Don't book a table here after 9pm as they close the kitchwn at 9.45. We had a late table and when we arrived they refused to serve us so why accept the booking?
We were placed in the corner of the restaurant at the start (presumably is to allow for a more quiet environment for our business lunch), however once we asked to be moved, we were moved to the brighter part of the restaurant. The food itself was excellent and there's a good selection of wine and beers. Can certainly recommend it if you're in the area.
Crispy squid pretty poor as was poutine (not hot no cheese) - quite pricey for average fair. Drinks were nice, service was good. Probably only for business breakfast/brunch I'd say rather than stellar night out.
Went for Saturday brunch and food came out cold. Was much better in taste the first time we went over a year ago.
We both had a pre theatre dinner. We were seated and then just left for 15 minutes. Supposedly it was because kitchen had not opened. Okay but maybe tell us and take a drink order?
Then the food. I ordered a dinner size salad with freekah. It was pathetic. Mostly iceberg lettuce. My friend had starter size that was nothing but lettuce. This was not cheap. Do not understand positive reviews. Will not be going back.
Lovely food - generous portions and really fresh flavours. Service was spot on and the whole restaurant had such a lovely feel. You could have a casual but to eat or a celebration and be equally happy.
Location, ambience and great food. Outdoor dining is fabulous as well.
The menu was good, but the quality of the food was average to poor.
Food was really delicious.
So nice to see some exciting and tasty healthier options on the Menu.
I had the Stir-fried quinoa and it was so delicious.
We shared some starters and the ceviche was so so good.
Really enjoyed it and want to go back again to try some of the other things on the Menu!
This restaurant had been recommended to me and on this basis I made a booking for a catch up with friends. My friends enjoyed their meals of chicken and lamb. I ordered the burger which was very greasy. There was grease on the plate and when I picked up the food to eat, the grease was still seeping from the burger. The chips served with it were hard and inedible. I couldn't eat my meal and returned it. I wasn't offered an alternative and neither did they take the cost of this item off the bill until we asked. I did not receive an apology with regard to the poor standard of my meal. Wine is very expensive too. All in all a very disappointing experience and we will not be returning.
Lively atmosphere with great food and good selection of craft ales.
Staff friendly and attentive. Service was slow for one course but staff apologised and resolved quickly.
Thoroughly recommend for an informal business lunch or dinner
Excellent evening with a lovely friend.
On arrival we were very well looked after and then throughout the evening all staff were friendly and attentive.
Food was delicious. We both had chicken and coconut curry and shared a cheeseboard.
Would definitely re-visit.
Lovely restaurant - cool decor, light and spacious, fantastic waiter, good food
Service was very slow and we weren't told we only had the table for two hours. Combine the two, and we were disappointed when the waiter just served us with the bill instead of the dessert menu. We had sat for ages waiting for drinks and for ages after we had finished our food. Wouldn't recommend, except on location for convenience.
Why does a sandwich with chicken come in the same bun as a beef burger? Wasn't feeling it. None of us were unfortunately. Chicken Caesar was super salty as well. Great décor but wont be back.
Service and ambience good but let down with very average quality food and a poor unimaginative wine list. Not brilliant under any circumstances!!
The lentil and okra curry I had was not a curry, didn't come with rice - it was more of a stew and lacked flavour.
My friend had the Sandwich la Sandwich and said the chicken was very dry.
One of the waitresses was quite off hand, I wasn't impressed with the whole experience and won't be coming back.
This was a wonderful pre-theater choice! Service was friendly and quick and a great way to sit outdoors on a nice evening. The menu had many different enticing options, so I can't wait to go back and try more. We both loved everything we got to eat -- some great flavors! Wow, the decor of this place is amazing! Love the wood, colors, outdoor seating and pillows, bar, etc. and don't forget the beautiful WCs! We can't wait to return. Highly recommend.
It was nice for a casual friends get together. Food was simple and enjoyable. Staff were polite and efficient. Nice decor.
Not a cheap option (I may be a bit harsh with only giving 3 stars for value) but the ambience, food and service made it an enjoyable evening.
Went pre theatre but number of items on menu not available. Disappointing restaurant. limited choice for non meat and non shell fish. Portion sizes very small and very limited selection of side dishes. Food expensive. Waiter not interested in customer and unattentive. Had to ask 3 times for drinks. Would not recommend.
Been here twice for brunch and it is very average, particularly the waffles were quite dry. However, the restaurant has nice decor and vibes, good for casual dining.
Great food and ambiance. Our food took quite a while to come out with no explanation.
The table across from us arrived after us and left before us as everything they ordered came before ours. I'd still definitely return but the restaurant was very quite that day and I'd worry if we were to come at a busy time that the service would not be very good.
This was my third visit. The RHC has been consistently excellent. Great food, friendly and attentive staff and good vibe.
Loved it. Had to ask to move table though as the first table we were presented with was too small and narrow and not ideal (on wheels by the door). Lovely atmosphere and great food! Will be back.
A good spot for lunch - busy but not packed. Reasonable value especially for central Victoria
Rather disappointed by somewhere that should be better. Great location and building but the table we had was crammed in and it was a struggle to get in and out of our seats. Starters were disappointing. Fig and Gorgonzola salad conjured up big juicy figs and beautiful blue Gorgonzola........in reality two tiny pieces of the worlds smallest fog and equally small pieces of cheese together with cauliflower that simply didn’t belong on the plate. Th aubergine burger consisted of a soggy patty that squished outside the bun and mostly fell over me or the floor. The best part of the meal was the mint tea. For the price, £60 for two with no alcohol, I expect much better.
Great spot for casual Sunday lunch with friends. Fun ambience with old railway decor - reminded us of the Antipodes, particularly with the corrugated iron - Aus? Menu offered a very good range. Service was prompt and friendly. We would definitely return.
Food lacklustre, bench seating really annoying for the middle person, atmosphere curiously lacking
We arrived for our booking a couple of minutes early and were seated immediately. The maitre'd was very pleasant. The wait staff was very attentive and were good with suggestions.
Because we were running a little late for the theatre, we asked for the bill before finishing. It was brought promptly and pleasantly. The food was ok, but the best part was the cocktail we ordered.
Overall our experience was good.
Very small portions and totally uninspiring salads. Mainly lettuce, microscopic amounts of all other ingredients mentioned in the descriptions. Caesar salad way overdressed. Minute starters apart from the chicken wings which was a generous portion. Wine is pricey too. Maybe burgers offer better value. I think this is costings watched so closely that customers feel dissatisfied.
Very nice location, good vibe and nice drinks. Service is good as well. Food is mediocre at best. Ordered the sea bass with a side of sweet potatoes; the side was way bigger than the main dish and taste-wise it was nothing great or unexpected; or even interesting. Huge disappointment. Would only recommend this place for drinks.
lovely interiors and outside seating, with attentive staff
Went with a friend after work for dinner. We'd booked a few weeks in advance but were put at a tiny table in a very noisy/busy part of the restaurant. It was very busy and felt quite cramped, as though they'd put in more tables/furniture than the space could take. Definitely didn't feel spacious. Service was fairly slow but they were very busy. Food was tasty but portions were small and the menu is pricey to begin with. If I was going out for dinner again in this area I'd probably return to Timmy Green's rather than coming here.
This place looks nice in a trendy little pedestrianised part near Victoria station. However I did not enjoy it for the following reasons: too noisy, acoustics were bad so couldn’t hear each other speak. The menu was sooo limited. The main courses had enough choice but the starters were all “sharing plates” and sorry were not things easily shared (other than the calamari) and only a couple of choices of puddings that all sounded dull. My other gripe was the chairs were like garden benches so really uncomfortable as you had to Lean forward to hear your friends speaking and so had no back support. However I had the coconut chicken as my main course which was very nice, my friends had salads and they looked good too. Think they need to widen the starter and pudding menu and do something about the acoustics.
Food was good but service is quite bad. Got half a cup of coffee and when I asked for it to be topped up the waitress forgot. Had to wait a while for food and waitress didn’t really pay attention
We came here before the matinee of Hamilton. It is a great location for pre-theatre dining in Victoria.
Very nice experience once again at the RHC. Friday night dinner with friends. The place was buzzing, but that had no negative impact whatsoever on quality of service. Very nice young crew. A warm welcome and kind goodbye when leaving. Nice menu options for small and bigger bites. Will go again soon. ideally located right by Victoria station.
Very small dishes for lunch at overinflated prices. Had a much better experience of this place when I went there for brunch previously.
