Rail House Café
There were 4 of us and we really enjoyed our meals and cocktails until the point when we were asked to sit upstairs were we didn't get served with water at our table like we did downstairs constantly.
Although there are a number of different restaurants in Victoria, I do find myself choosing RHC. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the service never disappoints.
I like the quirky menu and the veggie choices. Highly recommended.
We were looking for a pre-theatre restaurant near Victoria and found this restaurant. Very good service, amazing cheesecake (I wish I asked for the recipe) and a nice atmosphere. Yet, the toilets were not that clean and the noise levels were pretty high (despite us arriving before peak hour)
Food was good, service really attentive. The girls recommendations were spot on. The tuna tartare was particularly good, although even the main course portion wasn't that big. You definitely needed a side to go with it. The boys loved their burgers. Chips could have been a little hotter. And you only need one potion between two as they are big chips. Puddings were excellent. We had a complaint about the potato on one dish, that was undercooked, and the management dealt with whole affair really nicely, and took the dish off our bill.
Great service, lovely atmosphere and yummy food. A very enjoyable evening!
Despite being out of the black pudding and sausage for breakfast, the full English was absolutely delicious. Our lattes were delicious as well.
Great restaurant with really good atmosphere. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. Good location to get to Victoria very quickly after meal.
Nice after theatre early dinner with our teenagers. Fun ambiance, a little loud, but good option for Victoria Palace.
Not comparable to the Riding House Cafe
Food was mediocre especially considering price
The tables are very densely pushed together and the service is pretty unresponsive
It would be acceptable at a different price point
All good, only downside: - very high ceiling and hard floors creates high level of ambient noise
This is a fun spot for a semi-casual meal. The food is delicious. We had the Thai Chicken curry and rice and the baked aubergine. Both were excellent. The tarte tatin was on the sweet side (could suit some palates) but we finished it anyhow. Service was warm and friendly and we got seated quickly despite missing our booking slot. The table layout is quite packed so we found people are seating closeby and noise levels are quite loud despite the huge space. Still we had a wonderful time dining at RHC and will definitely return.
The food left much to be desired. I order the “chopped” salad and paid the extra to add chicken. Honestly I’ve had pre bagged salad from ALDI with more flavour, mostly the salad consisted of plain lettuce, there was a tiny bit of smushed avocado because they obviously could not let you have a whole “chopped” avocado for the price of £15.50. They might as well called it the smushed salad.
The service was boring and unmemorable not something I’d expect from somewhere that automatically add service to the bill.
The place was crowded and loud and although the decor is nice they have squeezed way too many tables in for it to be enjoyed.
Would not recommend. There are plenty of other places within the Nova Complex where I’d rather spend my time and money.
Delicious pancakes with berry compote, clotted cream, and maple syrup already poured on. I had to ask for more maple syrup because they didn't put that much on the pancakes to begin with. Really great atmosphere, decor, and ample seating. Will definitely be back.
Actually yes despite a poor experience yesterday where we waited a very long time for our breakfast to be served.
Have been before and had a much better experience
I went to the Rail House with a small group of friends for brunch. Although it was a busy time on a Saturday, the service was great. We didn’t have to wait long for our food which was delicious. The staff was kind professional and welcoming. I will definitely go back
If the food hadn’t been good, I would have given this a 1 star as the service was horrible. Our waiter brought our meals and we noticed that he didn’t get our orders right. Instead of offering to fix them he goes “a few mistakes but enjoy” and walked away. He also forgot to bring over the starters we ordered and brought the wrong juice, which he then included on the bill. The food was nice so I can’t fault that too much but the overall experience was subpar.
Horrible waiting experience.
First time visitor and will definitely be back. Great, buzzy ambience, yummy food and excellent service - the waiting staff were super helpful and efficient and nothing was too much trouble.
Ok for brunch, they don’t do English breakfast unfortunately
Poor quality food and disappointing service. Nicely decorated but that’s not really why we went.
Massively overpriced. OK food but office-worker conveyor belt. Service was good but a process
Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent, prompt service. The food was delicious and we had some fabulous wine. It was my husband’s birthday and our waiter really made the extra effort. We loved the building and the decor (beautiful floor tiles in the Ladies). Really looking forward to visiting again - thank you.
I loved the decor of the place. Great atmosphere, comfy chairs. Food was great but my Reuben sandwich could have done with more pickles in my opinion!
Great location close to Victoria for a relaxed business lunch. Service was good, plenty of choices for all tastes/requirements and noticed a nice central bar set up with individual placements so equally a good place to grab a solus lunch.
Lively atmosphere and excellent service. Great range of options on the menu.
Good business breakfast. Nice breakfast and good coffee as always.
Will definitely be back.
So Riding House has gone chain and now we have Rail House. Clearly a fortune has been spent on the design and fitout but it’s pretty noisy, and I say that as someone who likes a buzzy place.
Mostly I’m giving 3 stars though because the eggs benedict was average for a pricey £11.50, thin tasteless ham and dry barely toasted muffins. Latte was also average.
Service was very good, 5 stars.
Expect the chain feel in a commercial district. Still Victoria is better than it used to be.
Lovely place for a Sunday brunch. Salmon and avocado toast are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
Manager was quite rude re: table turn around. Rest of staff were brilliant
Although there was no table following us, we were rushed to pay the bill and this felt quite unnecessary.
We were given a tiny table in a tight space for lunch and asked for a different table. Despite many be available we were then given a slightly larger one squeezed into a dark corner. No idea why someone would do this when there was plenty of tables free
Went for brunch with friends, food was good, however I thought pricey for what it was
Not as relaxing or ambient as it’s sister cafe.
Absolutely freezing cold inside the cafe- had to keep our coats on. But food was lovely- especially pancakes. And service was great too.
Great brunch spot with lovely interior. Good selection of brunch choices! Always a busy and popular place, so booking is a must! This is my second time to rail house cafe, but this time I got placed in a really dim lit room (not the main dining area).. which felt like I was eating at night and not 11am in the morning! Other than that, really like this restaurant and would come again.
Lovely service. Was greeted with a smile at the front desk. Really great
Really fab evening! The sharing plates were particularly good!
Muffin under salmon royale (eggs Benedicte) was cold and stodgy. Sauce gloopy. Table rickety. Restaurant not a patch on Riding House. Disappointing
Very nice restaurant suitable for any occasion. Only slight complaint we had was that our food wasn’t very hot.
Great Menu, delicious food and friendly welcoming staff. Would visit again!
