Red Dog Saloon Hoxton
Our award-winning smoker has been imported from the USA and is built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 16 hours.
We visited on a Friday late afternoon, for my sons birthday, there were not many other diners but our food took forever to come out from kitchen. My meal was cold and not what I expected as I ordered the bbq sandwich but was served a brioche bun? Also the nacho starters and onion rings we ordered to go with it. I ordered a Diet Coke which was as flat as a pancake and you could only order 1 size which was a pint. The staff were friendly enough and they did bring out a little cake and sing happy birthday which I thought was very sweet of them. I was the only one of us that had an issue with my food and I didn’t make a fuss about it. Just thought seeing as they were not very busy the meals would have been on point. Disappointing as we have previously had take out from Red Dog and really enjoyed it. Not somewhere I would like to go again or recommend to others.
Terrific experience, but make sure you don't order too much as it's very filling!
Good experience, we go for the doomsday burger, not has hot as the last time we was there.
Just ok for me. We went because of how they showed themselves on Instagram but sadly it really wasn’t close to that. The food was just ok. Service was just ok. Dessert were basic. I doubt we’d return.
Decent BBQ joint but somewhere that never really wows me, although maybe that's not what it's trying to do. Good fun, very relaxed and always enjoyable
The tables are too small for 2 plates plus 3/4 dishes. Extremely noisy. Outside seating should be completely separate to inside as there were large groups sitting outside who were really loud.
The food was amazing and the staff friendly. I would definitely recommend this place!
The rib was very chewy that was really all I could fault, the food is fairly expensive but I’d say worth the money. The brisket and the chicken tenders are definitely the highlight.
The food at RedDog is almost amazing , The Wings, Natchos and Loaded Fries are delicious. things that let it down, the Ice tea isn't quite right, its a little too sweet with a synthetic taste and 3 ice cubes... thats not iced tea.... and the Blue cheese sauce for the wings was more like a think white sauce, pretty sure it had seen ZERO actual blue cheese, for me Buffalo wings aren't complete with the blue cheese sauce it didn't deliver. The wings are good though, cracking buffalo sauce, if not a little on the small side, no Jumbo chickens in the UK it seems. Overall you wont be disappointed, if you haven't been to the South, just don't take any actual Americans there, they wont be impressed.
I was in a group of 7 and we only ordered 4 starters to share. Our main course was very slow at coming out, other tables around us had come and gone before we got our mains. The service staff was friendly so not sure the reason for the delay, kitchen maybe!
Background music a bit too loud when trying to have a conversation. I'm sure service staff would have reduced it if we asked. One of our group thought the bread could be a bit fresher and the burger not so rubbery. But overall the food was good.
Second time coming back and didn't disappoint will certainly be coming again.
Great food although a little expensive. Our table service was superb with a real friendly and positive attitude.
The service was really slow.
The food wasn’t as good as advertised on social media doesn’t look anything like the platters they show
Great food and a brilliant restaurant, 5* service!
Lovely food. Attentive service and friendly staff, can’t wait to return.
Excellent food and first class service. I will definitely be going again
Somehow a table of 10 that arrived 30mins before us managed to order ALL of the BBQ meat they had so most of the menu was not available (there was barely anyone else in the restaurant so unsure how that is possible).
I had reserved a table so they had my contact details and could have informed me of the issue but didn't.
I appreciate certain items can run out but if you are cooking the BBQ fresh and one of the main things you supply is BBQ meat then how do you run out at lunchtime on a Tuesday? (What were you thinking of cooking that evening?)
The staff tried to be helpful and book us a table at the Soho restaurant but we didn't fancy the inconvenience/cost of having to travel there so didn't go.
BBQ restaurant with no meat.... intriguing concept... ain't gonna work.... used to be great!
Definitely a go to place in Hoxton for a great hearty meal.
We went last year and it was amazing. Went this weekend and it was so disappointing. Quality of food was shocking. Has gone down hill massively. Bill came in at £68 for 2 burgers and fries and a couple drinks
Table booked but wasn’t ready on time. Was then moved downstairs to the ‘nightclub’ section. A bit disappointing but the food was cracking
After a relatively long wait to be served we ordered drinks and the choices were pints of a pitcher , we asked how many pints were in a pitcher , this seemed to cause confusion (assume this has never been asked before). At third time of asking we gave up as the question was indeed unanswerable . We then ordered food, starters arrived , wings and nachos and were fine, no issues, almost an hour after initially ordering the burgers arrived . But no sides..... and one burger was wrong, it simply needed cheese adding. About twenty minutes later said burger appeared with cheese. No idea what the delay was as it simply needed cheese and everyone else had almost finished , we kept being promised our chips would arrive, after we had finished our burgers we just cancelled the chips as had no belief they would arrive (roughly 85 mins after ordering them). So we didn’t pay for them.
The place wasn’t overly busy so don’t know why everything was so slow. Would’ve been happy if we had been kept up to date on the order but we weren’t
Overall not a great experience and unlikely to return
Great food. A little overpriced. Would recommend tho.
We booked a table from the website, when we arrived they said that the kitchen was closed.
Well, it was not my fault but they didn’t apologise and didn’t try to make a solution for their mistake!!
Horrible service and rude
Good quality meat ,not the best I ever had .
Nice location but too noisy ,it was quite impossible to have a chat with my partner
The toilet let down the whole experience. Expecting a whole restaurant to use on disabled toilet that looked like it had never been cleaned, grimey and wee everywhere.
This is the 4th time I have been to red dog saloon. And by far the worst of my visits, as soon as we arrived their was a huge commotion going on, which related to the fact that there was only 1 toilet open, both of which were to be used by males and females. The commotion was a male trying to fight another male, over what I don’t know, he was escorted out of the restaurant. Once we were sat down it took quite a while to order food and drinks, then when the starters arrived some of the wings we ordered were somewhat cold. It has then taken longer than we expected to order our main course. Whilst waiting for our mains another male has been escorted from the restaurant, this was while a very heavily pregnant female who was part of our group was waiting for the toilet, so naturally we were all very concerned for her. Once the main courses had arrived, I had the carnivore platter with someone else, this was nowhere near the standard I am used to from red dog saloon. Before leaving the restaurant I have gone to the toilet, the state of the toilet was atrocious, I understand that with only 1 working toilet this might be hard to keep on top of, but the state of it was terrible. Needless to say I was very disappointed with a restaurant that I normally very much enjoy my time at.
As always we had a lovely time at Red Dog, Hoxton Square. Staff are lovely, food is great and the ambience is good. What more could you want?! Looking forward to the hot chicken restaurant opening downstairs very soon.
Amazing food and service, no chance in leaving hungry !
Good food options, good quality, friendly staff. Would definitely visit again.
I'm a regular customer and Red Dog never fails to impress
Great location and good service.
Best mozzarella sticks I’ve ever tasted. Brisket was excellent.
The Greek barman and bar woman in particular were excellent. Same for the Hungarian waitress. Great service. Food was generally good. Atmosphere great.
Great food...took a little while to arrive it was super busy so understandable. The one thing that was not great was the quality of the ladies toilets!!!! I wont say more....
Food was great! I've heard a lot about the restaurant and it did not disappoint!
I did make a request in the additional notes that didn't get fulfilled though which is a bit of shame but there you go!
The food was not good and over priced and toke forever to come
