Rail House Café
Freezing cold near the (unused) door
Stunning food, beautifully presented. The cocktails are on the small and pricey side, but it's the food and ambiance you go for.
It was a wonderful visit to Rail House Café. The waiters were so kind and respectful, offering their best every single second. I strongly recommend the place to everyone for enjoying time with friends and for making any kind of celebration.
Our table wasn’t ready and we were kept waiting for 20 minutes. Food is expensive, salty and overpriced. Unfriendly service. Avoid!
Attentive service but bad acoustics and frequent cold draught when sat in alcove under stairs!
Handy place to meet and eat near Victoria station. Pleasant atmosphere
Very good breakfast option in Victoria with a varied menu and excellent service
Tzy food with good options and great service. Just a bit expensive.
Food was mediocre. Went all the way for pancakes which they ran out of, so had to order shakshuka which was watery. Service was good and decor was pretty.
A chance booking pre theatre but will return for a more leisurely meal. Loved it. Thanks to wonderful friendly and attentive staff.
Terrible service and terrible food. Grilled tofu quinoa was not grilled despite paying £3.50 for it to be grilled, they put so much soy sauce on the quinoa I was gasping for water all night! A friend ordered a burger which they didn't have a bun for so she then ordered a bread roll which they charged for ( £3.50) without reducing the £15 burger, it was ordered medium and arrived well done. Better to go for a drink as it is a nice looking bar and environment on the whole. They eventually made adjustments to our bill but nevertheless they had absolutely no intention of making these adjustments and we would much prefer to have decent food in the first place and pay full price!
really good food and a varied menu - my go to in Victoria
Great place in Nova Victoria, located right next to the station and close to the theatres. Met a friend for a catch up dinner. The restaurant is busy but we could hear each other and have a good catch up. Service is friendly and not rushed. Food was decent - we have the aubergine main and chocolate fondant. Servings are small but filling. Would visit again.
Food was overpriced £80for two, mains a side, G&T each and a bottle of water, food was dry and service was slow, blamed on the pre theatre rush, but we were there at 17.45 - terrible don’t recommend pre theatre
Being a nearby office worker, the Rail House Café is an option often chosen for business lunches and it keeps on disappointing and not improving. I have tried about 7-10 dishes by now. This time, I had the Reuben sandwich which was so over heated that the salted beef and sauerkraut were so dry, the overall result felt stale. The menu is unimpressive and barely changes. The Riding House Café and East are such great venue, how can this one be such a poor relative.
The best part of the Rail House is the bar on the upper level which is a secret gem, drinks are good but stay away from the food
A lovely meal. Quite short table time so no time for dessert, but food was good and staff were friendly.
Excellent service, including when we asked to move tables as one of our party had difficulty sitting at the original table and delicious food. The only downside was having to vacate the table after 2.5 hours as it was booked again and we hadn't finished chatting!
great food, excellent Customer Service and reasonably priced also.
Had a really good pre theatre meal at Rail House Cafe for 3 adults and 1 child. Really lovely atmosphere and very friendly waiting staff. Lovely touch with the colouring in for my niece. The selection of food on the menu was fantastic. My mum and sister thought their Chicken & Coconut and Short Rib main courses were really delicious. My niece ended up ordering off the adult menu as there was such little selection on the childrens menu but really enjoyed her burger. The only slight downside was the Partridge dish I'd ordered ... the Partridge was dry and overcooked unfortunately and the gravy slightly too salty.
Other than that we had a lovely time!
Shame that there is only the brunch menu available throughout the weekend rather than the usual variety of Mains - The brunch is comparatively overpriced compared to other dining options. That said, RHC has a diverse menu for all tastes, and great atmosphere/service!
Great food, great service, great ambience. Would definitely recommend
Good variety of dishes. Tables spaced much too close together though.
Would say the meal I had at Rail House Cafe was the best I've had all year - starter, main and dessert were sensational. Service was great and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Can't wait to go back and have already recommended it to friends and collegues.
The food was surprisingly disappointing, given the menu looks quite . We had a business breakfast there and the potions were very small with bad presentation, E.g. the french toast was just two huge pieces of bread drowning in syrup with a ball of butter on the side. The service wasn't very good, possibly because they didn't have enough staff to cover everyone. I wouldn't go here for breakfast again. It's far too expensive for poor quality.
nice venue, good service, had delicious pancakes on a Sunday.
The food came in 15 minutes. The meal was done in 25 minutes. It was just too rushed to be enjoyable. The food was good, but it was very expensive for what you got. I wouldn’t rush back.
Delicious food in a cosy setting with super service in the heart of Victoria, highly recommend!
Great for a few after work drinks or work meeting.
Previously had a mix of starter plates over a few bottles of bubbles with a small group whchh was perfect.
Had dinner with a friend there last night and my meal was dissapointing. Poor quality mix of fresh lettuce in salad and tiny portion of meat and avocado. Very bland. Good vibe in there though.
Booked a meal at 5pm pre theatre. Busy putting decorations up so moved tables. Then the chef’s kitchen light was too bright for our table so moved again. Starters v good, mains ok. One lead waitress very good but newer staff poor
Wouldn’t go back
The starters were good but the main courses were overpriced for what they offered.
We arrived on time for Saturday brunch & I had pre requested a high chair, however I was told one won't be available for half an hour & they'll bring it over, but one never arrived - I didn't end up feeding my daughter anyway so wasn't an issue in the end. We were told there weren't any pancakes - a brunch staple - & a few other things missing from the menu. The food wasn't hot (not cold either, just that warm enough to eat temp!) & wasn't a 'healthy' portion size in my opinion either. I would say it was ok at best & won't be going out of my way to go again or recomend to anyone. I do think if you just want drinks & a catch up, it would be a good venue though.
My first time here after getting a recommendation from a friend. This place is really, really good. The food was amazing. I like it you can try lots of small dishes. The service was great, our waitress was perfect. It wasn't too noisy, so you can hear yourself speak. The veggie options are great, almost too much to choose from. We will definitely be back!!
Good service but food was overpriced for what it was. Plenty of vegetarian options.
Met 2 friends on a Saturday evening for a catch up. Restaurant is in a convenient location for those who need to use Victoria station and a nice ambiance with a good menu. We had a pleasant evening and waiting staff were attentive and polite. Food good, there was a mix up with the order but this was resolved quickly and staff serving apologised for the error. Nice restaurant, would return/recommend.
First visit and it won't be the last! Booked for a pre-theatre meal so arrived just before 5pm. Restaurant was quiet on arrival but very buzzy when we left 90 minutes later. Food was of a high quality - creative and tasty, moderate portion size which was just right for me and my friend. Service was excellent. Staff were attentive at all times and water was topped up regularly without the need for prompting. We were very impressed - definitely worth a visit for anyone in the area!
I love this place. It's got a great vibe, fabulous food, and is convenient for the Victoria Palace Theatre for all you Hamilton fans looking for a place to dine before the show. Service is efficient and unobtrusive. The menu is interesting and vegetarians are well catered for. Just go there and enjoy!
A great pre-theatre brunch. Lovely food to choose from for small plates and large plates, also great options for vegetarians. Very friendly and attentive service.
Met some old friends for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Lots of menu options to choose from and very friendly and attentive staff. Lovely atmosphere as well - lively but not too loud.
First time here and not disappointed
Had breakfast, really varied and tasty menu
Great coffee - and cream available!
