Red Dog Saloon Hoxton
Our award-winning smoker has been imported from the USA and is built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 16 hours.
This was my third time here, the food was definitely not as good as the last couple of times, felt like they weren’t on their A-game, waited about 25 mins to get our drinks despite it being quiet and burgers weren’t very hot. I’ll still go again in future though as have had some amazing food and service in here before.
Service was friendly prompt and efficient. Food amazing for the carnivores and the 2 veggies and vegan in our group also really enjoyed their meals.
Only slight issue is the lighting levels, 10 people were trying to read the menu by phone light.
The food is great would be perfect if you could see it
Was very cramped food was nice but very long to come out.
The beer i had tasted horrible so i changed go another one and it still tasted horrible! The burger was saturated in greece with no taste what so ever. This was the philly cheese steak burger. The mac and cheese side was the woret mac and cheese i have tried my partners red wine was not good so much so she left it and had to pay for another drink which was equally bad. And for 2 people to have 1 starter each 1 burger each with 3 sides and 3 drinks set us back over £80 for what i would say was probably the worst meal i have had in a long time. Valentine's day was pretty much ruined by this experience. Would never recommend this place to eat. Poor value for money. Poor food and poor drink
Very dissatisfied customer
It has improved massively since my last visit around a year ago. Much better menu, service was great.
The food was great but within the first five minutes, three waiters asked us six times what we wanted for drinks, we didn’t get enough time to even look. Our waitress was pretty “whatever” about anything and it was so dark we had to use our phone torches to see the menu.
The Red Dog Saloon quite simply make the best burgers I have ever tasted. My wife and I seek one out every time we are in London.
Unfortunately, due to a fire, the central Soho branch was closed at time of writing, so the Hoxton branch was the only London-based alternative. It is not the quickest or easiest of places to get to, but let me assure you that it is more than worth the trip for the frankly absurd quality of food. The meat melts in the mouth, and there is more cheese than you could ever hope for.
They even offer some food challenges for the brave (or foolish). However, be warned that there is some serious competition, so don't be disappointed if you pale.in comparison to previous winners that adorn the wall of fame.
The only thing to be aware of is that the noise levels can be quite high, causing you to have to speak at quite high volumes to carry a conversation. There is also a quite relaxed atmosphere, which can lead to small children running around at their whim - so it's not somewhere to go for a quiet meal.
Any serious carnivores must give this place a go, as they truly work some sort of magic on the meat. And I don't think anyone ever leaves unsatisfied.
I'll be back every chance I get. And be sure to keep an eye open for the more centrally-located Soho branch when it re-opens!
The quality of the food is amazing. We had a sharing platter and sides and everything was so tasty! Our waiter Jose Ramon helped us choose the portions and it was just perfect. He was really knowledgeable of the product and really great customer service. Great experience and looking forward to coming back soon!
Great location near to bars etc. Amazing food. Loads of choice.
Delicious food and lovely staff thank you for a wonderful experience...we’ll be back
Amazing bbq meat and great variety of burgers, the staff is really friendly and the place is very comfortable, highly recommended!!
Was excited to try this place as have been to some similar restaurants and been really impressed....
However this was such a let down, on arrival was not greeted for 5 minutes and then just shoved on a table menus thrown down and the waitress walked off. After 15 minutes we ordered drinks these then arrived about 15/20 later.
The food came and to be fair the plate I had was good , however the burger that my girlfriend had was so greasy, like swimming in grease! Awful.
We then got the bill after asking 3 different people for it. And I said I didn’t want to pay the service charge which was 12.5%. However the waitress said yeah but it goes to staff I was like I don’t care the service was crap. I then paid the bill however once I got in checked my receipt and she kept the service charge on there anyway.
Food average, overpriced and waiting staff not bothered about customer. So disappointing
Generally the service was poor. Everything had to be asked for twice and took quite a while to be sorted. As food was brought out, two of the people I was with had to wait extended time for their main course, I had to ask twice for cutlery, drink refills again asked for twice. Upon asking for a jug of water, it eventually came but with two glasses (there were five of us) and on top of that, the food was ok at best. I had some incredibly fatty brisket on my platter that probably account for at least a third of the weight. Sneaky sneaky considering it’s charged on weight!
It was the first time ever I’ve never paid the service charge and the look of disgust the server gave me was pretty telling.
Waiters were nice but overwhelmed on a Saturday service. Unfortunately there was some issues during the service but the staff was nice and did their best. Would go again.
Literally the most emense, juicest Veggie cheese burger Ive had in my life!!!! Highly recommend the GUERILLA WARFARE FRIES!!!! Ohh and the cocktails were on point!!
Great food. Drinks were a little slow to come but on the whole a good dining experience.
This restaurant was really relaxed and the team were very helpful. The pork rib and chicken wings were absolutely delicious and came out very quickly. Would definitely come back to try other dishes, especially the burgers! They looked amazing!
The least satisfying meal I have ever had. Half the menu was unavailable, the wrong drinks were served, the food took over an hour after ordering to arrive and it was cold. The server was very unapologetic. I would actively avoid this restaurant.
I went there for dinner with my girlfriend. The food was fantastic.I recomend the philly cheeseburger and the chicken and bacon fries.Very friendly staff and nice music. Thanks for the experience guys.
Ribs were succulent, and the gerkhins and side salads were nice. I'll definately go back there.
Worst service I've ever experienced. Mains came before starters and massive gaps between each person receiving their food so we didn't get to eat together. Expensive night for a ruined birthday. Won't be returning.
Awful Service and Raw Chicken!
Group of 7 pre booked via opentable on Saturday for a Birthday celebration. On arrival the restaurant was packed and table wasn't ready, we waited 20 mins to be seated, after turning down a booth for 6, as there were 7 of us. Two outside garden chairs bought in as there’s not enough seats! Slow service and when drinks arrived 2 were missing. Starters arrived on time but 2 of them were wrong. We ordered second round of drinks, again they took a long time to arrive.
The real issues started when our mains had not arrived after 45 mins, queried the waitress as we had another venue booked. Waitress shrugged said there were lots of big tables downstairs so our food hadn't been started, I asked for them to be cancelled and was told that wouldn’t be possible as the chef was starting them now! Waitress checks again with chef food will be 15 mins - again ask for the bill, am told I need to speak to the manager. Manager arrives and says our food will be 5 mins…. 5 mins later food is delivered by the Manager one burger was wrong but we took it anyway. One of us who ordered the SFC Platter cuts into a chicken drumstick and it's RAW, not just a little pink, translucent, barely been touched by a fryer RAW! Call Manager back, he looks annoyed, takes chicken and we say we don't want anything else just the bill as now all lost our appetite. Ask waitress for chicken to be removed from the bill to be told we need to speak to the manager! Check the bill and it's still wrong has 5 Coronas on it and we only ordered 1 - same palaver where we have to wait for the manager to have them removed. At this point even the waitress starts crying and is escorted outside!
The place was utter chaos yet they were still accepting walk-ins and just-eat orders as mopeds kept arriving. At no time were we offered an apology, there were at least 3 other tables complaining and querying their bills. I would not recommend this place at all even in your desperate AVOID!
Very nice food, nanchos left a lot to be desired but other than that a really good visit, good And quick service
Good food but way overpriced.
Texas style saloon but the music does not match the surroundings and is way too loud
Really enjoyed the night.
The only thing that let it down was the short rib was abit too tough, everything else was bang on
We had booked a table but got told when we was seated the kitchen has been shut and will be for the next half an hour as there are too many orders. Not sure I follow as you shouldn't let the restaurant get fully booked if you are not able to keep up with the orders.
Secondly, two of our party had the same meal and when they got home they was both extremely sick.
Service was quite poor usually you can accept this on a busy night but not when they add a service charge. Very slow and music was loud. Food however as usual was incredible.
The whole experience was pretty good but one thing let me down and that was the way the waiter treated us towards the end. The occasion was a birthday dinner and everyone wanted to pay separately but according to the waiter we couldn’t do that because the restaurant was a busy so we waited until she changed her mins which was about 10 minutes for us to then pay and leave .
Loved it!! Please bring it to NYC
Please bring it to NYC
Service was very slow - waited over 30mins after we finished our meal to get a bill, and I had to go up to the till to ask someone directly for the bill as my neck was in danger of being strained from looking around so much trying to get a server's attention. The service is included, which is a shame as I wouldn't have left 12.5% tip due to the poor service, but I had had enough and wanted to leave so didn't ask for it to be removed.
The buffalo chicken wings were great, the Texas Fries were cold. My diet coke was served with so much ice it was watery to begin with, let alone part way through.
Toilets were flooded so had a choice of getting wet shoes wading through the water, or getting in a queue 4 people long for the single disabled toilet upstairs.
All in all, a disappointing experience and will not be returning.
Went and wanted to try the brisket wasn’t until after we had been seated and where nearly ready to order to be told there was no brisket left so had to start again and choose different food. I ordered a burger that was cold and pretty much raw in the middle that had no taste to it at all. The server replaced the burger for me and it tasted completely different from the other one and was good in the end.
Red Dog is a well known American diner chain with ridiculously good feel good food.
Burgers are incredibly tasty and the homemade sauces are brilliant too.
Staff were super friendly and fun.
Food is really good, and the price is decent, just service was a bit slow - specially for mid day when there was only about 3-4 tables in!
I would recommend it however, the service needs to be better like me and my man waited for the bill for 10 mins which I understand if they were busy but we had asked two people already and we had ask a third person. The food was so good but alot so yeah be mindful when ordering plus the barbecue stuff ran out when we got there
Excellent food and place. I would go there again. All
We appreciate it was Boxing Day but the bbq pit was closed. Why open a bbq restaurant on the day your pit is closed, and why not tell the guests when you call to book. Or put on a special or have a me ie that shows what was available rather than having the wait staff go back and forward to the kitchen to check
Food was not great at all, not worth the money. I was not happy with my dining experience.
Minimum orders for things meant racking a bill up to £100 on the platter. Food came Luke warm. Staff were nice. We would probably come back to try one of the burgers but very disappointed with the platter meats after seeing on Instagram
The best burgers in London! Cannot recommend this place enough!
We went there because of the beed ribs actually, but they did not have them.. so at first we were a bit disappointed but we tried pork ribs and brisket. It was delicious!! A bit confusing the service as they mixed our drinks order with another table but nothing dramatic. Place is very cool, love the atmosphere and we had a great night. We'll be back.
