge off the bill.
The pancakes were presented beautifully, however they were extremely dense - in no way ‘fluffy pancakes!’ However the berry compote was lovely.
The service was very clumsy. Our waitress was friendly but she dropped cutlery in our water and made a hell of a disturbance! Best to take 2/3 plates at a time rather than knock us out with flying forks! She also told us we hadn’t paid enough (despite paying an additional £4 on top of the service charge).
Lovely ambiance and despite the clumsy service and average food, I will be back. Perhaps just not as soon as I thought.
We had a baby with us and a pushchair the staff couldn’t be more accommodating and lovely! I will definitely be going back. Really delicious food and great service. Plus the decor is stunning!
Terribly noisy, food is too expensive for the quality that they give you.
Been here a few times now & have to say it felt hectic & not in a good way. On more than one occasion someone walked/squeezed past our table and knocked over a cruet. My friend spent most of the meal dodging trays as they swiped past her head.
Food came out suspiciously fast, it was fine but have the portions got smaller?. Ridiculously small side dish of wet kale which wasn’t that nice.
It’s so busy it’s almost stressful sitting in there as a diner. Think I’ll be going somewhere else next time.
Food portions small for their price! Left hungry after spending a fair price for a main and pudding.
Would probably only go for a drink and miss out on the food.
Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. The staff went the extra mile and were really kind and gave us one of our desserts on the house as it was our mums birthday :-) Most delicious cheesecake ever!
We booked here to take my friend for a birthday brunch. We had to wait for ages to be seated, our table then wasn't clean and it took ages for us to be able to order drinks.
1 waiter then told me I look very tired ( which I didn't particularly need to here and we were all pretty shocked about his rude attempt at joking with us). We were then told by another member of staff not to speak to him as he wasn't our waiter. I was charged £8.50 for a soggy, thin spread of avocado on toast - which I Wouldnt have minded if you could make out the salsa on top that there claimed to be on the menu. We were rushed out as soon as they could get rid of us. Everything was average when their riding house cafe has always been outstanding in service and food
Went for brunch. Lovely in all ways but food was far too overpriced for the tiny portion size we were given. We actually had to go somewhere else for tea and pastries after. Lots of places nearby which are just as lovely and same prices but alot better portions. I paid £14 for a slice of toast, and egg and a few mushrooms with tea. Nearby places you get so much more!
Style over substance. The most uncomfortable place we’ve ever eaten. Food was ok though overpriced but honestly, way too loud meaning you have to shout, wooden garden benches, ridiculously low chairs, tables with metal bars where your legs should be... nothing that makes for a pleasant dining experience. The service rushed us through (our mains arriving before we’d finished our starters!) but we didn’t mind as were happy to leave.
Great restaurant with such charming and efficient staff. Loved the idea of small dishes which could be ordered as and when required which made for a relaxing and easy evening. All our food was delicious.
This place looks fancy on the surface but lacks soul. We went for brunch and the food was really expensive for what you got. Not sure I would go again.
Coffees were cold. Food arrived cold. The waiter basically kicked us out of the restaurant because our time "run out". Rude!
Great service, fast and very accommodating.
Superb on every level ! From the moment we walked in & were offered a “better table” by the maitre’d to the moment we left we couldn’t have asked, or wished for, a better dining experience !
I was there for brunch with my friend. Loved the service and restaurant is very beautiful!
I’m afraid my pancakes were burnt underneath, bacon not crispy. And eggs which were poached were under done. It tasted ok, but if you’re paying for brekkie you kinda don’t want burnt and undercooked bacon. I left a lot of it, but no one really asked if it was ok. And to honest I couldn’t be bothered to complain as it was the weekend and I didn’t need the extra hassle. Sorry! The staff were lovely though - really friendly and helpful.
Really comfortable restaurant / cafe close to Victoria Station. Very modern building but retro feel inside - beautiful interior. We had breakfast on a Saturday and it was very quiet with good food and friendly service. Worth noting, the main "breakfast" menu is only Mon-Fri. I would definitely go back here.
I love this restaurant so much, the food, the staff, the design and ambience. Buzzing atmosphere, always fun.
On our last visit a couple of days ago, we took one of my closest friends, who has some food intolerances that make dining out tricky for her. Our server and even the chef both discussed it with her and went out of their way to accommodate her dietary needs. That's going the extra mile and was much appreciated.
Rail House Cafe is my happy place.
