Red Dog Saloon Hoxton
Our award-winning smoker has been imported from the USA and is built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 16 hours.
Over an hour wait between courses and that was in an almost empty restaurant
Gave us a blank menu, had find someone and asked to be served. Food took nearly an hour to come out when it did come it was cold - had to send it back.
Food was good, but was quiet noisy for a tuesday night
Was shown to the table no mention was made of the fact they had the three main meat dishes unavailable. The only reason i went their was for them ,went to order our food and was then told of their unavailability had to quickly think of something else to have so ordered buffalo wings. They generously offered me an extra two on top of my order all though to be fair the waitress said I could have 9.My daughter's chicken portions comprised of a big wing and a thigh not much meat on them and her pit beans weren't nice at all. The lights where dimmed and we could barely see what we were eating. The best thing I has was my drink the moral of this tale is don't go on a Sunday.
Was great but as a large party the food didn't come out altogether. Four of us had finished our meal before the rest of the party were served. But still had a great evening with everyone and the staff were lovely!
Really cool bar & restaurant serving tex mex style food. Great menu with broad food options including the likes of wings, ribs, steaks & burgers etc. Really good service from our waitress who was a credit to the Red Dog. Would highly recommend the buffalo wings which will leave your lips tingling!
Once upon a time RDS was a cool, popular and vibrant place to go on a Friday night. Now I feel that a lot of similar American/ BBQ places have overtaken RDS. The burgers were bland and not as tasty as they once were, cooked rare at least which was not how it was requested. Overall not good value for money either. Such a shame.
Great atmosphere loved watching someone do the hot wing challenge burgers were amazing
Been to Red dog at Hoxton a good few times now and it never disappoints! A good balance of quantity and quality, thanks guys! 👌🏼
The food was good, however very dry mouth followed despite drinking lots of water. Very noisy as large groups were there, would still recommend, maybe not on a Friday night if you don’t want a noisy one.
The hot chicken tenders were arguably the best fried chicken I’ve had in London. Sides were great too. Really good value for money.
Staff was very friendly and more importantly the food was mmm deliciouso 👌🏾
The main menu are normal sizes, don't be fooled by their website. The burgers were good but a medium size - we all left hungry :(
Cheesestakes are literally a baguette with some shredded meat. No salad on the side or anything. The Red Dog Club was disappointing for £14.50 and came without it's described salad in it.
Very slow service and stated I was on a date but got given a table at the end of a group booking of 10
I’ve been waiting a couple of weeks now to come here with my daughter and boom what a beast of a meal we both had !!!!
Everything was just amazing from the burgers to the onion rings to the Mac or the fries
I cannot wait to come back and try something different
The staff are so welcoming and made our meal there mesmerising
We can’t thank them enough
Burger was raw, had to be sent back. Cold and uncooked in the middle. Ordered one without onions, came smothered so sent back. Although staff took the price of the food off the final bill, everything seemed like an effort, with us waiting nearly 10 minutes for mayo despite asking 3 people for some.
This was a lovely meal to end our day from shuffling in Shoreditch the service was pretty good and the cocktails tasted lovely.
Definitely come here again
Unfortunately Red dog has losts it's way. Everything was dry. Unclearly shown on the menu. 6 slices of brisket for £39? And it was dry. No smoke flavour. Very disappointing. Even the gooie louie was dry and bland. Sad to give a bad review of an old favourite, but there are many more high quality establishment's doing high quality at much more affordable prices. Dissatisfied
Tiny bit annoying that they show their big meat platters all over social media, but it's not on the menu! We asked for it anyway and the lady just looked confused at first. I almost had to spell out what we wanted. I was tempted to pull out Instagram and say, "THIS'. Once we'd got that out of the way the place, food and service were excellent.
Really good food and very filling. However, the cocktail bowl was pretty overpriced (£30 and very weak, must have had like two shots worth of alcohol in the whole thing and then just loads of ice). They did oblige when we asked for a refill, at least. Also, the pricing on the ‘plates’ is a bit dodgy, as when you order two meats or three meats (which are progressively more expensive), they give you less of each, without any warning first as to it working this way - you’d expect it just to be adding on, naturally and as I did.
I did the hot wing challenge Friday night for charity and the waiter that served me was excellent so supporting and kind really added to the atmosphere! Thanks Red dog Saloon you’re awesome!
Booked a table and they did not even let us sit to eat.
This is the 2nd time they have done this. Definitely wont ever try this place again seeing as the two times I’ve reserved a table and gone to their door, they have turned us away. Ridiculous. Yet again, I am extremely disappointed by this restaurant.
Great place for a work lunch, food was excellent, if a little slow in coming.
We visited on a Friday late afternoon, for my sons birthday, there were not many other diners but our food took forever to come out from kitchen. My meal was cold and not what I expected as I ordered the bbq sandwich but was served a brioche bun? Also the nacho starters and onion rings we ordered to go with it. I ordered a Diet Coke which was as flat as a pancake and you could only order 1 size which was a pint. The staff were friendly enough and they did bring out a little cake and sing happy birthday which I thought was very sweet of them. I was the only one of us that had an issue with my food and I didn’t make a fuss about it. Just thought seeing as they were not very busy the meals would have been on point. Disappointing as we have previously had take out from Red Dog and really enjoyed it. Not somewhere I would like to go again or recommend to others.
Terrific experience, but make sure you don't order too much as it's very filling!
Good experience, we go for the doomsday burger, not has hot as the last time we was there.
Just ok for me. We went because of how they showed themselves on Instagram but sadly it really wasn’t close to that. The food was just ok. Service was just ok. Dessert were basic. I doubt we’d return.
Decent BBQ joint but somewhere that never really wows me, although maybe that's not what it's trying to do. Good fun, very relaxed and always enjoyable
The tables are too small for 2 plates plus 3/4 dishes. Extremely noisy. Outside seating should be completely separate to inside as there were large groups sitting outside who were really loud.
The food was amazing and the staff friendly. I would definitely recommend this place!
The rib was very chewy that was really all I could fault, the food is fairly expensive but I’d say worth the money. The brisket and the chicken tenders are definitely the highlight.
The food at RedDog is almost amazing , The Wings, Natchos and Loaded Fries are delicious. things that let it down, the Ice tea isn't quite right, its a little too sweet with a synthetic taste and 3 ice cubes... thats not iced tea.... and the Blue cheese sauce for the wings was more like a think white sauce, pretty sure it had seen ZERO actual blue cheese, for me Buffalo wings aren't complete with the blue cheese sauce it didn't deliver. The wings are good though, cracking buffalo sauce, if not a little on the small side, no Jumbo chickens in the UK it seems. Overall you wont be disappointed, if you haven't been to the South, just don't take any actual Americans there, they wont be impressed.
I was in a group of 7 and we only ordered 4 starters to share. Our main course was very slow at coming out, other tables around us had come and gone before we got our mains. The service staff was friendly so not sure the reason for the delay, kitchen maybe!
Background music a bit too loud when trying to have a conversation. I'm sure service staff would have reduced it if we asked. One of our group thought the bread could be a bit fresher and the burger not so rubbery. But overall the food was good.
Second time coming back and didn't disappoint will certainly be coming again.
Great food although a little expensive. Our table service was superb with a real friendly and positive attitude.
The service was really slow.
The food wasn’t as good as advertised on social media doesn’t look anything like the platters they show
Great food and a brilliant restaurant, 5* service!
