Red Dog Saloon Hoxton
Barbeque grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smouldering wood added a distinctive smoky taste to the meat. The process could take many hours, leaving the meat tender and juicy.
Our award-winning smoker has been imported from the USA and is built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 16 hours.
espresso bbq, house pickles, onions
If I’m judging this on the food then 5 stars! The kitchen did lose our order so we had to wait an hour and a half for our food, but the manager was 100% honest with us, and kindly took a lot of the food off our bill. For that reason I absolutely can’t fault them, many places would have just lied to us! They also gave us free drinks as an apology.
We have been going around London trying all those burgers you see on Instagram, and of the 10+ similarly trendy burger places we have been to, this wins hands down. It was amazing. The philly fries were also incredible and the chicken wings were insane. You get eight in a portion so it was quite a nice little starter to share between us.
We will be back soon! Friendly staff, amazing food, and a lovely atmosphere.
Food was great but waitress could not have been more miserable if she tried, which made the overall experience not great!!
There was a mistake on the app. The kitchen was closed. The manager and staff still let us order drinks and a desert. Most people turn you away when businesses needs money! The staff are an asset to Red dog saloon
The food and service was great but I wasn’t happy that we was not actually sitting outside the restaurant as I assumed . If we was sitting somewhere else the restaurant should have called us to tell us pre hand so we could have decided whether we wanted to come. I am hoping you will do something for me due to this as it was husband birthday so I was upset .
Stunning food and lovely staff, what more can you say
Staff Rude, no social distancing would rather see their customers walk out rather than try to keep customers happy
Sat us too close to other people wanted to change seat and they would not let us move they gave us the choice to stay their or leave
Not happy at all never going here again
On the website there was a breakfast menu available 10am-4pm on weekends. Arrived to be told they don’t do breakfast or brunch on the weekends. Food took a really long time to be served and we were told they would need the table back in 10 mins while we were still eating.
Had this a a last minute late lunch choice. the others had a selection of chicken wings which they absolute loved. The cocktails also went down very well. top faves were the El diablo and the Young Cuban.
we would defiantly go again if we were ever in the area and fancied some BBQ/American South food.
Food was amazing, will most definitely be back!
Not the best place in Hoxton Square, overpriced food and drinks
We go here quite often for work. Unfortunately, even with just a group of six people, there has always been parts of our order missed. Even introducing something as simple as using a pad and pen would help instead of trying to impress by remembering. I ordered the burger and the wings to come together, and I had the burger which was finished very quickly and then I had to remind the staff about the wings which were clearly forgotten, showed up twenty minutes later and had no flavour. The chicken is the biggest letdown and tastes very cheap. One of my team ordered the chicken fingers and part of the meal came with bread. We were not expecting five chicken strips resting on a single slice of white Hovis bread that was just pulled out of a sliced bread packet.
Customer service was really bad from the manager.
The waitress was really nice; the food took really long to come.
Great value food . Friendly staff.
Outdoor dining working well however onl
Great place with great food. Staff very attentive and made sure we had a great night. Staff did well ensuring Covid compliance too.
Overall, our time at Red Dog Saloon was alright, but it easily could’ve been improved.
Firstly, we were sat not even at the restaurant, but across from it at a different restaurant’s patio- which is fine, but there was zero ambience, heating, or lighting at all, which put a damper on our evening.
The servers tried their best to make it enjoyable, but they were understaffed in my opinion.
Our starters came out super quick and hot! We ordered fried pickles and BBQ wings and loved both! We were super happy with that.
We ordered our mains- 1 smash burger and 1 punisher mk2 burger with philly and guerilla fries. The punisher mk2 burger was delicious because it had several BBQ meats in it, but honestly, the smash burger was nothing special. Both of the fries were alright. The food came out hot, but did take some time to arrive at our table.
Finally, getting our Bill was a bit long, as the servers were busy running across both patios.
I’d say stick to Red Dog’s BBQ. Their BBQ is amazing and we’ll definitely be coming back to order one of their trays, and hopefully we can get a seat at the actual restaurant!
Freezing cold, over the street from the main restaurant. Not suitable
We had to leave the restaurant and go somewhere else.
We were not sat in the normal outside restaurant area despite booking in advance.
We were asked to go sit across the Square, outside a random shop front/cafe that was closed. No heater. No wind breaker. For a 6:30 dinner. It was windy and freezing. So we cancelled the sitting and went elsewhere.
Very disappointed as I was looking forward to enjoying the Red Dog Saloon food for my first visit to London in 9 months!
Met colleagues for the first time since lockdown starting to open up and we chose the Red Dog Saloon because it was the only venue with reservations (we booked a week in advance).
Super glad we did! Not only was it a super comfortable and well-designed outside space with both covering and heaters (it was cold and raining, very appreciated), the food was outstanding (very beautifully fried chips, onion rings, and pickle chips), the drinks were free flowing and plentiful, and the service was just the right amount (asking us when we needed things, but not more, easy to get ahold of when needed).
Overall we had a great time. The only downside was that our 1.5 hour reservation slot was too short! We would have preferred to stay longer, if possible, it was so comfortable.
Will definitely go back again, would recommend to friends. If you want a cosy, authentic all-American experience that is clean and homey, this is your spot. Thanks!
The food look more delicious in photos than in the reality, cold food and the taste like a old food
Very good food. Amazing burger. A bit on the expensive side
Cocktails were terrible, served in dirty glasses. Food was only ok however service was poor, took a long time to get any staff attention even though they were standing at the till
The staff were really efficient and friendly and the cocktails were delicious :)
Excellent food, great cocktails, really lovely outdoor seating with heating. Recommend this place to anyone!
Smoked meat is a must - beef brisket, pork ribs, short rib with a combo of side dishes! Delicious!
Your food is simply insane, a total experience of flavours, just the best burgueses I’ve ever eaten in my short but tasty life
Brilliant to back open to eat there....amazing food
Food was really nice, but music was terrible. The last thing you expect to hear in saloon - techno music at max volume.
One of the worst places I’ve visited for ensuring the safety of others of Covid. A group of 12 teenagers arriving claiming they are from one household. Whilst trying to explain this to the waitress she was rude and conceited. “Call the police if you like” was her response.
Great food, great vibes. Will definitely be returning!
It was all brilliant, really brilliant, we had a wonderful time
Service wasn’t great. Sat near to bar and seemed to be in a spot that was overlooked by waiting staff.
Food still good.
Food was absolutely outstanding and completely authentic.
Best barbecue I’ve had outside the states! We were put downstairs which was a little dark for our liking, especially when upstairs had a great atmosphere and looked buzzing when we arrived and left.
Overall, great food and their own beer is decent too, thoroughly recommend!
Service was good. Atmosphere was great. Chicken was quite oily. But we had a nice time
Went here with friends for dinner. Service was nice, although a bit slow at the end. It was very loud and couldn't always hear what my friends were saying. Food was good, above average. The sausages were really good, the brisket a little dry for my taste. The meat platter for 2 is a good combo to taste a little of everything. In all a decent evening.
Food was great, didn’t have to wait long at all. Lighting was a bit too dim but was great dining experience overall
The food and service was great. Very attentive. We will be coming back again!
Outstanding service and food with amazing music being played.
The breakfast was a shambles, all burnt, an we were the only people in there, burgers are great but will never eat breakfast there again
