Mains were sent back twice and was not good. Far too salty. Service was very good though.

Our meal was fairly good but it was let down by the Dover sole which was absolutely miniscule, came with no sides and was £22 for the plate. My husband had to eat half my main (even when we ordered sides) to avoid being starving. It left us feeling pretty ripped off. This could have been avoided by being served with some greens and potatoes - not a huge cost. Also there was a bad smell of mould coming from the kitchen.

I chose Rail House Cafe as a place to stop for a light lunch at 12.30 and to do a bit of work before a meeting. I had plenty of time and was seated in a lovely corner table looking back into the restaurant/bar area.
The waiter came over very quickly and took my order of tuna tartare and grilled sweet potato. In no more than about five minutes the food arrived - clearly prepared and taken out of the fridge for the tuna and rapidly warmed for the sweet potato.
Both dishes lacked any flavour of what they were meant to be. The tuna and avocado were soggy having sat in the dressing for too long and the sweet potato was undercooked during it's previous grilling/cooking). It's disappointing as I've previously had excellent meals at Riding House Cafe, the sister restaurant. They clearly have a lunch time remit to get food out quickly within usual business lunch breaks and I may have ordered the wrong thing. The tables around me went for burgers or mac and cheese etc. and seemed happy with their food.
Also, the waiter obviously felt he was being very attentive/efficient coming over immediately to whip my plate away and top up my water glass (something he did repeatedly) but unfortunately it had the effect of making me feel very rushed.
I would try Rail House Cafe again - fingers crossed for a better food experience as it's a nice casual setting in a very convenient location.

Cosy atmosphere, great food and service! The only thing I feel could be better is booking times - 1,5 hours is not too long if you're wanting to catch up with friends over a nice meal :)

Our waiter was not a happy bunny but the food was nice. I’ve been before and loved it but we were stuck under the stairs with a larger group who were very noisy so a bit annoyed by that.

Good for a post work dinner. Lovely atmosphere. Tasty food. Been a few times and it’s a little chilly so bring a jumper if you get cold easily.

Nice buzzy place and perfect for dinner before Hamilton at the Victoria Palace. Management on the ballot iron out small imperfections. Welcoming with caring hospitality and an interesting, varied menu, well cooked and presented.

Arrived early and was seen to quickly. The service was excellent. Unfortunately one of the dishes we ordered was not so good but they immediately came over and then the manager came over to us and said he wasn’t going to charge for anything that we had ordered.
I would definitely go back there as the atmosphere was great and the service was exemplary.
They could teach other restaurants about customer service.
The manager even left the restaurant to show us exactly how to get to the theatre!

There's nothing special about this place - for two main meals and some wine we spent nearly £80. Considering there's a Franco Manca next door this seems totally absurd. It wasn't unpleasant, just completely average in every way.

I recommend this place

Restaurant was nice... I had heard good things from friends. We went in the afternoon, I had a delicious coconut chicken rice dish, friends had the beef burger and veggie burger unfortunately far from delicious. Possibly more suited to brunch/brekkie menu.

Fab dinner yesterday evening! I know my partner and I can be quite particular, so we had lots of questions about what was best and the staff could not do enough. Their recommendations were spot on and nothing was too much trouble. When the food arrived, everything was delicious, can not recommend this place enough!

Although the food and service were good, we were disappointed that out of about six red wines available by the glass/carafe, two were not available (which were the two we would have normally chosen). We had to choose a carafe of wine we did not particularly like because of price. The Manager was not helpful at all and seemed to resent the fact that we were querying the lack of choice. When the time came to pay, the Manager decided to remove the Service Charge from the bill because of the problem with the wine. We were not happy with this decision as we felt that the waitresses were being penalised for something which was not their fault. We had had no problems with the waitress who was serving us. Again the Manager was not helpful and kept arguing with us. In the end, very reluctantly, he removed the charge for the wine from the bill. We gave the waitress the Service Charge in cash. If the Manager had apologised and deducted something from the cost of the wine in the first instance, we would have been happy, but his attitude and the fact that he deducted the Service Charge was not appropriate. Not sure that we will be back in a hurry.

Really interesting and unusual menu - something for everyone! Also great idea having the extras (meats/tofu/halloumi etc) as optional. Means you can customise to your personal tastes! Very attentive and friendly service too. Fun open kitchen; fab atmosphere, even in the early evening!

This was a nice venue, we had lunch here pre theatre and a drink outside later. The service was very good although some of the order was wrong but she picked up on that and tried to amend. The food just wasn't great, my brunch was a bit tasteless and my husbands mac and cheese rather dry. Would go back for drinks/cocktails but not food.

Great restaurant/bar on Thursday night on our way to see Hamilton round the corner. I thought the menu was a great selection of dishes. I took my mother along and we ordered Potato bread and Squid to start with which was great. My mother ordered Coconut rice and Chicken as a main, which she thought was cold (which I didn't agree with), so I swapped it with my short rib beef. I thought both dishes were really good. We ordered some Poutine (fries), which we had to remind them to bring, and they didn't charge for it. Mom ordered an espresso which she sent back as cold, which they replaced with another cold espresso. My latte was fine. Staff were nice and friendly.

We enjoyed our brunch on Sunday, however the waffles was not available (no other sweet options) as I had my 2 year, this was the only option he wanted.
My friend also wanted the green juice, with out celery, however the juice base was already pre-made so the celery could not be removed. Lovely decor and we were there at 10:30 so was not busy yet, as we finished up tables were filling up.

Pre show supper, booked online at 5. We arrived on time and the cafe was almost empty. Despite this we were urged to take a table right near the door where people wait to be seated. We finally managed to negotiate a table further along the mass of empty tables but were warned that we would need to go by 6.15 as they needed to put a large party wherever we were seated. We already told them several times that we needed to leave by 6. We were reminded again about leaving promptly halfway through our meal. The place was almost completely empty right up until the time we left. Felt hassled and stressed while we ate. The food was very good although not much of it and expensive. My sea bream, although well cooked and presented, consisted of one very small fillet. Perhaps we were given small portions so we wouldn’t stay long! Disappointing experience
